Flip phones have been in fashion ever since they first hit the market. I’m sure a lot of you remember how popular the Moto Razr series was, back in the early 2000s. We decided to start with a Nokia device, a brand that was once the king of the phone market. Last year, the company announced the 4G Nokia 2720 Flip, targeted at flip-phone lovers who don’t want to miss out on the high-speed 4G network. So it comes with popular services like Facebook, Whatsapp, and can even access Google apps like Maps and YouTube. 

The phone comes with a 1.3” external screen for time, date, and notifications, while features a slightly larger 2.8” QVGA display for the main content. It also comes with 11 hours of talktime, all thanks to its 1500mAh removable (yes, we said removable) battery. Given its 4G connectivity, note that the phone can also be used as a 4G hotspot for your laptop or tablet. 

The Nokia 2720 V Flip brings the right blend of 4G connectivity and flip form factor, making it a good option for those looking for a decent flip phone on a budget. 

Alcatel GO Flip V

Here’s another budget flip phone option for you – the Alcatel GO Flip V, that comes with LTE connectivity. The phone looks very similar to budget flip phones in the market and features a small external display and a larger 2.8-inch color display inside. As expected, the display isn’t touchscreen, but the keypad should do a good job for typing in your short mails or messages. 

Like the Nokia 2720, the GO Flip V is good for basic tasks like making phone calls, and messages. Note that the phone does have GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity, but the use case scenario for these new-age connectivity options would be limited. 

That said, if you want a basic phone or a secondary device, the Alcatel GO Flip V can be a good option under $150. 

Motorola RAZR 5G

The Razr 5G makes it come back in the form of a foldable. So the phone retains the iconic flip design of the old days but brings in the smarts of a 2022 smartphone. It comes with a relatively large 2.8-inch external screen along with a foldable 6-inch internal display that transforms it into a regular 2022 smartphone. 

While the phone is more than a year old, it comes with a pretty decent Qualcomm SM7250 Snapdragon 765G processor with up to 8GB of RAM. It has all the important features of a new-age smartphone, including a 48MP rear camera, and a fingerprint sensor. Battery life isn’t its best feature, as 2800mAh capacity with 15W is nowhere near the capacities we see on smartphones these days., 

That said, the phone is often available at good discounts and will be a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy Z Flip, which we talk about in the next section. 

Galaxy Z Flip3

If you are looking for a flip phone that brings the best of both worlds, i.e. the smartphone and the flip phone market, look no further than the Galaxy Z Flip3. Coming in a number of attractive colors, the phone comes with a large 6.7-inch internal display and a 1.9-inch external screen, offering an unfolded form factor very close to today’s smartphones. But there’s more. It also has one of the best processors of 2021, the Snapdragon 888 with up to 8GB of RAM, dual 12MP rear cameras, side-mounted fingerprint, a decent 3300mAh battery with 15W, and finally IPX8 certification. 

You really get the best of both worlds with the Galaxy Z Flip3, and if you have the budget upwards of $1000, look no further than this phone in this form factor. 

Kyocera DuraXV Extreme

Kyocera is a popular name among rugged phone enthusiasts, but many of you may not know that the company has a rugged flip phone on the market. Given its durability-focused design, you can basically toss it on the ground, wash it with soap, or do whatever you want with the phone and it will still survive. The company notes that the phone is certified for military spec 810G, so it can operate between -4 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit and is water, dust, heat, and shock resistant. 

On the outside, the phone has a 1-inch display while on the inside, you get a 2.6-inch 320 x 240 pixel display. Note that like other rugged devices, this model also features 4 dedicated programmable hardware buttons on its body. On the software end, it runs on a lite version of Android and only features basic apps like messaging, and mails. It will last you around 8 hours, which isn’t much, but it is not surprising given that flip phones generally have a small battery. 

Given its rugged form factor, the phone is more expensive than the Nokia, Alcatel options we mentioned above. But if you want a flip phone that can practically survive anywhere, the Kyocera DuraXV is your best bet. 

Nokia 8110 Banana Phone

The Nokia 8110 is not exactly a flip phone, but has a form factor that is nearly as unique as the phones in the list above. What’s more, with KaiOS onboard and 4G connectivity, it is smarter than most flip phones on this list. Did we mention that it runs apps like YouTube, Outlook, Gmail, Google Maps, and even Google Search?

