<p>A fresh round of accessory leaks from case maker Thinborne may have given us an early look at <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>&#8216;s next foldables, including the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-741124" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Firefly-1.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The case for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/06/04/galaxy-z-flip-8-might-use-snapdragon-in-some-regions-while-others-get-exynos/">Galaxy Z Flip 8</a> looks fairly unsurprising. Based on the leaked renders, Samsung doesn&#8217;t appear to be making any major changes to the overall design.</p>

<p>The Fold lineup is where things start to get more interesting.</p>

<p>We have been seeing <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/26/galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-leak-reveals-a-wider-form-factor-for-competing-with-iphone-fold/">renders</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/05/29/galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-dummy-appears-in-hands-on-video-revealing-design/">dummy units</a> of the wider Fold model for some time now, but the leaked cases add another piece of evidence pointing in the same direction.</p>

<p>The fact that accessory makers are already producing cases based on these dimensions also lends some credibility to the rumors. Case manufacturers typically work from supply chain information and early device measurements, which suggests the wider aspect ratio and revised camera layout we&#8217;ve been seeing in leaks may be reasonably close to the final product.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--1024x768.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-741125" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--696x522.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--1068x801.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--560x420.jpg 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_--265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HKCLbQxbQAA6O_-.jpg 1706w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Samsung&#8217;s tall and narrow Fold design has its fans, but several competing foldables have already moved toward wider displays, and the response has generally been positive.</p>

<p>The wider form factor may also give Samsung more room to differentiate an &#8220;Ultra&#8221; model without completely reworking the formula.</p>

<p>According to current rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra could be slightly <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/06/03/galaxy-z-fold-8-ultra-specs-tipped-packs-larger-battery-weighs-the-same-gets-even-slimmer/">slimmer</a> than the Fold 7 while packing a larger 5,000mAh battery, a notable jump from the 4,400mAh capacity Samsung has used for several generations.</p>

<p>The Fold 8 Ultra case image doesn&#8217;t reveal much on its own, but it does support the idea that Samsung is focusing on refinement rather than a dramatic redesign.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="468" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Ultra-Carbon-Case-trademark-1024x468-1.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-741122" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Ultra-Carbon-Case-trademark-1024x468-1.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Ultra-Carbon-Case-trademark-1024x468-1-300x137.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Ultra-Carbon-Case-trademark-1024x468-1-768x351.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Ultra-Carbon-Case-trademark-1024x468-1-696x318.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Ultra-Carbon-Case-trademark-1024x468-1-919x420.webp 919w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>One detail that stood out, however, is the mention of Samsung&#8217;s Carbon Standing Case. It has a built-in stand makes a lot of sense on a large foldable, particularly for watching videos, video calls, or using the device at a desk.</p>

<p>Taken together, the leaks suggest Samsung is continuing to expand its foldable strategy rather than simply releasing yearly upgrades.</p>

<p>Samsung is expected to unveil the new foldables during its next Galaxy Unpacked event next month.</p>

<p>Fresh leaks have offered a closer look at <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>&#8216;s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup, including the wider model. The inner panel of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) is said to measure around 7.8 inches and use a 4:3 aspect ratio, while the outer display comes in at 5.4 inches. That wider layout could end up being one of the device&#8217;s most meaningful upgrades.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HJycRpzaAAAMxoc-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-740779" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HJycRpzaAAAMxoc-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HJycRpzaAAAMxoc-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HJycRpzaAAAMxoc-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HJycRpzaAAAMxoc-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HJycRpzaAAAMxoc-2048x1152.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HJycRpzaAAAMxoc-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HJycRpzaAAAMxoc-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HJycRpzaAAAMxoc-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/HJycRpzaAAAMxoc-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Foldables have long offered large screens, but many still feel slightly awkward for tablet-style tasks. A more balanced aspect ratio should make split-screen multitasking, reading, and video playback feel more natural.</p>

<p>Samsung also appears to be making progress on weight. According to leaked specifications, the Z Fold 8 (Wide) could weigh just 201g, down from 215g on the Galaxy Z Fold 7. That&#8217;s a notable drop for a foldable, especially since the device is also rumored to pack a larger 4,800mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging.</p>

<p>Camera hardware may be a little more restrained. Current reports point to a dual-camera setup led by a 50MP main sensor, paired with an ultra-wide camera. Ice Universe also claims the device will support a native 24MP shooting mode. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="665" height="302" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Screenshot-2026-06-02-221738.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-740781" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Screenshot-2026-06-02-221738.jpg 665w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Screenshot-2026-06-02-221738-300x136.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 665px) 100vw, 665px" /></figure></div>

<p>The move away from the Fold 7&#8217;s 200MP main sensor suggests Samsung could be maintaining a clearer separation between the wider Fold model and the rumored Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.</p>

<p>Another area getting attention is the display crease. Samsung has reportedly made significant improvements here, with the crease reportedly matching or even outperforming what is currently seen on Oppo&#8217;s latest foldables. While that&#8217;s something that will need to be verified once the phone is official, it would address one of the most common complaints about foldable devices.</p>

<p>Under the hood, expectations include Qualcomm&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/20/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5-phones-list/">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5</a> chip, up to 16GB of RAM, and storage configurations reaching 1TB.</p>

<p>Samsung is widely expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22. As always, leaked specifications should be treated with some caution until the company makes everything official. Still, the direction seems fairly clear. Rather than chasing headline-grabbing changes, Samsung appears to be focusing on a handful of practical upgrades that could make the Fold easier to live with every day.</p>

