Keychron has introduced a new gaming mouse to the Chinese market called the G3 Air. It is priced at 599 yuan ($88) and is now available on JD.com.

The G3 Air weighs 43 grams. Instead of using a honeycomb shell with visible holes to reduce weight, Keychron opted for a solid shell made from a composite material containing 30% carbon fiber. The internal frame also uses a cross-brace design for added rigidity.

In terms of dimensions, the mouse measures 120 x 63 x 38.3mm, which is generally suited for users with small to medium-sized hands. It has a symmetrical shape with a narrower middle section and a wider back, a standard design meant to work with palm, claw, or fingertip grip styles. The exterior has a matte, textured finish for better grip, and the bottom features standard 100% PTFE feet to help it glide smoothly across a mousepad.

Inside, the G3 Air is equipped with a PixArt PAW3950 optical sensor and a Nordic 54L15 controller. The sensor goes up to 30,000 DPI, handles tracking speeds of 750 IPS, and supports 50G acceleration. You can also adjust the lift-off distance between three different settings. For the main left and right clicks, Keychron is using TTC Falcon micro switches, which are rated for a lifespan of 80 million clicks.

For connectivity, the mouse supports both a wired connection and 2.4GHz wireless. Both modes support an 8,000Hz polling rate. To support this, Keychron includes a dedicated 8K wireless receiver that features a small, built-in color display. The paired launch of a gaming phone and gaming mouse also reflects RedMagic’s broader push beyond smartphones. There’s still quite a bit we don’t know: pricing, weight, battery performance. However, the early details suggest this won’t be an entry-level accessory. The shape caters to palm, relaxed claw, and fingertip grips, especially for users with medium to large hands. The mouse feels secure and balanced in hand without forcing users into a particular grip.

The sensor supports up to 30,000 DPI, 750 IPS tracking speed, and 50G acceleration. Throughout testing in games like Apex Legends, Valorant, and CS2, the ZPW Max performed reliably without any tracking loss, jitter, or acceleration issues.

The inclusion of an 8000Hz polling rate is one of the mouse’s standout features. This ultra-high polling rate, supported via the included dongle, allows the mouse to send data to the PC every 0.125 milliseconds. While not all users will notice the difference between 1K and 8K polling, serious players and enthusiasts will appreciate the added responsiveness.

The mouse uses Omron optical switches rated for 100 million clicks. These switches deliver fast and satisfying tactile feedback. The main clicks are crisp and responsive, with minimal pre-travel and just a hint of post-travel when pressed at the back. The side buttons are large, easy to reach, and offer good feedback without noticeable wobble or sponginess.

The scroll wheel features a TTC Gold encoder with moderate resistance and well-defined steps. It avoids accidental inputs but still feels agile during rapid use. The middle click is slightly stiff, but it holds up well in general use.

Ergonomically, the mouse fits naturally in hand. The thumb groove on the left side provides good control, and the narrowing front allows for a comfortable pinch grip. The right side gently slopes to support the ring and pinky fingers. Combined with the mouse’s light weight and balanced body, these elements result in excellent overall control, even during high-speed flicks and tracking scenarios.

Software and Battery Life

The software experience with the Zaopin ZPW Max has been refreshingly smooth. Zaopin offers both a downloadable client and a web-based interface for configuration, and I’ve tested both extensively. In my experience, they worked flawlessly. All the expected customization options are there: DPI steps, polling rate, debounce time, lift-off distance, and macro assignment. Features like ripple control, angle snapping, and motion sync are also available, rounding out the toolset nicely.

The interface is clean and minimal, which I really appreciate. Unlike the bloated software packages from some mainstream brands, this one sticks to the essentials without feeling stripped down. I didn’t encounter any bugs or performance hiccups during my time with it. The only minor quirk I noticed was that the battery percentage can sometimes differ between the web version and the desktop version of the software. It’s not a dealbreaker, but something Zaopin could easily fix with a future update.

