The Search Engine giant announced earlier this week that it is bringing a couple of new features to the original Pixel Watch. There’s a bunch of new functionalities being added, so let’s have a look:

• Pace Training: As the name suggests, this feature is a new workout option for users. The Pace Training allows Pixel Watch users to set a goal pace for their workout. This helps users track whether they are keeping up with their target pace. Pairing the Watch with the Pixel Buds Pro enables haptic and voice cues as well.
• Heart Zone Training: This functionality is another health related feature. It is now available to the first Pixel Watch and lets you monitor the time spent on personal heart zones. The feature lets you optimize and receive tips for your exercise sessions, which is based on resting heart rate and personal fitness levels. Again, haptic and voice alerts helps you track shift from one heart rate zone to another.

• Fitbit Relax App: The new update adds the Fitbit Relax app to the first gen Pixel Watch. So now, users gain access to methods like guided breathing exercises to ease their stress and calm their minds.
• Public Transit Options: The Pixel Watch 1 now offers directions to the public transit options. This feature utilizes Google Maps on the WearOS to offer directions to different public transit options that are available to the user. You can even expect to find real time departure time, compass enabled map view, and multiple options for travel.

Google released its Pixel Watch smartwatch last year, and it’s been a popular choice for Android users. But there’s one big downside: if your Pixel Watch screen breaks, Google can’t officially repair it. Google has confirmed that the Pixel Watch display is not repairable. This means that if you accidentally damage your screen, you’ll need to replace the entire device.

Google’s refusal to repair cracked Pixel Watch screens has been met with widespread criticism, with users taking to Reddit and the Google support page to complain.

TheVerge obtained a copy of a conversation between a customer and Google support, in which the customer was told that the company “doesn’t have any repair centers or service centers” for the Pixel Watch. Google’s hardware warranty page also specifies that cracked screens are not covered.

Moreover, a spokesperson for Google confirmed to TheVerge that the company has no repair option for the Pixel Watch at this time. The spokesperson explained:

Google does not officially sell replacement screens for the Pixel Watch, and third-party options are also unavailable. Additionally, the Pixel Watch’s limited warranty does not cover damage caused by accidental drops or strikes.

This lack of repairability has frustrated many Pixel Watch owners, who have taken to social media to complain about broken screens and Google’s inability to help.

“I dropped my Pixel Watch and the screen cracked,” one Redditor wrote. “I contacted Google support and they said they couldn’t help me.”

Google partners with iFixit for Pixel repairs, and iFixit has even published a guide on how to replace a cracked Pixel Watch screen. However, iFixit does not sell replacement screens, so Pixel Watch owners would have to buy a used Pixel Watch for a replacement part.

This is a major problem for Pixel Watch owners, as the device features a domed glass display that is more prone to cracking than other smartwatches. Thus, Google must address this repairability issue at any conditions.

Google launched the Pixel Watch in October last year. Now, the search giant’s first-ever smartwatch is gaining a vital feature that should have been available since its launch. The feature is none other than the SpO2 measurement that is commonly found in most wearable devices today. Google has finally caught up to its competitors by activating it. 

Pixel Watch now gets SpO2 measurement

A few Pixel Watch users took to Reddit to share images of the dedicated oxygen saturation card. It appears below the Sleep Score in the smartwatch’s Fitbit Today app and provides a percentage for the user’s ‘last sleep session’. Tapping on it reveals an additional explanation on what the score means. The Pixel Watch is already equipped with a sensor to measure SpO2 levels. However, the feature was not available probably due to the lack of FDA approval. A SpO2 sensor is capable of monitoring oxygen levels in the blood. 

Prior to the latest feature on the Pixel Watch, users had to measure the estimated oxygen variation which indirectly measures the changes in blood oxygen saturation levels. However, a SpO2 sensor is a more reliable measurement of oxygen levels than EOV. 

The rollout of the SpO2 measurement on Pixel Watch appears to be slow with only a small number of people receiving the functionality. But it’s great news for users since they are getting a vital feature. At the moment, it’s unclear how the function is rolling out but it should be available soon for everybody.

Google had launched Pixel Watch, which was its first ever smartwatch model back in October 2022. It has received various updates that have improved its performance since its launch, but it was only recently found that the device also features a heat protection functionality that is quite similar to the one found in Pixel smartphones.

