<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 as the first model in the Galaxy Tab S flagship tablet series in 2014. This tablet came in two variants &#8211; WiFi and LTE. The former was powered by </span><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Exynos/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Exynos</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> 5420, whereas the latter featured </span><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Qualcomm/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Qualcomm</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> Snapdragon 800.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The main highlight of this product was its 8.4-inch WQXGA (1600 x 2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display. It debted with Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) and was updated up to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has been over 6 years since this product was released and its software support has ended years ago.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Despite that, the WiFi variant of the </span><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Samsung/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Samsung</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> Galaxy Tab S 8.4 with model number </span><b>SM-T700</b><span style="font-weight: 400"> is now receiving a new update with firmware version </span><b>T700XXU1CTK1</b><span style="font-weight: 400"> in Europe. This update rollout was first reported by </span><a href="https://www.galaxyclub.nl/nieuws/samsung-rolt-update-uit-voor-6-jaar-oude-tablet/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400">GalaxyClub</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and since they don’t have access to this old tablet, the changelog for this new build is not known.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Also, it is not sure if this update will be made available for other regions as well as the LTE variant. Anyway, if you still happen to have this tablet lying around somewhere in working condition, then do try updating it.</span></p>