So if you are looking for a phone with a unique form factor, it’s worth considering the Nokia 8110 Banana phone!

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 has remained in the rumor mills since November 2021. It was hinted that it will be released this year. There had been speculation that the Galaxy Z Flip3 successor will come with the same battery capacity as its predecessor. A new report monitored in the Netherlands has however indicated that the Z Flip4 will come with a bigger battery than the Z Flip3.

As per the Dutch publication, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 with model number SM-F721 will come with two batteries. The first battery is a sub-battery with a rated capacity of 2,400mAh, while the second battery is the main battery with a rated capacity of 903mAh. Therefore, the overall battery capacity of the Galaxy Z Flip4 is 3,303mAh, which is slightly higher than the Z Flip3’s total rated battery size. It is projected that the typical battery capacity of the new model will be at least 100mAh higher than its predecessor.

While the difference in battery capacity of the two devices is quite small (100mAh), it remains to be seen how much life Samsung will pack into the new battery in terms of efficient design improvements.

The current claims are still in the realm of speculations also, hence Samsung could come up with something quite different from the current speculations. There are no specifics yet about the exact release date for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 is one of the company’s latest foldable smartphone. It adopts a flip phone styled clamshell folding design and features a small cover display. But unlike the large secondary screen on the more expensive Galaxy Z Fold3, this one doesn’t offer complete functionality. Or does it?

According to an AndroidPolice report, a developer has undertook the task of making the small cover screen, which is usually used to display notifications and other basic information, into a full fledged phone display. In other words, you can use it as the primary screen when the device is in its folded state. The mod was made by developer jagan2 and is currently is available on the XDA forums.

This new solution is dubbed the CoverScreen OS and allows users to access a full app drawer, open apps, and even take actions from notifications right from the cover display. Without the mod, one would have to open up the flip phone and take actions via the larger primary panel. Notably, users can also flip the orientation to portrait to make certain app easier to use.

Looking at the images on the forum, CoverScreen OS does not appear as intuitive to use as the primary display. Meaning, it won’t be replacing the larger screen, however, its still a welcomed addition that expands the functionality of the small cover panel. Earlier, Samsung pushed the Android 12-based One UI 4 update for many devices across the world, and the Samsung W33 5G a.k.a the Galaxy Z Fold 3 for China also received the update. Later, the Z Flip also started receiving the update, but it was limited to the European markets. Now, users in the US have started getting the new update.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 devices on the Sprint network are receiving the notification for the new Android 12-based One UI 4 update. However, if you didn’t get any such notification, then do visit the software update tab in the settings and check for the update.

The new One UI 4 update for the US is for the Z Flip 3 versions with model number SM-F707U. It has the firmware version F700USQS4FUL9. It brings  December 2021 security patch and also has all the Android 12 features.

As said earlier, the update is currently available for devices on the Sprint network. But, we expect Samsung to release the update for devices on other carriers soon.

In related news, Samsung recently launched a special edition of the Z Flip 3 in China. The phone is called the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Olympic Games Edition and it comes with the Olympic logo embossed at the back. It has the Snapdragon 888 SoC under the hood and it costs a hefty ¥7,999 ($1,259) in China.

Last year, Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 Olympic Games Edition in Japan. As the name suggests, the special variant of the handset celebrated the 2020 Summer Olympics Tokyo. Now, ahead of the 2022 Winter Olympics Beijing, the South Korean tech giant has released the Galaxy Z Flip3 Olympic Games Edition in China.

The 2022 Winter Olympic Games are scheduled to start on February 4 in Beijing. Hence, to commemorate the occasion, Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Flip3 Olympic Games Edition in China.

The special version of the foldable smartphone arrives in a unique ‘Winter Dream White’ color option. The device retains the dual-tone finish with a black-colored bar at the top.

Further, the frame and the hinge feature a gold color finish. There’s also a Samsung as well as the official Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics logo at the bottom part of the rear panel.

Finally, the handset ships with a customized theme, icons, wallpapers, and cover screen clock style.

As far as price is concerned, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 Olympic Games Edition costs ¥7,999 ($1,259) in China for 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The phone is up for pre-order and will start shipping to customers from January 15.