<p>Someone may have already been carrying one of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>&#8216;s next foldables around in public. A pair of blurry photos shared on a Korean online forum appear to show what could be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 months before its expected launch.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="850" height="478" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/1780156802.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-740532" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/1780156802.jpg 850w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/1780156802-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/1780156802-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/1780156802-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/1780156802-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /></figure></div>

<p>The photos are far from ideal. One was taken from a distance inside a restaurant, while the other shows the device in someone&#8217;s hand. Like most pre-release hardware, it is wrapped in a thick protective case designed to hide the final design.</p>

<p>Even so, a few details seem difficult to miss.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="850" height="478" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/1780156802-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-740531" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/1780156802-1.jpg 850w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/1780156802-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/1780156802-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/1780156802-1-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/1780156802-1-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /></figure></div>

<p>For starters, the phone looks wider than previous Galaxy Z Fold models. It is hard to be precise because of the case, but the proportions look fairly close to previously leaked <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/26/galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-leak-reveals-a-wider-form-factor-for-competing-with-iphone-fold/">renders</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/05/29/galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-dummy-appears-in-hands-on-video-revealing-design/">dummy units</a> that suggested Samsung was finally listening to users who wanted a wider cover display.</p>

<p>The rear camera setup is interesting as well. Only two camera cutouts are visible, which lines up with recent reports claiming Samsung is preparing a more affordable foldable alongside a premium Ultra model. If that information is accurate, the cheaper version could skip the dedicated telephoto camera in favor of a simpler dual-camera system. That would be a noticeable change for Samsung&#8217;s Fold lineup.</p>

<p>The timing makes the sighting difficult to ignore. Samsung is widely expected to unveil its next generation of foldables in July, which means hardware is already moving through testing and certification stages. Real-world appearances tend to become more common around this point in the cycle.</p>

<p>One thing seems increasingly clear: the Galaxy Z Fold 8, previously <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/05/25/no-galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-samsung-reportedly-planning-z-fold-8-and-z-fold-8-ultra/">referred to as the Z Fold 8 Wide</a>, may look quite different from the narrow Fold models Samsung fans have become used to over the years.</p>

According to a new leak from Ice Universe, the company could be dropping the confusing “Wide” and “Large” branding that had been floating around recent rumors for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="737" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/006bWoNYly1idf6oiobvij31zw1fsb29-1024x737.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-739610" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/006bWoNYly1idf6oiobvij31zw1fsb29-1024x737.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/006bWoNYly1idf6oiobvij31zw1fsb29-300x216.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/006bWoNYly1idf6oiobvij31zw1fsb29-768x553.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/006bWoNYly1idf6oiobvij31zw1fsb29-1536x1106.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/006bWoNYly1idf6oiobvij31zw1fsb29-696x501.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/006bWoNYly1idf6oiobvij31zw1fsb29-1068x769.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/006bWoNYly1idf6oiobvij31zw1fsb29-1920x1382.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/006bWoNYly1idf6oiobvij31zw1fsb29-583x420.jpg 583w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/006bWoNYly1idf6oiobvij31zw1fsb29.jpg 2000w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Instead, the device previously rumored as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide may launch simply as the Galaxy Z Fold 8, while the higher-end model could reportedly debut as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.</p>

<p>If accurate, the change would make Samsung’s foldable lineup much easier to understand. Names like “Z Fold 8 Wide” and “Galaxy Z Wide Fold” have appeared in leaks over the past few months, but many people felt the branding sounded awkward and unnecessarily complicated.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-release-date-should-you-wait-for-Apples-foldable-iPhone-or-the-Pixel-11-Pro-Fold-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-739614" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-release-date-should-you-wait-for-Apples-foldable-iPhone-or-the-Pixel-11-Pro-Fold-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-release-date-should-you-wait-for-Apples-foldable-iPhone-or-the-Pixel-11-Pro-Fold-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-release-date-should-you-wait-for-Apples-foldable-iPhone-or-the-Pixel-11-Pro-Fold-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-release-date-should-you-wait-for-Apples-foldable-iPhone-or-the-Pixel-11-Pro-Fold-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-release-date-should-you-wait-for-Apples-foldable-iPhone-or-the-Pixel-11-Pro-Fold-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-release-date-should-you-wait-for-Apples-foldable-iPhone-or-the-Pixel-11-Pro-Fold-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-release-date-should-you-wait-for-Apples-foldable-iPhone-or-the-Pixel-11-Pro-Fold-1.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra</figcaption></figure>

<p>The rumored Ultra model is expected to sit above the standard Fold 8 with a few notable hardware upgrades. Current reports suggest it could feature a larger <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/17/samsung-may-finally-boost-galaxy-z-fold-battery-beyond-4400mah-in-2026/">5000mAh battery</a> along with a more advanced triple-camera setup that includes a dedicated telephoto lens. Meanwhile, the regular Fold 8 is tipped to use a slightly smaller 4800mAh battery and a simpler dual-camera system.</p>

<p>Both devices are still expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and refined foldable displays, although the standard model may adopt a more compact aspect ratio compared to the Ultra variant.</p>

<p>Samsung is widely expected to unveil the new foldables during its usual summer Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2026. Recent rumors have pointed toward a possible launch event in London, although Samsung has not officially confirmed any details yet.</p>

