<p>Earlier today, the Chinese tech giant shared a post on its official Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website. In this social media post, the company teased the Honor V40&#8217;s new graphics acceleration engine, dubbed the GPU Turbo X. Honor even shared a short video teaser, which demonstrated the graphics acceleration feature that will arrive in the upcoming device. At the moment, the finer details of how this engine works are currently unknown, but we can expect it to be a form of software optimization, which improves paired with slight GPU overclocking to squeeze performance from its chip.</p>

It offers a smoother gaming experience and improved battery performance while gaming.</p>
<p>Since its launch in June last year, the feature has been updated a couple of times for performance improvements and the inclusion of more titles. And now, the company has announced the third iteration of the GPU Turbo mode with support for 19 Android games.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-243478 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/gpu-turbo-3.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1200" height="733" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/gpu-turbo-3.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/gpu-turbo-3-300x183.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/gpu-turbo-3-768x469.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/gpu-turbo-3-1024x625.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>The third generation of GPU Turbo comes as part of Huawei’s latest firmware version i.e. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/emui/">EMUI</a> 9.1 which is based on Android 9 Pie operating system and was released with the company&#8217;s latest flagship smartphones &#8212; Huawei P30 and P30 Pro.</p>
<p>The company claims that GPU Turbo 3.0 cuts down on SoC power consumption by 10 percent and optimizes &#8220;the underlying system performance to provide a continuous gaming experience.&#8221; Currently, the GPU Turbo 3.0 is exclusively available on the P30 and P30 Pro smartphones, it will be rolling out to other Huawei as well as Honor smartphones with the EMUI 9.1 update soon.</p>
<p>Along with system optimization, it also comes with a number of Android game titles which can utilize GPU Turbo. The list of supports games have now been increased from 6 to 25, which includes Fortnite, Knives Out, Battle Bay, Crazy Taxi, Real Racing 3, Into the Dead 2, NBA 2K19, Dragon Nest M, Duel Links, PES2019, DRAGON BALL LEGENDS, FIFA Mobile, Free Fire, Minecraft, Helix, Plants vs. Zombie Heroes, Subway Surfers, Brawl Stars, Speed Drifters.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>One of the interesting thing about the GPU Turbo from Huawei is that the company has not limited it to just flagship smartphones and is also pushing it to budget devices such as Honor 7X and Honor 9 Lite for a better gaming experience.</p>

Now is the age of the upper mid-rangers and in some ways, this special category of smartphones are getting pretty solid attention. Remember the world&#8217;s first in screen (infinity O) camera smartphone from Samsung which <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/10/samsung-galaxy-a8s-infinity-o-display-snapdragon-710-processor-triple-rear-cameras-no-audio-jack/">was actually a mid-range Galaxy device</a>? Huawei is going for a similar strategy and the newly launched <strong>Huawei Nova 4</strong> is interesting in a lot of aspects. First, it joins the Galaxy A8S by featuring an in-screen front-facing camera, which allowed the company to make the phone nearly full screen. But Huawei claims it takes things to the next level by using the world&#8217;s smallest camera setup up front.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Huawei-Nova-4-screen-camera-compared-e1545032076623.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-228056" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Huawei-Nova-4-screen-camera-compared-e1545032076623.png?x10805" alt="Huawei Nova 4 screen camera compared" width="736" height="409" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Huawei-Nova-4-screen-camera-compared-e1545032076623.png 736w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Huawei-Nova-4-screen-camera-compared-e1545032076623-300x167.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px" /></a></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> has added the 25MP front on the top left corner of the phone which the company claims will least interfere with the app area. The Nova 4 hides the ambient light sensor inside and uses a micro-slot earpiece to maximize the screen real estate. The company adds that the front camera on the phone is the smallest module in the mobile industry right now. It measures just 3.5mm and ensures that the overall diameter of the front camera opening is just 4.5mm, which is less as compared to competitor offerings with over 6.5mm+ diameter slits.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Worlds-smallest-front-camera-on-Nova-4.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-228057" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Worlds-smallest-front-camera-on-Nova-4.png?x10805" alt="Worlds smallest front camera on Nova 4" width="1280" height="421" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Worlds-smallest-front-camera-on-Nova-4.png 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Worlds-smallest-front-camera-on-Nova-4-300x99.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Worlds-smallest-front-camera-on-Nova-4-768x253.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Worlds-smallest-front-camera-on-Nova-4-1024x337.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></a></p>
<p>The front design is definitely the highlight of the Nova 4. However, even at the back, the company has ensured that fans get a lot of color options. The phone comes in special Red, White (similar to P20 Pro&#8217;s color variant), and Aurora Blue color options. Apart from this, there&#8217;s a basic black color as well.</p>

Other details of the device are not yet confirmed, but we expect it would be similar to the specs that were leaked in numerous rumors.</p>