Samsung is also selling a combo called ‘Galaxy Z Flip3 Olympic Games Edition United Set’ priced at ¥9,948 ($1,565). This includes the smartphone and a 32-inch Samsung Smart Monitor M7 4K.

Samsung has just reported an interesting sales detail related to the foldable smartphone market. Apparently, the company sold more foldable handsets during the launch month of the Galaxy Z Fold3 than its entire shipments last year.

According to an official press release (Via CNet), the South Korean tech giant shipped around four times more foldable phones in a month than its entire 2020 shipments. The sizeable jump in sales is solely attributed to the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 back in August 2021. Both models here well received across the globe, which help boost foldable sales eclipse last year’s shipments a couple of times over.

For those unaware, the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 are currently the latest foldable models from Samsung and arrive with various improvements over their predecessors. The former is the top end variant that costs around 1,800 US Dollars while the latter is more affordable of the two and usually retails around 999 US Dollars. While the company did not reveal any shipment figures officially, the news is in line with a previous report from Counterpoint Research, which estimated that the company will ship over 9 million foldable units in 2021.

This figure alone is around three times more than the overall shipments last year. Notably, the company also held dominance over the entire segment, with its foldable phone market share being around 88 percent last year. Its strong presence in the market is expected to carry over this year as well, although, newer foldable models from new rivals entering the market would likely lower this in the coming years. A recent entry in the market includes the Oppo Find N, with Huawei also recently launching its P50 Pocket folding phone as well.

Samsung has been beta testing One UI 4.0 based on Android 12 for its devices for months. Some of them even started receiving the stable update in November. However, the rollout did not go as expected due to issues. Now, over a month later, the South Korean tech giant has finally fixed those problems and has begun seeding the stable update once again.

The stable Android 12-based One UI 4.0 was first made available for the Galaxy S21 series comprising of Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. The update was later rolled out for the Galaxy Z Flip3 and the Galaxy Z Fold3.

As mentioned earlier, the update rollout for the aforementioned handsets was halted due to bugs. Samsung seeded out yet another stable release but unfortunately, that also had issues.

It turns out that the compatibility between Google Play System and One UI 4.0 was responsible for the reported issues. The world’s largest smartphone brand has now fixed (via XDA Developers) this problem with the help of a patch from Google.

Hence, the company has now kicked off the One UI 4.0 stable update rollout for the above-mentioned phones with the fix. The update arrives with December 2021 security patches and the following firmware numbers.

Samsung is working on the new One UI 4 custom interface based on the latest Android 12 operating system. The South Korean giant recently closed beta testing for its flagship Galaxy S21 series phones.

Now, the company has started beta testing of the new Android 12-based Samsung One UI 4 for its latest foldable smartphones. The Galaxy Z Fold3 and the Galaxy Z Flip3 have now been added to the list of eligible devices.

Reports indicate that the users of Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 in South Korea and India can enroll in the beta testing program of One UI 4. Also, the devices must be unlocked to complete the enrollment process.

Eligble users can log into the Samsung Members application and then tap on the One UI 4 beta enrollment button from the Notices page. After enrolling, the update should be available to download within a few minutes.

Samsung showed off its Material You implementation for One UI and also demonstrated the ability to set health goals with others using Samsung Health Together, so groups can compete in completing training or exercise goals.

There’s a new feature named Quick Share that allows seamless transfer between Galaxy devices, and much more. Similar to Apple’s Lost Mode, the new One UI 4 update also expands SmartThings Find to stuff such as the Galaxy Buds and S Pens, leveraging up to 1.5 billion instances of data exchange between Samsung devices in a network to help pinpoint a lost accessory’s location.

Back in August, Samsung had launched its latest generation of foldable smartphones. This included the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3. Now, the company has launched the latter in a new color option in China.

The South Korean tech giant’s Galaxy Z Flip3 will now arrive in a new Sweet Pink color option. Looking at this color option, we can see that the foldable handset sports a soft pink color scheme for its rear panel, which is likely to appeal to the Chinese youth. But apart from the aesthetical difference, the new color option doesn’t appear to offer any other difference than the other variants that had previously launched in the region.

