So far, we have all been calling Samsung’s upcoming 2020 flagship Galaxy series as Galaxy S11. However, according to a new report, the newest smartphone lineup from the smartphone manufacturer is skipping ahead in years to arrive at the Galaxy S20 series. This has yet to be announced officially but jumps in numeric naming are not unheard of in the industry.

The report has yet to be confirmed but also offers some interesting insight about Samsung’s latest premium grade smartphone lineup. Reportedly, the South Korean tech giant will launch 3 variants with there not being a Galaxy S20e but rather a Galaxy S20; followed by Galaxy S20 Plus and Galaxy S20 Ultra. This is quite similar to Apple’s decision on not launching an iPhone 11R but having the entry level start with iPhone 11 and offered a Pro and Max Pro variant.

Furthermore, the information gathered from a Twitter leak also arrived with a few minor details alongside it. Samsung Galaxy S20 will feature a 6.2 inch display while the Galaxy S20+ will arrive with a 6.7 inch display. The Galaxy S20 Ultra, on the other hand, arrives with a large 6.9 inch display. This makes it clear that the three smartphones are large in size and are likely to feature minimal bezels on every side.

Steve Hemmerstoffer a.k.a. OnLeaks shared a photo on Twitter which he says is an updated render of the phone’s rear camera setup. He stated that the design we first saw back in November when he released renders of the phone was “based upon a first stage prototype”.

The new render shows the Galaxy S11+/Galaxy S20+ will have four rear cameras and not five. One of the cameras appears to be a periscope zoom lens due to the shape of the sensor. This means we may be getting some really impressive zoom features with the Galaxy S11+/Galaxy S20+.

Back in late November, it was reported that the upcoming Galaxy S flagships will have a feature called Space Zoom. This feature allows the phones to have up to 100x digital zoom.

This periscope zoom lens may also be the distinguishing feature, at least with respect to cameras, between the standard model and the Plus model.

The Galaxy S11+ is rumored to have a primary 108MP sensor that is different from the one used by Xiaomi’s Mi Note 10. It should also have an ultrawide camera and may include a 3D ToF camera. It has also been reported that its battery capacity may reach 5000mAh.

According to a new report, Samsung is apparently looking into an early release of its Samsung Galaxy S11 series. The South Korean tech giant is reportedly planning on holding the launch event in San Francisco, USA. It was also where the last year’s flagship series, the Galaxy S10, was unveiled. Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy S11 series is not expected to be released until next year. But curiously, the models have been subject of leaks and rumours for a while now. The leaks keep streaming in, the latest of which is a couple of images of the front panel of the Galaxy S11.

The photos show the top and bottom edges of the display panel or better put, the touchscreen digitizer panel that lies on top of the AMOLED screen. The most prominent feature on board is the punch-hole design which is located at the centre. The touchscreen design looks similar to that of the Galaxy Note 10 with just a single selfie camera. The Galaxy S11+ is expected to have a different design with the dual-selfie camera setup.

The bottom half of the display equally reveals a much trimmed down bezels on the chin. However, the bezel is slightly wider than that on the sides. This panel also shows the Galaxy S11 will retain the traditional curved-edge design that Samsung Galaxy models are known for.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 that had gone official earlier this year featured a punch-hole at the top-right corner of the screen for its front camera. The Galaxy Note 10 series that was made official few months ago camera with a punch-hole at the top-center position. The Galaxy S11 renders reveal that its selfie camera will be also available through a top-center positioned cutout on its AMOLED display. There is a very thin earpiece lodged in the top bezel of the phone. The leak reveals that the phone measures 161.9 x 73.7 x 7.8mm. The thickness of the device increases to 8.9mm at the camera bump on the back. The phone could be featuring a glass rear with a metallic frame.

The renders suggest that the display curvature is lesser than that of the Galaxy S10. The leak did not reveal the screen size of the phone. However, popular tipster Evan Blass had claimed that there will be three phone sin the Galaxy S11 series with varying screen sizes of 6.4 or 6.2 inches, 6.7-inches and 6.9 inches. Probably, these phones may debut as Galaxy S11e, Galaxy S11 and Galaxy S11+. The screen of the phone will be integrated with an in-screen fingerprint reader.

The rear side of the Galaxy S11 has a rectangular camera module that includes four cameras arranged in an L-shaped design along with an LED flash. The camera system seems to be housing a laser autofocus module. One of the lenses could be a 3D ToF sensor. Probably, its main lens could be the 108-megapixel Samsung lensv. The edges of the rear shell of the Galaxy S11 are curved towards the edges. The right side of the smartphone features buttons for volume and power. The left edge of the device is barren. The bottom side of the S11 features a microphone, a USB-C port and an external speaker.

As the Samsung Galaxy S11 gets ready for Q1 2020 launch, rumors regarding the device are overflowing the internet. The latest leak from reputed leakster Evan Blass claims that the Galaxy S11 series will be available in three variants with different display sizes. Other highlights include a curved-edge screen and 5G connectivity on all variants. Additionally, Samsung is likely to stick with its traditional mid-February launch date.

According to Blass, the Samsung Galaxy S11 will sport 6.4-inch, 6.7-inch and 6.9-inch curved displays. Samsung apparently has done away with the S10e-style flat panels. While the 6.9-inch variant will only support 5G, the remaining variants will continue to run on the 4G spectrum apart from offering 5G connectivity. In another major revelation this week, XDA Developers has come across mentions of a 108-megapixel resolution mode in the Samsung Galaxy camera app. Hence, it is being speculated that the company may use its 108-megapixel camera sensor on the upcoming Galaxy S series of flagship phones.

Samsung has recently introduced a 108-megapixel camera sensor. Although the setup has only made its way to Xiaomi’s flagship range at the moment, Samsung is likely to introduce the high-resolution sensor on the Galaxy S11 with a few minor enhancements. 

Unlike Samsung’s current lenses that use large pixels to produce 12-megapixel images, the 108-megapixel sensor uses pixel-binning to combine multiple pixels into one high-resolution image. The downside of pixel-binning is greater noise and lower light sensitivity. Samsung overcame this problem with its new ISOCELL sensor that prevents light leakage into adjacent pixels to produce cleaner images.

It’s been just a month since Galaxy S10 launch, and the Korean giant has even started the developement of Galaxy S11. According to Twitter leakster Ice Universe, Samsung has codenamed the Galaxy S11 ‘Picasso,’ after the famous Spanish painter. Unfortunately, the reason behind such a creative name is unknown. The new codename is in line with the Galaxy Note 10’s codename of ‘Da Vinci.’

The new codename suggests the presence of some artistic features on the Galaxy S11. It would be interesting to know the final output by the end of this year via some renders and leaks.

The Galaxy S11 will carry various new advancements over the Galaxy S10. The Korean giant is known to be working on the “full-screen” Infinity display without any punch hole or sliders. It is expected to feature a fully bezel-less design with the under-display camera. It could come up with the processor developed on EUV-based 5 nm FinFET process technology.
