<p>A fresh round of accessory leaks from case maker Thinborne may have given us an early look at <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>&#8216;s next foldables, including the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-741124" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The case for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/06/04/galaxy-z-flip-8-might-use-snapdragon-in-some-regions-while-others-get-exynos/">Galaxy Z Flip 8</a> looks fairly unsurprising. Based on the leaked renders, Samsung doesn&#8217;t appear to be making any major changes to the overall design.</p>

<p>The Fold lineup is where things start to get more interesting.</p>

<p>We have been seeing <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/26/galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-leak-reveals-a-wider-form-factor-for-competing-with-iphone-fold/">renders</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/05/29/galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-dummy-appears-in-hands-on-video-revealing-design/">dummy units</a> of the wider Fold model for some time now, but the leaked cases add another piece of evidence pointing in the same direction.</p>

<p>The fact that accessory makers are already producing cases based on these dimensions also lends some credibility to the rumors. Case manufacturers typically work from supply chain information and early device measurements, which suggests the wider aspect ratio and revised camera layout we&#8217;ve been seeing in leaks may be reasonably close to the final product.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--1024x768.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-741125" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--696x522.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--1068x801.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--560x420.jpg 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_-.jpg 1706w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Samsung&#8217;s tall and narrow Fold design has its fans, but several competing foldables have already moved toward wider displays, and the response has generally been positive.</p>

<p>The wider form factor may also give Samsung more room to differentiate an &#8220;Ultra&#8221; model without completely reworking the formula.</p>

<p>According to current rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra could be slightly <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/06/03/galaxy-z-fold-8-ultra-specs-tipped-packs-larger-battery-weighs-the-same-gets-even-slimmer/">slimmer</a> than the Fold 7 while packing a larger 5,000mAh battery, a notable jump from the 4,400mAh capacity Samsung has used for several generations.</p>

<p>The Fold 8 Ultra case image doesn&#8217;t reveal much on its own, but it does support the idea that Samsung is focusing on refinement rather than a dramatic redesign.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="468" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Ultra-Carbon-Case-trademark-1024x468-1.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-741122" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Ultra-Carbon-Case-trademark-1024x468-1.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Ultra-Carbon-Case-trademark-1024x468-1-300x137.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Ultra-Carbon-Case-trademark-1024x468-1-768x351.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Ultra-Carbon-Case-trademark-1024x468-1-696x318.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Ultra-Carbon-Case-trademark-1024x468-1-919x420.webp 919w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>One detail that stood out, however, is the mention of Samsung&#8217;s Carbon Standing Case. It has a built-in stand makes a lot of sense on a large foldable, particularly for watching videos, video calls, or using the device at a desk.</p>

<p>Taken together, the leaks suggest Samsung is continuing to expand its foldable strategy rather than simply releasing yearly upgrades.</p>

<p>Samsung is expected to unveil the new foldables during its next Galaxy Unpacked event next month.</p>

<p>Reports suggest some versions of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/05/22/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-8-and-z-flip-8-expected-to-see-price-hikes/">Galaxy Z Flip 8</a> may run on Samsung’s Exynos 2600, while others could ship with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (likely a “for Galaxy” variant). If that happens, it would mark a return to Snapdragon in select markets after Samsung leaned more heavily on Exynos with the Z Flip 7.</p>

<p>The split reportedly won’t be random. Markets like the US, Canada, China, and Japan could get Snapdragon-powered units, while India, Europe, and South Korea may see the Exynos version.</p>

<p>Samsung traditionally powered its foldables (including flip models) exclusively by Qualcomm Snapdragon chips until it flipped the script last year. However, some <a href="https://nanoreview.net/en/soc-compare/samsung-exynos-2600-vs-qualcomm-snapdragon-8-elite-2">skepticism remains</a> around the efficiency and thermal performance of Samsung’s in-house silicon. Opting for Snapdragon in key markets like the US and Canada could help position the Flip 8 as a more consistent performer, while Exynos variants keep overall costs in check. It may also reflect limited production capacity for Samsung’s first 2nm chip.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Exynos-2600-vs-Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-1024x683-1.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-741009" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Exynos-2600-vs-Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-1024x683-1.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Exynos-2600-vs-Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-1024x683-1-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Exynos-2600-vs-Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-1024x683-1-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Exynos-2600-vs-Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-1024x683-1-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Exynos-2600-vs-Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-1024x683-1-630x420.png 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Benchmark results are mixed: some tests show the <a href="https://wccftech.com/exynos-2600-heat-pass-block-performs-better-than-liquid-nitrogen-cooled-snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5/">Exynos 2600 closing the gap</a> with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in multi-core performance and power efficiency, while <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/06/exynos-2600-vs-snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5/">others favor Snapdragon</a>. Nevertheless, Snapdragon-powered flagships are still widely regarded as offering a more consistent user experience across apps and regional variants.</p>