Notably, the smartphone will be available for pre-orders later today at 10pm in China. So for those interested, can book the new color option for 7,999 Yuan (roughly 1,250 US Dollars). Since the Soft Pink color model is basically the same as the regular version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3, it houses 8GB of RAM paired with 256GB of internal storage. Its primary display is a 6.7 inch AMOLED panel while its secondary display is a 1.9 inch AMOLED panel that is housed next to the rear cameras. Under the hood, a 3,300mAh battery pack powers the device that is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip.

Samsung will let buyers choose between black or silver for the frame and from blue, pink, yellow, white, and black for the top and bottom. Sure, the colors are not as many as Xbox offers for its Xbox Design Lab program but there are 49 different combinations to choose from.

Once you are done choosing, you can place your order. Samsung is charging $1099.99 for the Galaxy Z Flip3 Bespoke Edition. This is the same price the 256GB version of the phone sells for. Does that mean Samsung is charging you extra for the customization? Not at all. The Galaxy Z Flip3 Bespoke Edition has 256GB of storage too. What Samsung is doing is practically allowing buyers to customize the 256GB version of the phone.

Samsung is even offering an option to replace the colors of the bottom and top part when you get bored but at an extra fee under a service called Bespoke Upgrade Care.

The Bespoke customization is also available for the Galaxy Watch4 series via what it calls the Galaxy Watch4 bespoke Studio. Buyers will be able to choose from different types/colors of bands and three different colors for the case.

Samsung offering a customization option for its phones isn’t a first for the mobile industry. Motorola used to offer a similar service called Moto Maker which even allowed users to engrave their devices after choosing the colors or materials they want for their phones. Nevertheless, it is nice to see that manufacturers are offering customers a chance to customize their phones.

The Galaxy Z Flip3 is arguably the hottest foldable smartphone in the market right now. The device is in the news since its debut. That’s because Samsung has been continuously promoting it one way or another. For the latest promotion, the South Korean tech giant has partnered with Marvel and Disney.

Samsung has announced (via SamMobile) two new accessories for the Galaxy Z Flip3 in association with Marvel and Disney. The first one is a Marvel-branded strap and the second one is a Mickey Mouse-shaped ring.

These two products are currently exclusive to Taiwan priced at NT$690 and NT$890 respectively. They can be attached to the official silicon cover for Galaxy Z Flip3 sold by Samsung.

Above all, the new accessories will be only available at Samsung Experience Hall, Samsung Wisdom Hall, and Samsung Mall. The limited availability suggests that the new strap and ring may not make their way to other markets.

At the same time, the company also unveiled six additional straps for Galaxy Z Flip3 designed by local Taiwanese artists. However, the availability of these straps will be only announced in November.

Lastly, the Galaxy Z Flip3-shaped case for Galaxy Buds Live, Galaxy Buds Pro, and Galaxy Buds2 also made their debut in Taiwan priced at NT$990.

If you are worried about how durable Samsung’s new foldable phones are, you shouldn’t be. The Galaxy Z Fold3 already proved to us that it is significantly better than its predecessors in all ways when it survived JerryRigEverything’s durability test. Now the Galaxy Z Flip3 has been put through the same test and the result shows Samsung didn’t skimp on quality on the smaller foldable phone.

The Galaxy Z Flip3 also has two displays, though they are much smaller than the ones on the Galaxy Z Fold3. The outer display, which is bigger than that of the original Galaxy Z Flip, is the stronger of the two screens. It scratches at a level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7, thanks to the sheet of Gorilla Glass Victus protecting it. It also holds up on the flame test, lasting up to 25 seconds before turning white.

The foldable display is not as strong which isn’t surprising. Simply running your fingernail on the screen with a bit of pressure will cause grooves to appear. However, the display does hold up pretty well and is still functional and undamaged even after being bent twice!!

The Galaxy Z Flip3 has its frame made of metal, so it will survive drops. There is also a rubber lip around the display that absorbs the shock when you snap the phone shut. The phone isn’t dustproof but it is force-fed dust and it comes out working fine.

Samsung has done an impressive job with the Galaxy Z Flip3, proof that it isn’t experimenting with this new product category but making phones the average person can use.

Samsung had a launch in China today during which it announced all of its new products that were unveiled at the last Galaxy Unpacked event in August. The lineup of products includes the Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3, Galaxy Buds2, and Galaxy Watch4 series.

