The Garmin Vivosmart 5 smartwatch has been launched and it comes with some improvements from its predecessor. The Vivosmart 5 sports a larger OLED display, replaceable straps, and a physical button. The new Garmin smartwatch comes in two sizes and has a battery that offers up to 7 days of activity on a full charge. The Garmin Vivosmart 5 is available on order from Amazon for $149.99.

With a 66% improvement in the display size from its predecessor, the Garmin Vivosmart 5 measures 10.5mm x 18.5mm. It has a resolution of 88 x 154 pixels. The OLED panel thus offers a better display of text than the Vivosmart 4. The larger display also means that the touchscreen is easier to use. The physical button in the Garmin Vivosmart 5 is below the display, but this is absent in the Garmin Vivosmart 4.

Owners of the Garmin Vivosmart 5 can replace the bracelets of their unit, in addition to extended use of the smartwatch for up to 7 days before needing to recharge. The battery life is reduced with pulse ox sleep tracking functional. The Vivosmart 5 is well-suited for swimming activities and it is capable of storing up to two weeks of activity data. Apart from pulse ox and sleep tracking, the Vivosmart 5 also offers heart rate monitoring, SpO2, and other health and fitness features. A GPS module is however lacking in the device for enhanced fitness tracking.

Both the small/medium and large sizes of the Garmin Vivosmart 5 are sold at $149.99 on Garmin’s website. The smaller model comes in black, cool mint, and white options of the bracelet. The larger smartwatch comes only in black for now. It remains to be seen how the Garmin Vivosmart 5 sits in the market and whether it will have decent reception.

The renders of Garmin’s next big smart wearable have leaked and it will come with a non-color touchscreen among other features. This year has seen much activity from Garmin as it seeks to rise in the pecking order of leading smartwatch brands like Apple and Samsung. Some of the Garmin 2022 offerings are innovative timepieces on their own but the company is not resting on its oars. Garmin is preparing to launch the Vivosmart 5 which could be one of the best fitness trackers in the market. New details relating to the Vivosmart 5 have leaked and the smart wearable could come well-kitted in its segment.

The Vivosmart 5 is the successor to the Vivosmart 4 which was launched in 2018. The authoritative leak is coming from Roland Quandt and indicates an improved display with a non-color touchscreen. The new screen is about 66% larger than that of the Vivosmart 4. This means that the user can easily read all health and fitness data and notifications without hassles. There are however no observed major improvements in terms of the sensors and fitness tracking options.

The Vivosmart 5 is rumored to have seven-day battery life and it offers an excellent option to monitor a wide variety of health and fitness activities. Multiple sports modes, GPS, and several sensors assure excellent monitoring of body functions. There are no indications yet on the pricing of the Garmin Vivosmart 5 but it could be priced lower than the Fitbit Charge 5 which is a leader in that segment. We expect some official confirmation or rebuttal of the claims relating to the Vivosmart 5.
