The Honor V40‘s launch is just around the corner. While the device was expected to arrive on 18th January 2021, its launch has since been delayed to January 22. Now, the company has teased one of its features that will help improve the mobile gaming experience on the new smartphone.

Earlier today, the Chinese tech giant shared a post on its official Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website. In this social media post, the company teased the Honor V40’s new graphics acceleration engine, dubbed the GPU Turbo X. Honor even shared a short video teaser, which demonstrated the graphics acceleration feature that will arrive in the upcoming device. At the moment, the finer details of how this engine works are currently unknown, but we can expect it to be a form of software optimization, which improves paired with slight GPU overclocking to squeeze performance from its chip.

According to rumors, the Honor V40 is expected to feature a MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus 5G chipset. Other reported features include a 6.72-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen that offers a 120Hz refresh rate and a 300Hz touch sampling rate. For photography, the Honor V40 could be sporting a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (macro) rear camera setup and a 32-megapixel + 16-megapixel duals selfie camera system.

The device is also rumored to be powered by a large 4,000mAh battery pack that supports up to 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. On the front, the Honor V40 is said to also sport an in display fingerprint scanner for biometric security. Unfortunately, we will have to wait for the 22nd January 2021 launch conference to confirm these specifications so stay tuned for more updates and the release date.

Last year, Huawei introduced GPU Turbo technology, a software-based feature which energizes gaming performance on several Huawei and Honor smartphones. It offers a smoother gaming experience and improved battery performance while gaming.

Since its launch in June last year, the feature has been updated a couple of times for performance improvements and the inclusion of more titles. And now, the company has announced the third iteration of the GPU Turbo mode with support for 19 Android games.

The third generation of GPU Turbo comes as part of Huawei’s latest firmware version i.e. EMUI 9.1 which is based on Android 9 Pie operating system and was released with the company’s latest flagship smartphones — Huawei P30 and P30 Pro.

The company claims that GPU Turbo 3.0 cuts down on SoC power consumption by 10 percent and optimizes “the underlying system performance to provide a continuous gaming experience.” Currently, the GPU Turbo 3.0 is exclusively available on the P30 and P30 Pro smartphones, it will be rolling out to other Huawei as well as Honor smartphones with the EMUI 9.1 update soon.

Along with system optimization, it also comes with a number of Android game titles which can utilize GPU Turbo. The list of supports games have now been increased from 6 to 25, which includes Fortnite, Knives Out, Battle Bay, Crazy Taxi, Real Racing 3, Into the Dead 2, NBA 2K19, Dragon Nest M, Duel Links, PES2019, DRAGON BALL LEGENDS, FIFA Mobile, Free Fire, Minecraft, Helix, Plants vs. Zombie Heroes, Subway Surfers, Brawl Stars, Speed Drifters.

Gone are the days when flagships got all the attention. Now is the age of the upper mid-rangers and in some ways, this special category of smartphones are getting pretty solid attention. Remember the world’s first in screen (infinity O) camera smartphone from Samsung which was actually a mid-range Galaxy device? Huawei is going for a similar strategy and the newly launched Huawei Nova 4 is interesting in a lot of aspects. First, it joins the Galaxy A8S by featuring an in-screen front-facing camera, which allowed the company to make the phone nearly full screen. But Huawei claims it takes things to the next level by using the world’s smallest camera setup up front.

Huawei has added the 25MP front on the top left corner of the phone which the company claims will least interfere with the app area. The Nova 4 hides the ambient light sensor inside and uses a micro-slot earpiece to maximize the screen real estate. The company adds that the front camera on the phone is the smallest module in the mobile industry right now. It measures just 3.5mm and ensures that the overall diameter of the front camera opening is just 4.5mm, which is less as compared to competitor offerings with over 6.5mm+ diameter slits.

The front design is definitely the highlight of the Nova 4. However, even at the back, the company has ensured that fans get a lot of color options. The phone comes in special Red, White (similar to P20 Pro’s color variant), and Aurora Blue color options. Apart from this, there’s a basic black color as well.

