New case leaks are giving us another early look at Samsung’s next flagship series. Photos of protective cases shared by a well-known tipster Ice Universe show four distinct devices. The Galaxy S27 and S27+ appear to stick with a familiar setup: separate protruding camera cutouts similar to recent generations.

The Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra, though, look set for something different. It’s a horizontal, large-matrix design placed toward the top of the phone, reaffirming recent renders and marking a clear break from the vertical camera layout Samsung has used for years.

The change likely frees up more internal space for larger image sensors and better cooling. However, leaks so far do not suggest any notable improvement in sensor size, except for the most recent leak about a 4x telephoto on the Ultra.

The full Galaxy S27 lineup is expected to land in the first quarter of 2027, most likely sometime between January and February. All four models have already shown up in GSMA certification listings under the numbers SM-S952B (S27), SM-S956B (S27+), SM-S957B (S27 Pro), and SM-S958B (S27 Ultra).

The S27 Pro is a new addition aimed at people who want something closer to the Ultra but in a more compact form. Think of it as a small-screen Ultra without the S Pen. It’s expected to have around a 6.4″-6.6″ display while sharing the main and ultrawide camera hardware with the Ultra, essentially bridging the gap between the regular models and the top flagship.

The whole series is expected to use 2nm-process chips. Depending on the region, that could mean Samsung’s own Exynos 2700 or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro made by TSMC. There are also reports that Samsung might bring BOE on as an OLED panel supplier for the first time in the S series, and that the phones could support Qi2 magnetic wireless charging.

These case leaks add to the growing sense that the Galaxy S27 series will mix the usual refinements with some more visible design changes.

Leaked CAD models suggest Samsung is looking at some pretty big design changes for its next Ultra flagship, including a new camera arrangement and possibly even different sizes.

Well-known leaker Sonny Dickson has shared CAD renders that appear to show two slightly different sizes for what was first thought to be the Galaxy S27 Ultra. The side buttons sit in different positions on each model, which has sparked talk that Samsung might offer the Ultra in two sizes, a bit like how Apple does with its differently sized Pro phones. Another possibility is that the smaller one is actually the rumored Galaxy S27 Pro.

The designs also point to a new camera plateau on the back. Some people have noted that it looks quite a bit like the iPhone 17 Pro’s camera island, which would be a clear break from Samsung’s long-standing vertical camera setup. A camera hardware refresh is widely seen as overdue at this point. In particular, the current 3x telephoto, built around a small 1/3.94-inch 10MP sensor, is expected to be dropped. Getting rid of it could free up space inside for bigger batteries and maybe even allow magnets around a Qi2 charging coil.

Earlier leaks also suggest the four-year-old ISOCELL HP2 main sensor could be replaced by something more modern, like a 200MP ISOCELL HPC that might handle 3x–5x zoom as well.

In a follow-up, leaker Ice Universe clarified that the smaller CAD model is actually the Galaxy S27 Pro rather than a second Ultra size. According to him, both the S27 Ultra and S27 Pro would get the new camera plateau design. Of course, this is still unofficial and should be taken with a grain of salt until Samsung confirms anything.

These CAD-based claims give us an early (and still speculative) look at what Samsung might be planning for its 2027 flagships. We’ll have to wait until much closer to the official launch for solid details on the design, cameras, and exact model lineup.

Had both models shared the same 3x telephoto camera, their camera systems would have overlapped significantly. By taking different approaches, Samsung can give each device a more distinct identity.

That said, the inclusion of a 12MP 3x telephoto on the Galaxy S27 Pro may disappoint Galaxy fans hoping for a compact yet capable flagship. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to rely on sensor cropping from its primary camera to cover the 1x to 5x zoom range. AI-powered improvements to the image processing pipeline will certainly help enhance image clarity in post-processing, but their real-world impact will be worth watching rather than taking for granted.

Notably, both the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra are expected to use Samsung’s new 200MP ISOCELL HP6 sensor. For context, the ISOCELL HP2 used in the last four generations of S Ultra phones measures 1/1.3″. Samsung has consistently pursued smaller sensor designs in its high-resolution lineup, with the ISOCELL HP3 measuring 1/1.4 inches and the ISOCELL HP5 shrinking further to 1/1.56 inches. The latter is nearly the same size as the 50MP ISOCELL GN3, which has served as the primary sensor in Samsung’s standard Galaxy S models since the Galaxy S23.