It will not be just a random midrange smartphone, but it will be a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/20/honor-8x-officially-confirmed-mi-max-3-has-got-a-true-rival/">huge phablet</a>, so it will be a direct rival of the new <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-max-3">Xiaomi Mi Max 3</a>. This is what the latest leaks suggested, and this is also what we can notice in a live photo that has just surfaced online. The photo shows two phones stacked on top of each other with two <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/19/honor-8x-retail-box-leaks-could-be-launching-soon/">boxes</a>, hinting at the existence of two variants of the upcoming Huawei device.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-207267" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/8x.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="728" height="564" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/8x.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/8x-300x232.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/8x-285x220.jpg 285w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></p>
<p>According to reports, these two variants of the Honor 8X will sport a 7.12-inch and a 6.95-inch display, respectively. The diagonal of both variants is even higher than the one of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3, but note that the Xiaomi&#8217;s phablet has a display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, while the Huawei ones are expected to come with a notch, so with a 19:9 aspect ratio. This means that despite the diagonal being longer, the surface of the display will be smaller than Xiaomi Mi Max 3. The source of the live photo claims that the upcoming handset will boast a very powerful hardware side and a new &#8220;elevator&#8221; mode allowing the user to switch between different networks without losing the connection.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>It would be a very useful feature for gaming, given that if you disconnect during a multiplayer match you automatically lose the match. This makes us think that Honor 8X will be equipped with both CPU Turbo and GPU Turbo technologies which can enhance the gaming experience by making the overall performance of CPU and GPU better (while reducing energy consumption). According to reports, Huawei Honor 8X will be launched in China with a price tag above CNY 2,000, which roughly translates into $292.</p>

It is a closed beta testing phase, so the firmware will be available only for a limited amount of users (200 users with the log version and 2000 users without log version, according to the official Huawei Club forum).</p>

<h3></h3>
<h3>Honor Note 10 vs Xiaomi Mi Max 3: Design</h3>
<p>If you get a big phablet like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/31/honor-note-10-launched-with-a-large-6-95-inch-amoled-display-cpu-gpu-turbo-liquid-cooling/">Huawei Honor Note 10</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/19/xiaomi-mi-max-3-with-6-9-inch-display-sd-636-dual-cameras-5500mah-is-official-with-1699-yuan-pricing/">Xiaomi Mi Max 3</a>, keep in mind that you have to deal with a huge device that is not comfortable to fit in your pockets. But on the other hand, they are very handy to use as an entertainment monster. Honor Note 10 and Xiaomi Mi Max 3 are smaller than the typical phablet thanks to their very narrow bezels, and this is an added value of both the devices. When it comes to aesthetics, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/honor">Honor</a> Note 10 wins thanks to its more elegant glass back paired with an aluminum frame. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a full metal unibody design and is uninspiring.</p>
<h3>Display</h3>
<p>The display is another plus point for the Honor Note 10. It features one of the most impressive panels ever seen on an extra-large phablet. Not only does it have narrow bezels, but also AMOLED and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/hdr10">HDR10</a> technology making its color incredibly vivid and realistic, with very deep blacks. Sadly, it does not feature the Quad HD+ resolution, it would have been amazing on a huge 6.9-inch display, but it still remains an outstanding panel.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Honor Note 10 vs Xiaomi Mi Max 3: Specs &amp; Software</h3>
<p>Even when it comes to hardware, Honor Note 10 is way superior! With its Kirin 970 SoC and up to 8 GB of RAM, it achieves flagship-level performances and it is very cool for gaming and multi-tasking. Further, it has the wonderful<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/gpu-turbo"> GPU Turbo</a> technology which enhances graphics performance by up to 60 percent, another added value for gaming. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 instead is just a mid-range device.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Honor Note 10 vs Xiaomi Mi Max 3: Camera</h3>
<p>Both devices have pretty good cameras even though they are far from the top camera phones. Unfortunately, there are still no detailed camera samples and the handsets are still not in our market, so we did not have the chance to test them in detail. But on the paper, Honor Note 10 looks better with its dual 16 and 24 MP camera setup and its bright f/1.8 aperture on both the sensors. Note that you can check out our <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbodBej_vpg">Mi Max 3 video review from here</a>!</p>
<h3>Battery</h3>
<p>Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a huge 5500 mAh battery, bigger than the 5000 mAh unit of the Honor Note 10. And it even features a very efficient chipset, the Snapdragon 636. From how usually Xiaomi optimizes its devices, I believe that Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will provide a longer battery life. Finally, an aspect in which the Mi Max 3 should win, as it loses under all the other points of view.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Honor Note 10 vs Xiaomi Mi Max 3: Price</h3>
<p>Honor Note 10 is definitely the winner of this comparison, but if you do not need a very powerful flagship with a high-end display, note that Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a more affordable price tag. Honor Note 10 is available in China for $410/€350 in its base variant, while Mi Max 3 starts from $252/€215.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>To be honest, it&#8217;s not really fair to compare these two devices despite being large sized phablets. They are clearly aimed at two different market segments. The Honor Note 10 is meant to be your flagship phablet, while the Mi Max 3 is looking to be more of a mid-range and budget phablet option. Both the phones are pretty impressive, but if you need something that&#8217;s a flagship grade device for gaming and HD streaming, the Honor Note 10 is your best bet. For someone looking for a more budget option, the Mi Max 3 turns out to be a pretty great option too! Personally, a SD710 variant would&#8217;ve been a great option for better gaming on the large screen device, but SD636 is pretty good too, since its nearly as powerful as the SD660. In fact, you can check out <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/06/qualcomms-snapdragon-600-series-mid-range-socs-explained/">our detailed analysis of the Snapdragon mid-range family from here</a>!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