Galaxy Z Fold3

The Galaxy Z Fold3 5G will be available in a single configuration with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Buyers will be able to buy it in Meteorite Black, Glen Green, and Snow Silver. The price tag is put at ¥14,999 (~$) while the Thom Browne edition will sell for ¥25,499 (~$3947).

Galaxy Z Flip3

Samsung will offer the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G in Moonlight Champagne, Meteorite Coast, Summer Night Forest, and Dreamland Aurora. It will be available in two versions – 8GB RAM + 128GB and 8GB RAM + 256GB priced at ¥7,599 (~$1176) and ¥7,999 (~$1238) respectively. Samsung Electronics is apparently planning on expanding the production capacity for its foldable smartphones. The news arrives as the company’s newly launched Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 handsets see an unexpected demand across the globe.

As per KedGlobal, Samsung Display, the company’s display technology unit, has increased its annual production capacity of foldable panel by 47 percent, marking an increase from 17 million units to 25 million units. The South Korean tech giant is also planning on expanding its Bac Ninh plant in Vietnam in the second half of this year. This site will seek to reach full operation scale by the end of this year or early next year.

Furthermore, experts believe that after the company’s expansion plans are completed, the brand will be producing 10 million units of Galaxy Z Fold3 and and 15 million units of Galaxy Z Flip3 models a year. For those unaware, Samsung aims on raising production since the demand for its new foldable smartphones was higher than initially expected. Notably, its third generation of foldable phones saw about 920,000 pre orders in South Korea, which is around 1.8 times more than even its newly launched Galaxy S21 flagship smartphone.

Sources also added that the pre orders in the US even surpassed the brand’s second generation foldable phone sales in the country between the months January and July 2021. The source further stated that “Samsung’s factories that make foldable devices are already operating at full capacity. Samsung has no option but to expand its facilities. It will likely add three more production lines to its current seven, which will allow the company to manage the production volume more flexibly.”

With the recent launch of the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3, Samsung has lowered the prices for the new foldable smartphones even further. The company expects these devices to become more common in the high end segments of the smartphone market.

While the Galaxy Z Fold2 launched for 1,999 US Dollars back in 2020, the newly released Galaxy Z Fold3 costs 1,799 US Dollars at launch. In other words, the company is clearly working on making these devices more affordable and available to the broader audience. According to DigiTimes, the South Korean tech giant even cited a Strategy Analytics report that estimated that the global demand for foldable phones will reach 6.5 million units in 2021, which is nearly three times higher than a year prior.

Furthermore, the report added that foldable phone shipments is expected to surpass 100 million units by the year 2025. Notably, the Galaxy Z Flip3 that was launched alongside the Fold model is cheaper of the two and arrives with a price tag of around 1,000 US Dollars. This puts it in a price point similar to many premium grade flagship handsets like iPhones or even Samsung Galaxy S series models. The brand added that high end handsets are becoming more ‘demassified’ and each new model series has its own target customers.

Additionally, Jacob Chen, Samsung Taiwan Vice President, stated that the brand has doubled their budget for marketing of the new foldable phones this year, compared to that for the Note series. He added that the push in promotion seeks to elevate the new foldable devices’ sales to a level seen by the Note series last year. Chen also said that the company is confident in seeing higher sales, with sales already exceeding expectations in South Korea.

A couple of weeks ago, Samsung officially launched its latest foldable smartphones — Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3. On 11th August, the company started taking pre-orders for these new phones, promising shipments on or before 27th August.

The general sales for the new foldable smartphones are also scheduled to begin from 27th August but it seems that the South Korean giant isn’t able to keep up with the demand and is reportedly delaying shipments.

As per the report from All About Samsung, customers in Germany who pre-ordered the Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3, and the new Galaxy Watch4 series smartwatches are getting emails from the company notifying them about shipping delays. It is also being claimed that shipment for some of the customers could be delayed till mid-September.

Samsung says that this is happening because of the high demand for its newly launched products. This seems to be in line with the previous report, which revealed that the pre-orders for the latest smartphones from the brand have exceeded the South Korean technology giant’s highest projections.

Recently, it was reported that by the end of last week, pre-orders for the new foldable phones crossed the mark of 450,000 units and were speculated to reach 600,000 units by the end of the pre-order period. If the unlocked model is also to be included in the mix, then the numbers could reach 800,000 units. For context, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 had received about 80,000 pre-orders when it was launched.

