Vivo V60 (full review) arrived last month as a mid-range smartphone packed with impressive features like a bright AMOLED panel, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, powerful cameras, and a huge 6,500mAh battery — all for a starting price of INR 37,000. It’s an excellent choice for the price, but not the only showstopper in this price segment.

There are several great alternatives to the Vivo V60 from its rivals, including OnePlus, Realme, Samsung, Google, and others. Here are six excellent alternatives that give the Vivo V60 some serious competition.

1. OnePlus 13R

The OnePlus 13R is a strong contender in the premium mid-range segment for many reasons. The primary one is solid performance, thanks to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The 6,000mAh battery and 80W charging are generous, though Vivo’s bigger 6,500mAh cell and 90W charging still hold the edge.

On the plus side, the OnePlus 13R offers Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, higher peak download and upload speeds, and even Wi-Fi 6e in select markets. A clean and bloat-free software is another reason to pick OnePlus over Vivo.

Launched at a starting price of INR 79,999, the flagship-grade Galaxy S24 is now available at a much lower price. It comes in two chip options: Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The latter offers better gaming performance, but both of them easily outperform the Vivo V60’s 7 Gen 4.

The 6.2-inch LTPO AMOLED display may be smaller, but it delivers excellent colors and smoothness. For cameras, the S24 features a 50MP primary camera, a 10MP telephoto unit, and a 12MP ultrawide shooter, with support for 8K video recording. The 12MP selfie camera can shoot up to 4K videos.

The battery capacity and charging speed are somewhat disappointing, but Samsung compensates for this by offering wireless and reverse wireless charging. The Galaxy S24 also offers solid connectivity features, a more durable body, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for better accuracy.

The Pixel 8 Pro delivers big on camera and software. It features a horizontal camera bar that holds a 50MP primary sensor, a 48MP periscope telephoto unit, and a 48MP ultrawide camera, all capable of 4K recording. In addition to high-resolution sensors, there’s software magic from Google that further enhances images and videos. There’s a 10.5MP selfie camera, which also supports 4K recording.

Software is another great aspect of Pixel phones. You get a clean UI, the fastest OS updates, and up to seven years of software updates and security patches. In comparison, the Vivo V60 has some bloatware and only promises four major OS updates.

The main trade-off is the 5,050mAh battery with 30W wired charging, which doesn’t quite match Vivo’s. However, it does offer 23W wireless and reverse wireless charging, along with a tougher build and the latest connectivity standards.

If raw performance is your priority, the Realme GT 7 Pro (full review) is tough to beat. It rocks the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which easily outclasses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 in the V60. The display is nearly the same size but features higher resolution, LTPO technology, and an incredible 6,500 nits peak brightness.

The rear setup includes a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP telephoto camera, and an 8MP ultrawide lens, with support for 8K recording. The 16MP selfie camera, limited to 1080p video, is the only weak spot here.

The global model matches the Vivo V60 in battery size, while the Indian version comes with a slightly smaller battery but superior 120W wired charging. The GT 7 Pro also benefits from Wi-Fi 7, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and better durability.

It’s another excellent addition to the list, featuring triple 50MP rear cameras — wide, periscope telephoto, and ultrawide — with support for 4K video recording. The selfie camera is also 50MP and supports 4K recording.

The Reno 14 Pro has the Dimensity 8450 chip under the hood, which is faster and more power-efficient than the Vivo V60’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. It features a slightly larger AMOLED screen with a higher pixel density.

Where it falls is the battery size, but at 6,200mAh and 80W, it’s still ahead of most rivals in this price segment. But the Reno 14 Pro supports 50W wireless charging and Wi-Fi 6e, both of which are lacking on the Vivo V60.

Pixel devices have lacked the support for display output via USB-C for years. Now with the Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2 update, Google has finally enabled DisplayPort Alternate Mode on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. It enables you to cast your phone’s display on a bigger screen.

Although most of the Pixel devices from the past have offered USB-C 3.1 or above (the hardware requirement to transmit video via the USB-C port) Google has kept the feature disabled up until this point. Back in October last year it was possible to use the feature on Pixel 8 through projects like GrapheneOS. Now Google has finally baked the feature to a stage where you don’t need to modify the system to use DisplayPort Alternate Mode.

