While most brands have been quietly pushing prices up, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is now getting an official price cut just as the newer Galaxy S26 lineup starts gaining attention.

The update was first spotted via tipster Sanju Choudhary (@saaaanjjjuuu), who shared what appeared to be an internal communication from Samsung India. That now seems to be the case, with revised pricing already live on both Amazon India and Samsung’s official website as of writing.

The 12GB + 256GB variant is now listed at ₹1,19,999, down from ₹1,29,999. The 12GB + 512GB model has also seen a slight reduction to ₹1,39,999, though the cut here is far more modest at ₹2,000. Interestingly, the 1TB variant is currently missing from Amazon India listings and doesn’t show a price on Samsung’s website either, suggesting it may be out of stock or quietly phased out for now.

What makes this interesting is the timing. With component costs still fluctuating, many expected older flagships to either hold their price or quietly disappear once the S26 series took over. Instead, Samsung looks like it’s trying to keep the S25 Ultra relevant a bit longer, likely to clear inventory.

And it’s not like the phone suddenly feels outdated. You’re still getting a flagship-grade chip, an almost identical camera setup to the S26 Ultra, S Pen support, and a titanium middle frame, which Samsung replaced with aluminum in the latest model.

In reality, though, MRP is only part of the story. Platforms like Amazon and Flipkart usually stack bank offers, exchange bonuses, and limited-time deals on top of that. With the official price now lower, the effective cost could dip even further.

So while the S26 series may be grabbing headlines for its Privacy Display feature, the S25 Ultra just became a lot more tempting for anyone willing to skip the “latest and greatest” tag.

Samsung is indeed preparing the Galaxy S25 series for One UI 8.5 beta testing, as the first test build has just been spotted on Samsung’s servers. This one will also be based on Android 16, but unlike One UI 8.0, it’s said to bring several major upgrades, along with a host of enhancements.

The first One UI 8.5 test build has surfaced on Samsung’s servers for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, with the PDA build version ZYKP. Such internal builds are not available to the public, but their appearance on the server suggests the public beta release could be just a few weeks away.

As of writing this post, Samsung hasn’t announced anything about One UI 8.5, including the release date or upcoming changes. However, thanks to past leaks, we already know that the new software will debut early next year with the Galaxy S26 series. According to reports, the S26 series will be unveiled in February. As for the One UI 8.5 beta program, it will likely go live in December.

What to expect from One UI 8.5?

Leaked builds of One UI 8.5 in the past have also revealed major changes and upgrades, which suggest it’s a major upgrade, unlike most One UI x.1 upgrades, which used to bring just a few additional features. One UI 8.5 will feature a more customizable Quick Settings panel with the ability to move, resize, and remove toggles or modules. Early leaked builds also show 3D-style icons with realistic depth and shadows, but newer builds show Samsung may be toning down the effect.

Samsung has also made significant visual upgrades to multiple apps, including Gallery, My Files, Phone, and Device Care. The new software may also introduce Now Nudges, which is a proactive AI assistant that works similarly to Google’s Magic Cue. This AI-powered feature learns your routines and provides contextual suggestions exactly when needed, such as quick actions, automatically filling out forms, and bringing back recently used information like passwords or locations when you might need them again.

One UI 8.5 may also add the “Auto Answer with AI” feature in Call Assist, which automatically answers after a preset duration. It can ask callers why they’re calling, transcribe responses, and tell them you’ll call back later. A new Priority Notification feature was also spotted in leaked builds, which uses AI to surface the most important notifications. Oppo recently launched the Find X9 Pro in China and is set to bring it to global markets on October 28. One of the highlights of this phone — at least in terms of numbers — is its 200MP 3x periscope telephoto camera. The module uses Samsung’s ISOCELL HP5 sensor, which measures 1/1.56″ in size.

In comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra still relies on a 10MP sensor for its 3x telephoto camera, measuring just 1/3.52″. The upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra is also rumored to retain most of the same camera hardware as its predecessor. Ice Universe even claimed a downgrade for the 3x telephoto — from 1/3.52″ on the current flagship to 1/3.94″ on the upcoming model, most likely the one used on the base S25. So, it’s worth checking out how the S25 Ultra fares against its Chinese rival — this time, the Find X9 Pro.

Well-known tipster Ice Universe recently posted a side-by-side comparison of 3x telephoto samples from the two phones, showing how those specs translate into real-world results.

At first glance, the images don’t look dramatically different — except for the variation in bokeh. But upon closer inspection, there’s a clear, night-and-day difference in detail — which is exactly the point of having a telephoto camera in the first place. The textures on the leaf and the insect’s body are almost unrecognizable in the S Ultra’s sample.

The results stand in stark contrast to Samsung’s own claims about the imaging prowess of its flagships. “Samsung has always been one step ahead, pushing mobile photography to new heights and ushering in a new era of Galaxy camera technology,” the company noted in its newsroom. It will be interesting to see how much the S26 Ultra can close the gap when it goes up against the next wave of Chinese ultra-flagships — including the Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra — which rely on both cutting-edge hardware and smarter image processing.

Samsung, on the other hand, still uses a 10MP sensor for the 3x periscope telephoto on its S Ultra phones. But since the S Ultra still costs significantly more than the X300 Pro (starting at around $750 in China) and is widely regarded as one of the best camera phones out there, it’s worth seeing how the Galaxy S25 Ultra stacks up against Vivo’s X300 Pro.

The camera samples shared by tipster Ice Universe were taken at 10x and 35x zoom in relatively low-light conditions — and they show just how capable Vivo’s zoom setup really is. At first glance, both 10x samples look similarly saturated. But the X300 Pro preserved textures much better than the S25 Ultra, which suffered from noticeable noise and artifacts. To be fair, it’s not just about sensor size — much of it comes down to image processing, especially noise handling. Moving to the 35x shots, the difference becomes even more apparent.

Perhaps there’s a limit to how much “intelligent” image processing can squeeze out of a sensor design that dates back half a decade. Either way, the difference in final output is clear — and for most users, that alone could be a deal-breaker.

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra hasn’t exactly thrilled enthusiasts either, with most leaks suggesting a nearly unchanged camera setup. There will likely be more “AI-assisted” imaging improvements in the next flagship, but it’ll be interesting to see how that compares against the Vivo X300 Ultra when it launches.

Leaker Ice Universe shared a series of side-by-side photos on X, comparing samples from both phones shot under different lighting conditions. Before diving into the results, it’s worth noting that the ISOCELL HPB is a brand-new sensor being used by Vivo for the first time, while Samsung has spent several generations refining its processing around the HP2. The HP2 is also a bit larger, so expectations for the S25 Ultra naturally remain higher.

Samsung’s S Ultra phones—like the Galaxy S25 Ultra—are still regarded as some of the best camera phones on the market. But Chinese smartphone makers have been striving to improve their imaging prowess too, both by integrating larger optical hardware and by refining image processing. Apple, meanwhile, has moved from 12MP to a fairly large (1/1.28″) 48MP sensor—the same size used on the vivo X200 Ultra.

So how do they stack up in real-world tests? Thanks to Ice Universe, we now have sample images from the iPhone 17 Pro Max, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra taken in different lighting conditions and at various zoom levels.

Starting with the close-up shot against a bright window, two things stand out: the subject in the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s shot appears the darkest, and Xiaomi’s claims about improved dynamic range extend beyond marketing. Apple lands somewhere in the middle. On closer inspection, the S25 Ultra’s sample also shows the most noise—even though this was a daytime shot.

The trend holds in the outdoor daytime photo. The tree appears completely dark in the S25 Ultra’s sample once again, while Xiaomi’s image keeps detail visible.

In well-lit conditions—the easiest scenario—the Xiaomi and Samsung samples look equally detailed, while the iPhone’s appears a bit softer. This is likely because both Android phones applied artificial sharpening (which can sometimes worsen image quality), while the iPhone left textures more natural. The zoomed-in view of the tree on the right highlights this difference.