Just like the Galaxy S21 series announced this year, the Galaxy Z Flip3 and Galaxy Z Fold3 won’t come with a charger in the box. While that is true for some markets such as the U.S., it is not the case in China.

The product details pages on the Samsung eShop for the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 mention the contents of the box and it includes a charger and a USB-C to USB-C cable. According to the leaker that goes by @Chunvn8888 on Twitter, the charger is a 25W adapter, so you are able to charge both phones at their highest supported power rating.

The Galaxy Z Flip3 is priced at ￥8,599 for the 8+128GB version in China and that converts to ~$1327, a significantly higher price than the $999 price tag it goes for in the U.S.

The Galaxy Z Fold3, on the other hand, has a price tag of ￥15,599 (~$2469) and that gets you the 12GB RAM + 512GB version. In the U.S., it will sell for $1899.99. Considering China is paying a whole lot more, we can all agree that the least they can get is a free charger in the box.

Both devices are already available for preorder on the Samsung eShop for China.

WhatsApp users have been begging for a native method to migrate their conversations from iOS to Android and vice versa for years. Back in April, it was revealed that WhatsApp was working on the feature. It has been four months now and its live starting with the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3.

The announcement was made during the Galaxy Unpacked event today as one of the features of the new phones. iPhone owners picking up the new Galaxy Z phones will be able to migrate their chat history including photos and video.

The chat migration feature will roll out to other Galaxy phones running Android 10 and above in the coming weeks and should eventually be available for all Android devices, though WhatsApp didn’t say when that will be.

Migrating your chat from an iPhone to the Galaxy Z Fold3 or Galaxy Z Flip3 requires a Lightning cable to USB-C cable. This means you won’t be able to get access to your chats if your iPhone is busted. That’s a bummer.

The Galaxy Z Flip3 is the second of two foldable phones announced by Samsung today. However, this might be the one a lot more people will go for, thanks to its more affordable price and smaller form factor.

Galaxy Z Flip3 Design

The Galaxy Z Flip3 has undergone a significant redesign and a good one at that. The major change is the cover display which is now larger and greatly enhances the user experience. Users will be able to view and cycle through notifications without needing to unfold the phone. The screen can also serve as a viewfinder when you want to take selfies with the dual rear cameras that appear to be integrated into the cover display for a cleaner look.

Another significant design change is the addition of IPX8 water resistance which means the phone can survive use in wet conditions without worrying about damage. Samsung also claims that the new foldable phones feature its strongest frame yet which it calls Armor Aluminum and is 10% stronger than the previous generation. Last but not least is the addition of stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.

Galaxy Z Flip3 Specs

The Galaxy Z Flip3 has a 6.7-inch main screen and a 1.9-inch cover screen. The inner screen has a 120Hz refresh rate, is 29% brighter, and there is Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for 4x better protection against scratches.

There is a Snapdragon 888 processor powering the phone along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. The two rear cameras are a 12MP primary camera and a 12MP ultrawide angle camera and they are both protected by the new Gorilla Glass DX for camera lenses. The camera inside the centered punch hole of the inner display is a 10MP sensor. When taking selfies with the rear cameras, the Galaxy Z Flip3 will automatically switch to the ultrawide angle camera when it detects more people in the shot.

Samsung is sticking to a side-mounted fingerprint scanner again this year. The battery capacity also remains unchanged at 3300mAh and charges pretty slowly at 15W. The phone ships with One UI 3.1 for Z series based on Android 11 and will get three OS upgrades.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is priced at $999.99 for the 128GB version and $1099.99 for the 256GB version. The phone is available in Cream, Green, Lavender, and Black. Samsung is also offering the phone in Gray, Pink, and White as exclusives for those who pre-order from Samsumg.com. There is also a Thom Browne special edition.

The phone will be available for purchase starting August 27. Those who pre-order will receive it a week early in select markets.

The latest leak arrives from known tipster @evleaks and reveals the pricing for both foldable smartphones. As per the tweet from Evan, the Galaxy Z Flip3 pricing starts from 1,099 Euros (roughly 1,306 US Dollars) while its higher end storage variant will apparently cost 1,149 Euros (roughly 1,366 US Dollars). On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold3 from the South Korean tech giant will arrive with a starting price of 1,899 Euros (roughly 2,258 US Dollars), with its higher end storage variant costing about 1,999 Euros (roughly 2,377 US Dollars).