Xiaomi&#8217;s Mi Max series started the trend of such large screen entertainment smartphones and even Honor joined the party with its own Note series back in 2016. Today, Huawei&#8217;s sub-brand is has launched the update to the two year old Note series smartphone, called the <strong>Honor Note 10</strong>. The phone joins the likes of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-max-3-smartphone-full-specification-and-features/">Mi Max 3</a> aimed at users who are looking for a phone bordering the size of a tablet.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Honor Note 10: Design</strong></h3>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/honor">Honor</a> Note 10 is massive and that&#8217;s evident from its 6.95-inch 18.5:9 full screen display. Mind you, this is an AMOLED panel, unlike LCD on the Mi Max 3 and comes with 115% NTSC color gamut. The phone features 2.5D glass on the front and the back. The glass on the back has a special metal oxide nano-coating which makes it glitter under light. We are used to seeing <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-10-gt/">special effects on the glass back of Honor smartphones</a>, so this design was expected.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.03-PM.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-203941" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.03-PM.png?x10805" alt="Honor Note 10 01" width="814" height="558" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.03-PM.png 814w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.03-PM-300x206.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.03-PM-768x526.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 814px) 100vw, 814px" /></a></p>
<p>Apart from reducing the bezels around the display of the Honor Note 10, as compared to its predecessor, the Note 8, the phone is also narrower which will ensure that its easy to grip despite its huge display on board. There are two color options available, phantom blue (mixture of violet and blue) and magic night black.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.04.45-PM.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-203948" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.04.45-PM-1024x542.png?x10805" alt="Honor Note 10 02" width="640" height="339" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.04.45-PM-1024x542.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.04.45-PM-300x159.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.04.45-PM-768x407.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.04.45-PM.png 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>As you might have already noticed, the Honor Note 10 ditches the notch, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/26/huawei-nova-3-3i-india-launch-specs-price/">unlike other recent Honor smartphones</a>, which is a welcome sign for notch haters.</p>
<p>Overall, the Honor Note 10 does pretty well for a nearly 7-inch monster smartphone. The front design is symmetric with minimal bezels, while the back with its special nano-coating looks beautiful. Design wise, you shouldn&#8217;t have any complaints.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Honor Note 10: Specs</strong></h3>
<p>Since the Note 10 is all about its 6.95-inch display, let&#8217;s talk about that first. The display is an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/amoled">AMOLED</a> panel with 600 nits brightness and 70,000:1 contrast ratio. The phone supports HDR10 format, which means you get a better color range, making for a better viewing experience. For a smartphone that&#8217;s meant to be an entertainment monster, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/hdr10">HDR10</a> support is definitely a big deal. Further, the Honor Note 10 boasts of AI video quality enhancement which promises improvement in video quality by up to 20%. The company explains that the phone uses AI to intelligently fill pixels on the screen to make it look more vibrant.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.04.05-PM.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-203946" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.04.05-PM-1024x659.png?x10805" alt="Honor Note 10 HDR10" width="640" height="412" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.04.05-PM-1024x659.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.04.05-PM-300x193.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.04.05-PM-768x494.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.04.05-PM.png 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>But what&#8217;s the use of a good display without great audio, right? Honor has got you covered here as well. The Honor Note 10 features symmetric stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.15.22-PM.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-203951" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.15.22-PM-1024x756.png?x10805" alt="Honor Note 10 CPU turbo" width="640" height="473" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.15.22-PM-1024x756.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.15.22-PM-300x222.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.15.22-PM-768x567.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.15.22-PM.png 1029w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>Apart from the large screen, one of the key highlights of the Honor Note 10 is its special CPU <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/turbo">Turbo</a> button. The phone features a dedicated Turbo key on the right side which will essentially start cleaning up background processes to allow CPU performance to reach its peak capacity. The Turbo mode will reportedly allow the Honor Note 10 to run even the heaviest of games without any hiccups. What&#8217;s more, you can customise this Turbo button for different functions like acting as a recording button during gameplay or as a shutter button in camera mode. Note that the phone comes with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/06/honor-announces-gpu-turbo-a-turbocharger-for-your-smartphone-graphics/">GPU turbo as well</a>!</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.48-PM.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-203944" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.48-PM-1024x674.png?x10805" alt="Honor Note 10 Nine liquid cooling" width="640" height="421" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.48-PM-1024x674.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.48-PM-300x197.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.48-PM-768x506.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.48-PM-540x355.png 540w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.48-PM-730x480.png 730w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.48-PM.png 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>With the CPU running at its peak capacity, there&#8217;s always the question of heating. Honor is taking care of this issue as well, by adding a &#8220;PC level liquid cooling system&#8221; called <strong>&#8220;THE NINE&#8221;</strong> liquid cooling technology. The tech involves using a liquid cooling tube similar to the MacBook Air and can enhance heat dissipation capacity by 41% and reduce the maximum CPU temperature by up to 10 degrees celsius. That&#8217;s pretty impressive!</p>
<p>Coming to the other Honor Note 10 specs, the phone features the flagship Kirin 970 processor with up to 8GB RAM option and a gigantic 5000mAh battery to keep you running for more than a day. The company claims that you can play wilderness action for up to 4.5 hours and king of glory for up to 6.5 hours at a stretch with this large battery on board. Charging the large battery isn&#8217;t an issue since the phone supports 5V 4.5A super fast charging that&#8217;ll ensure that it gets topped up in around 2 hours!</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.30-PM.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-203943" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.30-PM.png?x10805" alt="Honor Note 10 specs" width="979" height="609" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.30-PM.png 979w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.30-PM-300x187.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.30-PM-768x478.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-31-at-2.03.30-PM-540x335.png 540w" sizes="(max-width: 979px) 100vw, 979px" /></a></p>
<p>The Honor Note 10 is not all about gaming, it&#8217;s also a good option for office and business use. The phone supports 1080p wired as well as wireless projection. Given its large display, there&#8217;s also a split display mode.</p>
<p>Coming to the cameras, the Honor Note 10 has the same setup as the Honor 10 featuring a 16MP + 24MP f/1.8 dual cameras. So, the camera performance should be similar to the Honor 10 as well. However, the Note 10 comes with AIS (AI image stabilisation) technology which will also aid in improving night photography. There are other standard features such as scene recognition, different beauty mode for selfies and AI bokeh.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Despite the similarities in the screen size, the Honor Note 10 and the Mi Max 3 are clearly aimed at different consumers. The Mi Max 3 is more of a budget option (~$250) for large screen lovers while the Honor Note 10 is more of a complete entertainment package (~$400) with better display, audio and gaming experience, at a higher price tag.</p>

