Following the launch of the Galaxy Tab S6 5G in January 2020, Samsung came up with a Lite version of the product three months later. The Lite version, replaced the AMOLED display with an LCD one and the Snapdragon 855+ with the in-house Exynos 9611. Later on, the company released two iterations of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite in 2022 and 2024. So let’s take a look at what’s different between the iterations.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2024 vs 2022 vs 2020

To begin with, there are a lot of similarities between the three. However, there are some improvements in the two iterations which we are going to discuss here.

Design and Build

All the three tablets, surprisingly, come with the exact same build, design, and size. They offer an aluminum body and a glass front. Looking on the back you see a single camera module, which doesn’t stick out unlike many of its competitors. It makes it easier for you to work with the tablet placing it on a table without wobbles.

While all three models offer a dual speaker setup, the speakers sound slightly richer in the newer models. All the models also come with a stylus in the box, which also attaches magnetically to the side of the device.

Performance and Storage

Moving on to the performance, here are some notable hardware differences.

• Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2020 – Exynos 9611
• Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2022 – Snapdragon 720G
• Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2024 – octa-core CPU (reportedly Exynos 1280)

The Exynos 9611 chip is a well-known one that describes many of Exynos’s traits such as inefficient operation and heating. In comparison, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2022’s Snapdragon 720G chip is a lot more capable and offers a stable performance as well.

Just to give you an idea, here are the Geekbench scores:

When it comes to the latest 2024 edition, the chip has a 4+4 architecture (4×2.4 GHz & 4×2.0 GHz), which is similar to the 2020 edition’s Exynos 9611. According to a previous report, this is the company’s in-house Exynos 1280 chip, which has also performed similarly in Geekbench.

All three versions come with 4GB RAM and an optional 64GB or 128GB storage.

Display, Battery, and Charging

All three editions offer a 10.4-inch TFT LCD panel (not the best, but there’s an alternative that we’ll discuss later) and a single camera on the back and front. You can get an idea of the width of the display borders from the image. It’s basically the same.

The display offers a pixel density of 224 PPI with a resolution of 1200 x 2000, which is reasonable considering the price.

All the iterations come with a Li-Po 7040 mAh battery along with 15W charging support.

Android Version and Updates

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2020) was released with Android 10 and offered 3 major OS updates. So, it won’t get Android 14.

Coming to the Tab S6 Lite (2022), it was released with Android 12 and should be updated to Android 15. Lastly, the new 2024 model comes equipped with Android 14, OneUI 6.1, and should offer you the latest features till Android 17.

Special Features

As part of Samsung’s ecosystem, these affordable tablets support the company’s DeX feature, which gives you a desktop-like layout when you connect an external keyboard and a mouse.

However, unlike the company’s premium phones and tablets, you cannot connect to an external monitor through, as these devices are limited to USB 2.0 (Type-C), which doesn’t support display output.

Alternative: Xiaomi Pad 6

If you’re okay with a non-Samsung device (or without One UI) there’s an appealing option – the Xiaomi Pad 6 (launched in Q2 2023).

The Xiaomi Pad 6 (review) offers a better high-quality display, an IPS LCD panel with 550 nits peak brightness, HDR 10 and Dolby Vision support, and a 144Hz refresh rate for smooth operation.

It equips the Snapdragon 870 chip which is slightly less capable than the OnePlus Pad’s chip but is still a lot more capable than the ones we discussed above. It also offers higher 6GB or 8GB RAM options alongside much faster UFS 3.1 storage.

It currently boots HyperOS based on Android 14 and has some sweet multitasking-friendly features.

The downside is that it doesn’t have cellular connectivity.

Which one to go for?

If you need cellular connectivity, use the tablet mostly for reading (doesn’t require better colors and contrast), and more importantly, don’t need to do heavier tasks like video editing, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) and the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) will do just fine.

But even if you are planning to mostly consume video content, the difference is too noticeable to ignore. In that case, the Xiaomi Pad 6 will be no doubt a better fit. And if you are planning to run heavy applications, it should be the one you should go for.

If you prefer OneUI anyway, we recommend going with the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2024, so that you get longer software support.

Samsung is tipped to re-release two products. This won’t be the first as the company has already done it in recent years.