When you connect your Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro to an external display, a prompt should pop up asking whether you’d like to mirror to an external display. if you go ahead, the contents of your smartphone screen appear in the middle of the monitor with the wallpaper filling the rest. Reportedly, a revamped “Desktop Mode” interface is under development and is currently hidden behind flags. Meanwhile, older Pixel devices can still enable and use this DisplayPort feature through Magisk module. The process involves installing Magisk Manager, downloading the DisplayPort Magisk Module, and flashing it via the tool. You reboot the phone and you should be good to go.

Notably, Samsung devices with the required hardware have had this feature since 2017. It is called Samsung DeX and offers a more desktop-like interface. Besides the use of USB-C, Samsung has even managed to transmit the data wirelessly, making it even more appealing to one who needs it. Android’s built-in desktop mode has reportedly been under development since Android 10. When or whether Google will offer an equivalent still remains a question.

Google is pushing a first-of-its-kind update to the Google Pixel 8 Pro. It updates the AI Core app that powers on-device AI features. This AI Core app operates quietly in the background to process some of the AI-driven functionalities directly on the device instead of relying on the cloud servers and internet connection.

An enhancement in on-device AI capabilities

According to a Google Play Store listing that showed up earlier, “AI Core powers features across Android and provides apps with the latest Al models” However, the Play Store listing has been taken down. Probably Google plans for a separate announcement for this addition.

While the average user may not directly interact with AI Core, it plays a pivotal role in enhancing the overall user experience on the Pixel 8 Pro. The recent update, taking the app from version 0.release.539035001 to 0.release.582652206, is specifically tailored for the Pixel 8 Pro (codenamed “husky”). Pixel phones and tablets have included a placeholder for AI Core since the initial Android 14 update.

If you are using the Pixel 8 Pro, the update should have already been downloaded automatically on your phone and serving its job. Currently, this update is reported exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro. However, it’s expected to make its way to the Pixel 8 if not to the older pixel devices with Tensor chips in the near future.

Some notable applications of the latest foundation models might include the implementation of features like ‘Zoom Enhance’ or making Magic Eraser work more swiftly. Notably, Samsung has also confirmed the addition of these kinds of capabilities to its upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S24 series, referring to it as an ‘AI Phone.’

Some Google Pixel 8 Pro owners have raised concerns regarding impressions from inner components on their device screens which look like circular bumps, prompting attention from Google. These bumps may result from components pressing against the soft underside of the OLED panel but are only visible in specific lighting conditions.

Google states that the impressions should have no impact on performance or durability

In response to user observations, Google released a statement acknowledging that “some users may see impressions from components in the device that look like small bumps.” However, the company reassures users that these impressions do not affect the Pixel 8 Pro’s performance or durability. According to a Google spokesperson, the new display on the device may show these impressions when the screen is turned off and not in use, particularly in specific lighting conditions.

The company suggests that the uneven surface on which the display rests might be a contributing factor to the impressions, and teardowns of the device support this possibility.

While the current reports indicate that the circular bumps are not affecting the device’s touch functionality or image quality, some Pixel 8 Pro owners express concerns about potential worsening over time. Google, in its statement, asserts that there is no functional impact and assures users that the original warranty remains valid for a year.

In response to the reported issue, some owners have reached out to Google for replacements. However, it’s noted that replacement devices may also contain the same circular bumps. This has led some users to call for an extended warranty to cover potential deterioration of the display over time.

Google launched the Pixel 8 series phones earlier this month. The striking highlight of the latest-generation flagships from the search giant is 7 years of guaranteed software updates. Google Pixel 8 Pro durability test

The Google Pixel 8 Pro boasts a super actua display offering high brightness levels. The screen is shielded by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and it gets scratched at level 6 with deeper grooves noticeable at level 7. It is not as resistant as Apple’s Ceramic Shield on the latest iPhone 15 series. Meanwhile, the back panel comes out with no scratches. The smartphone has a slim profile with the frame made up of recycled aluminum. It gets easily scratched on all sides in the scrape test. Notably, the camera visor on the rear suffers the same fate along with the new thermometer sensor below the LED flash unit. The power and volume rocker buttons can also be removed. 