<p>The move toward clearer branding also makes sense as competition in the foldable segment continues to grow. Chinese brands have been aggressively improving their foldables over the past year, and Apple’s long-rumored entry into the category continues to loom in the background.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a> could end up increasing prices for some versions of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 as production costs continue rising across the industry.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-1024x576.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-739433" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-1024x576.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-768x432.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-1536x864.webp 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-1068x601.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black-747x420.webp 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-Black.webp 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>According to a recent report from Korean outlet Newspim, Samsung has been dealing with higher chipset and memory prices ahead of the next foldable launch cycle. The company is reportedly <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/05/22/samsung-plans-to-use-boe-panel-on-galaxy-s27-to-save-5-per-unit/">trying to keep the starting prices unchanged</a>, but the higher storage variants may not be so lucky this time.</p>

<p>Right now, the expectation is that the base storage versions could launch at roughly the same prices as the current generation. The 512GB and 1TB models, however, are expected to cost more. Samsung has already been leaning in this direction recently, where the more expensive storage tiers quietly absorb most of the price increases.</p>

<p>The timing is not exactly surprising. DRAM prices have been climbing again, and AI demand has been putting extra pressure on the semiconductor market in general.</p>

<p>As for the actual hardware, early leaks suggest the Fold 8 series may focus more on refinement than major changes. Reports so far point to fairly iterative upgrades, and some rumors even claim the crease reduction may not improve dramatically compared to the previous generation.</p>

<p>There are also whispers that S Pen support and Samsung’s newer Privacy Display tech could remain absent, possibly as part of broader cost-control decisions.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-1024x576.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-739434" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-1024x576.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-768x432.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-1068x601.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all-747x420.webp 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/New-Galaxy-Z-Flip-8-case-leak-reveals-that-its-biggest-upgrade-may-not-happen-after-all.webp 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Samsung is still expected to unveil the new foldables sometime around late July, possibly during an Unpacked event in London. If the current pricing estimates are accurate, the base Fold 8 could still remain around the familiar $1999 range, while the higher-end versions may move even deeper into ultra-premium territory. The Flip 8 lineup could also see smaller increases depending on storage configuration.</p>

<p>Samsung still dominates the foldable market globally, but the competition is getting stronger every year, especially from Chinese brands pushing thinner designs and larger batteries. At the same time, Apple’s foldable ambitions continue to hang over the industry, even if the company still has not launched anything yet.</p>

<p>For Samsung, the challenge now is probably less about proving foldables work and more about convincing buyers that the next upgrades are worth paying even more for.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>’s next foldables are starting to leak in more detail, and this year the company seems to be focusing less on redesigns and more on fixing the things people have been complaining about for years. According to a new report from TechManiacs, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup could bring larger batteries, slimmer bodies, and even a new wider version of the Fold.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-731955" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1.jpg 1154w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The regular Galaxy Z Fold 8 is reportedly getting thinner again, measuring around 4.1mm when unfolded, down slightly from the Z Fold 7’s 4.2mm thickness. Weight is also said to drop to roughly 210 grams, compared to 215 grams on the current model. Together, these changes should make the phone feel a bit less bulky in everyday use. Samsung foldables have improved steadily in this area, but Chinese brands like Honor and Huawei have been moving much faster lately, so the pressure is clearly there.</p>

<p>Battery life may finally see a meaningful upgrade too. The Fold 8 was previously <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/23/galaxy-z-fold-8-pairs-faster-charging-with-long-awaited-battery-upgrade-confirms-3c-listing/">tipped</a> to jump from the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/10/no-bigger-battery-galaxy-z-fold-7-samsung-explains/">Fold 7’s 4,400mAh battery</a> to a larger 5,000mAh unit, along with faster 45W charging. That may not sound huge on paper, but Fold users have been asking for better battery endurance for a long time.</p>

<p>The more interesting leak, though, is the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/27/galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-vs-huawei-pura-x-max-dimensions-compared/">Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide</a>. Samsung reportedly is testing a wider foldable with a 7.6-inch inner display using a near-square 4:3-style aspect ratio. In other words, something that feels more like a small tablet when opened instead of the tall, narrow Fold design Samsung has used for years.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-z-fold-wide-cad-render-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-738841" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-z-fold-wide-cad-render-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-z-fold-wide-cad-render-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-z-fold-wide-cad-render-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-z-fold-wide-cad-render-1-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-z-fold-wide-cad-render-1-2048x1152.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-z-fold-wide-cad-render-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-z-fold-wide-cad-render-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-z-fold-wide-cad-render-1-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-z-fold-wide-cad-render-1-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Samsung may drop the telephoto camera entirely and stick to a simpler dual 50MP setup. The saved space seemingly goes toward the battery, which is tipped to reach 4,800mAh — around 400mAh larger than the 8.0-inch Galaxy Z Fold 7.</p>

<p>If these reports turn out to be accurate, the Fold 8 series may end up being less about flashy new features and more about finally catching up in areas users actually care about.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>’s next foldables are already starting to take shape, and this time we are getting more than just renders. A fresh set of aluminum dummy units has surfaced, giving a clearer idea of how the upcoming Galaxy foldables might look and feel in real life.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="574" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-1024x574.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-736457" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-1024x574.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-768x430.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-696x390.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-1068x598.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc-749x420.jpg 749w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfPasAAOryc.jpg 1383w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The images were shared by Sonny Dickson on X, showing dummy units of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, and Galaxy Z Flip 8. Since these are physical models rather than CAD renders, they offer a slightly better sense of proportions, especially when comparing the devices side by side.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="590" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-1024x590.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-736458" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-1024x590.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-300x173.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-768x442.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-696x401.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-1068x615.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8-729x420.jpg 729w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HG4LIfhaUAA-xv8.jpg 1240w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The regular <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/24/galaxy-z-fold-8-specs-summarized-combination-of-upgrades-and-refinement-fans-would-appreciate/">Galaxy Z Fold 8</a> does not look like a major departure. It sticks to the tall and narrow form factor Samsung has been using from the beginning. The Flip 8 follows a similar story. It keeps the compact clamshell design, focusing on portability rather than screen size. There are no major surprises here based on the dummy.</p>