The firm is said to re-launch a tablet and a smartwatch. The former was originally released almost four years ago, while the latter is nearly three years old.

The devices in question are Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and Galaxy Watch 4. This piece of information comes from reliable tipster Roland Quandt.

He says that the aforementioned products will bear ‘2024’ in their names. The branding goes in line with the previously re-launched devices.

Unfortunately, he does not reveal anything else other than the names. Anyway, we expect to learn more about these products in the coming days.

This will be Galaxy Tab S6 Lite’s second re-release. The tablet was initially launched in 2020 with an Exynos 9611 chip. It was launched again in 2022 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G and Snapdragon 720G chipsets.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch 4 was originally released in 2021. The 2024 edition will be its first re-release.

Currently, we don’t know whether the upcoming models will differ in terms of specs. We cannot assume anything as the 2022 edition of Galaxy S20 FE was the same as the original from 2020.

However, we are certain that there may not be hardware changes but the devices will definitely arrive with newer firmware.

The South Korean tech giant may be working on a new Galaxy Tab S6 Lite series model. A GeekBench listing (Spotted by 91Mobiles) revealed an unnamed Galaxy Tab carrying the SM-P620 model number. To recall, a previous iteration of the Tab S6 Lite had the SM-P610 model number. On the benchmarking platform, the upcoming tablet was spotted running the Exynos 1280 SoC that is paired with 4GB of RAM.

The device was listed running on the Android 14 OS out of the box. Looking at the scores, the SM-P620 scores 930 points in the single core test and 1840 points in the multi core test. Unfortunately, no finer details were shared regarding the successor Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. In the past, Samsung had refreshed the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2022 Edition. So, the latest sighting likely implies a 2024 edition.

For those unaware, the Lite versions of the Galaxy Tab are more affordable than the flagship lineups. These budget tablets are also usually priced below 500 US Dollars. It is worth noting that this is still just speculation at this point and no official announcement has been shared. After rolling out new updates for its smartphones, Samsung has now started updating its tablets, and one of the first ones to receive the new Android 13 operating system is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.

Some of the users in France who own the mid-range Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite have started receiving the new update that brings the company’s custom interface One UI 5.0 based on the Android 13 operating system.

As of now, the update is limited to the LTE model, and that too within France. However, we expect the update to roll out to the Wi-Fi only as well as to other regions in a few weeks or months.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite LTE version (SM-P619) is getting a new firmware version P619XXU1BVK6. Although its the 2022 model of the device getting the update, the 2020 model is also eligible to receive Android 13 update and the rollout could take place soon.

Coming to the specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite features a 10.4-inch LCD screen offering a 2,000 x 1,200 pixels screen resolution, which supports the included S Pen stylus. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

In the camera department, there’s an 8-megapixel snapper at the back and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper for taking selfies and video calling. It comes with a pair of AKG-tuned speakers with Dolby Atmos support. As for the software, it runs the Android 12 operating system with One UI 4.0 custom interface and the device is powered by a 7,040mAh battery.

A new version of Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is in the news for the past few days. The tablet has now leaked extensively revealing almost everything about it. The latest leak has not only disclosed the official name of the product but also its specs. Let’s take a look at all the details that are out.

The upcoming tablet from Samsung will be officially called Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2022 Edition. It will have the exact same design as the original Galaxy Tab S6 Lite from 2020. In fact, the new model will share most of its features with the old variant.

The only major differences between the two is their chipset and software. First and foremost, the 2022 Edition will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC instead of an Exynos 9611. 

Secondly, thef forthcoming tablet will boot the latest Android 12-based One UI 4.x out of the box. Although the existing version is running the same software, it actually debuted with One UI 2.x based on Android 10.

Talking about other specs, Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2022 Edition will sport a 10.4-inch display (TFT LCD) with a resolution of 2400 x 1200 pixels and stylus support. It will arrive with an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, dual stereo speakers, 7,040mAh battery, and 15W charging support.

The tablet is tipped to sell in both WiFi-only and LTE variants with the same 4GB RAM and 64GB storage combo. They are siad to retail at €379 and €439 respectively.

Samsung is yet to officially announce the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2022 Edition.