In the burn test, the Pixel 8 Pro withstands flame for 17 seconds but succumbs to a permanent burn mark as the dead pixel does not get restored. This should not be an issue unless you find yourself in a similar situation in the real world. The optical fingerprint scanner works flawlessly despite being scratched multiple times. 

Lastly, the Pixel 8 Pro holds its ground in the most gruesome test – the bend test. Zack tries bending it from both sides with ample force multiple times. The overall structural rigidity remains uncompromised.

The Pixel 8 Pro debuted earlier this month as Google‘s top-of-the-line flagship. It brings improvements in the camera department, as well as a new Tensor G3 chip underneath. The phone also comes with a promise of 7 years of software support. But what about its durability? Will it even last 7 years of usage? A new scratch and drop test of the Pixel 8 Pro might have answered these questions.

Google Pixel 8 Pro is a sturdy phone

PBKreviews decided to put the Pixel 8 Pro through some rigorous testing. The YouTuber started by dropping the phone from waist height with the screen facing the concrete. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the Pixel 8 Pro easily managed to handle the drop without any visible damage.

Later, the YouTuber dropped it from head height, and although it sounded painful, the handset had no major scratches on the front and back. The same tests were carried out with the phone’s back facing the concrete, and there were no notable scratches.

PBKreviews tested the Pixel 8 Pro’s scratch by putting it inside a bag of sand and gravel and rubbing it against it. Surprisingly, the Google flagship managed to remain almost scratchless.

The YouTuber observed that the Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max sustained more damage than the tested phone in the same drop and scratch tests. Overall, the tested phone handled drops and scratches very well.

The most impressive aspect was the phone’s ability to withstand drops on the screen side, both from waist and head height, without cracking. This is unusual in drop tests on concrete surfaces, as phones typically crack their screens when dropped from waist height, and those that survive that often crack from head height drops (except for phones like the Mate 60 Pro, which features Kunlun glass).

The YouTuber concluded that the tested phone has better durability than the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but not as good as the 14 Pro Max.

Google announced its Pixel 8 series smartphones with a number of new camera features. Notably, some of these features are reserved exclusively for the Pro model, including manual focus, shutter speed adjustments, and ISO controls – or so Google claims.

Interestingly, Kamila Wojciechowska, a well-known tipster shared that she was able to run the Pixel 8 Pro’s exclusive camera features on a Pixel 7 Pro by modding the Pixel 8’s Google Camera APK.

In fact, she made a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) showcasing those camera features on her 7 Pro. She also mentioned that these features “fully work on any Tensor Pixel, from the 6 to the 7 Pro.” That means, even if you own a Pixel that’s a couple of years old, you can use these features effortlessly with a modded Google Camera Apk.

Some of the camera features that Wojciechowska was able to enable on the Pixel 7 Pro include manual focus with focus peaking, switching between lenses, and changing shutter speed and ISO. 

Focus peaking is Google’s new feature that uses highlighted lines to indicate what’s in focus before you take a photo. But according to Wojciechowska, unlike the Pixel 8 Pro, which lets you set the shutter speed as high as 16 seconds without Night Sight, her Pixel 7 Pro was only able to support shutter speeds of up to 8 seconds—although the camera UI shows 16 seconds. 

Likewise, you can also control both the shutter speed and ISO manually or choose to tweak one of them while the other option remains automatic.

Modding Google Camera is not a new trend in the Android community, as people often prefer Google’s camera app due to its software features and post-processing algorithm. So, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Pixel 8 Pro’s exclusive camera features even on Samsung or Xiaomi phones in the future.

Anyway, Google is also adding some new camera features to both the Pixel 8 (Amazon)  and Pixel 8 Pro (Amazon), such as Zoom Enhance, improved Magic Eraser, Audio Magic Eraser, and Best Take. These features will be available on October 12.

Despite the outstanding photo quality of the Google Pixel 7 series of smartphones, Google’s flagships have long suffered from complaints of poorer battery life and cellular stability than their competitors like Apple, Xiaomi and OnePlus. And the main culprit has always been assumed to be Google’s power-intensive Tensor chipsets manufactured on Samsung’s foundry.

