Although there are several new and powerful features on the device, the Galaxy Note20 Ultra isn&#8217;t as powerful as the Galaxy S20 Ultra which was launched earlier this year.</p>
<p>It is the first device to come with Samsung Display&#8217;s Lower Display Power Technology named HOP and the newly launched Corning <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/23/cornings-toughest-gorilla-glass-victus-announced-may-feature-on-the-galaxy-note-20/">Gorilla Glass Victus</a>.</p>

<p>For the display, there&#8217;s low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistor (TFT) technology, <a href="http://www.thelec.net/news/articleView.html?idxno=1334">reports The Elec</a>. It is a combination of the best qualities of low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) TFT and oxide TFT.</p>
<p>The LPTO technology is claimed to reduce the power consumption of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oled">OLED</a> panels by 15 percent to 20 percent compared to LTPS. It even saves battery life when using AR and VR technology, as well as 5G connectivity.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK:</span> </strong><a title="TikTok might go to court against Trump’s executive order banning the app" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/07/tiktok-threatens-court-action-executive-order/" rel="bookmark"><strong>TikTok warns it might go to court against Trump’s executive order banning the app</strong></a></p>
<p>The technology was first used by LG for the OLED panels on Apple Watch in 2018 and then Samsung used the same tech for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/24/samsung-galaxy-watch-active2-4g-launched-india/">Galaxy Watch Active2</a> a year later. Now, Samsung is expected to use this HOP technology for next year&#8217;s Apple iPhone as well.</p>
<p>As for the camera, the Note20 Ultra packs 108-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor on the back. In comparison, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s20-ultra/">S20 Ultra</a> features a 48MP telephoto lens. The Note20 Ultra also lacks a 3D ToF sensor and instead, comes with a laser auto-focus sensor.</p>
<p>Also, the company has reduced the 100x Space Zoom feature of the S20 Ultra to just 50x Space Zoom on the Note20 Ultra. But, the 5x optical zoom support remains intact. While the camera output may offer better results, on paper, the camera configuration doesn&#8217;t seem as powerful as S20 Ultra.</p>

However, it seems that the South Korean giant isn&#8217;t expecting as much demand as its predecessor for the new devices.</p>
<p>As <a href="http://www.thelec.net/news/articleView.html?idxno=1329">per the report</a> coming from The Elec, Samsung has ordered about 20 percent fewer components for the Galaxy Note20 series. However, if that&#8217;s actually the case, then it is likely for the initial batch only and if the company sees a surge in demand, it can procure more components.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-335679 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_20200805_134923.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung Galaxy Note 20" width="2000" height="1499" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_20200805_134923.jpg 2000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_20200805_134923-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_20200805_134923-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_20200805_134923-1024x767.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_20200805_134923-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_20200805_134923-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_20200805_134923-696x522.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_20200805_134923-1068x800.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_20200805_134923-560x420.jpg 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_20200805_134923-1920x1439.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px" /></p>
<p>The report claims that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> is expecting initial shipments of three million units for the latest Note-series flagship smartphones. Further, it adds that the total expected shipments for the lineup stand at around 10 million units by the end of this year.</p>
<p>The move of ordering 20 percent fewer components for the Galaxy Note20 series could be because of the less than anticipated demand for the Galaxy S20 series smartphones launched earlier this year.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK:</span> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/14/samsung-expecting-6g-to-launch-by-2028/">Samsung announces plans for 6G technology; Launch expected by the end of this decade</a></strong></p>
<p>Also, the company&#8217;s sale of smartphones has been impacted by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/covid-19">COVID-19</a> pandemic and since major markets still haven&#8217;t recovered, the company is likely keeping the stock volume low for the initial batches.</p>
<p>The Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s20-ultra/">Galaxy S20 Ultra</a> was the best-selling model in the lineup and the company also expects a similar situation with the newly launched series. It expects Galaxy Note20 Ultra to account for 70 percent to 80 percent sales among the two models.</p>
<p>The Samsung Galaxy Note20 comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, for a price of $999.99. On the other hand, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is priced at $1,299.99 for the 12GB + 256GB variant and $1,499.99 for the 12GB + 512GB version. Both models will go on sale from August 21st.</p>

A recent one reveals that the flagship <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-note20-ultra/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy Note20 Ultra</a> will feature a dynamic refresh rate switching.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">The latest firmware Galaxy Note20 Ultra has added an adaptive 120Hz option. But there is still no QHD+120Hz option. <a href="https://t.co/VOf9Y5LoJW">pic.twitter.com/VOf9Y5LoJW</a></p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>The known leakster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) shared the leak on Twitter. Similar to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-s20/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy S20</a> series, the Galaxy Note20 Ultra will not have an option to use 120Hz high refresh rate at QHD+ resolution. For those unaware, Samsung offered users a manual option to toggle between 60Hz and 120Hz refresh rate at the FHD+ resolution in the flagship handset that was launched earlier this year.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/15/reliance-jio-made-in-india-5g-launch-2021/">Reliance Jio announces self developed ‘Made In India’ 5G solution, to launch in 2021</a></strong></h6>
<p>Although, Samsung might be able to offer a balance between decent battery life and performance with Galaxy Note 20Ultra through its dynamic switching feature. This feature would be welcomed considering the 120Hz high refresh rate panel is only beneficial in quite a few scenarios or applications.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-330974 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Galaxy-Note20-Ultra.png?x10805" alt="Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra" width="920" height="575" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Galaxy-Note20-Ultra.png 920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Galaxy-Note20-Ultra-300x188.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Galaxy-Note20-Ultra-768x480.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Galaxy-Note20-Ultra-696x435.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Galaxy-Note20-Ultra-672x420.png 672w" sizes="(max-width: 920px) 100vw, 920px" /></p>
<p>Keep in mind, the dynamic refresh rate is different from the variable refresh rate, which requires necessary hardware support. Dynamic switching will have the Samsung device automatically switching between 60Hz and 120Hz depending on usage and the situation. On the other hand, the variable refresh rate adjusts the displays refresh rate in real time depending on the content on the screen.</p>

While <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/25/samsung-galaxy-note-20-cad-renders-reveal-large-display-and-premium-design/">CAD renders</a> have given us an idea of what the phones will look like, we now have our first official look at the Galaxy Note20 Ultra thanks to <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> Ukraine.</p>
<p>The official Samsung Ukraine website accidentally put up images of the Mystic Bronze variant of the phone and it is a really gorgeous device. The pictures were posted under the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-note-8/">Galaxy Note8&#8217;s</a> page according to Max Weinbach (@MaxWinebach) who shared them on Twitter.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-330050 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Galaxy-Note20-Ultra.jpg?x10805" alt="Galaxy Note20 Ultra" width="900" height="344" /></p>
<p>The Galaxy Note20 Ultra is shown to have four rear cameras, one of which has a periscope lens that will provide up to 50x zoom. The phone has a pretty thick rectangular camera bump that also houses the LED flash.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-330049 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Galaxy-Note20-Ultra-b.jpg?x10805" alt="Galaxy Note20 Ultra" width="680" height="312" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Galaxy-Note20-Ultra-b.jpg 680w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Galaxy-Note20-Ultra-b-300x138.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px" /></p>
<p>The images show the S Pen in a matching color but none shows the front of the phone.</p>
<p>The Galaxy Note20 Ultra will launch alongside its sibling on August 5. The phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 865 processor and have support for 5G. There will also be an Exynos version of the phone. Other features are a QHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 16GB of RAM, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and support for wireless charging.</p>