<p>If true, this <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/02/12/samsung-galaxy-s20-and-galaxy-s20-plus-launch-with-significant-upgrades/">wouldn’t be Samsung’s first time</a> mixing chipsets across regions, but it would be one of its more noticeable splits in the foldable lineup. The Z Flip 8 is expected to launch alongside the Z Fold 8 around July 22, 2026, though Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything yet.</p>

<p>For now, it’s still firmly in rumor territory. But it does point to Samsung continuing its dual-track strategy: pushing Exynos forward while still relying on Qualcomm where it matters most.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a> could end up increasing prices for some versions of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 as production costs continue rising across the industry.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-1024x576.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-739433" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-1024x576.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-768x432.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-1536x864.webp 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-1068x601.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-747x420.webp 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black.webp 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>According to a recent report from Korean outlet Newspim, Samsung has been dealing with higher chipset and memory prices ahead of the next foldable launch cycle. The company is reportedly <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/05/22/samsung-plans-to-use-boe-panel-on-galaxy-s27-to-save-5-per-unit/">trying to keep the starting prices unchanged</a>, but the higher storage variants may not be so lucky this time.</p>

<p>Right now, the expectation is that the base storage versions could launch at roughly the same prices as the current generation. The 512GB and 1TB models, however, are expected to cost more. Samsung has already been leaning in this direction recently, where the more expensive storage tiers quietly absorb most of the price increases.</p>

<p>The timing is not exactly surprising. DRAM prices have been climbing again, and AI demand has been putting extra pressure on the semiconductor market in general.</p>

<p>As for the actual hardware, early leaks suggest the Fold 8 series may focus more on refinement than major changes. Reports so far point to fairly iterative upgrades, and some rumors even claim the crease reduction may not improve dramatically compared to the previous generation.</p>

<p>There are also whispers that S Pen support and Samsung’s newer Privacy Display tech could remain absent, possibly as part of broader cost-control decisions.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-1024x576.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-739434" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-1024x576.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-768x432.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-1068x601.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-747x420.webp 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all.webp 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Samsung is still expected to unveil the new foldables sometime around late July, possibly during an Unpacked event in London. If the current pricing estimates are accurate, the base Fold 8 could still remain around the familiar $1999 range, while the higher-end versions may move even deeper into ultra-premium territory. The Flip 8 lineup could also see smaller increases depending on storage configuration.</p>

<p>Samsung still dominates the foldable market globally, but the competition is getting stronger every year, especially from Chinese brands pushing thinner designs and larger batteries. At the same time, Apple’s foldable ambitions continue to hang over the industry, even if the company still has not launched anything yet.</p>

<p>For Samsung, the challenge now is probably less about proving foldables work and more about convincing buyers that the next upgrades are worth paying even more for.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="574" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-1024x574.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-736457" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-1024x574.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-768x430.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-696x390.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-1068x598.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-749x420.jpg 749w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc.jpg 1383w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The images were shared by Sonny Dickson on X, showing dummy units of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, and Galaxy Z Flip 8. Since these are physical models rather than CAD renders, they offer a slightly better sense of proportions, especially when comparing the devices side by side.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="590" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-1024x590.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-736458" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-1024x590.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-300x173.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-768x442.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-696x401.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-1068x615.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-729x420.jpg 729w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8.jpg 1240w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The regular <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/24/galaxy-z-fold-8-specs-summarized-combination-of-upgrades-and-refinement-fans-would-appreciate/">Galaxy Z Fold 8</a> does not look like a major departure. It sticks to the tall and narrow form factor Samsung has been using from the beginning. The Flip 8 follows a similar story. It keeps the compact clamshell design, focusing on portability rather than screen size. There are no major surprises here based on the dummy.</p>

<p>The interesting device is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. This appears to be Samsung’s answer to Huawei&#8217;s Pura X lineup. Compared to the standard Fold 8, it is shorter and noticeably wider when folded, which should make the cover screen more comfortable to use. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/27/galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-vs-huawei-pura-x-max-dimensions-compared/">exact dimensions</a> have also been revealed.</p>