<p>Earlier today, Honor&#8217;s weibo released a teaser celebrating the first lunar landing (July 20, 1969), and further added that there would be something revolutionary this Monday with the words &#8220;1 second faster than Humans&#8221;. To be honest, this teaser was quite unclear and many were left wondering what to expect from the company&#8217;s new announcement on Monday.</p>
<p>However, soon after this teaser, Honor&#8217;s President, George Zhao, forwarded this weibo post adding a few comments. He said that he couldn&#8217;t reveal a lot about the upcoming announcement but can only say that it is yet another  major breakthrough by the company, this time in the field of AI.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-20-at-2.44.33-PM.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-202254" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-20-at-2.44.33-PM.png?x10805" alt="George Zhao Honor announcement" width="596" height="553" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-20-at-2.44.33-PM.png 596w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-20-at-2.44.33-PM-300x278.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 596px) 100vw, 596px" /></a></p>
<p>Combining the two statements, first from the official <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/honor">Honor</a> weibo page and the second from Mr. Zhao, we can say that it has something to do with AI being smarter and faster on smartphones. In this age, where <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ai">AI</a> has penetrated in each and every part of a smartphone including camera and UI, a revolutionary boost in this technology could have very notable advantages. Unfortunately, we don&#8217;t have much details as to what kind of improvement we&#8217;ll see but it looks as if the company could have made some significant progress in its machine learning technology.</p>
<p>We are excited to hear more about this breakthrough technology. If its like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/gpu-turbo">GPU Turbo</a>, it could be available to a lot of existing Honor and Huawei smartphones too. Let&#8217;s wait for more details.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>GPU Turbo technology was unveiled on the day when Huawei had announced Honor Play and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-9i">Honor 9i</a> smartphones in June. It is a hardware-software technology for accelerating the performance of the GPU of a smartphone. Huawei claims that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/06/honor-announces-gpu-turbo-a-turbocharger-for-your-smartphone-graphics/">GPU Turbo technology</a> can enhance the performance of GPU by 60 percent and at the same time it reduces its power consumption by 30 percent. It can also improve the performance AR, VR and EMUI user experience. A recent report has revealed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mediapad-m5">Huawei MediaPad M5</a> is the first tablet from the company to receive GPU Turbo technology. The tablet is expected to receive the vital update in this month.</p>
<p>The above list does not include <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/honor">Honor</a> phones. However, a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/29/huawei-confirms-gpu-turbo-technology-rollout-schedule-eligible-huawei-honor-devices/">recent report</a> had revealed that some of the Honor branded smartphones will be also updated with GPU Turbo. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-10">Honor 10</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-9-lite">Honor 9 Lite</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-v10">Honor V10</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-7x">Honor 7X</a> users located in Europe, Russia, Asia Pacific, India and Middle East will be treated with GPU Turbo update.</p>
<p>Some of the recently unveiled Honor phones that come with GPU Turbo technology are <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-play/">Honor Play</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-10-gt/">Honor 10 GT</a>. Huawei also plans to launch a GPU Turbo optimized gaming smartphone <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/30/huawei-to-unveil-a-gaming-phone-with-gpu-turbo-in-h2-2018/">later this year</a>.</p>