Huawei Nova 4 Camera Specs

The phone features three camera sensors at the back, one wide-angle sensor, a primary sensor in the middle and a third small sensor for bokeh effect. There are two camera configurations available, one with a standard 20MP primary camera and a higher end model with the worlds largest 48MP (IMX586) smartphone camera sensor from Sony. We have been hearing a couple of manufacturers working on this 48MP sensor including Xiaomi, but Nova 4 is the first phone to be equipped with this super-high-resolution sensor. The upcoming Honor V20 is also going to feature the same sensor, but we are still waiting for its official launch.

The standard model comes in the following camera configuration.

• Top Sensor — 16MP 117 degrees Wide-Angle f/2.2
• Middle Sensor — 20MP Primary f/1.8
• Bottom Sensor — 2MP for Bokeh f/2.4

The camera setup comes with support for HDR Pro, beauty mode, 960 fps slo-mo video recording, a closed-loop motor for super fast focus, EIS, 3D Emojis, and scene + object recognition. So, pretty much what you expect from a 2018 Huawei smartphone! It’s clear that the company is positioning the Nova 4 as a very strong camera smartphone.

Huawei Nova 4 Specs

The phone comes with last year’s Kirin 970 (that’s where the company’s cut costs) with up 8GB of RAM configuration. There are other standard features such as GPU Turbo for flawless gaming experience too. The display up front is a 6.4-inch panel with 2310 x 1080p resolution and takes the screen to body ratio up to 86.3%, a solid step up from the 83% on the Nova 3 model with a notch.

While the company didn’t officially reveal the battery capacity at the event, we know the Nova 4 features a 3750 mAh battery with 9V 2A fast charging. It even supports dual standby dual 4G VoLTE connection. Further, it comes with EMUI 9.0.1 out of the box based on Android Pie.

Huawei Nova 4 Price & Availability

The Nova 4 with 8+128GB storage and 20MP camera is priced at 3099 Yuan ($450), while the 8+128GB variant with the large 48MP resolution camera is priced at 3399 Yuan ($493)! There are other variants too, but Huawei hasn’t revealed any further pricing details yet.

Pre-sale starts today at 4.08PM CST and the phone will go on sale on December 27 at 10.08AM in China.

Huawei announced the new GPU Turbo technology alongside the Honor Play and it is slowly making its way to several of its handsets, including the ones from its sub-brand Honor. According to the roadmap released by the Chinese company after the announcement, the Honor View 10 should have received the new technology in September, and indeed the company respected the roadmap.

In these hours, the flagship is getting the update in Italy, according to reports, and it should soon be available in the rest of the world. The update comes through an OTA notification, so everyone who owns a unit of this device can install it. If you got the device and you want to try to force the arrival of the update, then you have to head to the Settings and choose the Device info section, and tap on Software updates.

According to reports from Italy, the GPU Turbo technology on the Honor View 10 currently supports a limited amount of games and one of the games supported is PUBG Mobile. Last year, in the month of September, Huawei launched its first full-screen smartphone, Maimang 6. Its successor, Huawei Maimang 7 is confirmed to feature Kirin 710 with Turbo GPU. Few days ago, Huawei announced that they are bringing the successor of Huawei Maimang 6 and will launch the phone at an event in Guangzhou on September 12. A poster was included along with the announcement, below, you can have a look at it . It will carry mid-range specs with a design similar to Huawei Mate 10 series.

Huawei seems to be on the launching spree as it has launched multiple devices in the past few weeks. Recently, Huawei announced Honor 8X and Honor 8X max under its Honor brand.

Today morning, Huawei officially confirmed that they will bring the powerful Kirin 710 along with the Maimang 7. In order to boost the gaming performance, Huawei will add Turbo GPU to the device. Other details of the device are not yet confirmed, but we expect it would be similar to the specs that were leaked in numerous rumors.

