For a long time, it remained exclusive to the Galaxy S25 series, but that changed today, as the brand has just released the first One UI 8.5 beta for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.

We knew it was coming. Earlier this week, One UI 8.5 beta builds for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 were spotted on Samsung’s servers, and shortly after, Samsung created One UI 8.5 beta program sections for the devices on its community forum.

For the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, the first One UI 8.5 beta comes with a firmware version ending in ZZC5 (via) and a hefty download size of 4.2GB. As of writing this post, the beta has been spotted in India and South Korea. It will also expand to a few more regions, including the US, the UK, Poland, and Germany.

This strongly suggests that Samsung is preparing to begin the One UI 8.5 beta program for these phones soon.

Once the beta program is live, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 owners will have a chance to get early access to the latest features and upgrades in One UI 8.5. Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything posted the teardown on August 25, following up on his durability test from earlier this month. Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Flip7 surprised everyone with its larger outer screen, but one big question remains for many buyers: how durable is the screen? Samsung Display recently revealed how durable the Galaxy Z Fold7’s inner screen is, and now everyone’s wondering if the Flip7 can match up.

According to Samsung Display (via Android Authority), the Z Flip7 uses the same advanced materials found in the Galaxy Z Fold7, which recently underwent durability testing by Bureau Veritas. “We internally assess that the foldable panel used in the Galaxy Z Flip7 also offers durability on par with that of the Fold7, as it incorporates various durability-enhancing technologies,” a Samsung Display spokesperson told Android Authority in response to concerns.

The book-style foldable can withstand:

• 500,000 folds at room temperature (25°C)
• 300,000 folds in high heat (60°C)
• 60,000 folds in freezing conditions (-20°C)

That’s a major improvement over last year’s Galaxy Z Fold6, which was rated for just 200,000 folds under normal conditions. If we compare the Z Flip7 to the 2023 Z Flip5, the difference is clear:

• Z Flip 5 was rated for 200,000 folds at room temperature
• Just 30,000 folds in the cold (-20°C)
• And 150,000 folds in heat (60°C)

The Z Flip7’s numbers — based on shared components with the Fold7 — suggest that Samsung has made major strides. For example, assuming you open and close the phone 100 times a day, the Flip7’s screen could last over 13 years under normal conditions, or around four years in freezing cold, even with regular use. While durability in harsh temperatures has improved, Samsung still recommends using the device in environments between 0°C and 35°C for best performance.

However, Motorola still has a slight edge thanks to its faster 165Hz refresh rate on both panels and LTPO 1-165Hz variable refresh on the external display. Performance

One of the ways Samsung avoided hiking the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s price was the shift to its in-house Exynos 2500 SoC. This is a 3nm chip that brings various improvements in performance and power efficiency. But the Snapdragon 8 Elite that powers the Razr Ultra 2025 is still one of the fastest chips on the market.

Samsung did make improvements with the Exynos 2500, but the 8 Elite is better for gaming and is also slightly more power efficient. Thanks to better thermals on the new Exynos chip, you won’t miss out on anything by going with the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Nevertheless, the Snapdragon 8 Elite has proven to be a great chip for everyday use and intensive tasks.

Battery & Charging

With the Galaxy Z Flip 7, the battery capacity got a bump from 4,000mAh from its predecessor to 4,300mAh. Unfortunately, the fast charging rate is still stuck at 25W wired and 15W wireless. So Motorola easily gets the win here thanks to its larger 4,700mAh battery. Even the wired and wireless charging is faster with 68W and 30W, respectively.

Camera

While both models have a dual camera setup on the rear, Motorola packs a 50MP (main, f/1.8, OIS) + 50MP (Ultrawide, f/2.0) on the back and a 50MP selfie shooter (f/2.2). In comparison, the Z Flip 7’s rear cameras include a 50MP (main, f/1.8, OIS) + 12MP (Ultrawide, f/2.2), with the front housing a 10MP camera for selfies. The main cameras are basically on par, but the ultra wide and selfie shooters’ better apertures and higher resolutions should translate to better picture quality (at least on paper).

Pricing & Verdict

Samsung just announced the Galaxy Z Flip 7 for a starting price tag of 1,099 US Dollars for the 256GB variant and 1,219 US Dollars for the 512GB option. This makes it more affordable than the Moto Razr Ultra 2025, which starts from 1,299 US Dollars for the 512GB option. As of right now, a limited time deal brings the 1TB variant of the Razr for 1,299 US Dollars as well (1,499 US Dollars original price) and there is even some freebies like a free smartwatch with the phone. So the Razr also brings great value.

