The phones’ prototypes have already been leaked in live images and videos online ahead of the launch. It has also been revealed that forthcoming Pixel phones will sport the same display as their predecessor. Now a developer revealed via Twitter that he has been able to use Pixel 7 Pro’s display drivers on Pixel 6 Pro to access a hidden Android 13 screen resolution setting.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">By using the Pixel 7 Pro&#39;s display driver on the Pixel 6 Pro, Android 13&#39;s screen resolution setting becomes available, and the resolution can be changed to 1080p.</p>
<p>Video credits: <a href="https://twitter.com/TheLunarixus?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@TheLunarixus</a> <a href="https://t.co/Ho5jPfrbOd">pic.twitter.com/Ho5jPfrbOd</a></p>
<p>&mdash; Mishaal Rahman (@MishaalRahman) <a href="https://twitter.com/MishaalRahman/status/1532179923070332929?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 2, 2022</a></p></blockquote>
<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>As you can see in the video, The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/google-pixel-6-pro/">Pixel 6 Pro</a>&#8216;s screen resolution can be adjusted to 1080p by using the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google-pixel-7-pro/">Pixel 7 Pro</a>&#8216;s display driver. This confirms the rumors of the Pixel 7 series using the same display as the Pixel 6 series. Moreover, it implies that the Pixel 7 Pro&#8217;s display will be 1440p and that it can also be changed to 1080p. On the contrary, Pixel 6 Pro does not have such a feature but it’s possible that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google">Google</a> may introduce this with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-13">Android 13</a> Update.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://twitter.com/TheLunarixus/status/1532213433533353984">developer</a> also stated that it&#8217;s an actual resolution with specific timings defined in the driver and in addition to 1080p, it also supports 1080p30Hz.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-459931" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Google-Pixel-7-Series-2.jpg?x96852" alt="Google Pixel 7 Series" width="2000" height="1125" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Google-Pixel-7-Series-2.jpg 2000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Google-Pixel-7-Series-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Google-Pixel-7-Series-2-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Google-Pixel-7-Series-2-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Google-Pixel-7-Series-2-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Google-Pixel-7-Series-2-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Google-Pixel-7-Series-2-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Google-Pixel-7-Series-2-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px" /></p>
<p>Resolution adjustment can be useful while gaming. Moreover, it takes less CPU/GPU power to render fewer pixels, which extends battery life. The visual difference between 1080p and 1440p is negligible, however, the graphic performance is much better in the 1440p resolution.</p>
<p>We already know that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/05/28/pixel-7-and-7-pro-reportedly-share-display-and-other-key-specs-with-the-pixel-6-duo/">Pixel 7 and 7 Pro</a> will be powered by the next-generation <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/06/01/samsung-continues-to-collaborate-with-google-on-the-2nd-generation-tensor-soc-report/">Tensor 2</a> manufactured by Samsung. The Pixel 7 series seems to sport a similar design to the Pixel 6, it will have the same visor-like camera module with the Pixel 7 Pro having a triple camera setup. Both the devices will likely run Android 13 out of the box.</p>
<p>Other hardware specifications of the smartphones are yet to be known. However, given the rate of leaks, we&#8217;ll soon know more about both the phones.</p>
