The One UI 8.5 beta program was limited to the Galaxy S25 series for months, and just when users were expecting the stable rollout to begin, Samsung started expanding the beta program to more Galaxy devices.

In early March 2026, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 joined the One UI 8.5 beta program, and later that month, the beta expanded to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Tab S11 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The list may still be incomplete as more Galaxy devices could get the One UI 8.5 beta in the coming weeks.

Earlier this week, the first One UI 8.5 beta build for these Galaxy smartphones was spotted (1, 2) on Samsung’s servers, suggesting that the brand could open the One UI 8.5 beta program for them soon.

While opening the beta program would allow more Samsung users to gain early access to the upcoming features and upgrades, it could also result in some delay to the stable rollout.

One UI 8.5 is still based on Android 16, but it uses a newer QPR2 build that brings extra features and enhancements from Google. Plus, the update includes a host of new features and changes from the One UI team, including a fully customizable Quick Settings, allowing you to resize, rearrange, and organize toggles and sliders.

The update also includes updated app icons, featuring a bit of 3D effect, for the first-party apps at least. Further, the lock screen has been updated to automatically adjust the clock and date. It can now show weather visuals based on the current conditions.

A key upgrade in One UI 8.5 is the adoption of a modern floating tab bar UI, a pill-shaped UI element with a frosted color scheme, replacing the traditional plain tab bar at the bottom. The new software introduces “Now Nudge” to proactively suggest actions and information based on the content on the screen. It also introduces some important features, including Partial screen recording, Audio broadcast, Storage share, Failed authentication lock, and Theft protection. Samsung has officially announced the launch date for One UI 7: April 7, 2025, the day in which several compatible models will receive the update. Users of slightly older devices like the 5th generation foldables might have to wait for the update for a couple more days.

While the update brings a host of new features and improvements, owners of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will reportedly miss out on two key functionalities: Audio Eraser and the natural language-based search feature of the Settings app.

Natural language-based search for Settings

Ever been in a situation where you needed to change a particular setting but didn’t exactly know where it exists inside settings? Well, it’s no more a problem. With the new intelligent search feature integrated into the Settings app, you can just describe what you want, and your phone leads to that specific toggle. One example the company showcased is “My eyes are feeling tired,” which automatically brings you the toggle to enable the “Eye Comfort Shield” or lets you adjust the brightness.

And even if know where to find out the option you’re looking for, something you have to click and scroll multiple times before you get to the target page. It just makes the features more accessible and easy to use.

Unfortunately, this intuitive feature isn’t going to be a part of the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5.

Audio Eraser

In a world where a significant portion of the human population creates content, this feature to remove unwanted sound or noise with just a few clicks could be a lifesaver. Unfortunately, this feature remains exclusive to the more recent flagships and won’t be a part of the above-mentioned foldables.

The One UI 6.1.1 was unveiled alongside the new Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, and now, these are finally arriving on older flagship and foldable models as well. Which devices received the One UI 6.1.1 update?

The South Korean tech giant has released the One UI 6.1.1 update for last year’s Galaxy S23 series (Via AndroidAuthority). In other words, the older flagship Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are now receiving this update. Apart from these three models, Samsung has also rolled out the update for the previous gen Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Unfortunately, this update is currently only available in South Korea. So we can expect a wider release soon in regions like US, UK, Asia, and Europe. The One UI 6.1.1 update is over 2GB in size, so make sure you have enough space before downloading and installing the software upgrade.

The Magic V Flip is Honor’s first attempt at a clamshell folding design, but despite that, it offers a notable advantage in screen space. Both its primary and cover screen are taller than the one offered on the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The Chinese brand’s Magic V Flip has a tall 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display that offers an FHD+ Resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 21:9 aspect ratio, HDR, 3000 nits of peak brightness, and Dolby Vision. Meanwhile, its external panel is a 4-inch LTPO OLED panel with 1200 x 1092 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR, Dolby Vision, and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a 6.7-inch Dynamic 2X AMOLED main display with HDR10+, 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, and 1,750 nits of peak brightness. Its cover panel is a smaller 3.4-inch Super AMOLED that has a 720 x 748 resolution. This means that the Honor device has a brighter display, and its cover screen is more practical thanks to its larger size.