Notably, this pricing suggests that the Galaxy Z Flip3 is a sizeable 350 Euros cheaper than its predecessor, if the pricing is official. Meanwhile, even the Galaxy Z Fold3’s price tag is around 300 Euros lower than the Galaxy Z Fold2. We can also expect the company to offer various pre order deals along with trade in offers for these new foldable handsets, which might help customers reduce the price even further. There are already a handful of foldable smartphones on the market from various brands. However, none of these models have an IP rating for water and dust resistance. That will change this year with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

The two new Samsung foldable phones will have an IPX8 rating which means that they can survive a continuous immersion in water. However, the X means that it hasn’t been tested for protection against solid objects (dust). The info about their ingress protection was revealed by Max Weinbach (MaxWinebach) on Twitter.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will be announced at the next Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for August 11. The former will have a 6.5-inch cover display, a 7.5-inch internal display, Snapdragon 888 processor, an in-display camera on the inside, and triple rear cameras on the back. It will also have a 4500mAh battery and support for wired, wireless, and reverse wireless charging. It has also been confirmed that it will support stylus input.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3/ Z Flip2 (Tentative) are supposedly a few months away from launch. However, the leaks and reports regarding them haven’t shunned away. Yesterday, GalaxClub.nl reported that the new Galaxy Z Flip will come in about eight color variants. Today, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 concept design renders have been shared on the Korean forum meeco.kr.

The renders shared by a user on the forum show the concept renders of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 in multiple colors. To recall, the colors mentioned in the earlier report include Purple, Green, Black, Gray, White, Dark Blue, Pink, and Beige(Sandy fawn color). Out of this, we already saw an earlier concept render in purple color.

The latest render, albeit having few differences in the secondary cover display area, has the same camera layout as the Galaxy S21. Also, the new renders appear only in Gray, Black, Green, Purple color options.

Speaking of the cover display, the Galaxy Z Flip3 is said to have a bigger foldable and cover display(rumored to be 1.81-inches). In case you don’t know, the earlier version had a 1.1-inch screen. Anyway, if reports are true, this one will get an LTPO AMOLED internal display.

Ther renders show curvy edges on the frames which, if recent reports are anything to go by, may get an upgrade in the form of ‘Armor Frame’ i.e., carbon and titanium materials to add extra strength.

Some of the other expected features of the Galaxy Z Flip3 include IP rating, in-display fingerprint sensor, Snapdragon 888 chipset, improved cameras, 3,200mAh battery, and more.

Considering the launch is a bit far away, we will have to wait for a while to get concrete details regarding the 2021 clamshell foldable phone from Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3(Tentative) are reportedly launching in July as per the latest leak. Now, a report by Sammobile has some exclusive info on the devices.

The report says that the next Foldable device(probably Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3) will carry the model number SM-F926 and the next clamshell device(probably Samsung GalaxyZ Flip3) SM-F711. Both the device will debut with Android 11 and One UI 3.5 on top. If the report is true, Samsung should have started development on the UI by now.

Further, the Foldable will get at least 256GB as the storage option whereas the Z Flip3 will get lower 128/256GB versions. If you recall, the Galaxy Z Fold2 debuted with the same storage variant and so did the last Clamshell device, the Galaxy Z Flip 5G.

Anyway, regarding the rumored “Z Flip Lite”, the report says that as of now, there is no existence on the device. However, analysts like DSCC Ross Young have said in the past that Samsung will bring a ‘Lite’ version of the Galaxy Z Flip in 2021. Either way, let’s wait for more leaks.

The Galaxy Z Fold3 is expected to be the first foldable phone to come with S-Pen support. Further, it is also rumored to sport an under-display camera to offer users with full-screen experience. Expected specs include a 7.55-inch main display, 6.21-inch cover display whereas the Z Flip3 is said to get a 6.70-inch main 120Hz LTPO and a 1.81-inch cover display.

Regarding the launch, Samsung usually debuts the intermediate version with the Galaxy Note series in H2 of a year, and with Galaxy Note 21’s existence still not outrightly confirmed, we will have to wait for a bit to know the exact timeline.

