The latest version 3.0 update of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), rolled out by Krafton, is now available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. This Republic Day special update, eagerly awaited by India’s fan base, introduces several new features and modes, enhancing the gaming experience significantly.

What’s New in BGMI 3.0 Update?

One of the most notable additions is the Shadow Force Theme Mode. In this mode, players can explore urban landscapes like Erangel, Livik, and Sanhok, which have been transformed to add new tactical dimensions. The Shadow Blade, a melee weapon, stands out in this mode, offering enhanced combat capabilities with its swift attack skills and defensive moves. Another exciting element is the Skytether Hook, allowing players to perform aerial maneuvers and explore new tactical possibilities.

The update also brings major changes to the game‘s urban environments. Places like Yasnaya Polyana, Prison, and Georgopol have been extensively renovated, providing new challenges and opportunities. Moreover, the update introduces the Decoy Clone Summon, a feature that reduces the chances of elimination by deploying a decoy clone that mimics the player’s movement. This addition makes gameplay more unpredictable and engaging. The bolt-action rifles have been enhanced to penetrate targets, increasing the chances of eliminating multiple enemies simultaneously.

A major feature in this update is the new Respawn Battle mechanic only available in the Erangle map. This allows players an additional chance to respawn within the first eight minutes of the match. Taking place on a separate island, players who are defeated can return to the battleground by interacting with Respawn Points or using a special Emergency Respawn item. However, once a player is defeated again after returning, they cannot enter the Respawn Battle for a second time. Teammates can also recall players during the Respawn Battle.

Moreover, players can now heal while driving, adding an extra layer of strategy when caught in crossfire. The update includes a special appearance by Indian cricket star Hardik Pandya, further increasing its appeal to players.

In addition to this, the game also comes with Valentine’s Day-themed content where players in the game can enjoy a special experience by riding a two-player bicycle with captivating special effects. Players can also participate in “Play & Win” challenges to earn special rewards by completing missions. The update introduces the Cricket 33 Crate, featuring the new Hardik Blitz outfit along with celebratory emotes like Saras Sway and Dhamaka Dance. The Gold Spin now offers a chance for players to win the Shinobi Kami M416 skin.

Valve is getting closer to releasing Counter-Strike 2 in late 2023. In March 2023, the first limited test was released, only available to a small group of players and content creators. According to a recent post by CS2 on X, the company is trying to invite more players to join the CS2 Limited test.

How to get Counter Strike 2 Limited test?

As per the post, the players who have Prime status and are part of a competitive skill group in Counter-Strike Global Offensive will get an invitation. When you see this invitation on the top-left corner of your screen in the game, you can click on it. It will then ask you to exit the game and download the Counter-Striker 2 upgrade, which is about 26GB in size.

It’s worth mentioning that not everyone has received the update, myself included. Following this release, I unlocked my rank in CSGO, and I’m currently waiting for the invitation. However, there’s a possibility that the company might open up testing to the remaining players in the next release.

What can we expect from this update?

With this latest limited test release, people are now getting a chance to play on the reworked Inferno map. Players can now earn points for winning games in the latest Premier mode. The game introduces its new pick-and-ban system in ranked, which is much quicker than other games. Aside from the pick-and-ban ranked mode, the new rating system has been announced, and the post on X hints at how this new rating system works. Stay tuned for more information on Counter-Strike 2.

Counter-Strike is a first-person shooter video game that was originally developed as a modification of the popular game Half-Life in 1999. It was created by two developers, Minh Le and Jess Cliffe, who later worked with Valve Corporation to develop the game into a standalone game. The game quickly gained popularity, becoming one of the most played online games in the world. Counter-Strike 1.6 was released in 2003 and remained the most popular version of the game until the release of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) in 2012. The game stayed that way for more than ten years, until yesterday when Valve finally announced Counter-Strike 2, the long-awaited upgrade to CS:GO.

Valve is offering a limited beta to select members of the game’s community. The game has been fully overhauled to update every system, content and aspect of the Counter-Strike experience. Valve has moved the game to the latest version of its in-house Source 2 engine, which will result in a noticeable improvement in graphic quality. Counter-Strike 2 will feature sharper textures, more realistic lighting, and additional geometry.

Valve has taken a three-tier approach to level design. Touchstone maps, such as Dust 2, will mostly remain untouched. Upgrade maps will use the enhanced lighting pipeline to improve the materials and reflections’ realism, while Valve plans to completely overhaul a handful of levels to take full advantage of its engine.

