Samsung has launched the Galaxy Quantum 5, a highly secure version of its Galaxy A55 smartphone, specifically designed for the South Korean market. In collaboration with SK Telecom and ID Quantique, Samsung has equipped the Quantum 5 with a quantum cryptography security chip to enhance its online security capabilities.

ID Quantique’s Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) chip uses quantum physics to generate random numbers. Unlike traditional random number generators, which can be influenced by outside factors, QRNGs produce numbers that are truly random and unpredictable. These numbers are then used in the encryption/decryption process of sensitive data like biometrics or passwords. Other than the inclusion of the QRNG chip, the device is pretty much a Galaxy A55.

The Samsung Quantum 5 features a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Exynos 1480 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and runs on the Android 14 operating system. The device is equipped with a Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) chip from ID Quantique.

The phone’s camera setup includes a 50MP primary rear camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 32MP front-facing camera. Additionally, it houses a 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging.

Priced at KRW 618,200 ($465), the Quantum 5 is available in three color options: Awesome Ice Blue, Awesome Lilac, and Awesome Navy.
