The smartphone has been unleashed at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2017 tech exhibition. It was launched alongside Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom.</p>
<h3><strong>World&#8217;s  First Tango, Daydream Ready Smartphone </strong></h3>
<p>As mentioned above, the Taiwanese tech company has managed to unleash the ZenFone AR that supports Google Tango augmented reality technology though its TriCam system featuring three cameras for motion tracking, depth measuring and room mapping.</p>
<p>Tango with it set of sensors can measure space and motion like humans do. At present, there are only 35 AR apps available, but more apps are expected to roll out later this year.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-114097 aligncenter" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Asus-ZenFone-AR-1.jpg?x10805" alt="Asus ZenFone AR" width="500" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Asus-ZenFone-AR-1.jpg 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Asus-ZenFone-AR-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Asus-ZenFone-AR-1-300x300.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></p>
<p>At the launch event, Asus also demoed how the ZenFone AR can be used through GAP AR app to understand how garments fit on a model. The first AR smartphone, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/lenovo-phab2-pro/" target="_blank">Lenovo Phab 2 Pro</a> launched in 2016 does not support Daydream VR. Asus ZenFone AR is also Google Daydream ready smartphone through which users can enjoy high-quality immersive virtual reality.</p>
<p>As of this writing, Tango AR and Daydream VR experience cannot be combined on Asus ZenFone AR. In other words, Daydream apps can be used only when the smartphone is present inside a Daydream VR headset and Tango apps can be used only when it is in Tango Mode.</p>

Google has however stated that most top phones in the market are unlikely to qualify for Daydream support as they want to set a high standard. Huawei&#8217;s <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/04/27/new-nexus-6p-snapdragon-820-android-7-0-spotted/">Nexus 6P</a>  is however recommended for DIY developers of Daydream.<img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-83874" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/huawei-sign-logo-store.jpg?x10805" alt="huawei-store logo" width="1200" height="806" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/huawei-sign-logo-store.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/huawei-sign-logo-store-300x202.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/huawei-sign-logo-store-768x516.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/huawei-sign-logo-store-1024x688.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>With this new development, the head of Huawei&#8217;s CEO , Richard Yu, mentioned in an interview with Wall Street Journal that the tech giant will launch a new Daydream supported phone during the fall as well.</p>
<p>He also mentioned that the company&#8217;s partnership with German optics specialist, Leica, which resulted in the birth of the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/04/06/huawei-p9-officially-announced-with-12mp-dual-cameras-from-leica/">Huawei P9</a>, is expected to go on for the next five years.</p>
<p>Another important info Mr. Yu divulged during the interview is the company&#8217;s plans to start offering phones via US carriers, stating that plans are already in motion for that to begin.</p>
<p>Now the question is if consumers will be willing to put on hold getting new phones till Daydream supported ones are announced?</p>
