Oppo’s ColorOS is a feature-rich Android skin that offers a wealth of customization options and intelligent tools. The company is all about adding new stuff to make its interface better for people. And it’s not just for Oppo phones—it’s also what you find on Realme and OnePlus devices (kind of like the underlying structure). Recently, there have been reports of a new feature called Holo Audio being developed for ColorOS.

A reliable tipster @1NormalUsername spotted a string related to the Holo Audio feature in the upcoming Oxygen OS 14 beta release. Android Authority shared a few of these strings, which provide some clues about what the feature could be.

Holo Audio essentially merges the feature of dual-audio playback with spatial audio. This means that users can play two different audio sources at the same time, and each source can be placed in a different location in the 3D audio space around them. 

The feature will also have an auto mode that will automatically place the audio sources in the optimal locations based on the user’s surroundings. This mode is ideal for users who don’t want to bother with manual selection.

As mentioned in the strings, Holo Audio does not support game audio at this time, but it will support audiobooks, VoIP calls, music, navigation, and video playback. The strings that were spotted also indicate that it will work with headphones only and not through the phone speaker. Thus, you might need compatible audio products that support spatial audio, such as the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, to enjoy this feature. 

However, it is unclear whether the Holo Audio feature will be available on existing phones and compatible earbuds, or if it will be reserved for future devices. Additionally, the feature was spotted on OxygenOS, but it is present in the ColorOS base. This means that it could arrive on either OPPO, Realme, and OnePlus smartphones, or all of them.