The S23 Ultra made a big splash with its 200MP headline figure, and Samsung’s image processing was notably better than many early adopters of a 200MP sensor, but rivals have since caught up. As Chinese brands refined image processing while Samsung stuck with the same hardware, the S Ultra line has started to fall behind. More concerning is that the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, set for January 2026, is expected to keep most of the S25 Ultra’s camera hardware. Samsung may instead try to push AI-driven enhancements while keeping its bill of materials (BoM) flat—or lower.

Samsung’s goal has clearly been to prioritize design aesthetics over the largest possible camera hardware. But as Ice Universe shows, the protrusion of the S26 Ultra’s camera island is already close to that of the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. That means Samsung could have room to redesign the internals for more ambitious upgrades. “Samsung’s ultra-wide camera is underwhelming in specs yet occupies an excessive amount of space within the bump, which is a waste. Meanwhile, Xiaomi cleverly integrates its ultra-wide lens inside the body,” the tipster noted.

Durability is always a hot topic when new flagships launch, and this year the conversation has centered on Apple’s switch back to aluminum for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Samsung, on the other hand, has stuck with titanium on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. A new drop test from YouTube channel PhoneBuff puts the two side by side to see how the materials hold up in real-world falls.

The test used a robotic drop rig to ensure consistency, dropping both phones from 1 and 1.5 meters onto a rough sidewalk-like surface. First up was a drop on the back. Both devices cracked, but in different ways. The S25 Ultra’s rigid titanium frame transferred shock across the entire glass panel, resulting in widespread shattering and even damage around the cameras. The iPhone’s softer aluminum frame absorbed some of the impact, limiting cracks mostly to the smaller glass section, leaving its cameras intact.

Corner drops told a different story. The Galaxy’s titanium held firm with only light scuffing, while the iPhone dented more noticeably—evidence of aluminum’s softer nature. On face-down drops, both screens broke, though Apple’s Ceramic Shield showed some improvement compared to previous models.

At the higher 1.5-meter drops, damage became more severe. The S25 Ultra’s rear glass and camera lens covers were almost completely shattered, while the iPhone picked up additional cracks but still managed to keep its camera lenses intact on the outside.

Apple has previously warned that vibrations—like those from high-powered motorcycle engines—can affect iPhone cameras, and that seems to show here as well. Although the lenses appeared fine on the surface, the main camera lost its ability to focus after the impact.

PhoneBuff scored Samsung slightly ahead overall, but called the result a near tie: aluminum absorbs impacts better across surfaces, while titanium is tougher at pressure points. The takeaway is clear: neither device is immune to drops, and at these prices, a good case remains the best insurance.

Just days after the stable One UI 8 rollout began for the Galaxy S25 series, traces of One UI 8.5 have been spotted on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The early appearance suggests Samsung is moving faster than usual with its mid-cycle software refresh.

The stable One UI 8, built on Android 16, brings tweaks to Galaxy AI, more customization tools, and smoother performance. The rollout is still making its way across regions. But while users are still waiting for that, a test build for One UI 8.5 has already popped up on Samsung’s servers.

The firmware carries the version number S938BXXU5CYIA/S938BOXM5CYIA/S938BXXU5CYIA. It can’t be downloaded—Samsung patched the loophole that once allowed sideloading test builds—but its presence is enough to confirm development is well underway.

So what’s in it? Nothing official yet, but past mid-cycle updates have brought UI refinements, smoother animations, and extra Galaxy AI features. It’s possible One UI 8.5 will follow the same path.

Interestingly, developer @Feruzbek_101 managed to get a test build running on his Galaxy S21+. He shared a few images that reveal some of the early UI tweaks.

Samsung is also working in parallel on the Galaxy S26 series, which means One UI 8.5 might launch first with that hardware before it reaches current S25 owners. If so, it could be early 2026 before S25 Ultra users see the stable version.