Huawei Maimang 7 specs

As per the leaks, Huawei Maimang 7 will carry 6.3 inch of screen having resolution of 2340 × 1080 pixels with 12:5:9 aspect ratio. It will come in 6/64 Gb storage variant along with Kirin 710 on board.

In order to make it more gaming compatible, Huawei has added GPU Turbo for enhanced graphics performance. Interestingly, it will improve the graphics performance by 60% and will increase battery efficiency upto 30 percent. The fingerprint sensor will be available on the back of the device. You can also expect the device to carry a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

The major feature that Huawei is advertising for the Maimang 7 is its dual camera setups on both the front and the back side. It will carry dual 20 megapixel + 2 megapixel camera on the back side and 24 megapixel + 2 megapixel dual camera on the front side. Unlike the previous generation of the Honor “X” line-up, the Honor 8X will be a way more out-of-the-usual device. It will not be just a random midrange smartphone, but it will be a huge phablet, so it will be a direct rival of the new Xiaomi Mi Max 3. This is what the latest leaks suggested, and this is also what we can notice in a live photo that has just surfaced online. The photo shows two phones stacked on top of each other with two boxes, hinting at the existence of two variants of the upcoming Huawei device.

According to reports, these two variants of the Honor 8X will sport a 7.12-inch and a 6.95-inch display, respectively. The diagonal of both variants is even higher than the one of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3, but note that the Xiaomi’s phablet has a display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, while the Huawei ones are expected to come with a notch, so with a 19:9 aspect ratio. This means that despite the diagonal being longer, the surface of the display will be smaller than Xiaomi Mi Max 3. The source of the live photo claims that the upcoming handset will boast a very powerful hardware side and a new “elevator” mode allowing the user to switch between different networks without losing the connection.

It would be a very useful feature for gaming, given that if you disconnect during a multiplayer match you automatically lose the match. This makes us think that Honor 8X will be equipped with both CPU Turbo and GPU Turbo technologies which can enhance the gaming experience by making the overall performance of CPU and GPU better (while reducing energy consumption). According to reports, Huawei Honor 8X will be launched in China with a price tag above CNY 2,000, which roughly translates into $292.

After debuting on the latest Huawei flagships, the new GPU Turbo technology is making its way even to older flagships released by Huawei. Today (August 13), the company has officially started the beta testing of GPU Turbo for the Huawei P10 series and for the Huawei Mate 9 series, excluding the Lite variants of each line-up. It is a closed beta testing phase, so the firmware will be available only for a limited amount of users (200 users with the log version and 2000 users without log version, according to the official Huawei Club forum).

The models eligible for the beta update are Mate 9 Netcom version identified by the model number MHA-AL00, Mate 9 MHA-TL00, Mate 9 Pro Netcom version LON-AL00 (including Porsche Design limited edition), P10 Netcom version VTR-AL00, P10 Netcom Mobile Edition VTR-TL00, P10 Plus Netcom Edition VKY-AL00 and P10 Plus Netcom Mobile Edition VKY-TL00. If you want to take part in the beta testing phase, you must have one of the phones without root permissions. Further, you must have the version 8.0.0.359 version of the firmware.

If you take part in the beta testing phase, you will not be able to remove the firmware and roll back to the previous version. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a huge 5500 mAh battery, bigger than the 5000 mAh unit of the Honor Note 10. And it even features a very efficient chipset, the Snapdragon 636. From how usually Xiaomi optimizes its devices, I believe that Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will provide a longer battery life. Finally, an aspect in which the Mi Max 3 should win, as it loses under all the other points of view.

Honor Note 10 is definitely the winner of this comparison, but if you do not need a very powerful flagship with a high-end display, note that Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a more affordable price tag. Honor Note 10 is available in China for $410/€350 in its base variant, while Mi Max 3 starts from $252/€215.