Now, the company has officially started rolling out the update which comes with Huawei&#8217;s GPU Turbo technology.</p>
<p>Earlier, the company said that the beta testing program was limited to 2,000 participants but it seems that Huawei has now started rolling out the update for all the users of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/03/27/huawei-p20-and-huawei-p20-pro-official-cameras-takes-center-stage/">P20 series smartphones</a>. To get this update, users can log-in to the member service application and navigate to the service section. In that, once the user opts to upgrade to the early adopters, the system will be upgraded to the version number EML-AL00 8.1.0.150 (C00).</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-199717 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Huawei-P20-GPU-Turbo.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="900" height="590" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Huawei-P20-GPU-Turbo.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Huawei-P20-GPU-Turbo-300x197.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Huawei-P20-GPU-Turbo-768x504.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Huawei-P20-GPU-Turbo-1024x672.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Huawei-P20-GPU-Turbo-540x355.jpg 540w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Huawei-P20-GPU-Turbo-730x480.jpg 730w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></p>
<p>Most of the changes for the EMUI 8.1 are minor but the update brings Huawei’s “breakthrough technology” <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/06/honor-announces-gpu-turbo-a-turbocharger-for-your-smartphone-graphics/">GPU Turbo</a> which promises double-digit gains in performance and efficiency. The company claims that the technology provides 60 percent better graphics performance and 30 percent better SoC power consumption.</p>
<p>Earlier, the company had officially announced the EMUI 8.1 beta testing for the customers using the Mate-series, P-series, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-v10/">Honor V10</a>, Honor 10 and Honor 9i smartphones. After the P20-series, the users of Honor 9, Honor V9, Honor Play 7X, and Honor 9 Youth Edition will get their hands on this new feature.</p>
<p>The Huawei <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-p20-pro">P20 Pro</a> comes with a 6.1-inch AMOLED display that supports 2240 x 1080 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. It is powered by Kirin 970 chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. It is the first smartphone ever to feature a triple camera setup that includes a 40-megapixel RGB sensor, an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor, and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. On the front side, there’s a 24-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.</p>
<p>On the other hand, the Huawei P20 has a 5.8-inch LTPS IPS LCD screen with the same resolution and aspect ratio like P20 Pro. It is powered by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/09/02/huawei-unveils-kirin-970-worlds-first-processor-dedicated-npu/">Kirin 970</a> SoC along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. It features a dual camera setup consisting of a 12-megapixel RGB sensor and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. On the front side, this one too comes with a 24-megapixel sensor for taking selfies and video calling.</p>

It is advisable to wait for the TENAA listing or other reliable leaks to confirm on its specs.</p>
<p><strong>Original Post:</strong>  Yesterday, Honor’s President Zhao Ming had confirmed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/04/honor-note-10-moniker-confirmed-by-honor-president-launch-seems-imminent/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Honor Note 10 is an upcoming smartphone from the company</a>. Past reports have only revealed that the Note 10 houses a 6.9-inch Super AMOLED display while rest of the specs have remained a mystery. Today, fresh screengrabs from the official honor.cn website have appeared on Weibo. The leaked screenshots have revealed some really vital information on the specs and design of the phone.</p>
<p>The new images reveal that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/honor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Honor</a> Note 10’s 6.9-inch AMOLED display will carry support for 2K resolution. The Kirin 970 SoC will be driving force of the smartphone. For enhanced graphics performance, the handset will be arriving with Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/05/honor-note-10-key-specifications-and-images-leaked/honor-note-10-key-specs/" rel="attachment wp-att-199683"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-199683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-Note-10-Key-Specs.jpg?x10805" alt="Honor Note 10 Key Specs" width="600" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-Note-10-Key-Specs.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-Note-10-Key-Specs-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-Note-10-Key-Specs-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The Honor Note 10 will be featuring 6 GB of RAM and a native storage of 128 GB. For photography, there will be a pair of 16-megapixel AI dual camera. The handset will be housing a behemoth battery of 6,000mAh capacity that will be enabled with support for fast charging technology.</p>
<p>The Honor Note 10 seems to be sporting a metal unibody design with white colored front panel and a gold rear. The back panel features a horizontal dual camera setup and a fingerprint sensor. The smartphone seems to be equipped with a tall aspect ratio supporting screen as it is surrounded by thin-sized bezels. Hence, the massive 6.9-inch display of the phone may carry support for an aspect ratio of 18:9.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/05/honor-note-10-key-specifications-and-images-leaked/honor-note-10-images/" rel="attachment wp-att-199684"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-199684" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-Note-10-Images.jpg?x10805" alt="Honor Note 10 Images" width="900" height="452" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-Note-10-Images.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-Note-10-Images-300x151.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-Note-10-Images-768x386.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></a></p>