With the recent release of the Google Pixel 8 series this week, Google fans were curious by whether the new Tensor G3 chipset would bring better battery life to the Pixel lineup. However, based on the small fine print on Google’s “Compare Phones” section on its website, it is revealed that the Google Pixel 8 series not only has the same bad battery life as the Pixel 7 series but is also worse than the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro that were released 2 years ago.

As shown in the official fine print above, the latest Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro’s battery lasted an average of 31 hours from Google’s own internal testing, which makes both devices on par with the Pixel 7a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro from last year. In addition, when compared to the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro launched 2 years back, the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro’s battery life is worse because they only last 3 hours shorter than Google’s own Pixel 6 at 34 hours. We compiled a table below to view Google’s claims of average battery life in its Pixel lineup in descending order, alongside the battery capacity of each Pixel smartphone.

For context, external testers like TechDroider on YouTube, have tested the battery life of last year’s Google Pixel 7 Pro against the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, OnePlus 11, Xiaomi 13 Ultra, and Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max. Their results on battery life are as shown in Table 2.

As shown, the Pixel 7 Pro is significantly lagging behind its competitors in the battery life department of the premium smartphone market by around 2 hours in battery life. And the battery life result of 8 hours and 13 mins is much shorter than Google’s official claim of 31 hours on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.

If Google’s claims of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro’s battery are true, then the Pixel 8 series has the same bad battery life of “31 hours” as the Pixel 7 and possibly worse battery life than the Pixel 6 series as well.

The Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8 are going official tomorrow, and Google will also unveil Android 14. There have been tons of leaks about both phones, including a few hands-on videos. While there’s not much left to be revealed about the upcoming phones, new hands-on images of the Pixel 8 Pro running the AIDA64 and Device Info HW apps have revealed some of its key hardware specs.

Pixel 8 Pro Specifications

The new images reveal major hardware details of the Pixel 8 Pro. The phone features 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’s powered by Google’s new nona-core Tensor G3 chip, with four Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 1.704GHz, four Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 2.367GHz, and a Cortex-X3 prime core clocked at 2.914GHz. The GPU is a Mali-G715.

On the camera front, the Pixel 8 Pro is rumored to have three unique sensors: 12.5MP, 12MP, and 12.2MP. Since there will be 4-in-1 pixel binning, the Pixel 8 Pro could get a 50MP main camera, two 48MP shooters for the ultrawide and zoom lenses, and a 10.5MP selfie camera.

Pixel 8 Pro was recently spotted on Geekbench 6.2, posting a single-core score of 1,760, and a multi-core score of 4,442. These scores are mediocre at best, considering the Pixel 8 Pro is a top-notch flagship. For comparison, the OnePlus 11 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 manages to get 1707 points in single-core and 4892 points in the multi-core test of Geekbench 6.

In other respects, the smartphone is reported to be built around a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display that offers QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device could come with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage. A recent leak revealed the Pixel 8 Pro will start at $999 in the US.

The Pixel 8 series is also expected to feature a higher price tag. The Search Engine giant’s Pixel 8 Pro was spotted in a new report, which carries a series of images of the device getting unboxed. These images showcase the smartphone running with the factory setting during a last quality check and clean. For those unaware, this process is the last step ahead of a smartphone being packaged. The images were shared on Facebook (Via ShishierShelke1).

Looking at the images, the Google Pixel 8 Pro can be in the Obsidian Black color option as well as the Porcelain variant. Unfortunately, the pictures aren’t the best quality but it does reveal the complete design elements of the new smartphone like its matte rear panel. We can also see the USB Type-C cable in the packaging box along with the charger, and Google’s Quick Switch Adapter.

Google is getting ready to release the Pixel 8 series of smartphones worldwide on October 4th. Just like in the past, a lot of information about these phones, such as how they look, what they can do, and how much they’ll cost, has already come out through leaks. In a different report, we talked a lot about the Google Pixel 8, and in this one, we’ve put together all the details we have to give you a clear idea of what the Pixel 8 Pro will be like.