Google Pixel Watch can protect itself from overheating

As per official notes, the Pixel Watch was built to optimally function in ambient temperature range of around 0°C and 35°C and should be kept in ambient temperatures between -20°C and 45°C. Furthermore, the Search Engine giant also warns against exposing the smartwatch to temperatures that exceed 45°C as it “may damage the product, overheat the battery, or pose a risk of fire.”

However, it seems that if there are cases where the device is left in an area with high temperature, the Pixel Watch seems to have built in measures for added protection. This feature was found after a Pixel Watch owner left his smartwatch in his car and it turned off automatically when it got too hot. The Pixel Watch later notified the user that the “Watch was too warm” from system settings and explained that “It turned off to cool down and is now running normally.”

This feature is quite similar to the functionality offered in Pixel series of smartphones. For those unaware, the smartphones from Google will also “automatically try to cool down” by slowing down, or even take steps like turning off the camera, flashlight, WiFi, mobile data, and WiFi as well. But as a last ditch effort, it would even recommend a cool down by turning off the device and restarting it.

Google launched its first smartwatch last year, named Pixel Watch. The company is now working on its successor, Pixel Watch 2, which is expected to go official in the coming months.

In the latest development, a new report from 9to5Google claims that the Google Pixel Watch 2 will come with significantly better battery life than its predecessor. With longer battery life, users will be able to wear the device for longer periods without having to worry about running out of power.

The report, which cites sources familiar with the matter, claims that the upcoming Google Pixel Watch 2 can last for over a day with the always-on display enabled. If some battery-saving features are enabled, then the device could last for up to two days. This indicates a major improvement given that the original model struggled to last for a day, that too with the always-on display feature disabled.

There are a few factors that help with the battery life of the upcoming Google smartwatch, including a new processor which will be more power efficient and a larger capacity battery. Pixel Watch 2 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip, which is claimed to be 20% more power efficient than the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ found in the Pixel Watch.

It is also said to have more health sensors embedded into the device, meaning more health-related features. The Google Pixel Watch 2 is also expected to be the first device to run Wear OS 4, an operating system from Google made especially for smartwatches. While the exact launch date is unknown, the device is expected to go official in the fall of this year.

Google is all set to launch its next-generation Pixel 7 series flagship smartphones and the brand’s first smartwatch under the Pixel brand, dubbed as Pixel Watch.

The unboxing was shared on the popular platform, Reddit. It was shared by a user with the handle “Suckmyn00dle.” This Redditor apparently managed to get his hands on a Pixel Watch before the smartwatch starts its commercial shipment. So now, we have an unofficial but complete look at the upcoming wearable ahead of the Made by Google event later this week.

Looking at the online post, the Redditor stated that he did unbox the smartwatch but did not turn it on as he didn’t want to get caught. In other words, it is clear that the user is not supposed to have the Pixel Watch, although, we have no idea how he got his hands on the new device. Notably, he also took pictures of the smartwatch with his Pixel 6 smartphone. During the unboxing, he noted that the retail box carries the Pixel Watch, an Active band, and the USB type C magnetic charge case.

Furthermore, the small band fits wrists around 130 to 175mm while the large band is compatible with wrists that measure around 165 and 210mm. The Pixel Watch model that was unboxed was the “Polished Silver Stainless Steel” variant with the “Charcoal Active band.” The box also states that the Pixel Watch supports WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS. This new smartwatch will also run on Wear OS 3.5 and sports a 1.18 inch display and is powered by an Exynos 9118 chip.

Over the last couple of weeks, the design of the Pixel Watch has been completely revealed. The upcoming smartwatch from the Search engine giant will have a circular display panel, along with a digital crown on the right side. During the I/O event, we can see the Pixel Watch will arrive in at least one silver option, although, there are also rumors for a black and gold color variant.

The smartwatch appears to have a minimalistic design alongside interchangeable bands that would offer the users more customization. The listing also says that the wearable will be released on October 13, which could mean that the smartwatch will be available to purchase a lot sooner than what was previously rumored.

Other than the pricing & availability, the Pixel Watch features have also been revealed by the listing, according to which the smartwatch will debut with a free Fitbit Premium subscription for six months. It will feature sensors to monitor sleep, heart rate, and rhythm, as well as EKG.

Google Pixel 7 series specs (expected)

The Pixel 7 series will resemble the Pixel 6 series in appearance. The Pixel 7 will be equipped with dual cameras, while the Pixel 7 Pro will be outfitted with triple cameras. The phones are believed to have a 50MP main camera (Samsung GN1) and a 13MP ultrawide camera (Sony IMX38). A 48MP telephoto camera will also be included with the 7 Pro (Samsung GM1). The front camera on both models is expected to have a 10.87MP (Samsung 3J1) sensor.