<p>When unfolded, the difference becomes more obvious. The wider aspect ratio gives it a layout that feels closer to a small tablet, which should be better for media, reading, and general browsing. It is a different approach from Samsung’s usual design, and one that some enthusiasts have been asking for. That said, how apps scale to the wider aspect ratio will likely make or break the experience.</p>

<p>As for the camera system, the dummy showcases a pill-shaped layout, similar to the Fold 8, but with two cutouts instead of three. As per recent leaks, these could be a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide. The lack of a telephoto lens is likely the trade-off for a first-generation wide foldable measuring just 4.3mm when unfolded.</p>

<p>Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series and Flip 8 at its next Unpacked event in July.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>’s next foldables seem to be moving closer to launch, with a new round of certifications in India giving a clearer picture of what’s coming. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/24/galaxy-z-fold-8-specs-summarized-combination-of-upgrades-and-refinement-fans-would-appreciate/">Galaxy Z Fold 8</a>, Z Flip 8, and what appears to be a wider Fold variant have all shown up, along with a new pair of earbuds.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-render-2.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-733342" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-render-2.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-render-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-render-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-render-2-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-render-2-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>Battery units for these devices recently cleared India’s BIS certification, which usually happens fairly late in the process. The listings include multiple battery model numbers tied to the Fold 8, Flip 8, and the so-called <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/26/galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-leak-reveals-a-wider-form-factor-for-competing-with-iphone-fold/">Galaxy Z Wide Fold</a>, though Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed that name yet. The new audio product is expected to be the recently leaked Galaxy Buds Able (model SM-U600).</p>

<p>The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the wider Fold variant are both <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/17/samsung-may-finally-boost-galaxy-z-fold-battery-beyond-4400mah-in-2026/">expected to move up to 5,000mAh</a> batteries (advertised capacity). That would be a noticeable jump from the 4,400mAh Samsung has stuck with for a while. The Z Flip 8, on the other hand, is rumored to stay closer to its current setup, with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/13/galaxy-z-flip-8-battery-leak-may-disappoint-fans/">battery around 4,300mAh</a>.</p>

<p>Charging could see a small upgrade too. The Fold 8 and Wide Fold are tipped to support <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/23/galaxy-z-fold-8-pairs-faster-charging-with-long-awaited-battery-upgrade-confirms-3c-listing/">45W wired charging</a>, while the Flip 8 may continue with 25W, which is more or less what we’ve seen before.</p>

<p>The Wide Fold is probably the most interesting part of this. Leaks suggest it could use a wider 4:3 aspect ratio when unfolded, which might make it feel a bit more like a tablet than the usual Fold design. It’s still early, but it does sound like Samsung is experimenting a little this time.</p>

<p>There were also a few extra battery model numbers listed that don’t clearly match any of the main devices. These could be test units or alternate versions, though it’s hard to say for sure.</p>

<p>With <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/25/first-galaxy-z-fold-8-renders-surface-a-fairly-iterative-update-by-samsungs-standards/">CAD renders</a> already out and certifications now in place, the launch timeline seems to be lining up. Samsung is expected to unveil the new foldables sometime in July 2026. The appearance of the new earbuds in these listings adds to that. Details are still limited, but if they’re showing up here, there’s a good chance they’ll be announced around the same time.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a> has gradually increased the battery capacity in its clamshell foldables over the past few generations. But that trend may pause with the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-z-flip-8/">Galaxy Z Flip 8</a>, according to a new leak.</p>

<p>A report from GalaxyClub suggests the next Flip will keep the same 4,300 mAh typical battery capacity found in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/09/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-7-z-flip-7-fe-launch/">Galaxy Z Flip 7</a>. That would mark the first time in a while that Samsung hasn’t bumped the battery size for its compact foldable.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="976" height="549" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-14-132354.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-730545" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-14-132354.png 976w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-14-132354-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-14-132354-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-14-132354-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-14-132354-747x420.png 747w" sizes="(max-width: 976px) 100vw, 976px" /></figure></div>

<p>Like previous Galaxy Z Flip models, the device is expected to rely on two separate battery cells working together. The leaked figures point to capacities of 1,150 mAh and 3,024 mAh, which combine for a rated capacity of 4,174 mAh. Samsung typically rounds this up to the advertised 4,300 mAh typical capacity.</p>