<p>The interesting device is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. This appears to be Samsung’s answer to Huawei&#8217;s Pura X lineup. Compared to the standard Fold 8, it is shorter and noticeably wider when folded, which should make the cover screen more comfortable to use. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/27/galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-vs-huawei-pura-x-max-dimensions-compared/">exact dimensions</a> have also been revealed.</p>

<p>When unfolded, the difference becomes more obvious. The wider aspect ratio gives it a layout that feels closer to a small tablet, which should be better for media, reading, and general browsing. It is a different approach from Samsung’s usual design, and one that some enthusiasts have been asking for. That said, how apps scale to the wider aspect ratio will likely make or break the experience.</p>

<p>As for the camera system, the dummy showcases a pill-shaped layout, similar to the Fold 8, but with two cutouts instead of three. As per recent leaks, these could be a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide. The lack of a telephoto lens is likely the trade-off for a first-generation wide foldable measuring just 4.3mm when unfolded.</p>

<p>Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series and Flip 8 at its next Unpacked event in July.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>’s next foldables seem to be moving closer to launch, with a new round of certifications in India giving a clearer picture of what’s coming. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/24/galaxy-z-fold-8-specs-summarized-combination-of-upgrades-and-refinement-fans-would-appreciate/">Galaxy Z Fold 8</a>, Z Flip 8, and what appears to be a wider Fold variant have all shown up, along with a new pair of earbuds.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-render-2.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-733342" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-render-2.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-render-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-render-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-render-2-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-8-Wide-render-2-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>Battery units for these devices recently cleared India’s BIS certification, which usually happens fairly late in the process. The listings include multiple battery model numbers tied to the Fold 8, Flip 8, and the so-called <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/26/galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-leak-reveals-a-wider-form-factor-for-competing-with-iphone-fold/">Galaxy Z Wide Fold</a>, though Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed that name yet. The new audio product is expected to be the recently leaked Galaxy Buds Able (model SM-U600).</p>

<p>The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the wider Fold variant are both <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/17/samsung-may-finally-boost-galaxy-z-fold-battery-beyond-4400mah-in-2026/">expected to move up to 5,000mAh</a> batteries (advertised capacity). That would be a noticeable jump from the 4,400mAh Samsung has stuck with for a while. The Z Flip 8, on the other hand, is rumored to stay closer to its current setup, with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/13/galaxy-z-flip-8-battery-leak-may-disappoint-fans/">battery around 4,300mAh</a>.</p>

<p>Charging could see a small upgrade too. The Fold 8 and Wide Fold are tipped to support <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/23/galaxy-z-fold-8-pairs-faster-charging-with-long-awaited-battery-upgrade-confirms-3c-listing/">45W wired charging</a>, while the Flip 8 may continue with 25W, which is more or less what we’ve seen before.</p>

<p>The Wide Fold is probably the most interesting part of this. Leaks suggest it could use a wider 4:3 aspect ratio when unfolded, which might make it feel a bit more like a tablet than the usual Fold design. It’s still early, but it does sound like Samsung is experimenting a little this time.</p>

<p>There were also a few extra battery model numbers listed that don’t clearly match any of the main devices. These could be test units or alternate versions, though it’s hard to say for sure.</p>

<p>With <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/25/first-galaxy-z-fold-8-renders-surface-a-fairly-iterative-update-by-samsungs-standards/">CAD renders</a> already out and certifications now in place, the launch timeline seems to be lining up. Samsung is expected to unveil the new foldables sometime in July 2026. The appearance of the new earbuds in these listings adds to that. Details are still limited, but if they’re showing up here, there’s a good chance they’ll be announced around the same time.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>’s next book-style foldable has started showing up in leaks, and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/24/galaxy-z-fold-8-specs-summarized-combination-of-upgrades-and-refinement-fans-would-appreciate/">Galaxy Z Fold 8</a> doesn’t seem to be chasing a big redesign this year. Fresh CAD renders give a fairly detailed look at the device ahead of its expected July 2026 launch.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-731955" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Galaxy-Z-Fold8-5K3-1154x779-1.jpg 1154w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The renders, shared by OnLeaks in collaboration with Android Headlines, show a design that’s very close to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-7/">Galaxy Z Fold 7</a>. You still get the flat edges, the centered hole-punch on the cover display, and a vertically aligned triple-camera setup at the back. The camera module itself remains quite prominent, with a noticeable raised bump.</p>

<p>In terms of size, the Fold 8 is said to measure 158.4 x 143.2 x 4.5 mm when unfolded and 158.4 x 72.8 x 9 mm when folded. That’s slightly thicker than the official numbers for the Fold 7, though in practice, the difference might not be all that noticeable. Real-world measurements of the older model often end up in a similar range anyway, so this could just be a minor adjustment rather than a step back.</p>