The Pixel 7 will feature a 6.4-inch 90Hz OLED panel, while the Pixel 7 Pro will feature a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED display. The two phones will also have the latest Google Tensor processor, which will be revealed soon. In terms of software, we can expect both devices to come with Android 13.0.

The upcoming Pixel Watch on the other hand will run on Wear OS that will support Google Assistant, Google Maps, and other Google services and smart notifications. The device is also expected to be powered by a 300mAh battery pack, which may last for one full day.

Google is long rumored to be working on a new Pixel Watch that will compete in the smartwatch market. Now, a new report has revealed that the smart wearable will launch alongside the Pixel 7 series and even revealed its possible price tag as well.

The news arrives from a 9To5Google report, who revealed the expected pricing of the upcoming Pixel Watch for the US market. Looking at the report, it appears that the Pixel Watch will be launched in two variants, which includes a Bluetooth only and LTE version. Apparently, the new Pixel Watch will cost somewhere around 399 US Dollars in the US, although, this is the price tag for the LTE enabled version of the smartwatch.

In other words, the pricing for the Bluetooth only model is unknown, but it will likely be slightly more affordable than the LTE model. For comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 5 starts from 329 US Dollars for the LTE version, while the higher end Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has a price tag of 499 US Dollars. Similarly, the Apple Watch Series 7 LTE version has a price tag of 499 US Dollars for its cellular enabled variant.

This basically means that the Pixel Watch will compete against the likes of high end smartwatches from other established brands. The Google Pixel Watch has been making the rounds online, with multiple reports revealing slight tidbits of information regarding the upcoming smartwatch. Now, a more reliable source has revealed some interesting details regarding the battery life of the Pixel Watch.

According to a 9To5Google report, the battery details of the Pixel Watch was revealed in the Fitbit app for Android. Digging around in the app, references to the search engine giant’s new smartwatch was found on the application. The app states that “You’ll need at least 30% charge to track a full night’s sleep”. Typically, eight hours of sleep is the commended standard for sleep duration, so 30 percent of the smartwatch’s battery life being required to cover this duration means that the Pixel Watch will have a total battery life of around 24 hours.

In other words, the Pixel Watch will have a battery life similar to that of the Apple Watch and is not competing with some of the top smartwatches in the market that offer longer battery life. For those unaware, Google owns Fitbit, although, its not clear what kind of support the Fitbit app will bring for the upcoming Pixel Watch since there has been rumors regarding the company working on a dedicated Pixel Watch app.

As of right now, the 24 hour battery life is quite lackluster in the smart wearable market. It is the bare minimum that a company could offer that would seem practical in daily use. Furthermore, charging the product overnight or even during the day would make it even less appealing in the market. After several weeks of extended hype, Google has finally announced the release of the Pixel Watch. We have been serenaded for several weeks with leaks and photos of the Pixel Watch. The report added that these listings might be the SKUs for the upcoming Pixel Watch, which also hints that its announcement is just around the corner.

As per the Bluetooth SIG listing, the device name is mentioned as the “WearOS Bluetooth Host Subsystem,” which further hints at it actually being the Pixel Watch. As of right now, finer details regarding the upcoming Pixel Watch is still at large, although, the previously leaked live images showcased the device with a circular display that has minimal bezels. Furthermore, it is expected to arrive in two color options, including a Black and Silver model, which will launch along with 20 watchbands as well.

The Reddit user tagtech414 who provided the wrist pictures of the alleged Pixel Watch has previously shared images of the Pixel Watch. The real identity of the tipster remains shrouded but he could possibly be connected with the Google Pixel Watch project. The tipster is also yet to show us a picture of the device switched on for us to view the display. The latest pictures are the first to show the device strapped to a wrist. The tipster says the strap of the Pixel Watch seems difficult to connect for the first time. He however says that the connection feels solid after it is strapped. Redditor tagtech414 also says that the device is very comfortable on the wrists.

A new report coming from ShrimpApplePro claims to have heard about another model of the smartwatch named Pixel Watch Fit by Google employees, but it’s not clear whether it’s the same as the Pixel Watch.

As the Google Pixel Watch name has already been trademarked by the company, it’s safe to assume the upcoming smartwatch from the brand to be called Pixel Watch. The report adds that the Pixel Watch Fit could have a difference in the design.