Design and display

Kicking things off with the design, the Pixel 8 Pro will see modest changes over the Pixel 7 Pro, retaining the camera visor, and the overall look. The visor will feature a larger cutout for the tripel back cameras, and a thermometer will be tucked away at the right corner.

We don’t expect the build materials to change, meaning that it will likely be the same aluminum and glass build, with a matte finish and slightly more curvy edges.

Up-front, the device will likely feature a flat 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display offering a 3120×1440 pixel resolution, 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and up to 2,400 nits maximum brightness. It is protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The phone will come with an IP68 waterproof rating, measuring 162.6 x 76.5 x 8.7mm and weighing 213 grams.

Specs

Under the hood, the Pixel 8 Pro will come with a new Tensor G3 SoC, which is rumored to be based on Samsung’s Exynos 2300 SoC. Manufactured on Samsung’s cutting-edge 3nm node, the chip is said to run a lot cooler than its predecessor, thanks to FO-WLP (Fan-out wafer-level packaging) packaging. That being said, the smartphone will not be breaking any benchmark records since the leaked Geekbench 5 score has revealed a single-core performance of 1186 points and a multicore performance of 3809 points.

The Pixel 8 Pro will have 12GB of RAM, and storage options of up to 1TB in the US and up to 512GB elsewhere. It will come with a 5,050mAh battery that supports fast charging at 30W and Qi-wireless charging at 23W. It will support WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC for connectivity, and will have a Titan M2 chip onboard for security. The phone will launch with Android 14 and receive five major OS updates along with seven years of security updates.

Camera

Just like other specs, we have info on the Pixel 8 Pro’s cameras. It’s said to have a 50 MP Samsung GN2 wide camera with an f/1.68 aperture and 82° field of view. There’s also a 48 MP Sony IMX787 ultrawide camera with autofocus and a wide 125.5° field of view. Additionally, the phone will have a 48 MP Samsung GM5 telephoto camera with f/2.8 aperture and 5x optical zoom. It can zoom digitally up to 30x. Both the wide and telephoto cameras come with optical and electronic image stabilization.

For selfies, the Pixel 8 Pro features a 10.5 MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture. It offers auto-focus and a wide 95° ultrawide field of view. The phone will offer a boatload of camera features including Pro controls, high-resolution image capture, Ultra HDR, Magic Editor, Best Take, Macro Focus, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Motion Mode, Real Tone, Face Unblur, Panorama, Manual white balancing, Locked Folder, Night Sight, Astrophotography, Top Shot, Portrait mode, Portrait Light, Super Res Zoom, Motion auto-focus, Frequent Faces, Dual exposure controls, and Live HDR.

Among these features, a noteworthy one is “Best Take.” This feature enables users to alter the facial expressions of subjects in a photo, choosing the most appealing expression from a burst of pictures.

On the video front, the rear camera will support 4K video recording at 24 FPS, 30 FPS, and 60 FPS, as well as 1080p video recording at the same frame rates. It features Dual exposure on the wide camera. The front camera also supports 4K video recording at 24 FPS, 30 FPS, and 60 FPS. Additional video features include Audio Magic Eraser, Video Boost, Night Sight Video, Macro Focus Video, 10-bit HDR video, Cinematic Blur, Cinematic Pan, Slow-motion video support up to 240 FPS, 4K timelapse with stabilization, Astrophotography timelapse, Optical image stabilization, Fused video stabilization, 4K Cinematic Pan video stabilization, 4K locked video stabilization, 1080p active video stabilization, and digital zoom up to 20x. Supported video formats include HEVC (H.265) and AVC (H.264).

The standout feature on the video front will likely be the Audio Magic Eraser which helps get rid of unwanted noises in recorded videos using AI. Stereo recording, speech enhancement, wind noise reduction, and audio zoom features are also highly anticipated.

Pricing, colors & offers

In the UK & EU, the Pixel 8 Pro will retail for £999/€1099. As for the US pricing, reports suggest that the smartphone will start at $899, which is the same as last year. However, to make this deal sweeter, Google will be throwing in a Pixel Watch 2 if you pre-order the smartphone. Google will be launching three color options for its Pixel 8 Pro: Obsidian (Black), Porcelain (White), and Bay (Blue).