While Samsung had launched the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite two years ago, we had recently reported on the company working on newer models under the same series. Now, another new certification listing has confirmed some of its features. So let’s have a look.

For those unaware, we had reported on the new version of Galaxy Tab S6 Lite being spotted on various certification websites earlier this week. Now, the same tablet may have just been spotted on FCC database. Previously, two different models were spotted on Bluetooth SIG and one of these have been listed on FCC. This variant carries the model number SM-P613, and the listing confirms that it features support for dual band Wi-Fi.

Another aspect confirmed by the FCC certification website is the support for S Pen. The South Korean tech giant’s upcoming tablet will apparently also come with a 15W charging rate. Unfortunately, this was all the information that was found on the website. Although, we do have some previous reports that hints at some of its possible specifications. As per our initial report, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite will be powered by a 5G enabled Qualcomm processor.

The model number of this chip revealed that it is the Snapdragon 720G that is paired with an Adreno 618 GPU. Furthermore, the tablet is also expected to run on Android 12 out of the box and feature 4GB of RAM. As of right now, the support pages for the tablets are live in France, so we can expect an official announcement to follow soon after.

Xiaomi finally launched the Xiaomi Pad 5 in India last week. It is the company’s first tablet in the country in 7 years. Also, this product was first announced in August 2021. It took the firm 8 months to bring it to India. The device is now up for sale in the region. But should you buy it or consider anything else? We try to answer this question in this article.

The Xiaomi Pad 5 is probably the best Android tablet in India in its price segment. The tablet retails at ₹26,999 and ₹28,999 for 6GB + 128GB and 6GB + 256GB memory configurations.

Unlike other Android tablets in the same price range, it offers a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 SoC, UFS 3.1 storage, 120Hz refresh rate screen, and an 8,720mAh battery. These features are unheard of in this particular price category in India.

But for some reason, you may not like the product. For instance, Android is still not a good platform for tablets due to a lack of optimized apps. Further, it neither has a 3.5mm headphone jack nor a MicroSD card slot. It even lacks a fingerprint sensor and comes only in a WiFi-only variant in the country.

Additionally, Xiaomi is infamous for its tablet software support. Anyway, the company has promised to deliver Android 12L for the Xiaomi Pad 5.

The Best Xiaomi Pad 5 Alternatives in India

Apple iPad 9th Generation

When we talk about tablets, the iPad is the first product that comes into our mind, and for a good reason. Apple iPads are the most popular tablet product in the world due to their ever-growing reliable app ecosystem. The tablets also offer a premium build and specs to go with it.

The latest entry-level iPad, which also goes by the name of iPad 9th Generation and iPad 10.2 (2021) is the best alternative to the Xiaomi Pad 5 though it starts at  ₹30,900 for the base variant with 64GB storage and only WiFi.

Apart from a much more powerful Apple A13 Bionic chip, the iPad will also receive software updates for 4-5 years. It is the second longest-supported tablet in this price segment. However, if you want more storage space, you will have to spend ₹44,900 for 256GB or ₹56,900 for 256GB and 5G support.

If your budget does not allow you to spend more than the price of the base variant of iPad 9th Generation and you are fine with 64GB, only then go with it.

Lenovo IdeaPad Duet Chromebook

If your usage mostly includes accessing web applications, then it’s better to buy a Chrome OS-powered tablet, which also allows you to use Android as well as Linux apps. The only option in this price range in India is the 2-year-old Lenovo IdeaPad Duet Chromebook.

As of writing this article, the product was being sold at ₹24,999. Unlike most tablets, it ships with a keyboard accessory and a kickstand stand. You only have to buy a stylus separately if you need it.

Most importantly, it Lenovo IdeaPad Duet Chromebook is the longest-supported tablet in its segment. Though It was released in 2020, it will still get updates until June 2028.

Since Chrome OS is getting better with every major update, the tablet should have more features than it launched with in the years to come.

Lenovo Yoga Tab 11

The Lenovo Yoga Tab 11 is arguably the best contender for Xiaomi Pad 5 alternative running Android. Though the tablet is not as powerful as the Pad 5, it offers certain features that are not available on the latter for a price tag of ₹25,999 (as of writing this post).