Samsung takes the lead in performance

The South Korean swings back in round 2 with an edge on performance. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 5 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which is a flagship-grade processor from last year. Meanwhile, the Honor Magic V Flip unfortunately comes with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which dropped back in 2022. In everyday use, both chipsets are more than enough to handle most tasks. Even in performance hungry processes, both models are capable but the newer chip is still more advanced.

Camera

Honor’s latest flip phone and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 offer a similar number of cameras. Two at the back, and one at the front. But there are plenty of differences. The Magic V Flip features a 50-megapixel primary camera with f/1.9 aperture, 1/1.56″ size, and OIS support (Optical Image Stabilization). This is paired with a 12-megapixel ultra wide angle lens. For selfies and video calls, you get a 50-megapixel shooter.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 also comes with a dual camera setup but with two 12-megapixel sensors. The main camera offers an f/1.8 aperture, 1/1.76″ sensor size, 1.8µm pixel size, and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), which is paired with a 12-megapixel ultra wide angle lens. It has a 10-megapixel selfie camera on the front. On paper, it may seem like Honor is better for photography, but camera resolution alone doesn’t mean a better camera performance. Software algorithms also play a big role. But hopefully, Samsung does update its camera setup on the next-gen Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Pricing & Verdict

The Honor Magic V Flip has officially launched in China for a starting price tag of around 690 US dollars for the base 8GB + 256GB option. This is quite a bit cheaper than the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which was first announced for 999 US dollars. So with an over 200 US Dollar price gap, Honor is an impressive deal. Samsung is rumored to be making the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 even more expensive so the Magic V Flip is definitely a better deal for those that can’t shell out 1000 dollars for a phone.

Samsung has been busy rolling out the One UI 6.1 update to Galaxy phones in the first half of 2024. Now that most of the compatible models have received the update, the company is shifting its focus to One UI 6.1.1, another major software update that will exclusively target Galaxy Fold and Flip phones and S-series tablets.

New details from tipster Tarun Vats suggest that Samsung has already started internal testing of One UI 6.1.1 for both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5. 

The tipster spotted two new firmware versions of One UI 6.1.1 on Samsung’s servers: F946BXXU2DXF1 and F731BXXU2DXF1 which reportedly correspond to the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 respectively. It’s important to note that these are internal builds, and Samsung may test several iterations of One UI 6.1.1 before a public beta is available.

Considering this internal testing phase, users will likely have to wait for several weeks to get their hands on the beta version of One UI 6.1.1.

The official release of a stable One UI 6.1.1 update is expected to coincide with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, which is rumored to take place at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, 2024.

Although the specific features of One UI 6.1.1 are still unknown, more information about the OS is likely to emerge closer to its release. The update could introduce functionalities that specifically cater to the unique form factors of Samsung’s foldable smartphones.

The design of this foldable device is premium to the very last bit, with solid materials and an impressive hinge mechanism. The power button on this device doubles as a fingerprint sensor for security unlocking. This is also the first Z Flip device from Samsung that folds completely flat thanks to its new hinge mechanism. Colour options on this device are Mint, Graphite, Cream, Lavender, Gray, Blue, Green, Yellow, and they only reflect on the bottom folding half of the device since the top folding half is a big screen.

Samsung has been rolling out the One UI 6.0 based on Android 14 update for a number of Galaxy handsets over the last several months. The majority of flagship smartphones and a few mid-range smartphones have already received the update.

Now, Samsung has released a new December 2023 OTA update to the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The update has initially appeared in two countries—Ukraine and New Zealand. It is the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s second Android 14-based update (available in select countries) and it offers only the latest security patch.