The gameplay has also been enhanced with the move to Source 2. For example, smoke grenades will now exist as volumetric 3D objects within the game world, which will make them responsive to other gameplay elements. For instance, shooting or throwing grenades through the smoke will allow vision through the smoke for a split second. Valve is also overhauling the game’s server architecture to support sub-tick updates, which should make the new entry feel like the most responsive Counter-Strike game to date. This will be the biggest gameplay shift from the last game, which relied on 64-tick updates for registering in-game movements and other actions, such as shooting.

Valve’s announcement of Counter-Strike 2 has generated a lot of excitement within the gaming community. With its enhanced graphics, improved gameplay, and overhauled server architecture, Counter-Strike 2 looks set to deliver an upgraded and thrilling experience for its loyal fans.

The upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League game, developed by Rocksteady Studios, has been generating excitement among fans since its announcement in 2020. However, fans will have to wait some more, since the launch of the game has apparently been delayed from May 26 until later this year.

According to sources, the delay was due to fixing bugs and improving certain aspects of the game that were lacking. While the game received some criticism for its online requirement and purchasable cosmetic items, the core gameplay is reportedly unlikely to change. This is good news for fans of the original Batman games franchise since the combat mechanics and storyline execution of those games were way ahead of their time. The game received a fair amount of criticism upon launch, mostly leaning towards the negative side.

The game will also mark one of the final performances of Kevin Conroy, the celebrated voice actor who passed away last year. Sony has revealed that the company plans to expand its Chinese game incubation business, which is also known as China Hero Project. The company is planning to increase investment for incubating new games and developers in the region.

As per the report coming from Reuters, Sony is planning to invest one million yuan or about $140,000 in each China-developed game that the company incubates through its programs.

The development of increasing efforts by Sony in the Chinese market comes at a time when Microsoft is actively pursuing Chinese developers, and Reuters claims that Sony plans to go head-to-head with the Xbox maker in the country.

Previously, games incubated by Sony under China Hero Project received financial and development support, but the games weren’t published by the company. But now, as per the report, Sony aims to support Chinese games through PlayStation Studios and is aiming to publish games, starting with Lost Soul Aside.

So far, the company has supported 17 small-scale games alongside striking successful deals like Genshin Impact. By investing heavily in incubating new games and developers, the company plans to achieve its goal of selling twice the PS5 models in China than the PS4 models.

After missing out on making Genshin Impact an Xbox exclusive, Microsoft has reportedly been trying to scout for more Chinese video game developers to work with and is looking to entice them with large Xbox Game Pass offers.

Lenovo is gearing up to launch a new range of gaming devices under the Legion brand, including a smartphone, tablet, and laptop. The upcoming gaming laptop from the company is the Lenovo Legion Y7000P 2022.

The device has been leaked online previously and now the company has officially shared a new teaser image for the product, which reveals some of the key details about the laptop.

The poster image confirms that the Legion Y7000P 2022 gaming laptop will be 11.6 percent thinner than the previous generation model. Further, it adds that the thinnest part of the fuselage is just 19.9mm.

The company has also clarified that the heat dissipation has not been affected even though the thickness of the device has been reduced. The main heat pipe has been upgraded from 8mm to 10mm and the fan blade has been reduced from 0.25mm to 0.15mm.

Lenovo Legion Y7000P 2022 has a maximum CPU power consumption of 135W while the GPU, which is RTX 3050 Ti, has a full power consumption of 95W. The image adds that the dual-bake performance can be achieved at 45W + 95W.

Previously, the company had revealed thorugh a teaser poster that the upcoming gaming laptop will come with a 16:9 aspect ratio display and the screen resolution will be upgraded to Quad HD+ while the refresh rate will be increased to 165Hz.

We expect the company to share more details about the Lenovo Legion Y7000P 2022 laptop’s specifications and features in the coming days or weeks. The company has not yet confirmed the launch date for the device, but we expect that to be revealed soon.

A few days ago, on 11th November, PUBG: New State was launched for Android and iOS devices as a new battle royale game set in the future. The game has been popular as it has now crossed 10 million downloads on the Google Play Store.

This isn’t surprising as the game had over 55 million pre-registrations prior to its release. It has also claimed the #1 spot in over 165 countries, including South Korea, the United States, Germany, India, and Saudi Arabia, among others.