The Lenovo-branded tablet comes with a MicroSD card slot, a vibrations motor, and a ToF sensor for a face authentication system. It also has quad stereo speakers tuned by JBL and dual microphones with low-power DSP for far-filed voice recognition.

In addition to Dolby Vision support, it also has a built-in stainless steel kickstand which can be used to hand it anywhere. Finally, the only variant sold in India has LTE connectivity and 128GB storage.

The Lenovo Yoga Tab 11 may be less powerful with its MediaTek Helio G90T SoC and 4GB RAM, however, it has been confirmed to receive the Android 12 update by August and will continue to get security updates until April 2024.

Motorola Moto Tab G70

The Motorola Moto Tab G70 can be considered as a lite variant of the Lenovo Yoga Tab 11. It is almost similar to the Lenovo model without some features for a cheaper ₹22,999 price tag (as of writing this post).

It has the same display and chipset as the Yoga Tab 11 but lacks Dolby Vision support, JBL-branded speakers, a built-in stand, and a ToF sensor for biometrics. Finally, it also comes with only 64GB storage instead of 128GB.

For just ₹3,000 less, you lose out on so many features. Anyway, if you are budget is strictly around the price of the Moto Tab G70, it’s the only good option.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite

Just like the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet Chromebook, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is also a 2-year-old product. Though it has already received two Android updates (Android 11 and Android 12), it is still eligible for one more major software update (Android 13).

The tablet is not as powerful as the other two Android competitors since it is run by an Exynos 9611 SoC. But it is feature-rich in terms of software. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, which others don’t feature.

Also, unlike any other tablet on the list, it is the only one that ships with a stylus. Talking about price, as of writing this article, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite was being sold at ₹25,999 (4GB + 64GB, WiFi-only) and ₹29,999 (4GB + 64GB, WiFi + LTE).

Samsung is one of the major brands for tablets in the global market. Its latest series of flagship tablets is the Galaxy Tab S8 series. However, the company is working on a new tablet but it is apparently a part of its older Galaxy Tab S6 lineup.

According to a MySmartPrice report, the South Korean tech giant is working on a new variant of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. The upcoming device has been spotted on various certification websites, which confirms its existence and hints at an imminent launch as well. The report adds that the new tablet was spotted on Bluetooth SIG certification as well as the popular benchmarking platform, GeekBench.

For those unaware, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite was launched back in April 2020 and the brand skipped the Lite version for the Tab S7 series. So now, it looks like the company is planning on launching another new Galaxy Tab S6 Lite new model with some improvements. In other words, it could be a possible refresh as well. Furthermore, the new version carries the model number SM-P613 and SM-P619. The Bluetooth SIG certification listing also confirms that the tablet will support Bluetooth 5.0.

On the other hand, the GeekBench listing reveals that the tablet features an octa core Qualcomm processor. As per the frequency and clusters, it is likely the Snapdragon 720G processor. This device will also run on Android 12 OS out of the box and will feature 4GB of RAM. Apart from these two sites, the new variant of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite was also spotted on HTML5 as well, revealing its screen resolution of 800 x 1334 pixels. The device also surfaced on Energy Star with a processor that has a model number SM-7125, which is the Snapdragon 720G.

Samsung is currently ahead of any Android OEM in terms of software support. The company has been rolling out the stable Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update for eligible devices since November. The latest products to receive the new software are Galaxy Tab S6 and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.

According to SamMobile, Samsung has started pushing Android 12 update for the Galaxy Tab S6 and the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. The former gets it in Germany, whereas the latter receives it in France.

For the vanilla model, the update arrives with firmware version T865XXU5DVC3 and February 2022 security patches. On the other hand, the lite model is being treated with March 2022 security patches bearing firmware version P615XXU4EVC5.

Though One UI 4.1 is out, the Android 12 update for these tablets brings One UI 4.0. They may get access to the new version of One UI later.

Users in the aforementioned regions can head over to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check their unit has got the update. Anyway, the update should not be out for everyone as it is rolled out in batches.

We expect Samsung to extend the availability of Android 12 for the Galaxy Tab S6 and the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite to more markets in the coming days.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 64GB India Launch

Samsung announced the arrival of the Galaxy Tab A7 64GB variant to India in a press release. This version of the tablet will go on sale on Samsung online store, Amazon India, and Flipkart from April 19.