Still, the fact that it’s already showing up is a good sign. Samsung’s software teams are clearly pushing updates quicker, keeping pressure on rivals like Google and Xiaomi. Expect more leaks in the coming months.

Samsung and Apple have gone head-to-head in another camera battle, this time focused on zoom. Popular reviewer SuperSaf recently compared the Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max across different zoom ranges, and the outcome wasn’t quite what many expected.

Starting at 3x zoom, Samsung looked strong. Thanks to its dedicated telephoto lens, the S25 Ultra produced crisper and more natural images than Apple, which relies on a crop from the main sensor at that level. For anyone shooting quick portraits or closer details, Samsung has the early edge.

Things turned around at 4x. That’s where Apple brings in its own telephoto hardware, and the results were immediately sharper and cleaner than Samsung’s hybrid approach. From 4x through about 4.9x, the iPhone delivered photos with noticeably better definition and less noise.

At 5x, both phones came out nearly tied, with similar sharpness and detail. From there up to 10x, it was hard to declare a clear winner, as both held up well in everyday scenarios.

When zooming way in at 20x and even 40x, the Galaxy S25 Ultra started to show its strength again. Under good lighting, Samsung’s image processing pulled out finer details, especially when capturing distant signs or text.

But in low light, the iPhone stole the show. Its larger telephoto sensor consistently produced brighter, more usable shots at every zoom level, while the S25 Ultra struggled with grain and artifacts due to artificial sharpening.

In the end, Samsung still has the edge in extreme daylight zoom, but Apple’s strong noise control, especially in low-light, makes this one of the closest battles yet between the two brands.

For those curious, here’s a comparison between the S25 Ultra and last year’s iPhone 16 Pro Max, which shows just how much Apple has improved with the latest model. On Samsung’s side, the upcoming S26 Ultra, expected in January, is rumored to keep almost the same imaging hardware as the S25 Ultra, with a stronger push toward AI-based image enhancements, similar to what we’ve seen with Google’s Pixel 10 series.

Sticking to its promise, Samsung has finally started the rollout of stable One UI 8.0, based on Android 16. This major upgrade brings a host of new features and improvements throughout the software, better AI capabilities, and keeps the device safer and secure.

Galaxy S25 models getting the first bite

It was already confirmed that the Galaxy S25 will be the first phone to receive stable One UI 8 update when the rollout begins, and now it’s getting the update. The update is currently available for Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra users in South Korea. It comes with a firmware version BYI3, and the download size varies depending on whether you’re a beta tester or not.

Those already running One UI 8 beta on their Galaxy S25 are receiving a smaller update that weighs around 550MB. That’s because major changes have already been installed into beta devices via beta builds. The latest update changes the beta state to stable and brings minor improvements. For other users, the update weighs around 3.9GB.

The stable One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S25 series is currently rolling out in South Korea, but it shouldn’t be long before users in other regions also start getting the update. You can head over to Settings > Software updates and tap on Download and install to see if it’s available for your device.

What’s the surprise here that is mentioned in the title? Well, it’s the stable update for the Galaxy S25 Edge (more on that below).

Stable One UI 8 update also arrives for Galaxy S25 Edge

The Galaxy S25 Edge, launched in May, was not a part of the One UI 8 beta program. Hence, we were expecting the stable update to take time once it begins for the regular S25 models, but it turns out the S25 Edge has already started getting the update. It’s currently available in South Korea, with more regions to follow soon.

It appears that Samsung is moving quickly with the One UI 8 rollout. With half of this month still to go, we strongly believe that more Galaxy devices will receive the stable update later this month. That might include the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Samsung has already confirmed that it will complete the stable rollout of One UI 8.0 to all eligible Galaxy devices before the end of the year, and the latest actions also suggest the same.

Display quality

Google gave the Pixel 10 Pro XL a strong 6.8-inch LTPO OLED panel that reaches up to 3300 nits of peak brightness. That makes it one of the brightest displays on any phone. The resolution is sharp at 1344 x 2992 pixels with HDR10+ support.