Similar to other Samsung Galaxy smartphones, the December update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 addresses 16 software vulnerabilities that are specific to Samsung and 54 security flaws found in the Android operating system.

Since it is powered only by a Snapdragon chip globally, it is not eligible for updates for vulnerabilities that impact select Exynos chips.

It will see a broader distribution in the next few days and comes with a firmware version that ends in BWKM or BWL2, depending on the nation. You can get the most recent update for your Galaxy Z Flip 5 by heading to the Settings app, tapping on Software Update, and then tapping on Download and Install.

The stable One UI 6 update for the latest foldable is finally out, following the Galaxy Z Fold 5, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is now receiving the update in the US. Samsung is actively bringing new updates for its flagship and mid-range smartphones including the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, and Galaxy A54.

The update for Galaxy Z Flip 5 is currently limited to the US, and may soon reach to broader audience in different regions. Surprisingly, the update is available for the carrier-locked Verizon Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphone with firmware version F731USQU1BWK9.

Alongside the new luxuries of Android 14 and Samsung’s newly backed feature, it also bundles the latest November 2023 Security Patch. We expect the update to arrive for both the locked and unlocked variants in the Stateside within a few weeks.

The update currently weighs 3GB in size, and it is recommended to switch to a Wi-Fi network to save on carrier data costs. The users can always manually check for the update by heading over to Settings > Software Update > Software Update and Install and then the Download and Install option.

One UI 6.0 Features

There are massive change list that is part of the OneUI 6.0 update. The user will get a fully overhauled Quick panel design, a new notification design, new fonts, and much more. A much more dynamic Lock Screen with an improved clock widget is part of the parcel. Some stock apps have also been tweaked with new features and functions to further enhance the overall user experience on One UI 6.0.

- The Quick Settings layout has been updated to enhance usability.

Weather Widget

- A new weather widget was added to provide weather forecasts and insights.
You can now check the local weather on a map without adding current location.

Call

- Added Bixby text call button to easily switch to text calling. Bixby Text call must be first enabled in Call settings.

Camera

- Added separate picture resolution button in Camera quick settings menu. Now you can now easily change picture resolution by tapping the 12M button.

- Added separate video size button in Video quick settings menu. Select Video mode and tap the FHD 30 button at top to show more options.

- Added "Swipe up/down to switch cameras" button in Camera settings. This will turn on/off the swipe gesture to switch between selfie and rear cameras.
OS

Gallery

- Added Details button (i) in Gallery to easily view image information. Optional AI enhancements such as "Remaster" and "Object eraser" are added to the Gallery details page for quick editing.

- Save an image as a sticker. Tap an object in an image, then an options menu will appear > Select Save as sticker. Next time you use Photo Editor, the saved sticker will show in your sticker options from Gallery.

- Added a Document scanning option in Gallery. Select the T button in the bottom right corner to start scanning.

Video Player

- When you pause a video, you can create a sticker from a single frame of video. Tap an object in the image, then an options menu will appear > select Save as sticker. The next time you use Video Editor, you can add this sticker to your videos.

Photo Editor

- Added More menu (3 dots) in the top right corner for easy access. Added AI tools button (first stars editing icon) to quickly use edits/effects.

- Added Straighten and Perspective options to the image rotation menu, so the image angle and horizontal/vertical correction can be performed at the same time.

- Easily tap or draw around any object you want to keep in the picture. Select AI tools > Lasso > tap or draw the object desired.

Video Studio

- Video Editor has be renamed to "Video Studio" and can be easily found in the Gallery Menu tab. Select Go to Studio and add Studio to the app screen for easier access.

- Easily edit the videos on one screen using the quick editing elements: text, stickers, audio, etc.

Calendar

- Easily create recurring events with repeat recommendations for anniversaries, birthdays and other events.