Interestingly, the company did not reveal the price of this version. Also, it did not clarify whether the 64GB variant will be available in both WiFi-only and 4G editions. Anyway, we expect to learn about it before it goes on sale next week.

Last week, Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite will be made official on June 8 in India. There is a landing page for the tablet on Amazon India. It mentions the key features of the slate and states that it will start with its pre-orders from 2 PM (local time) today in India. At present, the listing has no information on its pricing.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite mid-range tablet was made official in the U.S. in April. The 64 GB and 128 GB Wi-Fi only editions of the tablet were with respective price tags of $350 (~Rs. 26,470) and $420 (~Rs. 31,765). It is unclear whether India will be receiving the LTE version of the tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite specifications

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite runs on One UI 2.0 based Android 10 OS and is equipped with a big TFT display of 10.4 inches. It supports 1200 x 2000 pixels resolution. The Exynos 9611h chipset is present under the hood of the Tab S6 Lite.

The 4 GB RAM of the Tab S6 Lite has 64 GB storage whereas the higher 6 GB RAM edition has 128 GB storage. There is no confirmation on whether both variants of the Tab S6 Lite will be made available in India.

It has a front camera of 5-megapixel and a rear camera of 8-megapixel. The device is backed by a 7,040mAh battery that supports 15W fast charging. The tablet carries support for S Pen stylus.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is a more affordable version of the flagship Galaxy Tab S6 that was announced last year. Available in LTE and Wi-Fi-only variants, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has a 10.4-inch FHD screen, an Exynos 9611 chipset, 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of expandable storage.

There is an 8MP camera with no flash on the back of the tablet while a 5MP sensor sits in front for selfies and making video calls. The Tab S6 Lite has an S Pen, an audio jack, and packs a 7040mAh battery with support for 15W fast charging. It ships with Android 10 out of the box.

We have no idea which variant Samsung will be bringing to India but we expect it to have a starting price of over INR 30,000.

Its price in China for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage WiFi-only version is 2,799 Yuan or roughly 30,000 INR ($392), while the higher end 128GB storage LTE version is priced at 3,399 Yuan or roughly 36,000 INR ($477).

Unfortunately, the pricing is still unconfirmed and this is just a speculation based on overseas pricing. Hence, take this report with a grain of salt. With the lockdown and restrictions easing in India, vendors are looking forward to launching their respective offerings that had been delayed. Last week, Huawei announced a new tablet simply called the MatePad which is actually a less-powerful version of its MatePad Pro flagship tablet. The MatePad is targeted at students and packs some pretty interesting specifications.

Huawei isn’t the only manufacturer that has announced a lite version of its flagship tablet. About a fortnight ago, Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite which is a cheaper version of its flagship tablet – the Galaxy Tab S6.

This post will compare the two new tablets which actually have more similarities than differences.

Design

Samsung and Huawei have gone with slightly different designs but the same materials. So you get a glass-covered display, an aluminum frame, and an aluminum back on both devices.

The two tablets have moderately-sized bezels, though not the slimmest we have seen. On the back, Huawei has adopted a pill-shaped camera housing for the MatePad while Samsung settled for a square-camera housing.

With respect to dimensions, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and Huawei MatePad are not too far apart. Samsung’s tablet measures 244.5 x 154.3 x 7 mm while the MatePad measures 245.2 x 155 x 7.4 mm. The Galaxy Tab S6 is slightly smaller and thinner but surprisingly weighs more at 467 grams compared to the MatePad that weighs 450 grams.

Display

The two tablets both have 10.4-inch displays with the same 1200 x 2000 resolution. Both are also LCD panels, so there isn’t a difference in quality.

Performance

The Huawei MatePad is powered by a Kirin 810 processor while the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is powered by the Exynos 9611 processor. When it comes to performance, the Kirin 810 is the superior chipset. It has 2x Cortex-A76 cores and 6x Cortex-A55 cores compared to the Exynos 9611 that has 4x Cortex-A73 cores and 4x Cortex-A53 cores.

Based on the above, apps and games should launch and load faster on the MatePad. You should also have a better multi-tasking experience on Huawei’s tablet.