The biggest claimed upgrade is on the ultra-wide cameras of the Pro and Ultra. Both are supposedly switching to Sony’s IMX855 sensor, a 1/2.55-inch sensor with 0.7µm pixels. That’s a change from the Samsung ISOCELL JN3 (50MP) ultra-wide on the current S26 Ultra.

For context, the S26 Ultra uses a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP2 main camera (with a brighter f/1.4 aperture), a 50MP Sony IMX854 5x telephoto, and a 12MP Sony IMX874 front camera. On the S27 Pro and Ultra, the selfie camera is expected to jump to a new 16MP Samsung sensor with autofocus. Some database entries even hint that the Pro’s front camera might get optical image stabilization.

The base S27 and S27+ look more modest. They’re said to stick with a 50MP main camera that has OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a zoom camera whose exact resolution and zoom level still aren’t clear. So Samsung seems to be keeping the usual split, saving its best hardware for the Pro and Ultra.

WinFuture has a pretty solid track record with early Galaxy hardware info. The move to a new Sony ultra-wide and a better front camera with autofocus (and possible OIS) feels more like steady refinement than a radical overhaul.

We’ll almost certainly hear more about the main and telephoto sensors, processing tweaks, and camera features as development continues. For now, these early details suggest Samsung is focused on stronger stabilization.

Instead of giving it near-identical imaging hardware to the flagship Ultra (as some earlier rumors suggested), the Pro is now shaping up as the sensible middle child: stronger than the regular S27 but not quite the photography beast the Ultra will be.

Now it looks like the Pro will share only some camera components with the Ultra and borrow more specs from the base S27 and S27+ models. In other words, the S27 Pro could end up filling the exact spot many enthusiasts have wanted the base model to occupy: compact, but noticeably more capable.

That said, broader leaks point to some meaningful camera upgrades across the board. Both the Pro and Ultra are rumored to finally get a 16MP front camera, Samsung’s first selfie sensor jump in years, moving on from that old 12MP unit.

On the back, both the Pro and Ultra are still expected to feature a 200MP main sensor. However, their telephoto setups will likely differ quite a bit. Samsung is reportedly dropping the dedicated 3x telephoto lens on the Ultra, relying instead on digital zoom and AI to cover focal lengths from 1x up to around 5x before switching to its periscope telephoto. Details are still scarce, but the Pro is unlikely to get the Ultra’s higher-end 5x periscope. This difference should help clearly justify the Ultra’s premium price and top-tier positioning.

If it wasn’t for the Galaxy S26 series, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 series is almost confirmed to get a new member. Three unreleased Samsung devices have shown up in the GSMA IMEI database, and one of them is listed as the Galaxy S27 Pro.

The three model numbers are SM-S956U ( for Galaxy S27 Plus), SM-S957B/DS ( for Galaxy S27 Pro), and SM-S958U ( for Galaxy S27 Ultra). Meanwhile, the base Galaxy S27 has already appeared on the certification earlier this month. This confirms that Samsung will launch four phones under the Galaxy S27 series: the S27, S27 Plus, S27 Pro, and S27 Ultra. Samsung may also release a Galaxy S27 FE later in 2027.

The Pro model will sit between the S27 Plus and the S27 Ultra. Samsung has used the Pro name before on devices like the Galaxy Note Pro, XCover6 Pro, J7 Pro, and even a keyboard phone called the Galaxy Pro back in 2010. However, this will be the first time a Pro model will join the main Galaxy S flagship series.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro Expected Specs

The Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to come with a 6.47-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen. It will not include an S Pen, though. For cameras, it could feature a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide with autofocus, and a 50MP telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom. The front camera is expected to be 12MP.

On the inside, the phone is likely to run on a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro for Galaxy chip, with at least 12GB RAM, 256GB UFS 5.0 storage, a 5000mAh battery, and 45W or faster charging.

The S27 Pro is also said to include a hardware-level privacy screen, a feature previously limited to the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