<p>The bigger changes seem to be on the inside. Samsung is reportedly working on a new dual-layer ultra-thin glass setup for the main display, along with a revised support structure. The idea is to improve durability and help reduce how noticeable the crease becomes with use. Display sizes are expected to stay roughly the same, around 8 inches for the inner screen and 6.5 inches for the cover.</p>

<p>There are also signs of a battery upgrade. The Fold 8 could move up to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/17/samsung-may-finally-boost-galaxy-z-fold-battery-beyond-4400mah-in-2026/">a 5,000mAh unit</a>, paired with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/23/galaxy-z-fold-8-pairs-faster-charging-with-long-awaited-battery-upgrade-confirms-3c-listing/">45W charging</a>. That alone would be a welcome change, considering battery life has been one of the weaker points on earlier Fold models.</p>

<p>All of this points to a fairly iterative update by Samsung’s standards. The design isn’t changing much, but the company seems to be focusing on the areas that matter in daily use. Not the most exciting upgrade on paper, maybe, but potentially a more practical one.</p>

<p>New entries on China’s 3C certification platform have revealed two book-style models, SM-F9760 (likely the Galaxy Z Fold 8) and SM-F9710 (rumored as the Galaxy Z Wide Fold). Both are listed with 45W wired charging support (15V/3A). That might not sound like a big deal at first, but <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a> has kept its Fold lineup at 25W since 2020, so this is actually a meaningful change.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="933" height="486" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-23-194623.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-731685" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-23-194623.png 933w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-23-194623-300x156.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-23-194623-768x400.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-23-194623-696x363.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-23-194623-806x420.png 806w" sizes="(max-width: 933px) 100vw, 933px" /></figure></div>

<p>It also lines up with earlier reports suggesting internal design adjustments, likely to handle heat and higher power delivery a bit better. Foldables already have tight internal layouts, so upgrades like this usually mean something has shifted inside.</p>

<p>There’s also talk of a battery upgrade. The Fold 8 could finally move past the familiar 4,400mAh limit, with some leaks <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/17/samsung-may-finally-boost-galaxy-z-fold-battery-beyond-4400mah-in-2026/">pointing to 5,000mAh</a>. If that happens, combined with faster charging, it should make day-to-day use a bit more forgiving.</p>

<p>The Galaxy Z Flip 8 (SM-F7760), though, seems to be sticking to the same formula. Its certification still shows 25W charging, and battery capacity is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/13/galaxy-z-flip-8-battery-leak-may-disappoint-fans/">expected</a> to remain largely unchanged. Not surprising, but it does make the Flip feel a bit static next to the Fold updates.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="860" height="231" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-23-195739.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-731688" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-23-195739.png 860w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-23-195739-300x81.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-23-195739-768x206.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-23-195739-696x187.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px" /><figcaption>Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Wide Fold 3C</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Then there’s the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/15/samsungs-wide-foldable-to-feature-7-6-inch-main-display-4800mah-battery/">Galaxy Z Wide Fold</a>, which might end up being the more interesting addition. Early details suggest a wider outer display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, unfolding into a more square inner screen. There’s also some talk of S Pen support returning here, which would be notable after being dropped in the thinner Fold 7.</p>

<p>Nothing here is officially confirmed yet, and 3C listings only tell part of the story. Still, this round of upgrades feels a bit more practical than flashy, the kind you notice after using the phone for a few days, not just on launch day.</p>

That might finally be about to change.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-19-074638-1024x576.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-731103" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-19-074638-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-19-074638-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-19-074638-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-19-074638-696x391.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-19-074638-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-19-074638-747x420.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-19-074638.png 1348w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>A new report from GalaxyClub suggests the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/28/galaxy-z-fold-8-could-completely-fix-the-crease-with-a-laser-treated-back-plate-pack-5000mah-battery-and-reintroduce-s-pen/">Galaxy Z Fold 8</a> could see a noticeable bump. The device is said to use a dual-battery setup with a combined rated capacity of around 4,854mAh, split between two cells (2,369mAh and 2,485mAh). As usual, Samsung will likely market that as a 5,000mAh battery, which would be roughly a 13% increase over previous models.</p>

<p>The Fold 8 is expected to launch in July, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Interestingly, the Flip <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/13/galaxy-z-flip-8-battery-leak-may-disappoint-fans/">doesn’t seem</a> to be getting the same treatment this time, with leaks suggesting its battery will remain unchanged. So the focus, at least for now, is clearly on the Fold.</p>

<p>Even then, Samsung still isn’t leading the pack. Some competitors are already pushing <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/01/honor-magic-v6-launched/">6000mAh+ capacities</a>. So while this is progress, it’s more of a catch-up move than a leap ahead.</p>

<p>There’s also a small twist in the leak. Another battery, rated at 2,393mAh, has reportedly been spotted in testing. It’s not confirmed what it belongs to, but speculation points to a possible “<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/15/samsungs-wide-foldable-to-feature-7-6-inch-main-display-4800mah-battery/">Galaxy Wide Fold</a>”, a different take on the Fold design that could launch around the same time.</p>

<p>If that turns out to be real, it might come with a combined capacity somewhere near 4,900mAh. Slightly below the Fold 8, but still better than what Samsung has been offering so far. The idea seems to be a wider form factor, possibly making the device feel more tablet-like when opened up.</p>

<p>All of this points to Samsung slowly responding to pressure in the foldables space. It’s not a dramatic overhaul, but the battery upgrade alone could make the Fold 8 a bit more practical for everyday use.</p>