To be honest, it’s not really fair to compare these two devices despite being large sized phablets. They are clearly aimed at two different market segments. The Honor Note 10 is meant to be your flagship phablet, while the Mi Max 3 is looking to be more of a mid-range and budget phablet option. Both the phones are pretty impressive, but if you need something that’s a flagship grade device for gaming and HD streaming, the Honor Note 10 is your best bet. Smartphones are getting bigger every year and thanks to the reduction in the bezels around the display, their sizes have remained more or less the same. 6-inch flagships have become the norm this year, but there are a couple of devices which try to take smartphone screen sizes to the next level. Xiaomi’s Mi Max series started the trend of such large screen entertainment smartphones and even Honor joined the party with its own Note series back in 2016. Today, Huawei’s sub-brand is has launched the update to the two year old Note series smartphone, called the Honor Note 10. The phone joins the likes of the Mi Max 3 aimed at users who are looking for a phone bordering the size of a tablet.

Honor Note 10: Design

The Honor Note 10 is massive and that’s evident from its 6.95-inch 18.5:9 full screen display. Mind you, this is an AMOLED panel, unlike LCD on the Mi Max 3 and comes with 115% NTSC color gamut. The phone features 2.5D glass on the front and the back. The glass on the back has a special metal oxide nano-coating which makes it glitter under light. We are used to seeing special effects on the glass back of Honor smartphones, so this design was expected.

Apart from reducing the bezels around the display of the Honor Note 10, as compared to its predecessor, the Note 8, the phone is also narrower which will ensure that its easy to grip despite its huge display on board. There are two color options available, phantom blue (mixture of violet and blue) and magic night black.

As you might have already noticed, the Honor Note 10 ditches the notch, unlike other recent Honor smartphones, which is a welcome sign for notch haters.

Overall, the Honor Note 10 does pretty well for a nearly 7-inch monster smartphone. The front design is symmetric with minimal bezels, while the back with its special nano-coating looks beautiful. Design wise, you shouldn’t have any complaints.

Since the Note 10 is all about its 6.95-inch display, let’s talk about that first. The display is an AMOLED panel with 600 nits brightness and 70,000:1 contrast ratio. The phone supports HDR10 format, which means you get a better color range, making for a better viewing experience. For a smartphone that’s meant to be an entertainment monster, HDR10 support is definitely a big deal. Further, the Honor Note 10 boasts of AI video quality enhancement which promises improvement in video quality by up to 20%. The company explains that the phone uses AI to intelligently fill pixels on the screen to make it look more vibrant.

But what’s the use of a good display without great audio, right? Honor has got you covered here as well. The Honor Note 10 features symmetric stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

Apart from the large screen, one of the key highlights of the Honor Note 10 is its special CPU Turbo button. The phone features a dedicated Turbo key on the right side which will essentially start cleaning up background processes to allow CPU performance to reach its peak capacity. The Turbo mode will reportedly allow the Honor Note 10 to run even the heaviest of games without any hiccups. What’s more, you can customise this Turbo button for different functions like acting as a recording button during gameplay or as a shutter button in camera mode. Note that the phone comes with GPU turbo as well!

With the CPU running at its peak capacity, there’s always the question of heating. Honor is taking care of this issue as well, by adding a “PC level liquid cooling system” called “THE NINE” liquid cooling technology. The tech involves using a liquid cooling tube similar to the MacBook Air and can enhance heat dissipation capacity by 41% and reduce the maximum CPU temperature by up to 10 degrees celsius. That’s pretty impressive!

Coming to the other Honor Note 10 specs, the phone features the flagship Kirin 970 processor with up to 8GB RAM option and a gigantic 5000mAh battery to keep you running for more than a day. The company claims that you can play wilderness action for up to 4.5 hours and king of glory for up to 6.5 hours at a stretch with this large battery on board. Charging the large battery isn’t an issue since the phone supports 5V 4.5A super fast charging that’ll ensure that it gets topped up in around 2 hours!

The Honor Note 10 is not all about gaming, it’s also a good option for office and business use. The phone supports 1080p wired as well as wireless projection. Given its large display, there’s also a split display mode.