- Added Schedule view to see a snapshot of events within a period.

- Reminders can now be created directly in Calendar.

Reminder

- Reminders are now categorized so you can easily view the Reminder by time segment.

Battery and Device Care settings

- Battery and Device Care settings settings are now separated in Settings menu for quicker access.

Security and Privacy Settings

- Added descriptions for each category in Security and Privacy dashboard. Removed Scan button as the information is automatically updated when user opens Security and Privacy settings.

- Auto Blocker menu has been added to block threats and suspicious activities when enabled.

In terms of the security update, the latest patch fixes over two critical vulnerabilities, a dozen high-risk faults, and 12 SVE (Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures).

Reports indicate that the majority of people choosing foldable phones favor clamshell phones, particularly among females. So I guess this is the right opportunity to give you an informed decision about which phone you should go with. Let’s delve into the details.

Display and Design

Both the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Motorola Razr 40 Ultra look similar as they are clamshell phones, but they also have noticeable differences. The Razr 40 Ultra features larger AMOLED screens, boasting a 6.9-inch main screen with a 165 Hz refresh rate compared to the Z Flip 5’s 6.7-inch screen with 120 Hz. Both support HDR10+ and have the same resolution.

Externally, the Razr 40 Ultra’s 3.6-inch display is larger and offers smoother animations, although it’s partially obstructed by camera lenses. The Z Flip 5 uses a folder-shaped 3.4-inch display to avoid camera interference, but the Razr’s design seems more integrated.

Motorola leads in screen size, resolution, and refresh rate, but the Flip has superior peak brightness, making it better for outdoor usage. While the Razr can run apps on its external display directly, the Flip requires adjustments to do so.

Both phones aim for a compact and premium feel. The Razr 40 Ultra measures 170.8 x 74 x 7 mm and weighs 185g, while the Z Flip 5 is slightly heavier at 187g but slimmer at 165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm.

A YouTuber’s test revealed that the Z Flip 5’s hinge endured more than 2,67,000 folds, surpassing the Razr 40 Ultra’s hinge durability of 1,26,367 folds.

The Z Flip 5 also has an IPX8 water resistance rating, while the Razr has an IP52 rating for dust resistance.

Although the Razr 40 Ultra has certain advantages, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 excels in overall usage and checks all the boxes. Therefore, my recommendation would be to choose the Flip 5.

Performance & Software

Coming to performance, both devices pack a punch. The Razr 40 Ultra is equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, ensuring a smooth user experience. However, the Z Flip5, with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, offers a slight edge in speed.

Storage-wise, the Z Flip 5 offers 8GB RAM and up to 512GB of the fast UFS 4.0 storage. The Razr 40 Ultra matches the 8GB RAM but provides only 256GB of the slightly slower UFS 3.1 storage.

On the software front, both phones use Android 13. However, Samsung’s Z Flip 5 has their custom OneUI which is tuned for foldable phones and offers up to four major Android updates. The Razr 40 Ultra keeps things simple with a near-stock Android look and commits to three major Android updates. This segment is very subjective but personally, I would lean towards One UI here.

Camera

Both the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 are equipped with dual-camera systems. The Razr 40 Ultra features a 12MP wide sensor and a 13MP ultra-wide lens, while also boasting a 32MP front camera. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes with dual 12MP rear sensors (wide and ultra-wide) and a 10MP front camera. On paper, the Razr seems superior, especially in the selfie department.

However, real-world performance tells a different story. The Razr’s camera often produces unsatisfactory photos with issues like blown-out colors and blurry images sometimes. Long-range shooting is subpar, and zooming beyond 3x leads to unsatisfactory color quality in images. According to our YT Editor, the Razr 40 Ultra’s camera performs slightly better than typical $300 phones.

In contrast, the Flip 5, building on Samsung’s camera expertise, delivers clearer and more consistent shots, outdoing the Razr with ease.