<p>There’s still a lot we don’t know, but with the expected July 2026 launch window getting closer, more details should start to surface soon.</p>

<p>While the One UI 8.5 release is yet to happen, Samsung is already laying the groundwork for its next major release, One UI 9. A few Galaxy devices have been spotted on Samsung&#8217;s test servers with new build versions pointing to One UI 9.</p>

<p>The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 were the first phones to show up on the server with One UI 9 test builds (<a href="https://x.com/tarunvats33/status/2021970058130731182" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">1</a>, <a href="https://x.com/tarunvats33/status/2021963546654069097" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">2</a>). Both foldables will launch around July 2026 with One UI 9 right from the box.</p>

<p>Perhaps the most intriguing is the appearance of a mysterious third device with the modem number <strong>SM-F971U</strong> running the build version <strong>F971USQU0AZB1</strong>. This could mean Samsung might also launch a third foldable phone alongside the Fold 8 and Flip 8 in the second half. We don&#8217;t know what it would be called, but rumors say this could be the Galaxy Wide Fold.</p>

<p>Alongside these three upcoming foldable phones, the One UI 9 test build has also been <a href="https://x.com/tarunvats33/status/2022154102961320163" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">spotted</a> for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This is kind of surprising, as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 hasn&#8217;t even received the One UI 8.5 update.</p>

<p>So, here&#8217;s a list of Samsung devices that are currently under One UI 9 testing:</p>

<ul><li>Galaxy Z Fold 8</li><li>Galaxy Z Flip 8</li><li>Galaxy Wide Fold (name unconfirmed)</li><li>Galaxy Z Fold 7</li></ul>

<p>The list is currently small, as Samsung began testing One UI 9 just recently. It will grow in the coming days, especially after the One UI 8.5 release, when more of the company&#8217;s focus will shift towards One UI 9.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s important to highlight that One UI 9 testing is happening internally, so you can&#8217;t download and test the firmware on your Galaxy device. The presence of such test builds on the server indicates that the company is testing the firmware behind closed doors to ensure a stable, smooth rollout in the future.</p>

<p>While Samsung has begun development of One UI 9 for its Galaxy devices, its primary focus will be the Galaxy S26 series, which is launching later this month with One UI 8.5. In late April, we might see One UI 8.5 rolling out to older Galaxy devices. You can check the list of eligible devices <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/02/02/when-will-your-samsung-galaxy-receive-one-ui-8-5-update/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here</a>.</p>

While the company hasn’t officially confirmed dates yet, a recent tweet has offered us a full roadmap of all the big 2026 announcements. So let&#8217;s check it out.</p>

<h2>Early 2026: Samsung&#8217;s Galaxy Unpack 2026</h2>

<p>The first major date in Samsung’s 2026 calendar looks to be 25th February 2026, which is when the Galaxy Unpacked event will take place. This will have the South Korean tech giant unveil its highly anticipated Galaxy S26 lineup, consisting of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/01/19/samsung-galaxy-s26-galaxy-s26-full-specs-revealed-with-flagship-exynos-snapdragon-chips/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S26</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/01/19/samsung-galaxy-s26-galaxy-s26-full-specs-revealed-with-flagship-exynos-snapdragon-chips/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S26+</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/02/04/heres-the-samsung-galaxy-s26-ultra-in-all-four-colors/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S26 Ultra</a>.</p>

<p>While it is unclear if the brand will announce other products during the event, February could likely include the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/01/26/new-galaxy-buds-4-pro-buds-4-near-global-launch-samsungs-premium-tws-get-certified/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro</a> launches as Samsung&#8217;s flagship TWS, along with the new Galaxy Book 6 series that should be powered by the next-gen processors.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="682" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-1024x682.png?x44794" alt="Galaxy S26 Ultra - Cobalt Violet" class="wp-image-725485" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-1024x682.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Galaxy-S26-Ultra-purple.png 1340w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra in Cobalt Violet</figcaption></figure></div>

<h2>Mid 2026: Galaxy Z Series &amp; More</h2>

<p>Samsung’s second big event of 2026 is expected around July. The company is expected to unveil its latest foldable devices, like the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and potentially a Galaxy Z Flip 8 FE model. This would continue its strategy of refreshing both premium and affordable foldables.</p>

<p>Alongside these, Samsung could also roll out updates to its new Galaxy Watch lineup that may include the top end Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Galaxy Watch 9 series. Apart from this, the tip from <em><a href="https://x.com/_TheJasonC/status/2018743996198404409" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jason C.</a></em> on X (formerly Twitter) also points to the Galaxy Tab S12 series debuting in the middle of the year. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt for now.</p>

<p>According to GalaxyClub, Samsung plans to keep the 200MP primary camera introduced with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-7/">Galaxy Z Fold 7</a>. The 10MP selfie cameras on both the cover display and the inner screen are also said to remain unchanged, with no mention of the under-display camera returning.</p>

<h2>The upgrades:</h2>

<p>Where things get interesting is the rear camera setup. The telephoto lens is reportedly sticking with 3x optical zoom, but the sensor could be upgraded from 10MP to 12MP. The report suggests this may be the same sensor Samsung plans to use on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/12/10/galaxy-s26-ultra-fcc-approval-puts-an-end-to-the-chipset-rumors/">Galaxy S26 Ultra</a>. This upgrade is expected to improve clarity in zoomed shots, particularly in low-light conditions.</p>