<p>Even though the overall capacity appears unchanged, the split between the two cells is slightly different from last year’s model. That could simply be the result of internal design changes as Samsung continues refining the Flip’s slim folding body.</p>

<p>Battery capacity staying the same doesn’t necessarily mean endurance will remain unchanged, however. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/12/21/galaxy-z-flip-8-could-be-the-first-flip-phone-powered-by-a-2nm-chip/">rumored</a> to feature Samsung’s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/12/19/samsung-exynos-2600-launched-specifications/">2nm-based Exynos 2600</a> chipset, which could offer a significant boost in power efficiency over the 3nm-based <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/06/23/samsung-exynos-2500-chipset-launched-specs/">Exynos 2500</a> used in the Z Flip 7. Early tests also suggest the Exynos 2600 offers better thermal behavior under heavier workloads such as gaming or multitasking.</p>

<p>Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 8 sometime in July 2026, likely during its usual summer Galaxy Unpacked event. The phone should launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8, continuing the company’s yearly foldable refresh cycle.</p>

<p>Pricing details remain unclear for now, though Samsung has generally tried to keep its Flip lineup relatively stable in price.</p>

<p>For now, the leaked battery information suggests the Flip 8 may focus more on efficiency and internal refinements rather than a straightforward capacity upgrade. Whether that translates into noticeably better battery life will depend largely on how Samsung balances the Exynos 2600’s performance and power consumption.</p>

Both foldables will launch around July 2026 with One UI 9 right from the box.</p>

<p>Perhaps the most intriguing is the appearance of a mysterious third device with the modem number <strong>SM-F971U</strong> running the build version <strong>F971USQU0AZB1</strong>. This could mean Samsung might also launch a third foldable phone alongside the Fold 8 and Flip 8 in the second half. We don&#8217;t know what it would be called, but rumors say this could be the Galaxy Wide Fold.</p>

<p>Alongside these three upcoming foldable phones, the One UI 9 test build has also been <a href="https://x.com/tarunvats33/status/2022154102961320163" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">spotted</a> for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This is kind of surprising, as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 hasn&#8217;t even received the One UI 8.5 update.</p>

<p>So, here&#8217;s a list of Samsung devices that are currently under One UI 9 testing:</p>

<ul><li>Galaxy Z Fold 8</li><li>Galaxy Z Flip 8</li><li>Galaxy Wide Fold (name unconfirmed)</li><li>Galaxy Z Fold 7</li></ul>

<p>The list is currently small, as Samsung began testing One UI 9 just recently. It will grow in the coming days, especially after the One UI 8.5 release, when more of the company&#8217;s focus will shift towards One UI 9.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s important to highlight that One UI 9 testing is happening internally, so you can&#8217;t download and test the firmware on your Galaxy device. The presence of such test builds on the server indicates that the company is testing the firmware behind closed doors to ensure a stable, smooth rollout in the future.</p>

<p>While Samsung has begun development of One UI 9 for its Galaxy devices, its primary focus will be the Galaxy S26 series, which is launching later this month with One UI 8.5. In late April, we might see One UI 8.5 rolling out to older Galaxy devices. You can check the list of eligible devices <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/02/02/when-will-your-samsung-galaxy-receive-one-ui-8-5-update/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here</a>.</p>

While the company hasn’t officially confirmed dates yet, a recent tweet has offered us a full roadmap of all the big 2026 announcements. So let&#8217;s check it out.</p>

<h2>Early 2026: Samsung&#8217;s Galaxy Unpack 2026</h2>

<p>The first major date in Samsung’s 2026 calendar looks to be 25th February 2026, which is when the Galaxy Unpacked event will take place. This will have the South Korean tech giant unveil its highly anticipated Galaxy S26 lineup, consisting of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/01/19/samsung-galaxy-s26-galaxy-s26-full-specs-revealed-with-flagship-exynos-snapdragon-chips/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S26</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/01/19/samsung-galaxy-s26-galaxy-s26-full-specs-revealed-with-flagship-exynos-snapdragon-chips/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S26+</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/02/04/heres-the-samsung-galaxy-s26-ultra-in-all-four-colors/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S26 Ultra</a>.</p>

<p>While it is unclear if the brand will announce other products during the event, February could likely include the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/01/26/new-galaxy-buds-4-pro-buds-4-near-global-launch-samsungs-premium-tws-get-certified/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro</a> launches as Samsung&#8217;s flagship TWS, along with the new Galaxy Book 6 series that should be powered by the next-gen processors.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="682" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-1024x682.png?x44794" alt="Galaxy S26 Ultra - Cobalt Violet" class="wp-image-725485" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-1024x682.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple.png 1340w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra in Cobalt Violet</figcaption></figure></div>