A notable feature of both devices is the ability to use the main camera for selfies, thanks to their design. Here, the Flip 5 takes the lead again, making it the better choice for photography enthusiasts.

Battery & Charging

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 packs a 3700mAh battery, slightly smaller than the Razr 40 Ultra’s 3800mAh. Both phones offer roughly a day’s battery life, with the Flip 5 showing slight improvements over its predecessor. When it comes to charging, the Razr 40 Ultra supports 30W wired and 5W wireless charging.

In contrast, the Flip 5 offers 25W wired charging and a better 15W wireless charging. Neither phone excels in charging speeds, but they serve the basic needs adequately. Overall, while the Razr has a marginally bigger battery, the Flip 5 offers slightly faster wireless charging.

Pricing

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 starts at $999.99 with 256GB storage. A higher storage variant, 512GB, is available for $1119.99. On the other side, the Razr 40 Ultra, also known as Razr+ in the US, is priced at $999.99 and offers 256GB storage with no other storage options.

Verdict

While Motorola’s Razr 40 Ultra impressed with its stylish design and better screen, Samsung’s Z Flip 5 has taken the lead with superior performance, memory, and longer software support.

If you want a trendy look, go for the Razr. For top-notch performance and updates, choose the Z Flip 5. Both have their merits, but the Z Flip 5 seems like a wiser choice in the long run.

Recent reports also confirmed better sales of the new Galaxy Foldables in other markets. In India, Samsung registered a 70% increase in pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. On the global stage, the sales have already surpassed 10 million units.

By 2025, Samsung plans for half of its smartphone sales to come from foldable models. This means foldable phones will be as significant to the company as its Galaxy S series. The company already holds a leading position in the foldable phone market. In 2022, Samsung had a whopping 77% of the global foldable phone market share. Before launch, reliable tipster Ishan Agarwal revealed storage variants, color options, and sale date timeframe of the next-generation foldables for the Indian market.

According to the tipster, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will arrive in three shades, such as Phantom Black, Cream, and Icy Blue. It will be available in three storage options: 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will come in color options, such as Graphite, Cream, Lavender, and Mint. It will come in storage variants, such as 128 GB and 256 GB.

The leak reveals that the Z Fold and Z 5lip 5 will also be available in Samsung-exclusive colors. These shades will only be available through Samsung’s online store. Similar to what we have seen on the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra (read our first impressions), the upcoming Samsung Flip phone could feature a large 3.4-inch cover screen, possibly with added features and controls.

Moto Razr 40 Ultra’s cover screen lets you do almost everything you’d do on the main screen. Samsung’s software game is even stronger than Motorola so we can expect a better experience on the small screen. The rest of the design of the phone should be same as the last year’s model. We are talking about flat edges and a dual camera setup on the rear. It should get a punched hole cutout on the front for the selfie camera.

The main screen on the device could be a 6.7-inch AMOLED Full HD display, with an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate. This is almost same as the Galaxy Z Flip 4, with an exception of it being able to switch to QHD resolution.

The hinge is another major improvement on the Galaxy Z Flip 5. It is what allows a foldable phone to fold, and the current Samsung flip phones have a deep crease in the center due to the hinge mechanism. While you may stop noticing the crease after using the phone for some time, the experience would be much better without it. Samsung apparently agrees, as there are rumors that the company has reworked the hinge to reduce or eliminate the crease on the display.

The Korean company is said to have equipped its latest foldables with a teardrop hinge, similar to Google Pixel Fold and Oppo Find N2. This new hinge minimizes the display crease and lets the phone fold flat without a gap.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 cameras and hardware

Samsung will pack the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with all the latest hardware. This includes Qualcomm’s greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. It may not be a regular chip but an overclocked version seen on the Galaxy S23 series. The chip could be paired with up to 512GB of storage and 8GB RAM.