The MatePad is available in 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variants with 64GB and 128GB of storage respectively. Samsung’s own tablet is available in a single 4GB RAM variant but you can choose between 64GB or 128GB of storage. The two tablets support storage expansion. Huawei’s tablet will allow you to add up to an extra 512GB while the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite doubles it to 1TB (US Site says 512GB).

Cameras

Another area where the two tablets are identical is the camera, the rear camera to be specific. Both have an 8MP camera but Huawei adds an LED flash to its setup which Samsung skips.

For selfies and video calls, Huawei goes with an 8MP sensor again but Samsung settles for a 5MP camera.

There is no camera comparison available yet, so we can’t say which tablet takes better pictures.

Battery and Fast Charging

Huawei ships the MatePad with a 7250mAh battery capacity with support for 18W fast charging (fully charged in 2.8 hours) and boasts it will provide up to 12 hours of video playback.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has a smaller 7040mAh battery with support for 15W fast charging and claims it will last up to 13 hours on a single charge for video playback.

Other features

Both tablets have an active stylus – M-Pencil for the MatePad and S-Pen for the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. However, Huawei doesn’t include the stylus in the box, so you have to buy that separately.

Another area where Samsung’s tablet wins is the addition of an audio jack. We are quite surprised why Huawei decided to skip it on a mid-range tablet. Huawei compensates for the lack of an audio jack by adding four speakers (Tuned by Harman Kardon) as against the two speakers (Tuned by AKG) on the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. The MatePad also ships with a Type-C to 3.5mm audio cable in the box.

Both tablets come in LTE and Wi-Fi-only variants. However, Samsung opts for e-SIM connectivity for its own LTE version according to the official UK page.

The two tablets also ship with Android 10 out of the box with EMUI 10.1 on the MatePad and One UI 2 on the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.

Price

Huawei’s MatePad sells for ¥1899 (~$269) for the 4+64GB Wi-Fi-only version compared to the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite’s $350/£349 price for the same configuration. However, if you throw in the price of the M-Pencil stylus which is ¥499 (~$70), the price tag almost levels up.

The 6+128GB Wi-Fi-only MatePad is ¥2199 (~$311) while the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite with the same configuration is $420.

If you want the LTE version of the MatePad with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage, the price is ¥2499 (~$353). Samsung is selling the 64GB LTE version for £399 in the UK along with a free Book Cover (worth £59.99) for those who pre-order (Wi-Fi versions are eligible too). There is no info on the price of the 128GB version of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.

Conclusion

Both tablets are aimed at students as an affordable version of their more-powerful siblings which are targeted at professionals. However, they each have their strengths and weaknesses.

While the MatePad is definitely the better tablet in terms of performance and even price, its lack of Google Apps will not make it the first choice for several buyers outside China.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has the advantage with support for Google Apps and Services, though it comes with an average chipset. It also has the S Pen included, and if you were to pre-order, you’d get a free case too.

If you do not mind the weak processor of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, it is the better buy. However, if you do not need the S Pen, the Galaxy Tab S5e which now sells for less ($330 on Best Buy) is a better alternative.

The Galaxy Tab S5e has a more powerful chipset, an OLED screen, better cameras, quad speakers, a fingerprint scanner, and faster charging (18W). It is also pretty thin at just 5.5mm but lacks an audio jack.

The tablet Android market has experienced a serious downturn in recent years which has seen many OEMs drastically reduce their product catalogue. The Korean giant has kept faith with its tablet business but in a somewhat uninspiring manner. We recall how the company launched the LTE-enabled Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) with little to no fanfare. Again Samsung has gone official with the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite without much publicity. The tablet is now officially listed on Samsung Indonesia’s official website.

Before now, the tablet has featured in several leaks revealing the renders and specs. It has even been reportedly listed by several carriers and e-retailers including in South Korea. Thus, there is little left to the imagination but this official listing confirms the hardware and software details. Here we go.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite features a 10.4-inch display with a decent WUXGA+ resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels. The tablet is powered by an Octa-core processor whose identity wasn’t revealed on the website. However, it is believed to be either the Exynos 9610 or 9611 chipsets. The processor is paired with 4GB of RAM while there are 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage variants available. The internal storage is expandable via a microSD slot.