Samsung counters with a slightly larger 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X panel at 1440 x 3120 pixels. Peak brightness is lower on paper at 2600 nits, but Samsung balances this with an anti-reflective coating and better outdoor visibility. More importantly, the S25 Ultra stretches the display to a 92.5% screen-to-body ratio, meaning less bezel and more immersive viewing.

The Pixel looks great indoors, but Samsung’s combination of panel tech, anti-reflective layer, and higher resolution means it’s simply easier to use in real-world conditions.

Performance and hardware

Performance is where Samsung pulls ahead most clearly. The Pixel 10 Pro XL uses Google’s Tensor G5, a chip built on 3nm but optimized mainly for AI workloads and photography. Google has done an incredible job using AI to squeeze more out of its camera hardware. The Pixel 10 Pro XL can take some of the best still photos on the market. 

It now even supports 100X Pro Res Zoom, which leverages its 48MP telephoto lens and Tensor G5’s AI compute to fill in the lost details. Besides this, it comes with a 50MP main sensor and a 48MP ultrawide. 

Samsung, on the other hand, is betting more on the hardware. The S25 Ultra has four rear lenses, including a 200-megapixel main sensor, a dedicated 3x telephoto, a 5x periscope zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide. That variety means you can shoot in almost any situation without relying entirely on software correction.

The Pixel’s AI tricks work well, but Samsung’s setup offers more flexibility in real-world shooting. For someone who uses their phone as their only camera, the S25 Ultra’s quad system is the safer bet.

Software and features

Both phones promise seven years of Android updates, which puts them at the top of the industry for longevity. The Pixel 10 Pro XL launches with Android 16, while Samsung ships the S25 Ultra with Android 15 and One UI 7.

Google keeps its software clean and emphasizes AI tools like Circle to Search, Best Take, and skin temperature monitoring. Samsung includes most of the same AI features but pairs them with extras like Samsung DeX (a desktop mode via wired or wireless display), better multitasking tools, and deeper customization.

So all of these flagships combined stood no chance against Samsung’s top flagship.

This can be attributed to the company’s strong global presence, unlike its Chinese competitors. The X200 Ultra, Find X8 Ultra, and Xiaomi 15 Ultra can be seen as more advanced devices in many ways when compared to the S25 Ultra, especially when you talk about camera or battery technology. However, Samsung took a different direction, sticking to a slimmer (skipping the large camera module) and more refined design.

According to X tipster @chunvn8888, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will pack a 5,500mAh battery—up from the 5,000mAh cell in its predecessor. While the 10% bump is a welcome change, it still falls short of the massive 6,000mAh+ batteries seen in most Chinese rivals. However, Samsung appears to be making up for it with other improvements.

The bigger story might be the 65W wired charging support. This would be the fastest charging speed ever offered on a Samsung phone, finally moving beyond the 45W cap that’s been in place since the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Wireless charging is also getting a boost. The S26 Ultra is expected to support 25W wireless speeds using the new Qi2 standard. It might require a magnetic case for optimal performance, but it’s still a notable jump for Samsung in the wireless charging space.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

Samsung doesn’t brand the Galaxy S25 Ultra as a gaming phone, but it’s easily one of the most capable in 2025. It has a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with 2600 nits peak brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate. That’s not the highest refresh rate on this list, but it’s fast and responsive enough for most games.

More importantly, the S25 Ultra uses a tuned version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, with slightly higher clock speeds (up to 4.47GHz). While it doesn’t have physical gaming triggers or an active cooling fan, its thermal control is reliable. The titanium build and refined design make it a more comfortable daily phone than either the ROG or RedMagic.

Armed with the A18 Pro chip, Apple’s own silicon continues to outperform in raw single-core scores and graphical efficiency. You might not get cooling fans or gaming triggers, but iOS game optimization means games often run smoother with lower power draw.