Coming to the cameras, the Honor Note 10 has the same setup as the Honor 10 featuring a 16MP + 24MP f/1.8 dual cameras. So, the camera performance should be similar to the Honor 10 as well. However, the Note 10 comes with AIS (AI image stabilisation) technology which will also aid in improving night photography. There are other standard features such as scene recognition, different beauty mode for selfies and AI bokeh.

Despite the similarities in the screen size, the Honor Note 10 and the Mi Max 3 are clearly aimed at different consumers. The Mi Max 3 is more of a budget option (~$250) for large screen lovers while the Honor Note 10 is more of a complete entertainment package (~$400) with better display, audio and gaming experience, at a higher price tag.

A few weeks ago, Huawei announced the release schedule for its GPU Turbo technology for supported devices. At the moment, the Huawei Mate P20, P20 Pro, Mate 10, and Mate 10 Pro have received a beta version of the feature. Come Tuesday, it will be the turn of the mid-range Honor 7x and two other devices.

The Honor 7X was released last year and comes with a Kirin 659 processor. It is one of Huawei’s more popular mid-range phones globally. When it receives the update that brings a beta version of the feature, it will be the first powered by a Kirin 659 SoC to do so.

The other two devices that will also get it alongside the Honor 7X are the Honor 9i and the Honor 9 Lite (Youth Edition). The Honor 9i mentioned above is the recently released one and not the Honor 9i (Maimang 6/Nova 2i) sold in India.

Recently, Huawei launched its latest technology named GPU Turbo, which claims to drastically improve smartphone’s performance. Soon after that, the company started rolling out the update to various smartphones of Huawei as well as Honor.

Honor Play was launched with GPU Turbo technology pre-installed and then the company offered a beta update to Honor 10 with GPU Turbo. Now, the company has revealed that the list of devices that will get this new technology.

The list includes newly launched smartphones as well as older devices. The Chinese brand has revealed that the GPU Turbo will be rolled out to recently launched Honor 9i, Honor 9 Youth Edition, Honor Play 7X, Honor 8 Youth Edition as well as Honor 6X which was launched in the year 2016.

While the update for the Honor 9i, Honor 7X, and 9 Youth Edition is expected to start rolling out from 31st July, the update for the remaining two devices — Honor 9 Youth and Honor 6X will be rolled out later, but the company has not announced a specific date.

The company had earlier announced that the Honor 9 Lite and Honor V10 will be receiving the update in September, along with the Honor 7X. Also, Honor 8 Pro and Honor 9 owners in all the regions will receive the update in November.

Huawei has already announced that the P20, P20 Pro, Mate 10, Mate Pro and Mate RS will be receiving the update by August. Owners of the aforementioned smartphones in regions like Europe, Russia, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa will be provided with the update. The Huawei P20 Lite users in all the markets mentioned above excluding Russia will be receiving the GPU Turbo tech update in September.

The users of Mate 10 Lite, Nova 2i, P Smart and Y9 2018 will get the update in September. In November, the Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro, P10 and P10 Plus will be updated with this new technology.

The Honor Play is the first smartphone to come with Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology.  Apart from the improved GPU performance, it also supports 4D gaming which is basically the user playing 3D games and experiencing physical effects (read vibrations) when there is an explosion, shooting, or quake in the game.

Announced back in May, the Honor Play has now received its first price cut since it went on sale. When it launched, the base model which has 4GB of RAM and 64G B of storage was priced at ¥1999 (~$295). Huawei has announced it will now sell for ¥1899 (~$280). It will also ship all orders with a free Huawei Bluetooth speaker and a pair of wired earphones that cost ¥109 (~$16) and ¥99 (~$15) respectively.

The Honor Play comes with a 6.3-inch screen FHD+ screen with a notch. It is powered by a Kirin 970 processor, the same found in the Huawei Mate 10, Huawei P20, and Honor V10. Apart from the 4GB model which got a price cut, there is a 6GB RAM + 64GB model.

But there’s more to come! Huawei’s sub-brand, Honor, is all set to announce another revolutionary feature next week.