<p>The ultrawide camera may see an even bigger jump. Samsung is said to be moving from the 12MP ultrawide of the Fold 7 to the 50MP one of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s25-ultra/">S25 Ultra</a>. If accurate, it would significantly narrow the gap between the Fold series and Samsung’s top-of-the-line flagship slab phones.</p>

<p>As with any early leak, details could change. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to launch no earlier than July 2026, and Samsung has plenty of time to revise its plans. Still, GalaxyClub has been reliable with past Samsung hardware details.</p>

<p>For now, the leak suggests Samsung is continuing to treat its foldables less like experiments and more like true flagship camera phones.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>’s foldable lineup is seemingly gearing up for its biggest year yet — not with wild new form factors, but with smart refinements aimed at everyday users. Leaks out of Korea hint that the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip8 and Z Fold8 will be leaner, smarter, and built to push foldables out of the niche corner and into the mainstream.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="672" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-1024x672.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 &amp; Galaxy Z Flip 7" class="wp-image-700088" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-1024x672.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-300x197.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-768x504.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-696x457.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-1068x701.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-640x420.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7-741x486.jpg 741w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-Galaxy-Z-Flip-7.jpg 1430w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7</figcaption></figure>

<p>According to The Bell Korea, Samsung’s 2026 MX (Mobile eXperience) business roadmap sets a goal of 6.7 million combined Flip8 and Fold8 units, about a 10% boost over last year’s sales. The push is led by the Flip8, which is reportedly getting a major hardware revamp. There&#8217;s no mention of a Flip8 FE yet.</p>

<p>The Galaxy Z Flip8 is shaping up to be Samsung’s thinnest clamshell yet. Sources suggest the phone could measure just 9.5 mm when folded, roughly 30% slimmer than the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-7/">Flip7</a>’s 13.7 mm profile. Early leaks suggest the same 6.9-inch inner display, and the slimmer design should make it easier to pocket.</p>

<p>The Galaxy Z Fold8, meanwhile, is expected to stay closer to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-7/">Fold7</a> formula. Expect brighter AMOLED panels and S Pen support refinements, but no major redesign.</p>

<p>With the TriFold expected to arrive as a limited release and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/11/11/samsung-galaxy-s26-series-might-finally-get-an-overdue-charging-update/">Galaxy S26 series</a> on the horizon, the Flip8 and Fold8 carry the task of bringing foldables to more people. If Samsung can deliver a 9.5 mm Flip that feels as sturdy as it looks, it might finally have a clamshell ready for the masses.</p>

<p>As 2026 approaches, Samsung’s message seems to be clear: the next chapter in foldables isn’t about showing off — it’s about shaving down, selling more, and making foldables feel like the future again.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>’s foldable lineup has come a long way, but one thing has stuck around since the very first model — that visible crease down the middle of the screen. Now, a new report suggests the Galaxy Z Fold 8 might finally be the one to smooth things out, both literally and figuratively.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-crease-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-712958" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-crease-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-crease-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-crease-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-crease-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-crease-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-crease-746x420.jpg 746w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-crease.jpg 1244w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>According to Korean outlet Deal Site, Samsung plans to use an ASP laser-drilled metal plate under the main display to eliminate the crease entirely. The component, dotted with microscopic holes to allow bending without stress marks, should keep the screen looking flat while maintaining the device’s signature foldability. The technology was first rumored earlier this year and could debut in mid-2026. Interestingly, Apple is said to be exploring a similar approach for its first foldable iPhone, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/17/apples-iphone-fold-reportedly-delayed-to-2027/">expected</a> in 2027.</p>

<p>The report also mentions a welcome battery upgrade — a 5,000mAh (or slightly larger) cell, up from the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-7/">Z Fold 7</a>’s 4,400mAh. That extra capacity, combined with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 chip, could give the Fold 8 far better endurance, especially when using its large 8-inch inner screen.</p>

<p>Another detail that may please long-time fans is the possible <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/09/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-7-drops-s-pen-support/">return of S Pen support</a>. The stylus was dropped from the Z Fold 7 to keep the body slimmer, but Samsung seems to have found a way to integrate the digitizer without adding noticeable bulk. That would help the Fold 8 regain some productivity edge and keep existing Galaxy Fold users from jumping ship to rival brands.</p>

<p>With Apple’s entry set for 2027, 2026 could be a landmark year for the next generation of folding phones. If things go as planned, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could arrive by mid-2026, with a starting price of around $1,999 — matching or slightly topping the Fold 7.</p>

<p>According to fresh reports from Korean media, the company plans to launch not one but two Galaxy Z Fold models in 2026, including a new “wide-type” version that breaks away from the tall, narrow design of previous Folds.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Foldable-iPhone-2023-Feature-Iridescent-1-1024x768.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-706223" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Foldable-iPhone-2023-Feature-Iridescent-1-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Foldable-iPhone-2023-Feature-Iridescent-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Foldable-iPhone-2023-Feature-Iridescent-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Foldable-iPhone-2023-Feature-Iridescent-1-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Foldable-iPhone-2023-Feature-Iridescent-1-696x522.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Foldable-iPhone-2023-Feature-Iridescent-1-1068x801.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Foldable-iPhone-2023-Feature-Iridescent-1-560x420.jpg 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Foldable-iPhone-2023-Feature-Iridescent-1-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Foldable-iPhone-2023-Feature-Iridescent-1-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Foldable-iPhone-2023-Feature-Iridescent-1.jpg 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The wide model is said to use two 18:9 panels, which unfold into a nearly square 18:18 inner display. That’s a clear contrast to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-7/">Galaxy Z Fold 7</a>’s 18:20 aspect ratio, and it could make tasks like gaming, multitasking, and video consumption more natural. The second model is expected to act as the direct successor to the Fold 7, likely keeping a similar format. Unlike the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/21/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-6-special-edition-launched/">2024 Z Fold Special Edition</a> that was limited to Korea and China, this wider model is reportedly planned for a global release. Samsung is yet to finalize specifications, with the devices lined up for the second half of 2026.</p>