<p> The upper bezel seems to be featuring a dual selfie snapper along with an earpiece and another sensor. The new images debunk the rumors that had claimed that the Note 10 will be coming with a notched display.</p>
<p>There is no confirmation on the authenticity of the above images. Hence, it advisable to digest the report with a grain of salt. The launch date of the Note 10 is yet to be confirmed. It seems that the handset will go official within the current quarter of 2018.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/03/honor-10-gt-the-first-8-gb-ram-huawei-phone-launched/honor-10-gt-2/" rel="attachment wp-att-199382"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-199382" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-10-GT-1.jpg?x10805" alt="Honor 10 GT" width="600" height="587" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-10-GT-1.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-10-GT-1-300x294.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a><br />
In June, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor had introduced <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-play" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Honor Play</a> with GPU Turbo feature. The latter is a software and hardware optimized graphics acceleration technology that enhances the graphics performance of a smartphone by 60 percent and at the same time it consumes 30 percent less power. Huawei is in the process of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/29/huawei-confirms-gpu-turbo-technology-rollout-schedule-eligible-huawei-honor-devices/">making it available to several Huawei and Honor phones</a> through a software update.</p>
<p>Smartphones with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/gpu-turbo">GPU Turbo</a> technology can run games like King of Glory and QQ Speed with full frame rate. The single-thread performance of a GPU Turbo enabled mid-range phone can beat the performance of multi-thread performance of some flagship phones.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/03/honor-10-gt-the-first-8-gb-ram-huawei-phone-launched/honor-10-gt-power-consumption/" rel="attachment wp-att-199378"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-199378" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-10-GT-Power-Consumption.png?x10805" alt="Honor 10 GT Power Consumption" width="537" height="572" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-10-GT-Power-Consumption.png 537w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-10-GT-Power-Consumption-282x300.png 282w" sizes="(max-width: 537px) 100vw, 537px" /></a></p>
<p>The power saving feature on the Honor 10 GT ensures that its power consumption during 8 hours of standby is only 2 to 3 percent. Apart from the powerful GPU Turbo technology, the Honor 10 GT comes with 8 GB of RAM for bolstering its performance.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/03/honor-10-gt-the-first-8-gb-ram-huawei-phone-launched/honor-10-gt-8-gb-ram/" rel="attachment wp-att-199379"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-199379" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-10-GT-8-GB-RAM.png?x10805" alt="Honor 10 GT 8 GB RAM" width="539" height="583" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-10-GT-8-GB-RAM.png 539w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Honor-10-GT-8-GB-RAM-277x300.png 277w" sizes="(max-width: 539px) 100vw, 539px" /></a></p>
<p>Huawei had introduced Super Night Scene mode on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-10">Mate 10</a> for capturing beautiful night shots by using a tripod. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-p20">Huawei P20</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-p20-pro">P20 Pro</a> that were unveiled earlier this year came with AI smart anti-shake technology enabled Super Night Scene mode for shooting night shots without a tripod. <p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/03/huaweis-android-8-x-updated-devices-is-around-2-5x-industry-average-in-the-recent-years-huawei-has-been-of-the-front-running-companies-among-domestic-brands-in-china-when-it-comes-to-speed-o/ha-gang-1/" rel="attachment wp-att-199305"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-199305" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Ha-Gang-1.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="900" height="506" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Ha-Gang-1.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Ha-Gang-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Ha-Gang-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Ha-Gang-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></a></p>
<p>Ha Gang stated that the company carries out high R&amp;D investment every year for technological innovation. At the same time, the company has continued to upgrade and provide the latest technology to the old users. This improves the customer experience as new technologies are brought to older devices.</p>
<p>In the last 8 months, Huawei has released EMUI 8.0 to 20 old models. And also, 7 devices that were up to 3 years old were <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/29/7-old-huawei-smartphones-will-soon-be-upgraded-to-emui-8-0/">provided with EMUI 8.0 in the last week</a>.</p>

However, the beta testing program is currently limited to the users in China only.</p>
<p>The company has also stated that in order to be eligible for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/emui/">EMUI</a> 8.1 Beta testing on P20 and P20 Pro, the device should not be rooted. The program is allowing 2,000 participants with the P20-series smartphones.</p>