Earlier today, Honor’s weibo released a teaser celebrating the first lunar landing (July 20, 1969), and further added that there would be something revolutionary this Monday with the words “1 second faster than Humans”. To be honest, this teaser was quite unclear and many were left wondering what to expect from the company’s new announcement on Monday.

However, soon after this teaser, Honor’s President, George Zhao, forwarded this weibo post adding a few comments. He said that he couldn’t reveal a lot about the upcoming announcement but can only say that it is yet another  major breakthrough by the company, this time in the field of AI.

Combining the two statements, first from the official Honor weibo page and the second from Mr. Zhao, we can say that it has something to do with AI being smarter and faster on smartphones. In this age, where AI has penetrated in each and every part of a smartphone including camera and UI, a revolutionary boost in this technology could have very notable advantages. Unfortunately, we don’t have much details as to what kind of improvement we’ll see but it looks as if the company could have made some significant progress in its machine learning technology.

Huawei has now officially confirmed that the name of the 14 Huawei smartphones that will be receiving the GPU Turbo technology update. The company has also revealed on the approximate time period on when these devices will be receiving the GPU Turbo update.

In August, Huawei will be bringing the GPU Turbo technology update to users of Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Mate RS, P20 and P20 Pro. Owners of these smartphones from markets like Europe, Russia, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa will be able to take advantage of the update.

In September, the GPU Turbo update will be coming to users of Mate 10 Lite, Nova 2i, P Smart and Y9 2018 in all markets. Owners of P20 Lite in regions like Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa will be also receiving the update in the same month.

In November, the Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro, P10 and P10 Plus will be updated with GPU Turbo. The update will made available to users of these smartphones in all regions.

GPU Turbo technology was unveiled on the day when Huawei had announced Honor Play and Honor 9i smartphones in June. It is a hardware-software technology for accelerating the performance of the GPU of a smartphone. Huawei claims that the GPU Turbo technology can enhance the performance of GPU by 60 percent and at the same time it reduces its power consumption by 30 percent. It can also improve the performance AR, VR and EMUI user experience. A recent report has revealed that the Huawei MediaPad M5 is the first tablet from the company to receive GPU Turbo technology. The tablet is expected to receive the vital update in this month.

The above list does not include Honor phones. However, a recent report had revealed that some of the Honor branded smartphones will be also updated with GPU Turbo. Honor 10, Honor 9 Lite, Honor V10 and Honor 7X users located in Europe, Russia, Asia Pacific, India and Middle East will be treated with GPU Turbo update.

Huawei has announced through its official Weibo handle that the MediaPad M5 tablet will usher in a robust upgrade that would set it apart from its predecessor. The MediaPad M5 tablet will be upgraded so as to support Huawei’s latest GPU Turbo technology. The upgrade will roll out this July and makes the MediaPad M5 series the first tablets that would have the GPU Turbo technology onboard.

The MediaPad M5 was first unveiled in April this year and it comes in three versions; an 8.4-inch, as well as a 10.8-inch. There is also a model dubbed M5 Pro. Both the Mediapad M5 and M5 Pro are equipped with an Hisilicon Kirin 960 flagship chipset. The device comes with 4GB RAM across all models and there are three internal storage versions; 32GB, 64GB and 128GBGB models.

Last week, Huawei announced that will soon open its beta testing program for the EMUI 8.1 for the users of Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Pro smartphones. Now, the company has officially started rolling out the update which comes with Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology.

Earlier, the company said that the beta testing program was limited to 2,000 participants but it seems that Huawei has now started rolling out the update for all the users of the P20 series smartphones. To get this update, users can log-in to the member service application and navigate to the service section. In that, once the user opts to upgrade to the early adopters, the system will be upgraded to the version number EML-AL00 8.1.0.150 (C00).

Most of the changes for the EMUI 8.1 are minor but the update brings Huawei’s “breakthrough technology” GPU Turbo which promises double-digit gains in performance and efficiency. The company claims that the technology provides 60 percent better graphics performance and 30 percent better SoC power consumption.