<h2>Mid 2026: Galaxy Z Series &amp; More</h2>

<p>Samsung’s second big event of 2026 is expected around July. The company is expected to unveil its latest foldable devices, like the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and potentially a Galaxy Z Flip 8 FE model. This would continue its strategy of refreshing both premium and affordable foldables.</p>

<p>Alongside these, Samsung could also roll out updates to its new Galaxy Watch lineup that may include the top end Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Galaxy Watch 9 series. Apart from this, the tip from <em><a href="https://x.com/_TheJasonC/status/2018743996198404409" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jason C.</a></em> on X (formerly Twitter) also points to the Galaxy Tab S12 series debuting in the middle of the year. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt for now.</p>

<p>This would follow the move made with the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which marked the first time the Flip series moved away from Snapdragon and adopted an Exynos chip instead. Up until then, every Galaxy Z Flip model since the original 2020 launch had relied on Qualcomm processors. The switch with the Z Flip 7 signaled a change in strategy, with Samsung seemingly more confident in deploying its own silicon in premium foldables.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="551" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-2-1024x551.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7" class="wp-image-697182" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-2-1024x551.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-2-300x161.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-2-768x413.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-2-1536x827.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-2-696x375.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-2-1068x575.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-2-780x420.jpg 780w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-2.jpg 1585w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7</figcaption></figure>

<p>The Exynos 2600 was officially unveiled just recently and is also expected to power Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ models. However, rumors suggest the Exynos variants of the S26 lineup may remain exclusive to the home country.</p>

<p>Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/12/19/samsung-exynos-2600-launched-specifications/">is positioning</a> the 2nm-based Exynos chip as a step forward in both performance and efficiency, which is particularly important for compact devices like the Flip. However, past Exynos launches suggest it’s worth waiting for real-world performance data before drawing conclusions.</p>

<p>Apart from the 2nm-based chip, another highlight of the Flip 8 will be its thickness — suggests a recent leak. Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/12/18/galaxy-z-flip-8-will-be-signiificantly-slimmer-than-flip-7-claims-tipster/">apparently has plans</a> to slim down the upcoming flip, following what it did with the Fold 7.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-7/">Galaxy Z Flip 7</a> launched in July 2025, and Samsung is expected to follow a similar timeline for the Galaxy Z Flip 8. At this stage, specifications remain subject to change, and Samsung has not confirmed any details.</p>

<p>Still, the report suggests Samsung is serious about establishing Exynos as a long-term solution for its foldables, at least for the Flip lineup. Whether that approach pays off will likely depend on real-world performance and efficiency once the device launches.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a> grabbed headlines in 2025 with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-7/">Galaxy Z Fold 7</a>’s ultra-thin design, but early leaks suggest the company may shift focus to its flip lineup next year. According to new rumors, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could be in line for more noticeable upgrades. The Fold 8, on the other hand, will reportedly stick to a more conservative, refinement-focused update.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1000" height="555" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7" class="wp-image-696181" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7.jpg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-300x167.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-768x426.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-696x385.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-757x420.jpg 757w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>X tipster @TheGalox_ claims Samsung is working on a considerably slimmer body for the Z Flip 8. While no exact measurements have leaked so far, the move makes sense. The Z Fold 7 finally feels like a bar phone when folded (8.9mm), while the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-7/">Flip 7</a> measures 13.7mm when folded. Many of the structural changes from the Fold 7 could be carried over to the next Flip model, making it significantly more attractive.</p>

<p>But what about the battery? &#8220;It’ll be the first time in many years it gets thinner while keeping or even increasing the current battery size,&#8221; says the tipster.</p>

<p>In fact, thickness remains one of the biggest pain points for clamshell foldables, especially when folded and carried in a pocket. Any meaningful reduction here would be a welcome change for everyday use.</p>

<p>The leaks also point to display improvements, though specifics are still under wraps. Samsung has been steadily improving its foldable panels year over year, so this could involve further crease reduction, better durability, or refinements to brightness and efficiency.</p>