<p>Most of the changes for the EMUI 8.1 are minor but the update also brings Huawei&#8217;s &#8220;breakthrough technology&#8221; <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/06/honor-announces-gpu-turbo-a-turbocharger-for-your-smartphone-graphics/">GPU Turbo</a> which promises double-digit gains in performance and efficiency. The company claims that the technology provides 60 percent better graphics performance and 30 percent better SoC power consumption.</p>
<p>Earlier, the company had officially announced the EMUI 8.1 beta testing for the customers using the Mate-series, P-series, Honor V10, Honor 10 and Honor 9i smartphones. After the P20-series, the users of Honor 9, Honor V9, Honor Play 7X, and Honor 9 Youth Edition will get their hands on this new feature.</p>

The Chinese giant has just started the beta testing phase of this technology for the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/honor-10">Honor 10</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-191093" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Honor-10-UK.png?x10805" alt="Honor 10 UK" width="1634" height="759" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Honor-10-UK.png 1634w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Honor-10-UK-300x139.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Honor-10-UK-768x357.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Honor-10-UK-1024x476.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Honor-10-UK-1550x720.png 1550w" sizes="(max-width: 1634px) 100vw, 1634px" /></p>

Besides Honor Play and Honor 10, there will be <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-10">Huawei Mate 10</a> and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-v10">Honor V10</a>, which will get GPU Turbo by the end of June. Huawei had a conference today and it announced some new features coming to its devices including the newly announced GPU Turbo.</p>
<p>The Huawei <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-10/">Mate 10</a> series will be the first to receive the GPU Turbo update. Huawei&#8217;s GPU Turbo increases the processing power of the GPU by up to 60% while reducing power consumption by 30%. The new feature was announced last week and comes with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-play/">Honor Play</a> smartphone.</p>
<p>Since most of Huawei&#8217;s devices use in-house chipsets, they have found a way to push the feature to its other phones via a software update. The update will arrive on the Mate 10 by the end of this month.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-196106" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Huawei-GPU-Turbo-Device-List.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei GPU Turbo Device List" width="600" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Huawei-GPU-Turbo-Device-List.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Huawei-GPU-Turbo-Device-List-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Huawei-GPU-Turbo-Device-List-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>Huawei also announced other devices getting the feature and the time frame. Below are the supported devices and when they will get the update:</p>
<ol>
<li>June &#8211; Mate 10, Honor V10</li>
<li>July &#8211; P20 Series, Mate RS Porsche Design, Nova 2s, Honor 10, MediaPad M5</li>

<li>October &#8211; P10 Series, Honor 9, Honor V9</li>
<li>November &#8211;  Other Huawei devices not mentioned above</li>
</ol>
<p>Huawei also announced some new features coming to the Mate 10. First, the Mate 10 series will support cloud computing starting June 26. It will then receive the EMUI 8.1 update in mid-July which will bring 960fps slow-motion recording.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-196109" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Huawei-Mate-10-960fps-update.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Mate 10 960fps update" width="600" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Huawei-Mate-10-960fps-update.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Huawei-Mate-10-960fps-update-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Huawei-Mate-10-960fps-update-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Image-uploaded-from-iOS-14.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-194953" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Image-uploaded-from-iOS-14.jpg?x10805" alt="Honor Play 01" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Image-uploaded-from-iOS-14.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Image-uploaded-from-iOS-14-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Image-uploaded-from-iOS-14-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Image-uploaded-from-iOS-14-1024x576.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></a></p>
<p>Before we move on to the basic specs details, let&#8217;s take a look at what makes the Honor Play special.</p>
<p>The new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/honor">Honor</a> flagship is basically a gaming centric smartphone. It&#8217;s the first Honor device to feature the revolutionary <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/gpu-turbo">GPU Turbo</a> technology that enhances GPU performance significantly by increasing graphics processing efficiency by up to 60%. This results in better gaming performance than flagships such as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-8/">Xiaomi Mi 8</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-x/">iPhone X</a>, and even the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-mix-2s/">Mi Mix 2S</a>. The company revealed that the phone manages to beat these flagships in terms of frame rate and jitters, thereby giving an enhanced gaming experience on the device.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/1528253854904080.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-194955" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/1528253854904080.jpg?x10805" alt="Honor Play Purple" width="450" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/1528253854904080.jpg 450w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/1528253854904080-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/1528253854904080-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/1528253854904080-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px" /></a></p>
<p>Further, the phone boasts of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/4d">4D</a> gaming experience, powered by the same GPU Turbo technology. 4D gaming is possible because the Honor Play can detect a number of gaming scenes including shots, explosions and quakes. You also get a 3D sound experience, so you&#8217;ll be able to clearly locate the angle of firing. The phone also reportedly features a special film on its screen to reduce reflection and improve gaming experience under light. It also features in-game network optimisation which promises seamless shift from Wi-Fi to mobile data in order to ensure uninterrupted gameplay.</p>
<p>Now coming to the standard stuff, the phone has a 6.3-inch FHD+ 2340 x 1080 display with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/notch">notch</a> on top. Unlike other Honor flagships, this one features a metal back and U shaped antenna lines. The dual cameras are located on the left side while the fingerprint sensor lies around the centre at the back. There are three color options: Nebula Purple, Aurora Blue, and Midnight Black.</p>