The phone is also rumored to get a camera upgrade, but it’s likely to be minor. It is expected to have a 12MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 12MP selfie camera on the front. The megapixel count is the same as the Galaxy Z Flip 4, but there’s a possibility the sensors will be larger. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will also have a larger 3,700mAh battery and support 25W charging. The phone will run on Android 13 with Samsung’s OneUI on top. It will retain the IPX8 rating.

Expected Pricing

A recent report claims the 256GB model of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will cost €1,199 (~$1,414) in France. The 512GB storage model will cost €1,339 (~$1,580). As you can see the new flip phone is slightly more expensive than the Flip 4, which starts at €1,049 in the same region. But the good news is that Samsung could ship the Galaxy Z Flip 5 pre-orders with a free storage upgrade.

As per the report (via Dealabs), the 256GB model of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will cost €1,199 in France. The 512GB storage model will cost €1,339. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be available in three storage models: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. These models will cost €1,899, €2,039, and €2279, respectively. The Korean company was also rumored to replace the previous hinge with a new droplet-style hinge, which was supposed to minimize the gap. However, recently leaked dummies of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 show it will continue to have a hinge gap.

The gap is still there but at least you get a larger cover display

A recent post on Slashleaks features images and a brief video showcasing the dummy unit of the Galaxy Z Flip 5. In the images, you can see a larger folder icon-shaped cover display on the outside, accompanied by two camera modules. The rest of the design seems to be similar to last year’s model, from the fingerprint sensor to the hinge.

The latest leak shows that the gap in the folded Galaxy Z Flip 5 still remains visible. Samsung was rumored to be adopting a new droplet-style hinge design. This hinge design would have left more space for the display to fold, which would have helped to reduce the gap. However, the dummies show the gap is still visible, even with the new hinge design. This is disappointing for some fans, who were hoping for a more seamless folding experience.

It’s worth noting that the dummy units could vary from the original models, so you may not see this visible gap on the units you purchase. Just a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5, along with a new generation of Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Tab S9, will be unveiled on July 26th.

The upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event from Samsung will take place on 26th July at 07:00 AM ET. The poster shared by the company also teases the next-generation foldable smartphone from the brand.

The Galaxy Unpacked launch event will be live-streamed on Samsung’s official website as well as on its YouTube channel. Apart from the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphones, the company is also expected to launch a few other devices at the event, including the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series, tablets, and earphones.

As for the phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to be an incremental update with a slightly smaller and lighter design, a more durable hinge, and an improved user experience. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to come with a larger front-facing display and a more powerful processor.

A series of new leaks have recently surfaced online, revealing the full specifications of the next gen flagship foldable smartphones from Samsung and even their design via leaked renders and live images. So here’s a breakdown of all the information on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

The South Korean tech giant’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 model is the top-end device in the upcoming 5th Gen Z series. Now, a new leak from SnoopyTech has revealed the design renders of the upcoming foldable phone as well as its full specs. Looking at the design first, we can tell that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 retains the design of its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 4, with a notebook-like horizontal folding primary display, a tall external screen, and a vertically stacked triple camera setup.

The primary panel is a 7.6 inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 2,176 x 1,812 pixel resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the cover display is a 6.2 inch Dynamic AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,316 x 904 pixel resolution. Under the hood, the device will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which will be paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be powered by a 4,400mAh battery pack and will run on Android 13 OS based OneUI 5.1.1 out of the box.

The rear will house a 50 megapixel triple camera setup, while the front has a 5 megapixel under display camera on the primary screen and a 10 megapixel shooter on the secondary panel as well. Other notable features include NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, a USB-C 3.2 port, nanoSIM, and eSIM support. This model will be available in three color options, namely Phantom Black, Cream, and Icy Blue colors.

Galaxy Z Flip 5

Unlike its more expensive sibling, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 model will be getting a major upgrade in design over its predecessor. Similar to the new Moto Razr 40 Ultra, it sports a taller cover display that has a 3.4 inch size and HD resolution. On the other hand, the primary screen is a 6.7 inch Dynamic AMOLED panel with a Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 powers his device as well, with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage.

