<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung</a> has shifted its smartwatch release strategy a bit over the last couple of years. In 2024, the company skipped the Classic model to introduce the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-watch-ultra/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy Watch Ultra</a> alongside the standard <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-watch-7/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Watch 7</a>. Last year, it brought the Classic back for the Watch 8 series and released a minor refresh of the Ultra with more storage and a new color. Now, according to a recent code leak, it looks like the company is gearing up to launch full updates for all three models at once this summer.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="640" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-Ultra-1024x640.png?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra" class="wp-image-740547" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-Ultra-1024x640.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-Ultra-300x188.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-Ultra-768x480.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-Ultra-696x435.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-Ultra-1068x668.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-Ultra-672x420.png 672w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-Ultra.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Android Authority dug into a recent Google Wear OS app update and found three new codenames: Fresh 9, Wise 9, and Project X2. Based on last year&#8217;s naming scheme, these likely translate to the Galaxy Watch 9, Galaxy Watch 9 Classic, and a second-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra.</p>

<p>If accurate, releasing a Watch 9 Classic would break Samsung’s usual habit of skipping a year between Classic models. It’s a practical move for people who prefer the physical rotating bezel and don&#8217;t want to wait until 2027 for a hardware refresh.</p>

<p>Internally, the Watch 9 and 9 Classic are expected to reuse the Exynos W1000 chip from last year&#8217;s lineup. The Ultra 2, however, is rumored to switch things up by adopting <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/qualcomm/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Qualcomm’</a>s new Snapdragon Wear Elite processor.</p>

<p>The code also suggests these new watches will pick up a practical feature from the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/08/20/google-pixel-watch-4-launched-india/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pixel Watch 4</a>: raise-to-talk. According to a new string labeled &#8220;RttSettingsManager3pWearOs&#8221; Google is expanding the feature to third-party Wear OS devices. This would allow Galaxy Watch users to activate their voice assistant simply by lifting their wrist, skipping the wake word entirely.</p>

<p>Nothing is official yet, but we shouldn&#8217;t have to wait long to see what Samsung has planned. The company is expected to announce its new wearable lineup alongside its next batch of folding phones at an event rumored for July 22.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung</a> is just a few weeks away from hosting the first<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/02/02/samsung-galaxy-s26-ultra-design-specs-leak/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Galaxy Unpacked event </a>of 2026. At the event, the company will announce new Galaxy S26 phones, including the vanilla, Plus, and Ultra models.</p>

<p>After that, Samsung typically waits until late Q3 to unveil its other flagship products. However, early signs of what’s coming next are already surfacing on the web.</p>

<p>Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 series and Watch Ultra 2 confirmed by this global certification</p>

<p>According to <em>Smartprix</em>, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ have appeared in the GSMA IMEI database months ahead of launch.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="530" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S12-Ultra-and-S12-Plus-IMEI-certification.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-725667" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S12-Ultra-and-S12-Plus-IMEI-certification.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S12-Ultra-and-S12-Plus-IMEI-certification-300x177.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S12-Ultra-and-S12-Plus-IMEI-certification-768x452.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S12-Ultra-and-S12-Plus-IMEI-certification-696x410.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S12-Ultra-and-S12-Plus-IMEI-certification-713x420.jpg 713w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>The models are listed as SM-X946B for the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and SM-X846B for the Galaxy Tab S12+. Notably, the database makes no reference to a standard Galaxy Tab S12.</p>

<p>The Galaxy Tab S11 series skipped the Plus model in favor of the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-tab-s11/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Tab S11</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-tab-s11-ultra/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">S11 Ultra </a>combo. It’s possible that Samsung is once again tweaking its naming strategy this year by launching only the Plus and Ultra variants. That said, the regular Tab S12 could still show up in the IMEI database at a later date.</p>

<h2><strong>Samsung Galaxy Watch 2 Ultra and Watch 9 also make it to the certification</strong></h2>

<p>Tablets aren’t the only Samsung products appearing early. The GSMA database has also added entries for two new smartwatches: the Galaxy Watch 9 with model number SM-L345U, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, listed as SM-L716U.</p>

<p>As usual, IMEI listings don’t reveal specifications or features; however, they do confirm that Samsung’s next-generation products are already moving through the early stages of launch preparation.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="530" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-9-and-Watch-Ultra-2-IMEI.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-725668" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-9-and-Watch-Ultra-2-IMEI.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-9-and-Watch-Ultra-2-IMEI-300x177.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-9-and-Watch-Ultra-2-IMEI-768x452.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-9-and-Watch-Ultra-2-IMEI-696x410.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Watch-9-and-Watch-Ultra-2-IMEI-713x420.jpg 713w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>If the brand sticks to its usual release patterns, these listings offer a meaningful clue about timing. Historically, there’s often a six- to seven-month gap between a device appearing in the IMEI database and its official announcement.</p>

<p>Based on that timeline, the Galaxy Tab S12 series—along with the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2—are likely candidates for Samsung’s second Galaxy Unpacked event, which typically takes place in August or September.</p>