Earlier, the company had officially announced the EMUI 8.1 beta testing for the customers using the Mate-series, P-series, Honor V10, Honor 10 and Honor 9i smartphones. After the P20-series, the users of Honor 9, Honor V9, Honor Play 7X, and Honor 9 Youth Edition will get their hands on this new feature.

The Huawei P20 Pro comes with a 6.1-inch AMOLED display that supports 2240 x 1080 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. It is powered by Kirin 970 chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. It is the first smartphone ever to feature a triple camera setup that includes a 40-megapixel RGB sensor, an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor, and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. On the front side, there’s a 24-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

On the other hand, the Huawei P20 has a 5.8-inch LTPS IPS LCD screen with the same resolution and aspect ratio like P20 Pro. It is powered by Kirin 970 SoC along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. It features a dual camera setup consisting of a 12-megapixel RGB sensor and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. On the front side, this one too comes with a 24-megapixel sensor for taking selfies and video calling.

Past reports have only revealed that the Note 10 houses a 6.9-inch Super AMOLED display while rest of the specs have remained a mystery. Today, fresh screengrabs from the official honor.cn website have appeared on Weibo. The leaked screenshots have revealed some really vital information on the specs and design of the phone.

The new images reveal that the Honor Note 10’s 6.9-inch AMOLED display will carry support for 2K resolution. The Kirin 970 SoC will be driving force of the smartphone. For enhanced graphics performance, the handset will be arriving with Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology.

The Honor Note 10 will be featuring 6 GB of RAM and a native storage of 128 GB. For photography, there will be a pair of 16-megapixel AI dual camera. The handset will be housing a behemoth battery of 6,000mAh capacity that will be enabled with support for fast charging technology.

The Honor Note 10 seems to be sporting a metal unibody design with white colored front panel and a gold rear. The back panel features a horizontal dual camera setup and a fingerprint sensor. Today, Huawei has introduced the Honor 10 GT as its first smartphone with 8 GB of RAM as enhanced edition of the Honor 10 that was introduced in April this year. Also, the Honor 10 GT features GPU Turbo (GT) technology that significantly improves the graphics performance of the smartphone.

In June, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor had introduced Honor Play with GPU Turbo feature. The latter is a software and hardware optimized graphics acceleration technology that enhances the graphics performance of a smartphone by 60 percent and at the same time it consumes 30 percent less power. Huawei is in the process of making it available to several Huawei and Honor phones through a software update.

Smartphones with GPU Turbo technology can run games like King of Glory and QQ Speed with full frame rate. The single-thread performance of a GPU Turbo enabled mid-range phone can beat the performance of multi-thread performance of some flagship phones.

The power saving feature on the Honor 10 GT ensures that its power consumption during 8 hours of standby is only 2 to 3 percent. Apart from the powerful GPU Turbo technology, the Honor 10 GT comes with 8 GB of RAM for bolstering its performance.

Huawei had introduced Super Night Scene mode on the Mate 10 for capturing beautiful night shots by using a tripod. The Huawei P20 and P20 Pro that were unveiled earlier this year came with AI smart anti-shake technology enabled Super Night Scene mode for shooting night shots without a tripod. The same camera feature will be brought to Honor 10 GT through a beta update from July 12.

The Honor 10 GT borrows all the other specs from the regular version of Honor 10. The Kirin 970 is the driving force of the phone. The native storage of the phone is not known, but it seems that it could be featuring 128 GB of inbuilt storage.

For photography, it features 24-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual camera unit on its back. Its front-facing camera is of 24-megapixel. Below the screen of the phone is a fingerprint scanner enabled capacitive home button. It is running on EMUI 8.1 flavored Android 8.1 Oreo OS.

CES Asia kicked off today and the big names in the Chinese mobile industry are in attendance. Huawei had a conference today and it announced some new features coming to its devices including the newly announced GPU Turbo.