<p>On the performance side, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to continue Samsung’s push toward in-house silicon. The device is rumored to ship with the Exynos 2600, the same chip likely to power parts of the Galaxy S26 series.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="536" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Samsung-Exynos-2600-chip-1-1024x536.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-675870" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Samsung-Exynos-2600-chip-1-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Samsung-Exynos-2600-chip-1-300x157.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Samsung-Exynos-2600-chip-1-768x402.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Samsung-Exynos-2600-chip-1-696x364.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Samsung-Exynos-2600-chip-1-1068x559.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Samsung-Exynos-2600-chip-1-803x420.jpg 803w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Samsung-Exynos-2600-chip-1.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>As for timing, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is still expected to follow Samsung’s usual schedule, with a launch in the second half of 2026. There are no signs of delays or major production issues at this stage.</p>

<p>That said, it’s still early in the leak cycle, and details are likely to change. But if the latest rumor holds up, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could end up being a much more substantial upgrade than its predecessor.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>’s foldable lineup is seemingly gearing up for its biggest year yet — not with wild new form factors, but with smart refinements aimed at everyday users. Leaks out of Korea hint that the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip8 and Z Fold8 will be leaner, smarter, and built to push foldables out of the niche corner and into the mainstream.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="672" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-1024x672.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 &amp; Galaxy Z Flip 7" class="wp-image-700088" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-1024x672.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-300x197.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-768x504.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-696x457.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-1068x701.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-640x420.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-741x486.jpg 741w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7.jpg 1430w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7</figcaption></figure>

<p>According to The Bell Korea, Samsung’s 2026 MX (Mobile eXperience) business roadmap sets a goal of 6.7 million combined Flip8 and Fold8 units, about a 10% boost over last year’s sales. The push is led by the Flip8, which is reportedly getting a major hardware revamp. There&#8217;s no mention of a Flip8 FE yet.</p>

<p>The Galaxy Z Flip8 is shaping up to be Samsung’s thinnest clamshell yet. Sources suggest the phone could measure just 9.5 mm when folded, roughly 30% slimmer than the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-7/">Flip7</a>’s 13.7 mm profile. Early leaks suggest the same 6.9-inch inner display, and the slimmer design should make it easier to pocket.</p>

<p>The Galaxy Z Fold8, meanwhile, is expected to stay closer to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-7/">Fold7</a> formula. Expect brighter AMOLED panels and S Pen support refinements, but no major redesign.</p>

<p>With the TriFold expected to arrive as a limited release and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/11/11/samsung-galaxy-s26-series-might-finally-get-an-overdue-charging-update/">Galaxy S26 series</a> on the horizon, the Flip8 and Fold8 carry the task of bringing foldables to more people. If Samsung can deliver a 9.5 mm Flip that feels as sturdy as it looks, it might finally have a clamshell ready for the masses.</p>

<p>As 2026 approaches, Samsung’s message seems to be clear: the next chapter in foldables isn’t about showing off — it’s about shaving down, selling more, and making foldables feel like the future again.</p>

<h2>Samsung&#8217;s chip strategy for its upcoming flagships</h2>

<p>The Galaxy S26 series chip plan revives Samsung’s dual-chip strategy after the Snapdragon-exclusive S25 series, driven by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/11/06/exynos-2500-faces-production-setbacks-samsungs-3nm-yield-falls-below-20/">Exynos 2500’s yield issues</a>. A recent report out of South Korea claims the Exynos 2600, built on Samsung’s 2nm SF2 node with GAA FET architecture, will power the S26 and S26+ (or S26 Edge) in regions like Europe and Asia, while the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, made on TSMC’s 3nm N3P node, will fuel the S26 Ultra globally and the entire lineup in key markets. This mirrors the S24’s split, where the S24 Ultra used Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 worldwide, but the S24 and S24+ had Exynos 2400 in most regions.</p>

<p>Notably, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 “For Galaxy” will be manufactured using Samsung’s 2nm process, rather than TSMC’s. Qualcomm previously partnered with Samsung Foundry for the Snapdragon 888 and 8 Gen 1, but later returned to TSMC despite the higher costs—primarily due to performance and efficiency requirements. Will the 8th-generation foldables face similar issues as those earlier flagships? Only time will tell.</p>

<p>The Exynos 2600 and the 8 Elite 2 For Galaxy’s theoretical edge lies in its 2nm process, but TSMC’s N3P has historically outperformed Samsung’s nodes. Qualcomm’s dual-sourcing mainly aims to cut costs, as TSMC’s 3nm wafers are significantly pricier, reportedly priced at around $18,000 per wafer last year.</p>