Battery life has been pretty solid overall. With 8K polling enabled and around 6 to 8 hours of daily use, I got about three to four days of runtime on a full charge. If you dial the polling rate down to 1000Hz, the battery easily lasts more than a week. And since the mouse supports wired operation while charging, there’s no disruption to your workflow or game time when it needs to juice up.

Final Thoughts

The Zaopin ZPW Max is a well-executed gaming mouse that nails the fundamentals and introduces enthusiast-grade features without pushing the price too high. It offers a lightweight build, strong ergonomics, optical switches, and flawless sensor performance, all wrapped in a clean design that doesn’t overpromise.

The coating provides reliable grip without discomfort, the buttons are consistent and durable, and the feet glide smoothly out of the box. The slightly creaky side panels during pressure tests are the only minor blemish on an otherwise excellent build. For competitive players, the 8K polling support and PAW3950 sensor ensure ultra-low latency and top-tier accuracy. For general users, the shape, weight, and comfort make it a solid daily driver.

However, I’ve noticed that the white version is prone to showing smudges and oil marks, particularly around the thumb area. While this is a minor cosmetic issue, frequent cleaning may be necessary to keep it looking pristine.

The SA-SH01 Pro comes with hot-swappable M1 and M2 switches. The mouse features pre-equipped Huano Transparent Green White dot switches, which offer a crisp and tactile click. However, swapping the switches is very easy, taking just a few seconds to remove and replace thanks to the metal-lined screw holes designed for repeated customizations.

I haven’t tried the hot-swappable feature myself yet, as it requires removing the padding and unscrewing the internals, which I haven’t gotten around to doing. However the overall design makes this process straightforward, and the customization options are a huge plus for those who like experimenting with different switch types.

Features and Performance

The SA-SH01 Pro is powered by the cutting-edge 3950 sensor, which is considered one of the best in the gaming community. This sensor allows for a maximum sensitivity of 30,000 DPI with a tracking speed of 750IPS and 50G acceleration, ensuring accurate movement during high-speed gaming sessions. 

The mouse’s polling rate goes up to 8000Hz, with an ultra-fast response time of 0.125ms, making it incredibly responsive. The DPI increments can be adjusted in steps of 50, giving you full control over precision based on your specific needs.

The lightweight build at 55 grams helps for a swift and smooth glide. The side buttons, positioned for easy access, are very satisfying. The scroll wheel, while standard, delivers distinct steps and consistent feedback.

In terms of everyday use, the mouse excels in various conditions. I put it through 7-8 hours of work and gaming daily, and it handled everything from fast-paced gaming to precise work tasks with ease. I didn’t notice any input lag, even when switching between the Bluetooth and 2.4GHz wireless modes. The three-mode connectivity (Bluetooth, 2.4GHz, and wired) makes it very versatile.

However, I faced one minor issue: I occasionally misclicked during work-related tasks like taking long screenshots, ruining the screenshot, and forcing me to retake it. This might be due to the trigger sensitivity, which is more of a personal issue related to my workflow rather than a flaw in the mouse design.

Software and Battery Life

The mouse provides both a web driver and a downloadable driver, featuring a user-friendly interface that allows customization for settings like DPI, polling rate, and key mappings. It also includes performance settings such as angle snapping, ripple control, and motion sync. The initial settings screen displays the battery percentage, which is helpful, but I think it would be even better if the battery percentage were also visible on the main settings page. Placing it at the top would make it easier to monitor at a glance.

As for battery life, I’ve mostly used the mouse in wired mode, so I don’t have a precise measure of its longevity. However, with the company claiming up to 85 hours at a 1,000 Hz polling rate, it should hold up well. Fast charging is another plus, as it fully recharges the 300mAh battery in just 1.5 hours, ensuring you’re rarely without the mouse for long.

Verdict

The RAWM SA-SH01 Pro is an exceptional gaming mouse that strikes a fine balance between performance, customization, and affordability. At approximately $70, it offers impressive features like an 8K polling rate, swappable switches, and a top-tier PAW3950 sensor.