Google is set to launch the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro on October 4. Leaks about the devices have been circulating for months, and a recently leaked promo video has also revealed some new camera features. Now, a new report suggests that the prices of both devices will increase in the US market.

According to a report by 9to5Google, the Pixel 8 will start at $699, while the Pixel 8 Pro will start at $999. This represents a $100 increase across the board, compared to the starting prices of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Previously, a report suggested that Google is also expected to increase the price of Pixel 8 series devices in Europe.

The price increase comes after Google also increased the price of the Pixel 7a by $50 compared to the Pixel 6a. However, in the case of the Pixel 7a, the price increase was justified by a number of significant hardware upgrades, such as a new camera sensor, a 90Hz display, and wireless charging.

It is not yet clear what hardware upgrades the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will offer. However, leaks suggest that the main camera sensor on both devices may not be changing. Other rumored upgrades include auto-focus on the selfie camera and the Pixel 8’s ultrawide sensor, as well as a new and improved Tensor G3 chip.

It is also worth noting that the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will still offer 128GB storage in the base model. In contrast, many other flagships, such as the Samsung Galaxy S23 and iPhone 15 Pro Max, now start at 256GB.

While the Pixel 8 currently appears to lack any major upgrades beyond some noteworthy software features, a recent report has piqued our curiosity about this upcoming smartphone.

As per a recent tweet by Revegnus, the new Tensor G3 chip inside the Pixel 8 series will incorporate FO-WLP (Fan-out wafer-level packaging) packaging, which is expected to reduce heat generation and increase power efficiency. Companies like Qualcomm and MediaTek already use this technology to improve efficiency, and graphics performance and help keep their chips cooler. This will be the first time that Samsung Foundaries, who make the Tensor G3 chips for Google will be implementing this tech.

Although the Tensor G3 may not set any performance records, its potential to run at lower temperatures compared to the G2 could become a significant selling point for the Pixel 8 series. This is especially relevant since the Pixel 7 has faced challenges in maintaining acceptable temperature levels during both demanding and routine tasks.

Google‘s new Pixel 8 series smartphones will be unveiled on October 4th. Before the big reveal, Google has shared a sneak peek in the form of their first official teaser.

In this preview, Google reveals the design of the Pixel 8 Pro and announces that pre-orders will kick off on October 4. Additionally, they confirm that the Porcelain color variant will be an option for this device.

Google has recently added official 3D renders of the Pixel 8 Pro to its newly launched Pixel Simulator website. These renders confirm the design and several components of the phone, including the SIM card tray, body temperature sensor, and color options for the Pixel 8 Pro. As is known, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are scheduled to launch globally on Oct. 4.

The Pixel Simulator page of the Pixel 8 Pro, which has been taken down, revealed that it will arrive in three colors: Licorice, Porcelain, and Sky. As previously seen in leaked renders, the Pixel 8 Pro has a flat display with a centred punch-hole and its rear panel has a raised camera bar, which houses a triple camera unit, an LED flash, a microphone, and a body temperature sensor.

The triple camera unit comprises a main snapper, an ultra-wide lens, and a telephoto camera that supports 5x zoom. The bottom side of the phone features a speaker, a microphone, and a USB-C port. On the top, it has a microphone and another speaker. The phone is equipped with NFC connectivity and a SIM card slot on the left edge.

Reports have revealed that the Pixel 8 Pro will be equipped with a 6.7-inch OLED LTPO panel that offers a Quad HD+ resolution of 1344 x 2992 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will come preloaded with Android 14 and pack a 4,950mAh battery with 27W wired and 23W wireless charging support. Pixel 8 and 8 Pro are launching on October 4 during the “Made by Google” event. Leaks and rumors have revealed all there is to know about the new smartphones, except for the price. That changes now, as a new report is here with European prices of the upcoming smartphone. It also shares the storage and color options of the two phones.

The Tech Outlook reports, based on info from tipster Paras Guglani, that the regular Pixel 8 will hit the European market in 128GB and 256GB storage options. Google might offer it in Hazel, Obsidian, Rose, and Mint shades. The 128GB model is priced at €874.25 with 23% VAT, while the 256GB version costs €949.30 with 23% VAT.