The tablet comes with an S-pen stylus just like its sibling. It equally packs dual speakers with AKG and Dolby Atmos enhancements, a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port. For photography, there is an 8MP rear-facing camera and 5MP selfie shooter. It comes pre-installed with Android 10-based One UI 2.

Further, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite packs a mammoth 7040mAh battery which supports up to 13 hours of continuous video playback between charges. Despite the huge battery, the tablet is just 7mm thick and weighs 467 grams.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Pricing and availability

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite comes in Oxford Gray, Angora Blue, and Chiffon Pink colour options. Earlier listing on B&H which was later pulled down shows the tablet will retail for $350 for the 64GB Wi-Fi-only variant and $420 for the 128GB Wi-Fi-only variant. There is no word yet on when it will go on sale.

Samsung is yet to officially announce the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite but the tablet has already begun appearing on online stores. A few days ago, the 5G version was listed on a Korean online store. Today, the Wi-Fi version of the tablet has been spotted on Argos’ online store.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is listed on the online store for £339 (~$422). It has 64GB of built-in storage and comes in two color variants – Angora Blue and Oxford Grey. The listing also includes key specs of the device.

The tablet has a 10.4-inch screen with support for multi-touch. It is powered by an Exynos 9611 octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz and paired with 4GB of RAM. There is a MicroSD card slot for up to an additional 1TB of storage.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (SM-P610) has a 5MP selfie camera and an 8MP rear camera. It also has an audio jack and a USB Type-C port. Samsung also ships it with the new S-Pen and Android 10 out of the box. There is a matching Book Cover with a slot for the S-Pen but it has to be purchased separately.

If you are in search of a new tablet (that is not an iPad) with a stylus, then this should be a good purchase.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is expected to go official on April 2. The LTE version is now listed on Amazon Germany ahead of its announcement, but its sales haven’t started. Tipster Ishan Agarwal has teamed up with Pricebaba to share the renders and pricing of the Wi-Fi only version of the tablet.

The newly leaked renders of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite have shown that it will be available in Slate Grey and Light Blue colors. The screen of the device is surrounded by thick bezels and it features a USB-C port and an external speaker at its bottom. The right spine of the slate features a power button, a volume rocker and a SIM card tray. The Slate Gray Galaxy Tab S6 Lite will come with a gray colored S Pen whereas the Light Blue edition will come with the same colored stylus.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite was found listed on the retailer site with a pricing of 428.44 euros (~$469) for the LTE edition. The new leak reveals that its Wi-Fi only version will be costing 399 euros (~$437).

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite’s Bluetooth certification has revealed that it has a model number of SM-P615. The same model number was also spotted at Geekbench benchmarks in the recent past. Devices are known for getting announced within a month after appearing on the database of Bluetooth SIG. Hence, it appears that the arrival of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite may not be far away.

The leaked render of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite resembles with the flagship Galaxy Tab S6 in terms of appearance. The image reveals that the tablet could be arriving with a redesigned S Pen stylus. The publication claims that the tablet is likely to support wireless charging for the S Pen. It has further stated that the S Pen for the Tab S6 Lite appears thicker than the one that comes with Galaxy Note series which indicates that it can’t fit inside the body of the device. The Galaxy Tab S6 is Samsung’s most powerful tablet. It has a Super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 855 processor, up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Last month, Samsung even announced a 5G version with a Snapdragon 855+ processor and a 5G modem. Now, it seems we will be getting a third version as the Bluetooth SIG has just certified a device called the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.

The device appeared on the Bluetooth SIG database today and the listing reveals the device has model number SM-P615. Actually, this is not the first time we have seen this model number. It first surfaced last year in a report by Sammobile as an upcoming tablet with an S Pen. However, back then it was not known as the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.

The device was also spotted on Geekbench last month and the benchmark result showed it will come with 4GB of RAM, an Exynos 9611 processor, and run Android 10.

The screen should remain at 10.5-inches or might turn out to be smaller but should be a Super AMOLED panel. We also won’t be surprised if it has only one rear camera instead of two.

The SM-P615 is believed to be the LTE variant with the WiFi-only version having model number SM-P610. We expect Samsung will announce the tablet soon.