<p>The Honor Play features the Kirin 970 chipset (Mali-G72 MP12) inside in two memory configurations (expandable up to 256GB): 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 64GB. The rear dual camera setup is average, featuring a 16MP f/2.2 primary sensor paired with a 2MP f/2.4 secondary depth sensor with support for AI shooting and AR gestures. On the front, there&#8217;s a 16MP f/2.0 sensor for selfies.</p>
<p>The phone has a decent 3750mAh battery inside which should be good enough for a day&#8217;s worth of gaming. Other features include Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi ac, and GPS. The phone is running on EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 OS.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/1528253926242613.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-194957" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/1528253926242613.jpg?x10805" alt="Honor Play Blue" width="450" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/1528253926242613.jpg 450w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/1528253926242613-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/1528253926242613-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/1528253926242613-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px" /></a></p>
<p>Honor Play is cheaper than the flagship <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-10/">Honor 10</a> model and starts at 1999 Yuan ($312) for the 4GB + 64GB variant. The 6GB + 64GB variant will cost 2399 Yuan ($375). There&#8217;s a special Honor Play Cool limited edition with a special back design that retails for 2499 Yuan ($390). The regular editions go on sale on June 11 in China, while the special limited Cool edition will go on sale in July. One more thing, you get a free TPU case inside the box.</p>

Today, the company&#8217;s online brand, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/honor">Honor</a>, has just announced a revolutionary technology called GPU Turbo that&#8217;ll change the way we look at smartphone graphics.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/kirin-670.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-177453" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/kirin-670.jpg?x10805" alt="kirin 670 details" width="600" height="337" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/kirin-670.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/kirin-670-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>As the world moves towards a more visual medium, smartphone UIs have become more intuitive, fluid, as well as lively. You have animations in almost every step of the interface, adding to a more natural user experience. And as phones are becoming more powerful, graphics intensive games have started to gain popularity. In these times, there&#8217;s often the conflict of how much graphics is good enough on smartphones. The conflict is not just about the right amount of GPU power but also about how efficient is the GPU and a balance has to be met for the best user experience. Honor claims that this balance is just about to be disturbed with its revolutionary GPU Turbo technology.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/gpu-turbo">GPU Turbo</a> is special because it dramatically increases the Graphics Processing Efficiency on smartphones, thereby allowing smartphones to run heavier graphic intensive games without significantly affecting battery life. If you are looking for numbers, then this new tech from Huawei and Honor manages to increase graphics processing efficiency by 60% and reduces SoC power consumption by 30%. These are some significant numbers which when put in real life situations should give you a remarkable boost in graphics performance.</p>
<p>At today&#8217;s event, Huawei&#8217;s Richard Yu mentioned that with GPU Turbo, mid-range Honor smartphones&#8217; single-thread performance can even beat multi-thread GPU performance of some flagship phones in the market today. This technology allows heavy smartphone games to run at higher fps than competitors. Further, it brings HDR picture quality and special effects in gaming making the overall experience rich and fluid.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/honor-8.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-189154" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/honor-8.jpg?x10805" alt="honor 8" width="770" height="433" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/honor-8.jpg 770w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/honor-8-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/honor-8-768x432.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px" /></a></p>
<p>The company managed to achieve this by restructuring the traditional graphics framework at the lower level system. The technology relies on hardware-software integrated GPU acceleration. It will benefit mobile games that require high level of graphics processing efficiency. Honor adds that GPU Turbo can support AR and VR in the future and it can be applied in the sectors including virtual teaching, online shopping and telemedicine.</p>
<p>To put very simply, it looks like Huawei has found a way to tweak how the GPU handles graphics processing to enhance its efficiency to a significant extent. Think of this tech as a smartphone turbocharger. What&#8217;s really exciting is that the existing hardware will also get the benefit of the GPU Turbo. Considering how a lot of Honor and Huawei smartphones feature the same chipset, it&#8217;s likely that a number of Honor phones will get this new technology.</p>
<p>GPU Turbo will first make it to the Honor Play smartphone that was announced today. Other Honor devices including<span data-doc-id="4397000229230943"> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-10/">Honor 10</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/honor-view-10/">Honor View 10</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/honor-9-lite/">Honor 9</a></span> Lite and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/honor-7x/">Honor 7X</a> are confirmed to get this technological upgrade soon. So, this ground breaking tech is not just limited to the company&#8217;s flagship phones!</p>
<p>Huawei has made a habit of delivering breakthrough technology in smartphones, so I&#8217;m excited to see how GPU Turbo boosts smartphone performance in real life.</p>
