The Snapdragon 855 chipset powered device was found to be the upcoming Galaxy Tab S5 tablet. Now, <a href="https://www.galaxyclub.nl/nieuws/ja-ook-samsungs-aankomende-galaxy-tab-s5-heeft-standaard-een-s-pen-stylus/"><em>Galaxyclub.nl</em></a> has shared some vital information on the tablet and has claimed that it may go official at some time in August.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/06/09/samsung-galaxy-tab-s5-appears-on-geekbench-powered-by-snapdragon-855/">Geekbench listing of the Galaxy Tab S5</a> had revealed that it will be fueled by the Snapdragon 855 chipset and 6 GB of RAM. It will come preloaded with Android 9 Pie OS. According to the publication, the Galaxy Tab S5 will be arriving with its own S-Pen stylus.</p>
<p>In February, Samsung had launched a low powered <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-tab-s5e">Galaxy Tab S5e</a>. The Snapdragon 670 SoC fueled tablet did not feature an S-Pen stylus. It was made available with a budget-friendly price tag of 399 euros. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-tab-s4">Galaxy Tab S4</a> that was introduced last year had arrived with 699 euros price tag. Hence, it is likely that the Galaxy Tab S5 may also carry a similar price tag. The Tab S4 with model numbers SM-T830 and SM-T835 were made available as its Wi-Fi only and LTE variants. There is a possibility that the Galaxy Tab S5 may also come in Wi-Fi only (SM-T860) and LTE (SM-T865) variants.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/galaxy-tab-s5e-featured/" rel="attachment wp-att-236630"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-236630" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Galaxy-Tab-S5e-featured.jpg?x44794" alt="Galaxy Tab S5e featured" width="720" height="420" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Galaxy-Tab-S5e-featured.jpg 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Galaxy-Tab-S5e-featured-300x175.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<h4 style="text-align: center"><span style="font-weight: 400"><div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"></span><b><span style="color: #ff0000">Editor&#8217;s Pick:</span> </b><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/25/samsung-develops-a-deepfake-ai-able-to-create-a-video-of-you-from-a-photo/"><b>Samsung’s deepfake AI can Create your Video from a Single Photo</b></a><span style="font-weight: 400"></div></div></span></h4>
<p>There is no information available on the other specs and features of the Galaxy Tab S5. The South Korean tech giant had axed the 3.5mm audio jack in the Galaxy Tab S5e to achieve a thinner design. Hence, there is a chance that the upcoming Galaxy Tab S5 may lack a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Android 9 Pie OS on the device could be overlaid with the latest One UI from the company. The Galaxy Tab S4 did not feature a fingerprint scanner and it featured an iris scanner for user authentication. The Galaxy Tab S5 may also lack a fingerprint reader.</p>
<p>Last year, the Galaxy Tab S4 was introduced more or less at the same time as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note-9">Galaxy Note 9</a> in August. A recent report had claimed that Samsung may debut the Galaxy Note 10 on Aug. 10. Probably, the Tab S5 may go official around the same time. It may hit the market at the beginning of September.</p>

It is also Samsung&#8217;s slimmest tablet so far. Now it seems the main flagship tablet &#8211; the Galaxy Tab S5 &#8211; is coming soon based on a new Geekbench listing.</p>
<p>The device which was benchmarked yesterday has the model number SM-T865. The benchmark result shows it has 6GB of RAM and runs Android 9 Pie. The tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 855 processor just like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/?post_type=aps-products&amp;s=S10">Galaxy S10</a> series. Its single-core score is 3506 while its multi-core score is 9788. The latter is low compared to that of other devices powered by the same chipset as a lot of them score over 10,000 points.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-257977" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Samsung-SM-T865.png?x44794" alt="Samsung SM-T865" width="606" height="579" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Samsung-SM-T865.png 606w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Samsung-SM-T865-300x287.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Samsung-SM-T865-440x420.png 440w" sizes="(max-width: 606px) 100vw, 606px" /></p>
<p>We are in the dark with respect to the rest of the specs and even its design but we have a few guesses. First, the audio jack might be removed on the Galaxy Tab S5. Samsung already removed the audio jack in the Galaxy Tab S5e to achieve its impressively thin design, so there is a chance the Tab S5 may follow suit. The screen size may remain unchanged but the bezels may get smaller.</p>
<p>We are not sure if Samsung will bring back the fingerprint scanner and put it on the side like on the S5e. If it doesn&#8217;t, we will have to make do with an Iris Scanner. Lastly, When the tablet launches, it should also come with the new One UI interface.</p>

However, none of these are flagship tablets which isn&#8217;t surprising. The Galaxy Tab S5 is expected to be the flagship tablet for 2019 and it seems it will come with the Snapdragon 855 like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s10-exynos/">Galaxy S10</a> series.</p>
<figure id="attachment_236985" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-236985" style="width: 500px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-236985" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S5e-LTE-Tablet.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e LTE Tablet" width="500" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S5e-LTE-Tablet.jpg 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S5e-LTE-Tablet-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S5e-LTE-Tablet-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S5e-LTE-Tablet-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-236985" class="wp-caption-text">Galaxy Tab S5e</figcaption></figure>
<p>In the past, the Galaxy Tab S flagship tablets usually have an older flagship processor different from the one in the flagship Galaxy S/Note series smartphones released in the same year. For example, the Galaxy Tab S4 released last year is powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor and not the Snapdragon 845 found in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s9/">Galaxy S9</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note9-sd845/">Galaxy Note9</a>.</p>
<p>This year&#8217;s Galaxy Tab S5 will most likely come with the Snapdragon 855 based on findings carried out by <em>XDA-Developers</em>. The evidence was found in the defconfig file of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-fold/">Galaxy Fold</a>. The file contains a list of Samsung devices powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855.</p>
<p>The list includes the Galaxy S10 series, the Galaxy Fold, a 5G modem for Verizon and a device which is listed as D2Q which is believed to be the Galaxy Note 10. Alongside all these devices is another listed as GTS5L. This is believed to be the Galaxy Tab S5 as its predecessors &#8211; the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-tab-s3-9-7/">Galaxy Tab S3</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-tab-s4/">Galaxy Tab S4</a> have the codenames GTS3L and GTS4L respectively.</p>
<p>Seeing as the defconfig file is for all Samsung Snapdragon 855 devices, then the Galaxy Tab S5 will come with the chipset too. The other specs are unknown and that isn&#8217;t surprising as there is still about 6 months before it launches. That is if Samsung follows the Tab S4&#8217;s release date.</p>

<p>Going by the design of the Tab S5e, we expect the Galaxy Tab S5 will also be stunning with thinner bezels. It should also have an (improved) S Pen which the S5e lacks.</p>