<p>The timing isn’t random — Apple is widely expected to unveil its first foldable iPhone around the same period. Analysts at Omdia forecast foldable shipments could rise from 23.5 million units in 2025 (2.2% of all smartphones) to over 51 million in 2027, with Apple’s entry seen as a catalyst.</p>

<p>Samsung isn’t standing still in the meantime either. Its first tri-fold device, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/08/galaxy-z-trifold-leak-points-to-unusual-cover-display-placement/">Galaxy Z TriFold</a>, is said to be <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/03/samsung-galaxy-z-trifold-october-launch/">on track for late 2025</a> in South Korea and China, giving the company another form factor to test before Apple introduces its rumored foldable iPhone.</p>

<p>If the reports hold, Samsung’s strategy for 2026 would be clear: diversify its Fold series to appeal to both productivity-focused users and those who want a more tablet-like experience, while keeping its lead in the foldable market as rivals close in.</p>

<p>A report from <em><a href="https://www.thelec.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=38448">The Elec</a></em> suggests Samsung may swap the titanium backplate on the Galaxy Z Fold8 for carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), a material it used on earlier models to provide structural support for the inner folding display.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-thickness-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="Galaxy Z Fold 7 thickness" class="wp-image-697077" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-thickness-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-thickness-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-thickness-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-thickness-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-thickness-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-thickness-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Galaxy-Z-Fold-7-thickness.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Galaxy Z Fold 7 (4.2mm while opened)</figcaption></figure>

<p>The culprit? Escalating US-China trade tensions and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/05/24/apple-wont-be-alone-all-us-bound-smartphones-to-face-25-tariff/">rising tariffs</a>, which have pushed up the cost of sourcing titanium — a market largely dominated by China. While titanium helped the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/20/who-should-actually-buy-samsung-galaxy-z-fold-7/">Z Fold7</a> achieve its sleek 8.9mm folded profile, CFRP could mean a slightly thicker, heavier device next year.</p>

<p>This wouldn’t be the first compromise Samsung has made in the name of cost or design. Both the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-special/">Z Fold SE</a> and Z Fold7 <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/09/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-7-drops-s-pen-support/">ditched S Pen support</a> after Samsung removed the digitizer layer to help slim down the phones. But according to leaks, a thinner digitizer might be in the works for the Z Fold8, potentially bringing back S Pen compatibility despite the thicker backplate.</p>

<p>On the upside, there’s talk of a major display improvement. A recent leak hints that Samsung is working on a crease-free panel — a welcome change for foldable fans still bothered by the Z Fold7’s slightly visible crease.</p>

<p>Whether Samsung can tweak CFRP enough to match titanium’s slim profile remains to be seen. But with the Galaxy Z Fold8 expected around July 2026 — and a likely $2,000 price tag — the real question is whether buyers will accept a slightly thicker design that feels like a downgrade.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>’s chip strategy for the Galaxy S26 series, set for early 2026, will echo its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s24/">Galaxy S24</a> approach, using the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/exynos-2600/">Exynos 2600</a> for global S26 and S26+ variants and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/05/19/qualcomm-just-revealed-when-the-snapdragon-8-elite-2-is-coming/">Snapdragon 8 Elite 2</a> for the S26 Ultra worldwide and all models in the US, Japan, South Korea, and China. The 8th generation foldables will also pack the 8 Elite 2, but there&#8217;s a twist.</p>

<h2>Samsung&#8217;s chip strategy for its upcoming flagships</h2>

<p>The Galaxy S26 series chip plan revives Samsung’s dual-chip strategy after the Snapdragon-exclusive S25 series, driven by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/11/06/exynos-2500-faces-production-setbacks-samsungs-3nm-yield-falls-below-20/">Exynos 2500’s yield issues</a>. A recent report out of South Korea claims the Exynos 2600, built on Samsung’s 2nm SF2 node with GAA FET architecture, will power the S26 and S26+ (or S26 Edge) in regions like Europe and Asia, while the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, made on TSMC’s 3nm N3P node, will fuel the S26 Ultra globally and the entire lineup in key markets. This mirrors the S24’s split, where the S24 Ultra used Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 worldwide, but the S24 and S24+ had Exynos 2400 in most regions.</p>

<p>Notably, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 “For Galaxy” will be manufactured using Samsung’s 2nm process, rather than TSMC’s. Qualcomm previously partnered with Samsung Foundry for the Snapdragon 888 and 8 Gen 1, but later returned to TSMC despite the higher costs—primarily due to performance and efficiency requirements. Will the 8th-generation foldables face similar issues as those earlier flagships? Only time will tell.</p>

<p>The Exynos 2600 and the 8 Elite 2 For Galaxy’s theoretical edge lies in its 2nm process, but TSMC’s N3P has historically outperformed Samsung’s nodes. Qualcomm’s dual-sourcing mainly aims to cut costs, as TSMC’s 3nm wafers are significantly pricier, reportedly priced at around $18,000 per wafer last year.</p>