This new PUBG: New State game has been launched globally in around 200 countries. The game’s publisher Krafton has not yet announced the number of downloads taken place on the Apple App Store for iPhones and iPads.

The game had faced some post-launch issues including server crashes and smartphone bricking. However, the developers seem to have addressed and fixed those issues with a couple of updates. Several users had reported on the day of the game’s launch about the unresponsive loading screens, inability to join a match, and more.

Krafton has put in several new features into the game to make it more appealing and exciting for battle royale players. For starters, the storyline is based in the year 2051 and thus the players have access to futuristic weapons and vehicles.

PUBG: New State, which was announced a couple of months back, is now finally available to download through the Google Play Store for Android smartphone users in India. While it has been launched for Android, the iOS version is yet to get released.

The PUBG: New State game can now be downloaded through the Google Play Store but on the Apple iOS Store, it is still listed for pre-registration. We expect it to be available for iOS users also sometime later today.

As for the requirements, the Android users will need a device with at least 2GB of RAM and Android version 6 or above. For iOS users, the requirement is an iPhone or iPad running the iOS version 13 or later. For Android devices, the size of the game is around 1.4GB while for Apple devices, it is about 1.5GB.

For those who are unaware, PUBG: New State is a battle royale game developed by PUBG Studios and comes a few months after Battlegrounds Mobile India aka BGMI. While the BGMI game is exclusive to India, PUBG: New State has been released globally.

Similar to PUBG Mobile and BGMI, the game is free to play and features a modern/urban setting for its intense battle royale-style gameplay. It appears that the company is recycling resources from the original PUBG Mobile game but has added a futuristic twist with game elements like futuristic vehicles and weapons.

The popular Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, widely known as PUBG, is going free-to-play for a week. Not just that, the game is also receiving a name change. While the reason behind this has not been revealed by the company, it is being speculated the company is doing this to gauge player interest for turning this into a completely free-to-play game.

The free-to-play week has now been commenced, starting on August 10, and is going to run until August 16. This also coincides with Kpop mega-group Blackpink’s crossover content launching in the game, with decals on the airship and buildings.

Krafton, the studio that makes the PUBG game is even giving players some rewards for trying the game out during this promotion. As for the name change, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds will be known as “PUBG: Battlegrounds” going forward, which means the full name of the game is now officially Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds: Battlegrounds.

During this free-play week, rewards can be collected normally and the company has confirmed that mission progress and gameplay statistics will be recorded and put toward achievement progress if players wind up buying the full game.

It’s noteworthy that the promotion is only available on Steam, which means console players will not have access to it. Huawei is apparently looking into hiring developers that are experienced in the MMORPG genre, implying that the company might be working on its own game. The news arrives from new job listings that are for game developers.

According to an ITHome report, the Chinese tech giant is seeking to developers to fill out various rolls like game producer, lead producers, and a few other positions as well. Looking at these job listings, the recruitment positions are related to game development based around MMO genres that will be based on the U3D and UE4 (Unreal Engine 4) game engines. The location and office will be in Shanghai and the listing asks for about 5 years of experience in game development and project management as well.

For those unaware, MMORPG is short for “massively multiplayer online role playing games.” This implies that the game is an always online that will likely have the player control a fictional character with a number of customization and branching playstyles. Timi Studios, a popular mobile gaming app developing studio from Tencent, has apparently generated 10 billion US Dollars worth of revenue last year, as per two people close to the matter.

According to a Reuters report, the 10 billion US Dollars revenue would mean that Timi Studios is now the world’s largest developer, as per the sources. For those unaware, Timi is the studio behind the popular mobile game title, Honor of Kings and Call of Duty Mobile. While it is known for its mobile based IPs, the studio is apparently also planning on taking on major video game studios for AAA titles for PC and even console gaming. These titles would imply a hefty investment to make games for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Last month, the company had even posted a recruitment notice, which wrote that the company is seeking to create new AAA games that resembles the virtual community from the movie ‘Ready Player One’. This title will compete head on against other established studios from regions like Japan, South Korea, Europe, and the US. Furthermore, Tencent is also building studios locations outside of China, including one for Timi, and one for Lightspeed and Quantum as well in Los Angeles, US.