In conclusion, the Razr Ultra 2025 is still slightly more expensive, offers a better camera setup, a larger battery, faster charging, and better performance. However, the Z Flip 7 is still capable in most of these regards, along with a better software experience with One UI. It also has strong cross platform connectivity, and Samsung has even included DeX as well (first time on any Z series phone). For photography, there are two 50MP camera on the Mix Flip 2, which includes a primary Leica Summilux lens and an ultra wide angle shooter. The front houses a 32MP selfie camera. A similar setup can be found on the Galaxy Z Flip 7, but the ultra wide angle is a 12MP shooter, while the front features a 10MP selfie sensor. On paper, the Chinese brand’s flip phone clearly has an edge here considering the higher resolution and Leica collaboration.

Pricing and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 starts from 1,099 US Dollars for the base 12GB + 256GB variant. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 start from 5,999 yuan for the same configuration, which is around 835 US Dollars. This makes it even more affordable than the value-focused Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has yet to release this model in the global market, so you can only get it by shipping it from China. So the Z Flip 7 is simply more easy to get your hands on. Xiaomi is the better deal overall, but Samsung with its strong ecosystem and consistent support is slowly catching up with its competitors.

The new “Cosmic Cabubu” lineup transforms the latest Samsung foldables into high-end collectible art pieces, featuring 24K gold, meteorite fragments, natural diamonds, and intricate enamel detailing. Prices start at $8,910 and go up to $10,340, making this the most expensive Samsung-based series Caviar has ever created.

The collection draws inspiration from Labubu, a cult pop character created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung. Labubu gained global popularity in 2025, with appearances on social media by celebrities such as Rihanna and Dua Lipa. Caviar adapted the character into its own version called Cabubu and reimagined it as a cosmic traveler. The company has dedicated each phone in the series to a different planet, Venus and Mars, representing beauty and power respectively.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 “Cabubu on Mars” features a titanium body finished with Swiss PVD coating. The back showcases a 3D figure of Zimomo, the male version of Cabubu, detailed with 24K gold and jewelry-grade enamel. Samsung has officially unveiled two new clamshell foldables alongside the flagship Galaxy Z Fold 7. The flagship Galaxy Z Flip 7 is the premium model with various upgrades over its predecessor, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is the first of its kind value value-focused flip phone from Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7

The South Korean tech giant has made a few small but noticeable changes to the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung’s older Galaxy Z Flip 6 was one of the smaller flip phones with a smaller 6.7-inch main folding display. But the Galaxy Z Flip 7 bumps it up to a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, and 2600 nits of peak brightness.

Even the cover screen is getting taller as well, with a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow screen that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. This is finally an edge-to-edge screen like other modern flip phones. However, the cover panel only has a 1048 x 948 pixel resolution and either a 60Hz/120Hz refresh rate.

On the design front, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 measures 13.7mm when folded (6.5mm unfolded) and weighs relatively light at 188 grams. While this is thicker than the Z Flip 6, the hinge has gotten thinner and more durable thanks to the new Armor FlexHinge and Armor Aluminum Frame. You also get an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance.

Samsung has made a major shift for the first time with its foldable smartphone with the Flip models. Snapdragon had powered all Samsung foldables so far, but the Galaxy Z Flip 7 skips the Snapdragon 8 Elite on the Z Fold 7 with the Exynos 2500 SoC that could disappoint some fans of Samsung’s flip phones.

The popular Fan Edition series has finally made its way to foldables, bringing cutting edge tech with a more affordable price tag. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is a new entry in the Z Flip family. It measures 14.9mm when folded (6.9mm when unfolded) and weighs 187 grams. For protection against the elements, there is an IP48 rating.

Similar to the Z Flip 6, the FE model has a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex main display with an FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, along with a 3.4-inch HD Super AMOLED cover panel with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and a 60Hz refresh rate.

It features a 4.1-inch cover display, per another leaked “official Samsung promo” shared by tipster Ronald Quandt. The promo refers to it as an “Infinity FlexWindow.”