It is said that the Fit model will have very thick bezels around the display, unlike the standard model which is expected to feature an almost bezel-less screen. As for the build, unlike the stainless steel body of the standard model, the Fit model is said to have an aluminum body design. There’s also a Special Black Version rumored to get launched.

The upcoming smartwatches from the technology giant are expected to go official next month during the Google I/O annual developers conference. Google will be holding the I/O 2022 event in May. Apart from sharing information on its new products, the search engine giant is speculated to showcase new hardware such as the Pixel 6a mid-range phone and its first-ever smartphone – the Pixel Watch.  Recent reports have revealed key information on the smartwatch’s key specifications and design. A new report by Android Central reportedly gives a good look at the final design of the Pixel Watch.

The report claims that a Google Pixel Watch was left and found in a restaurant in the UK. The anonymous source who found the watch has claimed that it could be “a testing model for the internal Pixel team.”

The alleged Pixel Watch (codenamed as Rohan) looks identical to the leaked renders that were seen in the past. The smartwatch has a minimalist design with super-slim bezels. Previous reports have claimed that Google’s smartwatch will be equipped with at least two hidden buttons. In the image below, one of those buttons can be seen placed beside the crown.

The blue-colored strap appears to be a proprietary band designed for the Pixel Watch, which indicates it may not allow users to swap out watch bands. It is likely that the search engine giant may offer the strap in more colors. It appears that the smartwatch can be charged by connecting the charger to its back. The device may carry support for wireless charging. The report claims that no charger was found with the watch.

As far as the design is concerned, the source has said that the bottom part of the smartwatch has a metallic appearance, but it seems to be coated with glass. When the watch was turned on, It only showed a boot logo, which suggests that there is no OS installed on the device. Rumors have it that it will come preloaded with Wear OS 3.1, which Google has co-developed with Samsung.

But on closer inspection of the render, we can see that there is a counter or step tracking and heart rate monitoring as well. Although, a notable inclusion is the built in integration for Fitbit. A new report coming from Jon Prosser claims that the technology giant could launch the Pixel 6a smartphone on 28th July. He says that the device could be officially announced at the upcoming Google I/O in May but the launch in many regions has been pushed.

The Google Pixel 6a has reportedly been codenamed “Bluejay” and is said to become in three color options — Black, White, and Green. We expect to know more information about the device’s pricing and availability in the coming weeks or months.

Coming to the specifications, previous leaks have indicated that the smartphone will feature a 6.2-inch OLED display and will feature an under-display fingerprint sensor. Similar to the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, this one too will be powered by the Google Tensor chipset and have 128GB of internal storage.

In the camera department, there will be a 12.2-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor and a 12-megapixel Sony IMX355 ultra-wide angle lens. The front-facing camera on the device will be housed inside a punch-hole cutout.

The report also reveals that the next-generation Google Pixel 7 series smartphones could get launched in October this year, along with the company’s own Pixel Watch. It is being speculated that the Pixel Watch could be teased at the Google I/O event.

While we already know that Google is planning on launching a Pixel 6a smartphone and its first smartwatch, the Pixel Watch soon, it appears that the company is delaying the release of both upcoming products.

Previously, we had reported on the Search Engine giant’s new handset and smartwatch launch being imminent after they were listed on online carriers. But now, it seems that the brand’s budget smartphone has been delayed to July 2022. On the other hand, the Pixel Watch has also been delayed, and will reportedly launch in May. The news arrives from Jon Prosser who also claimed that the smartwatch might get even further delayed as well.

In other words, we are still a couple of months away from a Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch launch. The company’s first smartwatch was rumored to be unveiled on 26th May 2022, but its possible that it may launch along with the affordable new Pixel phone. Prosser claims that the primary reason for the delay of the two products is the ongoing chip shortage, which has already affected numerous industries across the globe, even fellow smartphone brands.

Furthermore, with its current generation of smartphones, Google is now shipping its Pixel devices with its proprietary Tensor chips. As of right now, the Pixel 6a is rumored to also feature the same Tensor GS101 SoC that is also found on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The Google Pixel Watch could be released this year as the very first smartwatch from the company. The gadget has already been leaked to run Wear OS with a number of exclusive features that won’t be available on other Wear OS devices. And as if that’s not enough, it will also reportedly come with a “skin interface,” allowing gestures on the skin to control the watch.