The Huawei Mate 10 series will be the first to receive the GPU Turbo update. Huawei’s GPU Turbo increases the processing power of the GPU by up to 60% while reducing power consumption by 30%. The new feature was announced last week and comes with the Honor Play smartphone.

Since most of Huawei’s devices use in-house chipsets, they have found a way to push the feature to its other phones via a software update. The update will arrive on the Mate 10 by the end of this month.

Huawei also announced other devices getting the feature and the time frame. Below are the supported devices and when they will get the update:

1. June – Mate 10, Honor V10
2. July – P20 Series, Mate RS Porsche Design, Nova 2s, Honor 10, MediaPad M5

Huawei also announced some new features coming to the Mate 10. First, the Mate 10 series will support cloud computing starting June 26. It will then receive the EMUI 8.1 update in mid-July which will bring 960fps slow-motion recording.

Honor had a busy day today announcing first its revolutionary GPU Turbo technology and then releasing its first ever smartphone featuring this tech, the Honor Play. Like the name suggests, the phone relies heavily on this technology to enhance the overall gaming experience of the smartphone user. The basic hardware on the Honor Play is standard flagship stuff, but the underlying technology that powers the device makes it a really good gaming device.

Before we move on to the basic specs details, let’s take a look at what makes the Honor Play special.

The new Honor flagship is basically a gaming centric smartphone. It’s the first Honor device to feature the revolutionary GPU Turbo technology that enhances GPU performance significantly by increasing graphics processing efficiency by up to 60%. This results in better gaming performance than flagships such as the Xiaomi Mi 8, iPhone X, and even the Mi Mix 2S. The company revealed that the phone manages to beat these flagships in terms of frame rate and jitters, thereby giving an enhanced gaming experience on the device.

Further, the phone boasts of 4D gaming experience, powered by the same GPU Turbo technology. 4D gaming is possible because the Honor Play can detect a number of gaming scenes including shots, explosions and quakes. You also get a 3D sound experience, so you’ll be able to clearly locate the angle of firing. The phone also reportedly features a special film on its screen to reduce reflection and improve gaming experience under light. It also features in-game network optimisation which promises seamless shift from Wi-Fi to mobile data in order to ensure uninterrupted gameplay.

Now coming to the standard stuff, the phone has a 6.3-inch FHD+ 2340 x 1080 display with a notch on top. Unlike other Honor flagships, this one features a metal back and U shaped antenna lines. The dual cameras are located on the left side while the fingerprint sensor lies around the centre at the back. There are three color options: Nebula Purple, Aurora Blue, and Midnight Black.

The Honor Play features the Kirin 970 chipset (Mali-G72 MP12) inside in two memory configurations (expandable up to 256GB): 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 64GB. The rear dual camera setup is average, featuring a 16MP f/2.2 primary sensor paired with a 2MP f/2.4 secondary depth sensor with support for AI shooting and AR gestures. On the front, there’s a 16MP f/2.0 sensor for selfies.

The phone has a decent 3750mAh battery inside which should be good enough for a day’s worth of gaming. Other features include Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi ac, and GPS. The phone is running on EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 OS.

Honor Play is cheaper than the flagship Honor 10 model and starts at 1999 Yuan ($312) for the 4GB + 64GB variant. The 6GB + 64GB variant will cost 2399 Yuan ($375). Further, it brings HDR picture quality and special effects in gaming making the overall experience rich and fluid.

The company managed to achieve this by restructuring the traditional graphics framework at the lower level system. The technology relies on hardware-software integrated GPU acceleration. It will benefit mobile games that require high level of graphics processing efficiency. Honor adds that GPU Turbo can support AR and VR in the future and it can be applied in the sectors including virtual teaching, online shopping and telemedicine.

To put very simply, it looks like Huawei has found a way to tweak how the GPU handles graphics processing to enhance its efficiency to a significant extent. Think of this tech as a smartphone turbocharger. What’s really exciting is that the existing hardware will also get the benefit of the GPU Turbo. GPU Turbo will first make it to the Honor Play smartphone that was announced today.