The 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED also supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 2000 nits HBM brightness — not quite as bright as Samsung or Asus, but consistent and vibrant. Unlike Android phones, Apple uses NVMe storage, which gives faster read/write speeds than UFS, even though RAM is limited to 8GB.

Cameras on the 16 Pro Max are arguably the best here, especially the 5x telephoto with 3D sensor-shift stabilization and Spatial Video support. You can also be sure of the battery life here, thanks to Apple’s tight software-hardware integration. 

If you prefer Apple’s ecosystem and care more about frame pacing than max FPS, this is the most polished option, but not the most flexible one for hardcore gaming.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 Ultra with mostly unchanged internals, wrapping them in a redesigned exterior. The middle frame adopted rounded corners and sharper edges, while the camera modules were made larger.

To achieve that bolder look, Samsung added metal rings on top of the largely unchanged optical hardware, which did enhance the rear design. However, it now appears that even these minimally functional camera rings are facing cost-cutting consequences—they’re coming off during regular use.

X user @parthosarathi_b shared images of his Galaxy S25 Ultra with one of the camera rings missing, claiming it happened under normal usage. “No drops, no damage,” he noted.

Samsung India promptly responded to his post, and the user visited an official service center, where the missing camera ring was replaced—hopefully with sufficient adhesive this time. Reports suggest that loose glue is the root cause, and there have been multiple similar incidents.

YouTuber JerryRigEverything had previously shown that the rings can be pried off fairly easily using a razor blade, though many dismissed it as unrealistic since no one uses a phone that way. But unfortunately, time is telling a different story.

While Samsung is addressing the issue under warranty and responding to affected users, the outlook for the Galaxy S26 Ultra doesn’t look much brighter. Despite early rumors of a silicon-carbon battery and 65W fast charging, a recent leak suggests those upgrades won’t be arriving in 2026.

The 7th-generation book-style foldable, set to launch sometime in mid-July, is expected to bring an actual redesign and compete with Chinese foldables not just through software features, but also with a thinner and lighter form factor.

Samsung India recently sparked speculation about a new color option for the Galaxy S25 Ultra with a teaser image captioned “Dark. Bold. Ultra.” However, the post has since been deleted, confirming that no new color variant is in the works—at least not anytime soon. This means the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s current color lineup remains unchanged for now.

Galaxy S25 Ultra available color options

The device currently offers seven color options, with four available globally: Titanium Black, Titanium Gray, Titanium Silverblue, and Titanium Whitesilver. The remaining three—Titanium Jadegreen, Titanium Jetblack, and Titanium Pinkgold—are exclusive to Samsung’s online store. The teaser image hinted at another dark hue, but with two black variants already available, the addition seemed redundant.

Last year, Samsung introduced a Titanium Yellow variant for the Galaxy S24 Ultra in June, several months after its initial launch. However, this color was announced at the same time as the other options and simply took longer to hit the market. In contrast, there is no delayed color option planned for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

While the teaser initially raised hopes for a fresh color choice, Samsung’s decision to remove the post suggests that they are, indeed, sticking to the currently available color options. For now, Galaxy S25 Ultra buyers will have to choose from the existing seven colors, which cater to a wide range of preferences.

Apart from the new color options, and the rounded corners, the raw performance and power efficiency of the S25 Ultra have also improved as compared to last year’s Ultra model. As 2025 approaches, smartphone enthusiasts are already looking ahead to what’s shaping up to be another competitive year in the high-end flagship market. If you’re someone who only upgrades when the biggest and most powerful models hit the shelves, the “Ultra” segment is where you’ll want to focus your attention. 

Next year, four major players are lining up their most ambitious releases yet: the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Vivo X200 Ultra, Oppo Find X8 Ultra, and Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

These phones will deliver the best set of camera technology, performance, and design, but the real question is—which one will stand out? Let’s break down what we know (and what we can reasonably expect) from each device.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

Samsung’s Ultra series has long been the benchmark for high-end Android phones, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra isn’t likely to stray far from this formula. If history is any indication, the S25 Ultra will build on the successes of its predecessor, focusing on subtle but meaningful improvements rather than radical redesigns.