Other notable features include Android 13, USB Type-C 3.2, Bluetooth 5.2, and Wi-Fi 6E. The leak from SnoopyTech offers us a look at the design of this device as well, but a separate leak from Revegnus offers us a look at the device in public with a cover. Looking at the live image, we can see the taller cover display offering more functionality with its Always on Display displaying an analog clock.

Revegnus added that the Z Flip 5’s battery life will be similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 4 from its 3,700mAh battery pack. This model will also launch in multiple colors, which include Lavender, Mint, Cream, and Graphite color variants. Notably, the two foldable phones will be unveiled during the Galaxy Unpacked event next month alongside the new Galaxy Watch 6 series, Galaxy Tab S9 series, and Galaxy Buds 3.

The leaked official images arrive from multiple sources which includes known tipster Evan Blass. Arriving at the last device that was leaked, the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic model were spotted in these recent promo images. We can see the base model in multiple color option, namely white, yellow, lavender, mint, and gray as well. On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic appears to feature its rotating bezel. This smartwatch might also launch with special band options as well.

Based on what we know so far, the South Korean tech giant is rumored to kick off its Galaxy Unpacked event next month, around the 26th or 27th of July 2023. The news arrives from a MySmartPrice report, who shared new design render of the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Sources close to the matter have leaked the render of the upcoming foldable phone, which finally offers us a first look at the device. Looking at this render, we can see the design of the device, which confirms the large new cover display on the Galaxy Z Flip 5. For those unaware, the upcoming Flip model has been rumored to feature a taller 3.4 inch external display. This is much bigger than the 1.9 inch that was seen in previous iterations. Notably, this makes it even larger than the 3.26 inch display found in the Oppo Find N2 Flip as well.

The dual camera setup is housed horizontally with the cover display situated right beneath it. Thanks to the higher screen real estate, the device will likely be able to add more functionality and display more information on this panel. The screen is not a simple squarish panel as the region below the camera module curves downward. Meanwhile, the LED flash is now housed right next to the dual camera setup. One such example is it being used as a better viewfinder for taking selfies with the higher resolution rear cameras. Rather than curving underneath the cameras, the design would’ve appeared to be a lot more seamless if the cover panel covered the entire rear with cutouts for the rear cameras. But this is likely a conscious choice by the brand and does not outright copy the design language of its competitor.

Based on what we know so far, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will feature a tall 6.7 inch primary AMOLED display that has a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. Under the hood, it will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and will be powered by a 3,700mAh battery pack that might support 25W fast charging. The rear will likely retain the 12 megapixel dual camera setup while the front houses a 12 megapixel selfie shooter. Samsung is the market leader when it comes to foldable smartphones, and the South Korean giant is now gearing up to launch the fifth generation of Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip smartphones.

While the launch of the upcoming foldable phones from Samsung is still months away, details about the devices keep surfacing online. In the latest development, it is claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 could come with support for dust resistance.

As per the report from Twitter user @chunvn8888, the next-generation foldable smartphones from Samsung will be IP58 rated, meaning water and dust resistance. Based on the ratings, the water resistance will be up to 1.5 meters deep for up to 30 minutes.

The current generation devices have IPX8 ratings, offering only water resistance. With the addition of dust resistance, the phone would be more durable and less likely to get damaged by dirt, sand, or other particles. This is more important because of the device being prone to damage due to dust, especially with additional mechanical parts like hinges.

Note that the report hasn’t been confirmed yet, so we advise you to take this information with a pinch of salt. However, we expect the addition of this feature in the upcoming foldable smartphones from the brand.

Recently, Motorola launched the Razr and Razr+ smartphones which come with an IP52 rating, offering the same level of dust resistance as IP68 but lacking the level of protection against water.