Now, about that twist — the same promo material says the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, which is expected to be a rebranded Z Flip6 powered by the Exynos 2400, also includes a 4.1-inch cover display. The Flip6 had a 3.4-inch cover screen. If this holds true, the Flip7 FE could become a very appealing option for Galaxy fans, offering nearly identical hardware at a lower cost — save for the chipset swap from the Flip7’s Exynos 2500 to the FE’s Exynos 2400. Still, take it with a pinch of salt, as it sounds almost too good to be true. Most previous leaks and renders hinted at a Flip6-like design for the FE.

While fans were hoping for a boost in durability, it looks like that won’t be the case this time.

According to a European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) listing, both the Z Flip7 and Flip7 FE will carry the same IP48 rating as last year’s Z Flip6. The certification confirms that the foldables will have limited dust protection (against particles over 1mm) and can survive water submersion up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

That puts them on par with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7, which is also expected to stick with IP48, and behind competitors like vivo’s X Fold5 and Honor’s Magic V5, which offer a safer IP59 rating. Honor’s offering also regains the crown of the slimmest foldable, overtaking Oppo’s Find N5 and Samsung’s Z Fold7.. While the IP rating in the upcoming Galaxy foldables isn’t a downgrade, it may disappoint those hoping for full dust resistance in this generation.

The EPREL listing also confirms the battery capacities of the two flip phones. The standard Z Flip7 will pack a 4,300mAh battery (4,174mAh rated)—a small but welcome upgrade over the 4,000mAh unit in the Flip6. Interestingly, Samsung has managed to squeeze in the extra capacity despite a thinner design—just 13.7mm when folded and 6.5mm when unfolded—likely powered by the Exynos 2500 chip.

While Nothing hasn’t confirmed Phone (3)’s camera setup, it has confirmed that one of the three is a 50MP periscope telephoto unit.

The black circle on the right is for the Glyph Matrix. There’s no iconic Glyph Interface that we are used to seeing in Nothing phones. The brand will likely use the new Glyph Matrix in upcoming high-end phones as well.

The Phone (3) is expected to feature a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 1.5K resolution and a 5,150mAh battery with 100W wired and 15W wireless charging support. It’s confirmed to pack the powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset for smooth performance. The phone will receive Android updates for five years and security updates for seven years.

2. AI+ Smartphones

Launch date: July 8, 2025 (official)

The new AI+ smartphone brand, led by Realme India’s former CEO, Madhav Sheth, is all set to launch its first smartphones next week. The upcoming phones — AI+ Nova 5G and AI+ — Pulse are designed and built in India and will be exclusively sold through Flipkart.

The smartphones have a starting price of INR 5,000, but this likely includes card discounts as well. We’ll have better clarity about the pricing at the launch. The front side could come with a 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor.

The Realme 15 series is confirmed to launch soon in India. Although there’s no exact launch date yet, it will most likely be unveiled later this month.

The official teaser reveals that the brand will soon launch the Realme 15 5G and Realme 15 Pro 5G. There will likely be a “Pro+” variant at a later stage. Most of the things about the Realme 14 series are under covers.

The Realme 15 Pro is being positioned as an “AI Party Phone,” suggesting that the device will come with loads of AI features. The official poster also hints at flagship features for the Pro model that were previously exclusive to the Plus line of Realme smartphones.

6. Vivo X Fold 5 and X200 FE

Vivo X Fold 5 and Vivo X200 FE are officially confirmed to launch soon, most likely this month.

The Vivo X Fold 5 may feature an 8.03-inch LTPO inner screen and a 6.53-inch cover screen, both supporting a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s said to be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

The foldable phone could feature a triple camera setup on the rear side, including a 50MP (Sony IMX921) primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP (Sony IMX882) periscope telephoto unit. It’s expected to house a 6,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired and 40W wireless charging speeds.

The Vivo X200 FE will likely launch alongside the X Fold 5 sometime this month. Key specs include an LTPO AMOLED panel, Dimensity 9300+ chipset, and a 6,500mAh battery with 90W fast charging support. The device may feature a triple camera setup, including a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP telephoto lens, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. For selfies, it will have a 50MP camera.

7. Motorola Moto G96

Launch date: July 9, 2025

The Moto G96 launch is also due for this month. The device features a stylish design and will be offered in four colors: Ashleigh Blue, Greener Pastures, Cattleya Orchid, and Dresden Blue, all with a vegan leather finish.

The Motorola smartphone will feature a 6.67-inch 3D curved pOLED screen with 144Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset. The device is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance.

According to earlier reports, the Moto G96 will feature a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide secondary camera on the rear, as well as a 32MP front-facing camera. It could be equipped with a 5,500mAh battery with support for 68W fast charging.