This clamshell foldable smartphone is so far rumored to be called Galaxy Z Flip3 and not Z Flip2. Now, a Twitter user has posted alleged specs and price of the device.

According to the user(@TheGalox_), Galaxy Z Flip3 will cost about $1,499. If this report is true, then the 3rd gen Flip will cost only $50 more than its predecessor. Previously, the Galaxy Z Flip 5G debuted for a price tag of $1,449.

Apart from this, he also talks about a few details of the upcoming foldable. He says that the device will have a Glass display(i.e., UTG), with a 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED display with thinner bezels. To this, famous Ross Young(@DSCCRoss) replies that the display will be a LTPO and measure 6.70-inches which we already know.

Further, he mentions the processor of the smartphone as Snapdragon 888 SoC which suggests that Samsung might launch before the H1 of 2021. Usually, Qualcomm updates its flagship SoC with a ‘+’ at the beginning of the second half of the year.

And companies rush to include it in their flagships. For instance, we saw the Z Flip 5G boast the new Snapdragon 865+ in July 2020.

However, the Galaxy Z Flip3, unlike he says, is rumored to come with a 1.8-inch cover display which is actually higher than 1.1-inch on Z Flip. It’s worth noting that an earlier leak said Z Flip3 will also have a 4G model with affordable pricing. That said, he also mentions things like smaller punch-hole, New Hinge, Better Water-resistance(could be longer submerge times with IP68).

Recently, we saw a concept render of the Z Flip3 which was according to a leak that said it will have a Camera layout like Galaxy S21. First uploaded on a Korean forum and spotted by @FrontTron, the concept render shows the Galaxy Z Flip3 in Purple color with Golden borders. Also, just like LetsGoDigital points out, its camera layout reminds us of Galaxy S21. The latter is likely the upcoming Galaxy-S flagship of 2021 from Samsung.

Further, LetsGoDigital has taken this image and imagined its unfolded position. They have used one of the leaked wallpapers of the Galaxy S21. Talking about the render itself, it shows a triple-camera setup which, if true, will replace the horizontal dual-camera setup on the predecessor.

However, don’t expect them to pack a similar setup like the Galaxy S21 as Samsung is very clear about the distinction of its devices this time. Moving on, the cover display seems to be a bit bigger. Earlier we got to know that the Z Flip 3 is probably coming with a 1.81-inch secondary display which is bigger than the 1.1-inch on Z Flip.

Regarding the primary bending display, we might see a 6.70-inch AMOLED display on Z Flip3. This will be a 0.03-inch more than Flip and have a centered punch-hole for the selfie shooter. Other expected specs is an 120Hz LTPO screen, a mid-range SoC, faster storage, and charging support. It is expected to launch sometime in Q1 2021.

Samsung is introducing new measures in the design of its upcoming phone Galaxy Z Flip model from 2021. The measures are a clear departure from the current scenario of successor models ranking higher than the base models, and may be aimed at stabilizing the brand in the midst of an unfavourable and debilitating global business environment in 2020. The lineup of smartphones slated for release in 2021 begins with the Galaxy S21 slated for launch in January 2021, and the Galaxy Z Fold3 in mid 2020. The Z Fold3 will be the South Korean company’s flagship in H2, 2020.

A recent report says Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip, which would be a 5G compliant smartphone, may be equipped with a mid-range chipset that could significantly lead to a lower price tag, for the flagship device. and make it its most affordable foldable to date.

The report which emanated from Samsung’s Galaxy Club, highlights the proposed model number of the next Galaxy Z Flip model as SM-F720F. An explanation of the notation is necessary. While the “F” signifies that the specified model is an international variant, the absence of a “B” indicates that this new model will not have 5G capability. This implies that the Z Flip3 will be positioned lower than its base models and predecessors, including the Z Flip which all used the Snapdragon 800 range of chipsets.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip was priced at $1,449 when it was released, and the Z Fold2 sells from $1,999. It is yet to be seen the level of price change that will go with the choice of the new chipset and how much lower the Z Flip3 will be priced.

Still, even if Samsung wanted to make “mid-range foldables” a thing, we can’t imagine prices falling to three digits in the current market.
