Samsung has rolled out a new software update for the Galaxy Tab A9+, and it addresses the annoying refresh rate issues alongside other lag and stuttering issues users have been experiencing. The update (firmware version X216BXXS6CYB5) also includes the February 2025 security patch.

Prior to the update, several users reported that the Galaxy Tab A9+ failed to deliver the expected smoothness even when the 90Hz refresh rate (Adaptive) option was selected. Instead, the tablet exhibited screen fluidity closer to 60Hz, which led to a subpar user experience.

After installing the latest update, users on platforms like Reddit have noted significant improvements in performance and screen responsiveness. According to some users, the 90Hz refresh rate now functioning as intended.

Few people also reported increased battery drain

While the update has largely been well-received, some users have reported increased battery drain after installing the update. But this is a very common issue after an update and often it just takes some time for the device to optimize itself based on the usage pattern.

Galaxy Tab A9+ owners can check for the update by navigating to Settings » Software update » Download and install. For those who prefer manual installation, the firmware file is available for download via Samsung’s firmware database and can be flashed using the Odin tool on a Windows PC.
