With the arrival of Android 9 Pie, Google brought gesture navigation to Android phones as a replacement for the Back, Home, and Recent keys. When Android 10 was announced last year, it arrived with refinements and new features for gesture navigation.

While Google wants folks to use the new gesture navigation, the option to still use the “traditional” Back, Home, and Recent button navigation is still available for those who prefer it.