8. Tecno Pova 7 series

The Honor X9c 5G is teased to launch soon in India, most likely during the Prime Day sale, which is scheduled to go live on July 12. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold7 — Samsung’s most premium foldable — is confirmed to continue using the Snapdragon (Snapdragon 8 Elite), keeping its top-tier performance intact.

While SamMobile suggests that the Exynos 2500 might be a better fit for the Flip7 than the Snapdragon 8 Elite—given thermal concerns on the slim Galaxy S25 Edge—this theory runs into a snag: the Z Fold7 is actually thinner than the Flip7. That makes the speculation less convincing. It’s more likely that Samsung’s decision to use Exynos in the Flip7 is a cost-saving move, especially since the Flip doesn’t demand the same peak performance as the larger Fold. As for the Flip7 FE, the Exynos 2400 is still a highly capable chip and could help Samsung keep the price competitive.

Benchmark results for the Exynos 2500 suggest notable performance gains over the previous generation, but real-world thermal performance is still unknown. Samsung might be making a bold shift in its upcoming foldables. According to a new report, the Galaxy Z Flip7 will be powered exclusively by the company’s own Exynos 2500 chip across all regions—a major departure from its usual reliance on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors.

Set to launch on July 9, the Z Flip7 could become the first foldable to adopt Samsung’s next-gen 3nm Exynos 2500 chip globally. This contrasts with an earlier rumor, which claimed the Z Flip7 would use the in-house chip only in Samsung’s home country.

The Exynos 2500 is Samsung’s first chip built on its advanced 3nm Gate-All-Around (GAA) process, aimed at improving power efficiency and thermal control. It features a 10-core CPU configuration: a single Cortex-X5 (X925) core at 3.3GHz, two Cortex-A725 cores at 2.74GHz, five more A725 cores at 2.36GHz, and two Cortex-A520 efficiency cores at 1.8GHz. The chip also packs an Xclipse 950 GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture, offering support for ray tracing and 8K video at 30fps. On the AI front, it boasts a 59 TOPS NPU.

Samsung seems to be focusing on better software tuning and cost savings with its decision to use the Exynos chip globally for the Z Flip7. The 3nm process behind the Exynos 2500 could also lead to improved power efficiency, which might help with battery life. That said, it’s still too early to say for sure, as Samsung hasn’t shared any concrete efficiency numbers to compare with the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s. The battery is expected to see a small upgrade, going from 4,000mAh to 4,300mAh.

The Z Flip7 was recently spotted on Geekbench running the Exynos 2500, with scores of 2,356 in single-core and 8,076 in multi-core tests. That’s a solid jump from the Z Flip6’s multi-core score of 6,857. But as always, benchmark numbers don’t tell the full story—especially when it comes to how well a phone handles real-world, sustained performance. If you’re more interested in the book-style foldable, that one is confirmed to stick with the Snapdragon 8 Elite globally, likely to offer better multitasking and sustained performance.

We’re still a couple of weeks away from Samsung officially unveiling the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, but the rumor mill has already done most of the heavy lifting. 

Now, a new report might have dropped the final piece of the puzzle, the pricing, at least for the European market. The foldables were spotted on an Italian retailer’s website by the Dutch publication NieuweMobiel.

Yes, the prices are going up

According to the leak, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, listed under the codename “Q7,” will reportedly start at €2,227 for the 256GB variant, while the 512GB model could come in at €2,309. Both prices include Italy’s 22 percent VAT, and both are about €200 more expensive than last year’s Fold 6. Ouch.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7, codenamed “B7,” doesn’t escape the price hike either. Its 512GB version is reportedly priced at €1,425.51, around €100 more than its predecessor.

As always, it’s best to take pre-release pricing with a grain of salt. These listings have a tendency to shift, and official numbers will likely arrive at Samsung’s Unpacked event next month. But if these figures are accurate, Samsung’s next foldables could be the most expensive yet.

While the Fold 7 and Flip 7 might be expensive, a saving grace for Samsung could be the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. According to a previous report, the Flip7 FE will launch in Samsung’s home market at around KRW 1 million, which translates roughly to $740, €645, or £545.

Just don’t expect those converted prices to reflect actual global pricing. Local taxes and market positioning often push those numbers higher in the US and Europe.