The S25 Ultra will likely retain its signature boxy, industrial design but with more rounded edges this time. Its front will feature a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, similar to previous models. 

The OLED panel is expected to maintain a resolution of 1440 by 3080 pixels, offering a sharpness of over 500ppi. As a result, individual pixels will remain indistinguishable. Samsung is also likely to continue refining its S Pen integration, keeping it as the go-to choice for productivity-minded users.

On the camera front, the S25 Ultra is expected to upgrade its ultrawide lens to a new 50MP ISOCELL JN3 sensor. The other three cameras—the 200MP main, 10MP telephoto with 3x zoom, and 50MP telephoto with 5x zoom—are likely to remain unchanged.

Powering the S25 Ultra will likely be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, built by TSMC and officially announced in October 2024. The chipset’s two performance cores reach clock speeds of up to 4GHz, a significant leap from the 3.3GHz offered by the Cortex-X4 on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The S25 Ultra has also been spotted on Geekbench, confirming its use of this powerful SoC.

Vivo X200 Ultra

Vivo might not have the global footprint of Samsung, but the X series has consistently impressed with its camera-first approach. The X200 Ultra is expected to double down on that strategy, catering to photography enthusiasts who prioritize camera hardware above all else.

The X200 Ultra is rumored to sport a 50MP main sensor, though it might forego the 1-inch size of its predecessor for a smaller 1/1.3″ sensor. 

The brand took a similar approach with the X200 Pro, which launched in October. Vivo swapped out its 1-inch Sony IMX 989 sensor from the X100 Pro for a slightly smaller 1/1.28” lens on the X200 Pro. 

The company, however, claims this new sensor should perform as well as the previous one, and possibly better in certain situations. We assume Vivo might take a similar approach with the X200 Ultra, though the exact camera sensor is still unknown. 

On the performance front, the X200 Ultra will likely run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It’s expected to feature a 2K resolution display with a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering a premium viewing experience over the 1.5K screens of the base and Pro variants. The device could also pack a powerful 6,000mAh battery, supporting 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Oppo Find X8 Ultra

Oppo’s Find X series has always combined premium design with powerful performance, and the Find X8 Ultra looks set to continue that legacy.

The Find X8 Ultra is rumored to feature a micro-quad-curved screen, enhancing its immersive feel. It will likely sport a 6.82-inch BOE X2 LTPO OLED panel with a 2K+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate—possibly the same display debuting on the OnePlus 13.

The camera upgrades on the new model will likely be subtle, yet they remain impactful. The Find X8 Ultra is expected to retain its one-inch primary sensor and periscope telephoto lenses, now with slight focal length adjustments. 

We can also expect 3x and 6x periscope cameras for versatile zoom capabilities. And Oppo will also integrate a Hasselblad multi-spectral sensor to improve color accuracy and low-light performance.

Oppo will also be focusing on durability. The Find X8 Ultra is expected to carry an IP68/69 rating for water and dust resistance. Security-wise, it will feature a single-point ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, ensuring faster and more reliable unlocks.

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Find X8 Ultra will likely offer up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage in its premium models.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra

Last but not least, we have Xiaomi 15 Ultra. It is expected to feature a 6.73-inch AMOLED panel that features a micro-quad-curved design. It will offer a 2K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor. The device will run on HyperOS 2-based Android 15.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and a 6,000mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging support. The 15 Ultra is expected to arrive with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

For selfies, it is expected to feature a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear camera setup of the device will have a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-900 primary camera with OIS support, a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 ultra-wide snapper, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 telephoto camera, and a 200-megapixel Samsung HP9 periscope telephoto camera with support for up to 100x AI-driven hybrid zoom.

The Ultra smartphone category in 2025 will bring some of the most ambitious designs and features to market, with each brand taking a unique approach.