The information comes from LetsGoDigital (via PhoneArena) which recently uncovered a mid-2020 patent filing from Google made to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) called “Skin interface for Wearables: Sensor fusion to improve signal quality.”

Using the technology, Pixel Watch users will be able to provide gesture inputs simply by tapping or running their fingers on the skin surrounding the device. Something similar is also possible for the Google Pixel Buds, with skin inputs controlling the music track or volume levels.

For the Pixel Watch, the wrist, forearm, or the back of the hand would be the perfect place to make swipe or tap gestures. While for the earbuds, the skin in front of the ear could be the perfect spot.

The gestures work by the gadget registering the “mechanical wave” they create using an accelerometer and other sensors. Google likes to call the tech “Sensor Fusion.”

As for when the technology will be making its way to the Pixel Watch or the Pixel Buds, there is no information as of yet but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled so stay tuned. A Pixel Watch launch is expected quite soon, though, considering it has already made an appearance on an inventory system.

Google is apparently gearing up to launch its highly awaiting Pixel Watch and Pixel 6a smartphone soon. Both products have recently been spotted on an unnamed US carrier’s inventory system, which hint at a near launch.

The news arrives from sources that told AndroidPolice that the Search Engine giant’s upcoming mid range smartphone was spotted on an inventory system. This handset wasn’t alone, as the brand’s Pixel Watch was also reportedly listed in the database. For those unaware, the Pixel Watch is rumored to bear the codename “Rohan” and is listed in multiple color variants, namely gray, black, and gold. Notably, the database also showcases that the Pixel Watch will arrive with a 32GB of internal storage.

Furthermore, the sources added that the Pixel Watch was listed on a carrier that does not sell non cellular smartwatches. Meaning, the company’s first smartwatch would likely come with eSIM connectivity. In the inventory listing, the Pixel 6a can be spotted with the previously rumored codename “Bluejay.” The handset will apparently launch in a black, white, and green color options, with all three models receiving 128GB of internal storage.

Although the carrier’s database revealed these details regarding the upcoming products, it did not share any detail regarding their pricing. Similarly, there is no information related to the new Google devices launch date either. The Google Pixel Watch could be launched as early as May 26th, according to a trusted tipster. The company’s first smartwatch offering has been making rounds on the internet for a while now but there hasn’t been any official word on it yet. This latest piece of info, though, shows that the watch has neared the final stages of its development.

The information comes from Jon Prosser who with the same tweet says that this is the very first time “they’ve seen a set date on the device behind the scenes.” Prosser also warns that Google is known for pushing back dates but if it does, he’ll know and likely inform all about it.

The leaked launch date appears to correspond with Google’s typical dates for its I/O developer conference and it seems that the introduction of the Pixel Watch will be taking place at the event.

Coming to the smartwatch itself, the Google Pixel Watch could be codenamed “rohan” and will likely be going up against the likes of the Apple Watch. Artistic renders have revealed that the device will have a round-shaped dial with extremely slim bezels and will come in a variety of colors.

A report from last month had revealed that the Google Pixel Watch will likely be powered by a custom-made SoC built by Samsung. Some watch faces that could be featured on the device have been leaked as well and they look to be following a Material You-inspired design language — minimal yet colorful.

Google has a lineup of smartphones under its Pixel brand and now the technology giant is gearing up to enter the smart wearables market as the company is rumored to soon launch a Pixel-branded smartwatch.

Ahead of the official announcement from Google, some details about the Pixel Watch have surfaced online. A report from 9to5Google has found that the device, running Wear OS, will come with some exclusive features.

The latest version of the Google app has a “PIXEL_EXPERIENCE_WATCH” tag which hints that the Pixel Watch will come with some features that won’t be available on other Wear OS devices, at least for some time.

For those who are unaware, Google uses the tag “PIXEL_EXPERIENCE” or a variation of it for rolling out exclusive features that are not available for other devices in the market. For instance, there’s “PIXEL_EXPERIENCE_2021” for the Pixel 6 series phones.

Coming back to the features, it is speculated that the Pixel Watch will come with a next-generation Assistant. It is expected to be built into the watch and have support for on-device processing instead of relying on the cloud. This should result in much faster operations and make the device stand out from others.

Recently, the watch faces for the upcoming smartwatch were leaked online and will come running the Wear OS 3 which is a new operating system created with the merger of Google’s Android-based Wear OS and Samsung’s Tizen OS.