It’s a feature Skylo says already saves lives, with emergency messages sent almost daily across 37 countries, including Iceland. We are not so far now from the launch of Samsung’s newest foldables. The Flip 7 among them is probably Samsung’s most predictable foldable, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. After six iterations of the Flip series, Samsung seems content refining the formula rather than rethinking it.

For this generation, Samsung is expected to make the foldable more durable, reduce the crease, and possibly bring back its in-house silicon. Here’s everything we know about the Galaxy Z Flip 7 so far.

A slightly tweaked design

If you were expecting a radical design overhaul, you’ll probably be disappointed. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 will retain the basic silhouette of previous models but with a few noticeable changes. 

Based on leaks, the device will be slightly taller than the Flip 6, measuring at 166.6 mm (vs 165.1mm) when unfolded, though thickness will remain unchanged at 6.9mm.

Aesthetically, the biggest change will be on the outside. Samsung might finally ditch its unique “folder cutout” cover screen for a full-width rectangular display that houses the camera lenses within the panel area itself. This will increase the outer display length from 3.4 inches to a more usable 4.0 inches.

The internal folding display might also see minor dimensional changes, going from 6.7 inches to 6.85 inches. 

Display and Durability Improvements

The Z Flip 7 will still use Samsung’s Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2x panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2600 nits of peak brightness. There’s also speculation that Samsung might include its Color Filter on Encapsulation (CoE) display technology for glare reduction and screen efficiency. 

However, the Flip 7 will still miss out on some flagship features from its flagship slabs. This includes anti-reflective coating from S25 Ultra, along with Pro Scaler display tech and S Pen support. 

Moreover, leaks say Samsung will refine the hinge mechanisms on the new foldable to increase smoothness and reduce wear over time. Combined with thinner display layers and fewer mechanical parts, this may help reduce the infamous crease that persists across foldables.

Cameras are still the same

Sadly, the Flip 7 won’t bring any camera upgrades this generation as well.  Multiple leaks suggest it will recycle the Flip 6’s hardware: a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP selfie camera. That’s… fine, but not much else.

For a device likely priced above $1,000, the absence of a dedicated telephoto lens is disappointing. And while foldable phones aren’t primarily known for camera excellence, Samsung has had years to do more with the Flip’s imaging setup. Still, we could see some improvements on the software front, with new AI-powered photo tools expected as part of One UI 8.

Exynos or Snapdragon chip?

Perhaps the most debated change for the Z Flip 7 is the chipset. While early rumors hinted at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, newer reports suggest Samsung is going back to using its in-house Exynos chips, specifically the Exynos 2500.

This 3nm processor is expected to power most Z Flip 7 units globally, including in Europe. It has a deca-core setup featuring one Cortex-X925 at 3.3GHz, two Cortex-A725 cores at 2.75GHz, five more Cortex-A725s at 2.36GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores at 1.8GHz. Graphics will be handled by the Xclipse 950 GPU, which uses AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture.

In fact, the phone has been spotted on Geekbench with the same chip scoring 2012 and 7563 single and multi-core points, respectively. Still, it’s not sure whether Samsung will regionally divide the chipset choice like it did in the past. 

Regardless of the SoCs, the phone will be available with 8GB or 12GB of RAM paired with 256GB or 512GB of storage. 

There is also talk of a larger vapor chamber to improve thermal performance, which could help reduce throttling under heavy use. This would also support longer sustained performance, especially useful for multitasking and gaming. 

Battery and charging

One of the more tangible upgrades is battery size. The Flip 7 is rumored to pack a 4,300mAh battery, up from 4,000mAh in the Flip 6 and 3,700mAh in the Flip 5. That’s not insignificant, especially when paired with a more efficient chipset and display.

However, Samsung seems reluctant to improve on the charging front. It is expected to retain 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.

One UI 8 and Android 16 out of the box

As for the software version, Samsung might skip ahead this year and launch the Z Flip 7 with Android 16-based One UI 8. That is because Google has ramped up the launch of Android 16. The new version should refine AI features, improve core apps, and build on One UI 7’s functionality. 

Colors and pricing

So far, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 has been leaked in Blue Shadow and White Black, though Samsung typically launches with more shades later via Bespoke Edition options.

As for pricing, the Flip 7 is expected to launch at the same $1,099 starting price as the Flip 6. That price already saw a $100 hike over the Flip 5, so Samsung may be reluctant to go higher again. However, with new U.S. tariffs and fluctuating global production costs, some regional price increases aren’t out of the question.
