<p>A new Chromecast with <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/google">Google</a> TV could be featured on the Google Home app. A new leak points to this feature just months after its release. The new dongle was featured in a preview update for the Google Home app.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Chromecast-HD-With-Google-TV-Featured-1024x683.jpg?x44794" alt="Google" class="wp-image-508628" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Chromecast-HD-With-Google-TV-Featured-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Chromecast-HD-With-Google-TV-Featured-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Chromecast-HD-With-Google-TV-Featured-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Chromecast-HD-With-Google-TV-Featured-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Chromecast-HD-With-Google-TV-Featured-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Chromecast-HD-With-Google-TV-Featured-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Chromecast-HD-With-Google-TV-Featured.jpg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The new Google Chromecast dongle, according to the app preview, includes a new Google TV device with the YTC moniker. As a trend, the original Chromecast with Google TV was codenamed YTV, while the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) had the YTB codename. The inference to draw from the leaked codename is that the product will be another iteration of the Chromecast with Google TV.</p>

<p>Little is still known about the upcoming dongle outside the Google Home app preview. It could still be under development and is expected to be a high-end product higher than the HD variant of Chromecast. Moreover, there is a need to refresh the current Chromecast released in 2020. It is speculated that the new dongle will support AV1 decoding as a new Google standard. The device will also likely come with a more powerful chipset than its predecessor. There will also be improvements in storage and other features.</p>

<p>Google hasn’t made any announcement yet on the leaked Chromecast with Google TV. This is not the first time when a Google product will leak before its release. We, therefore, expect more release details for the upcoming dongle in the coming weeks. The price and availability details of the new device will also be available later. The mystery however remains that the specific release date for the product is not known. In addition, this could well be a rumor that the company doesn’t have any plans to pursue.</p>

Legal chief Eddie Lazarus stated that the audio based firm is suing the tech giant since it wants to highlight the &#8220;depth and breadth of Google’s copying.”</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/30/vivo-x50e-5g-with-snapdragon-765g-32mp-selfie-camera-48mp-quad-cameras-and-33w-charging-launched/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Vivo X50e 5G with Snapdragon 765G, 32MP selfie camera, 48MP quad cameras, and 33W charging launched</a></strong></h6>
<p>Jose Castaneda, a Google spokesperson has said that the company will be fighting the new lawsuit. He further added that the company has built the products mentioned in the lawsuit filing had been “designed independently” and that the company would deny such claims “vigorously.” Additionally, Google has also countersued Sonos over the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/01/14/sonos-sues-google-alleging-theft-of-smart-speaker-technology/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">previous case, which was filed back in June</a>, which is a known tactic to promptly end a legal battle.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-300673 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/google-vs-sonos.jpg?x44794" alt="google" width="640" height="427" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/google-vs-sonos.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/google-vs-sonos-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/google-vs-sonos-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></p>
<p>Sonos has frequently complained about the power major companies like Google and Amazon abuse, especially in regards to technology and their one sided terms. The firm also accused the major brand of knowingly violating the patents since the cost of any legal actions would be trivial compared to the profits the large corporation would make from selling the smart speakers. Apparently, suing Google was the last resort after discussions had failed between both sides and, regardless of the lawsuit, Sonos still aims to maintain a “positive relationship” with Google.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Google Chromecast was popular during its early days. But its demand has now faded away with a rise of better competitor products from Amazon and Roku. However, Google’s </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Android-TV/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Android TV</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> platform is doing fine with a partnership with multiple TV manufacturers and cable companies.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">But it does not have a flagship streaming device under its own branding. This is what Google is expected to change with a new mystery device.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As per the sources, this upcoming streaming device from the internet search giant will focus more on content than apps. But it will do come with Play Store for apps. Additionally, it is also expected to support </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/01/14/google-stadia-any-android-phone-xtadia/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Google Stadia</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, the company’s cloud gaming platform.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Whatever it is, it could have gone official at Google I/O 2020. Unfortunately, that is</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/04/google-io-2020-cancelled/"><span style="font-weight: 400"> not happening</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> due to global pandemic. <p><span style="font-weight: 400">Even if it goes official sometime later this year, it can get delayed due to supply chain issues.</span></p>

A couple of days ago, Chromecast 3rd edition was leaked by a Redditor showing some of its design changes. Today, we have got another leak which is showcasing the same new Chromecast with Home Mini in a new Google &#8216;Smart TV Kit&#8217; pack. It is not for the first time that Google is bundling its products, this time they have given it a name of &#8216;Smart TV Kit.&#8217;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-214907 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/google-smart-tv-kit-2.jpg?x44794" alt="google smart tv kit" width="728" height="409" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/google-smart-tv-kit-2.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/google-smart-tv-kit-2-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left">A Reddit user LitheBeep has posted the image of &#8216;Smart TV Kit&#8217; box. He figured that it packs a new version of the Chromecast and everything else is similar to the old bundles. It&#8217;s clear from today&#8217;s leak and the leaks in the past that Google is coming with a Chormecast 3rd edition at the launch event on October 9.</p>
<p>Further, we are expecting a <a href="/www.gizmochina.com/tag/pixel-3/">Pixel 3</a> and <a href="/www.gizmochina.com/tag/pixel-3-xl/">Pixel 3 XL</a> with high-end specs and inbuilt AI support. There&#8217;s also some reports of a new device known as with the name of Google Home Hub. It&#8217;s a display device powered with Google Assistant as leaked in various rumors before.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-214906 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/google-smart-tv-kit.jpg?x44794" alt="google smart tv kit" width="329" height="439" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/google-smart-tv-kit.jpg 329w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/google-smart-tv-kit-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="(max-width: 329px) 100vw, 329px" /></p>
<p><strong>Check more about October 9 Made by Google event: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/09/07/google-schedules-event-for-october-9-and-these-are-what-we-expect-to-be-announced/">Google schedules event for October 9 and these are what we expect to be announced</a></strong></p>
<p>Additionally, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/03/google-pixel-3-xl-geekbench-listing-leaks-key-specs/">expected to carry</a> Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with a full-view notch display on both the devices. It will bring 4GB of RAM and is expected to ship in different storage variants of 64/128/256 GB. It will board with the fingerprint sensor on the rear side, rather than the ongoing trend of the on-screen fingerprint sensors.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s see what happens on October 9th, as nothing is confirmed for now. By the way, what are you expecting from the Made by Google event next week? Share with us via the comments below.</p>