If the leaks are to be believed, then the upcoming Google Pixel Watch will come powered by the Samsung Exynos processor similar to the Exynos W920 that the South Korean giant is using on its own Galaxy Watch4 series.

The device is expected to get launched sometime in Spring 2022 and could be priced above $300. To know more about the device, we will have to wait for a few more weeks or months for more details to surface online.

After making its own Pixel-branded smartphones for years, Google is now finally gearing up to launch its own smartwatch in the market, dubbed Pixel Watch. Ahead of the launch, many details about the upcoming device have surfaced online.

Now, it appears that more details about the Pixel Watch have been revealed, including the watchfaces through the Android Studio emulator image that Google published earlier this year for Wear OS 3.0.

Currently, the emulator in Android Studio is the only way to experience what the stock version of Wear OS 3 will be like on future watches. The 9to5Google team found a video within the emulator that shows a variety of watch faces that will be available on an upcoming Wear OS device.

About 10 different watchfaces have been revealed, including one that shows Fitbit logo. Two of these watchfaces were also seen on the renders of the Pixel Watch. This further indicates that the leaked watchfaces will make their way to the actual smartwatch and are not just for demo purposes.

Based on the previous leaks, the upcoming Pixel Watch will have a minimal bezel and a slight curve and feature a physical button. It is expected to come powered by a custom-made SoC that will be manufactured by Samsung using the 5nm process.

It will be running the latest Wear OS 3.0 as the operating system which is a merged version of the Wear OS based on Android and Samsung’s Tizen OS. The South Korean giant’s Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic were the first devices to run this new version of the wearable operating system.

While we have already seen leaked renders of the Google Pixel Watch, we now have images of yet to released marketing images of the upcoming wearable. A new report has even revealed some interesting details about the company’s smartwatch as well.

In a new YouTube video from Front Page Tech, the search engine giant’s poster images for the Pixel Watch were revealed. The video claims that these are official marketing assets that will be seen online soon, which Jon Prosser allegedly captured from a leaked video. Looking at these images, we can tell that the design is in line with the leaked renders we had covered earlier this year. The smartwatch appears to have negligible bezel and a slight curve, with the physical button also being visible.

Furthermore, one of the images even showcase the Pixel Watch using Google Maps. On the other hand, Max Weinbach has separately reported that this smartwatch will feature a custom made SoC (System on Chip) that will be built by the South Korean company, Samsung. We had also reported on the wearable featuring a custom chipset that is based on the 5nm process. Now, the new information claims that the chip in question will be made by Samsung.

In other words, the new chipset for the upcoming smartwatch might even be a customized version of the Exynos W920, which is the chip that powers the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic. Unfortunately, this information is still not official, so take it with a pinch of salt for now. The Pixel Watch is also expected to launch sometime next year, so stay tuned for more updates as well.

Google will unveil its latest flagship smartphones, the Pixel 4 lineup at its upcoming “Made By Google” event which is scheduled for the 15th of October. At the same event, the company will also lift covers from the long-awaited Pixel Watch and a new notebook claims a report published by Asia Nikkei.

Last year, there were rumours that Google would introduce its first smartwatch, but that clearly did not happen as such a device was nowhere to be found at 2018 Made by Google event. Following the event, a report surfaced that stated Google is not satisfied with WearOS, therefore, the launch of the alleged Pixel Watch did not take place.

Earlier this year, the company spent $40 million to acquire an intellectual property from Fossil which is referred to as “innovative” smartwatch. At that time, a Fossil executive said that the intellectual property bought by Google is “based on something out of our timeline, it’s new to the market technology and we think it’s a product that has features and benefits that aren’t in the category today.”

In the month of September, it was revealed that the IP purchased by Google was linked to a hybrid smartwatch i.e a timepiece that resembles a conventional watch but has smart features. It was dubbed di-ana which is derived from the words di-gital and an-alog. While Google had shelled out a serious sum of money to acquire this IP, it did not appear to be a worthy purchase. With that being said, it is assumed that Google wanted to get hold of the 20 engineers from Fossil which were a part of the deal.

Noteworthy, the USPTO had published a smartwatch patent in the month of April, this year which was assigned to Google. The patent exhibits a “quick swap feature” which, as the name suggests, will allow device owners to quickly replace the wrist straps on their smartwatch.

To wrap things up, the claim of Google unveiling its first Pixel Watch at 2019 Made By Google seem highly likely. However, we will have to wait until the event which is scheduled for next Tuesday, in order to verify whether these claims turn out real or not.