The goal of these new studios is to create content with original intellectual property that will have a global appeal. In simpler terms, the new sites will focus on making new and original game titles that will appeal to the mass market across the globe. This is in line with Tencent’s plans to generate half of its revenue from overseas, from 23 percent in the fourth quarter pf 2019. Reportedly, Timi Studios accounted for 40 percent of the Chinese tech giant’s game revenue.

The current flagship series from the South Korean giant Samsung — the Galaxy S21 lineup has now received support for the Amazon Luna game streaming service. This means that the devices in the lineup can access and play games on Amazon Luna.

The support is now available for all three smartphones — Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. These phones already had access to Google’s Stadia, Microsoft’s Project xCloud, and Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming services.

Do note that its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S20 series already supports Amazon Luna. Making the announcement, Amazon Luna tweeted and said that “Amazon Luna is now compatible with even more Android devices from Samsung including the S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra phone.”

For those who are unaware, Amazon Luna is a game streaming service, and to play games, the user just needs a stable internet connection, a compatible game controller, and a device that supports the service.

Currently, the game streaming is limited to 1080p at 60fps but the company will soon add support for 4K games for select titles. Notably, Amazon’s cloud gaming service is only available in the United States.

At launch, it was accessible on Fire TV, PC, Mac, and via its own web app on iOS. A few months ago, the service was released for Android users and is similar to the iOS version where users can directly access the cloud gaming services via the Chrome web browser without the need to install a dedicated app.

Ghost of Tsushima has achieved another record, as the game becomes the fastest selling PlayStation 4 Original title. It has already sold over 4 million copies worldwde and has even beaten other notable titles like Horizon Zero Dawn.

Earlier this week, PlayStation Worldwide Studios head Hermen Hulst shared a tweet that revealed that Ghost of Tsushima has become the fastest selling first party PS4 game with more than 5 million copies sold, despite being launched back in July 2020. This also marks an incredible achievement for the Sucker Punch game studio (which has also developed the popular Infamous series).

An important aspect to note here is the “Original” tag on the game since other titles have performed better than Ghost of Tsushima. Furthermore, Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II had also released a month prior to Ghost of Tsushima and had sold over 4 million copies in three days. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic-led lockdowns have affected various businesses. But some like the gaming industry profited by a high margin compared to last year. As people around the world are stuck at home, they either turn towards streaming or gaming, especially mobile gaming to kill time. This has helped PUBG Mobile to become the highest-grossing mobile game in May with more than $226 million in user spending.

PUBG Mobile aka Peacekeeper Elite (China) by Tencent is currently one of the popular mobile titles ever since its release in 2018. It is a free-to-play battle royale game with in-app purchases.

According to the latest report by Sensor Tower, PUBG Mobile’s revenue exceeded $226 million in May, making it the highest-grossing mobile game of the month. The revenue generated was 41% YoY increase.

Also, it is interesting to see that most in-app purchases came from China (53%), USA (10.2%), Saudi Arabia (5.5%), and not much from India where the game is immensely popular.

The second highest-grossing mobile title in the same period was Honor of Kings, another game by Tencent. It earned $204.5 million for the company, a 42% YoY growth. Most of its revenue came from China (95%), followed by Thailand (2.2%) where it is known as Garena Realm of Valor.

Niantic’s Pokémon GO also recorded its highest revenue of $82.2 million since September 2019. The developer recently added new content in the game to encourage playing at home.

Call of Duty Mobile, which is popularly known as COD Mobile is one of the popular smartphone games in recent years. It competes with PUBG Mobile, which is yet another game much well-known than this game in the same genre of ‘battle royale’. COD Mobile has received multiple updates over the last few months. Now, the developer behind the game has rolled out yet another update, which brings Season 4 as well as other new additions and fixes.

When COD Mobile debuted in October 2019 for everyone, it crossed over 100 million downloads within a week. Later, in two months time, the game garnered over 170 million downloads, which is yet another feat.

COD Mobile is popular among players because it offers a number of game modes such as  Free-for-All, Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Domination, and Battle Royale, unlikes its closest competitor PUBG Mobile.

Now, the latest update of the game brings three new game modes called Gun Game, 2v2 Showdown, and 20v20 FPP Warfare Mode. Additionally, it also adds a new map named Meltdown, couple of weapons, new scorestreak called ‘Shock RC’, and lots of fixes and improvements apart from bringing Season 4 to the game, which is scheduled to run from 1st April to 1st June. Lastly, this update also removes Zombies Mode.