As per the outlet, the Pixel 8 Pro will be made available in 128GB, 256GB, or a generous 512GB storage option. You will be able to choose from 4 colors, including Bay, Obsidian, Porcelain, and Mint. In the European market, the base variant with 128GB of storage, inclusive of the 23% VAT, is slated to be priced at €1,235.72. The high-end 512GB model will be offered at a price point of €1,461.24 with the 23% VAT. Meanwhile, the 256GB storage variant will be available for €1,309.95, which includes 23% VAT.

Google is gearing up to launch Google Pixel 8, the successor to the Google Pixel 7. Numerous leaks have led us to believe that the Pixel 8 will launch near the end of October 2023. As the launch date draws near, a new leak has emerged online showcasing renders of Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

In the renders published by OnLeaks, Mishaal Rahman noticed that the SIM tray of the device was missing. Rahman mentions that if we look at the previous renders published by OnLeaks, for example, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 both showed the SIM card slots on the phone’s left side. This means the device might be eSIM only, at least in some regions. For those unaware, the iPhone is the primary device in the US market that uses eSIM. However, Rahman says we should take this information with a grain of salt as the renders could be missing details.

Interestingly in another post by Za_Raczke, we also found the SIM tray visible on the left side of the device.

Last month, Android Authority revealed key details about the display and camera specifications of the Google Pixel 8 series of smartphones. In a new report, the publication has revealed new information regarding the battery size and charging capabilities of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

Pixel 8 series battery size, charging speeds

Citing a Google insider as the source, the publication revealed that the Pixel 8 will pack a 4,480mAh battery and support 24W wired charging. In comparison, the Pixel 7 packs a smaller 4,270mAh battery with 20W wired charging.

The Pixel 8 Pro will arrive with a 4,950mAh battery and offer 27W wired charging. To recall, the predecessor model featured a 4,926mAh battery with 23W wired charging. Like the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, their successors will continue to offer 20W and 23W wireless charging, respectively.

The report also reveals that with the inclusion of the Broadcom BCM4398 chip, the Pixel 8 series will support Wi-Fi 7. The new-generation Wi-Fi connectivity offers faster speeds, stability, and low latency. Furthermore, the ultra-wideband will be available on the Pixel 8 Pro, but the Pixel 8 will not receive it.

Google Pixel devices suffer from limited availability compared to other manufacturers, leading consumers to either buy them from unofficial sources at higher prices or import them without warranty or support. Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro flagship smartphones are expected to go official in October, but ahead of the official launch, we expect the company to showcase the devices at the Google I/O if the company continues to do what it did last year.

At the Google I/O, apart from teasing the Pixel 8 lineup, the search engine giant is also set to launch a few hardware products, including the Pixel 7a, the much-anticipated Pixel Fold foldable smartphone, and the Pixel Tablet.

When it comes to their smartphones, Google is quite bad at keeping secrets. The upcoming Pixel 7a recently emerged on eBay revealing its design, while popular tipster OnLeaks revealed 5K renders of the upcoming Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro. It is worth noting that Google will likely be launching the Pixel 8 series in Autumn. Considering we are still in Spring, there is quite some time left in the official announcement.

Now, OnLeaks has shared a close-up renders of both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, comparing their designs to the Pixel 7 series devices. Upon comparison of photos, it is evident that the Pixel 8 has a wider corner radius than the Pixel 7, resulting in a rounder appearance that is closer to the Pixel 5. Although slightly thicker at 0.2mm, the Pixel 8 has a smaller overall footprint of 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9mm compared to the Pixel 7 at 155.6 x 73.2 x 8.7mm.

Similarly, the Pixel 8 Pro also boasts a more prominent corner radius than its predecessor, the Pixel 7 Pro. However, the curved display of the Pixel 7 Pro creates an illusion of thinner display bezels, while also contributing to a thinner frame. It is worth noting that both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are expected to utilize the Tensor G3, which has been subject to separate leaks.

There is speculation that the Pixel 8 series will be equipped with staggered HDR technology, enabling the capture of both short and long exposure scenes simultaneously. Additionally, the Pro model is rumored to feature an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.
