Tata Play partners with Google to launch the Nest cam (battery) in India

Google Nest security camera is entering the Indian market thanks to Tata Play. Tata Play is offering a bundled service that includes providing the battery-powered Google Nest Cam and a Google Nest Mini. The packages are Tata Play Secure and Tata Play Secure+. It also includes an annual Nest Aware subscription service.

Google Nest Cam was launched last year and it provides intelligent alerts that can be customized to meet security needs. You can be notified when the camera picks a moving object (human, animals, vehicles, etc.) It also offers advanced familiar face recognition alerts using the Nest Aware subscription. The Google Nest Cam (Battery) offers two-way communication thanks to its built-in microphone and high-quality speaker. It offers Full duplex 2-way audio and noise cancellation.

The Google Nest Cam (Battery) is built for all conditions and corners of the home. It is weather-resistant and does not need any wires for connection. It can also see clearly in any light with HDR and night vision capability. It also has an Event Video history using the Google Home app. You can get up to 60 days of Event Video History and 10 days of continuous video history. The in-built memory of the Google Nest Cam can store up to one hour of recorded events.

The Tata Play Secure and Google Nest Cam will be available in at least 10 cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. Subscribers to the Nest Aware service will pay the sum of Rs. 11,999 (~$153) inclusive of installation of the Nest Cam. The yearly subscription for the basic plan is Rs. 3,000 (~$38) for up to 4 devices, while the Tata Play Secure+ plan starts at Rs. 5,000 (~$64) annually. Early subscribers could get a free Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen) speaker. Interested subscribers can get the package from the Tata Play website. The support also includes a 1-year warranty for the Google Nest Cam.

Google Nest Cam and Nest Cam with Floodlight goes on sale in the United States

A few weeks ago, Google had announced its new Nest Cam lineup. Out of the four devices that the company had unveiled, the Nest Cam battery and the Nest Doorbell went on sale in August. Now, the tech giant is launching the remaining two products — Nest Cam wired and the Nest Cam with floodlight.

The Google Nest Cam wired is the budget offering from the company and is much smaller in size when compared to the indoor/outdoor Nest Cam. It has a 16:9 aspect ratio and comes with support for 1080p video at up to 30fps. The device also has a 135-degree field of view and 6x digital zoom.

The product comes in four color options — White, Pink, Beige, and Green, for the price of $99. There’s also a pink-hue model also comes with a wooden base, which comes at slightly higher pricing of $119.

On the other hand, the Google Nest Cam with floodlight is similar to the indoor/outdoor Nest Cam but comes attached with a 2,400-lumen floodlight. It records video through a 1/2.8-inch 2-megapixel sensor with 130-degree field-of-view and 6x digital zoom support.

It requires permanent power and has to be wired into the home’s wiring through a standard outdoor junction box. The floodlight is rated IP65 for weatherproofing and the camera itself is IP54. The device is on sale through Google Store for $279.99.

The product uses on-device intelligence to detect people, animals, and vehicles rather than just relying on a motion sensor. This means that you’re not illuminating the area through the light when something not-so-important happens.

Additionally, the new Nest cameras come with built-in intelligence and on-device processing, which means that there is now less reliance on the cloud. Google also allows users to create Activity Zones for free and get three hours of event-based video.

The user will be able to record up to an hour of footage if the internet connection breaks up or the power goes out. For more than three hours of recording, or to enable 24/7 recording, users will need to purchase a Nest Aware subscription, starting at $6 a month.

A few days back, we reported the leak of the latest Google Nest cameras on Google’s online store, fuelling speculation on an imminent launch of the devices. And true to the predictions, Google has officially announced the Nest Cam and Nest Doorbell. The devices are already available for pre-order on Google’s online store. Google is also providing some financing options for interested buyers, with payment spread over 24 months.

The lineup of security gadgets from the Google Nest brand offers smart solutions to some common security issues, with a number of innovations from the previous models. The camera variants are an indoor-only model and an indoor/outdoor model. The new battery-powered Nest Video Doorbell is an improvement of the Nest Hello doorbell.

While the devices sport some of the features that we have come to attach to the Google Nest products, there are several smart and intelligent innovations that make the products important additions to the home security architecture. The anti-theft feature also adds to the versatility of the products.

The new Google Nest security cameras can record up to three hours of event history and store event clips for the duration of one hour without the need for a subscription. The feature is further expanded with a valid subscription.

Google Nest Doorbell color options

The new Google Nest Cam and Video Doorbell are already available for pre-ordering from Google’s online store, and shipments will commence on August 24th, at a price of $179.99 for each of the products.
