As per the report, the Google Pixel Buds Pro will get two new features. The audio experience is expected to be improved with the introduction of Clear Calling. Pixel Buds Pro finally get the promised spatial audio with head tracking update

Oğuz Çakır — Wed, 08 Mar 2023 09:54:26 +0000

We’re used to hearing bad news about Google Pixel products. It seems like every week, Gizmochina readers encounter interesting software and hardware problems – especially with the Pixel 7 series. But this time, we have some good news to share: the Pixel Buds Pro have finally received the promised spatial audio with head tracking update. Here are all the details…

Pixel Buds Pro finally get the promised spatial audio with head tracking update

Good news for Pixel Buds Pro owners as Google has finally released the much-awaited Spatial Audio with Head Tracking update. This firmware update (version 4.30) brings in several new features such as a 5-band EQ, left and right balance control, and bug fixes, improving the previous version (3.14).

To help users understand how to use this new feature, Google has published an instructional video on its YouTube channel. However, this feature is only available on newer non-A-series Pixel devices like the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro. Unfortunately, Pixel 6a owners won’t be able to access this update.

Google has also updated the Pixel Buds Help page with a guide on how to use this feature, its benefits, and the apps where it’s available. As of now, the feature is only available on HBO Max and Netflix Premium, but it’s expected to work with other streaming apps that support movies and shows with 5.1 surround sound or higher.

The Spatial Audio feature creates an immersive audio experience that makes the content sound more realistic, and with Pixel Buds Pro, it creates a multi-speaker effect, similar to a surround sound setup, making it ideal for movies and TV shows. It may take a few days for the update to be available to all Pixel Buds Pro owners.

Once the update is installed, users can easily enable the feature by going to the “Spatial Audio” section in the Pixel Buds app. From there, they can enable toggles for Spatial Audio and Head Tracking and hear the difference with the demo. You can also watch this video on the subject.

Although, it is still better late than never and we finally have a software upgrade to bring us the bare minimum on sound profile customization. As per official notes, the update is “slowly rolling out.” In other words, the update is being rolled out in a staggered manner to ensure that there is no major security flaw.

But, users can expect to receive the update sometime within a week. To get the version 3.14 update, make sure that the Pixel Buds app on your partner smartphone is version 1.0.474476083 or newer. Once you’ve got the update, go to device details on Bluetooth settings > Sound > Custom Equalizer. This will let you customize your sound and even select between six presets tuned by Google’s own audio engineers.

Users are offered five band custom EQ to customize tunes as per their requirements. Furthermore, the presets help offer a good setting if one doesn’t wish to bother with making changes to the sound profile manually. Lastly, the update even brings some “general bug fixes and improvements”.

Google Pixel Buds Pro may launch soon, with Spatial Audio support

Sean — Thu, 05 May 2022 06:43:26 +0000

Back in 2020, Google had launched the Pixel Buds, which were its first truly wireless earbuds. And now, a new report has revealed that a Pro model is in the works and could be launching soon.

Pixel Buds A

For those unaware, this will be the third TWS earbuds entry from the Search Engine giant and follows after the relatively more affordable Pixel Buds A Series. However, it seems that the brand is looking to compete with market giants like Apple and Sony in the segment with a new Pixel Buds Pro. The news arrives from known tipster Jon Prosser who stated that Google is gearing up to launch the new Pixel Buds Pro.

According to the Prosser, the new wireless earphones will be launching soon and will be available in multiple color options. This includes four color models, namely Real Red, Carbon, Limoncello, Fog. Unfortunately, apart from this information, the tipster did not reveal any other details regarding this product. Although, Mishaal Rahman further added to Prosser’s tweet with some more details regarding the Pixel Buds Pro. Apparently, the TWS earbuds may come with spatial audio and head tracking support.

This would absolutely not surprise me given Google's work on spatial audio + head tracking support in Android 13, especially their secrecy around the latter. Plus, there's BLE Audio support in Android now too. https://t.co/yJHcKCF4dy

— Mishaal Rahman (@MishaalRahman) May 3, 2022

These two features was apparently previously hinted in some of the codes for Android 13. With Android also supporting Bluetooth Low Energy audio support, the Pixel Buds Pro could possibly also support this feature as well. Keep in mind that all of these details are still unconfirmed and Google has yet to confirm the existence of such a gadget as well. So stick around for more updates.
