<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> smartphones run the company’s own HarmonyOS operating system, which is not based on Google’s Android. Over the past few years, the brand has significantly improved its in-house OS and the latest version— HarmonyOS 3— brings plenty of new stuff. Recently, Huawei started releasing new lock screen optimizations for a sizable number of smartphones running HarmonyOS 3.</p>

<p>Huawei has started rolling out the HarmonyOS 3.0.0.192 update in China, which brings the December 2022 security patch and new lock screen optimizations. It also revamps the user experience of the phone clone feature.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/harmony-os-1024x576.webp?x10805" alt="harmony-os" class="wp-image-507820" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/harmony-os-1024x576.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/harmony-os-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/harmony-os-768x432.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/harmony-os-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/harmony-os-1068x601.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/harmony-os-747x420.webp 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/harmony-os.webp 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The new changes are being implemented on the devices mentioned below:</p>

<ul><li>Huawei P40</li><li>Huawei P40 Pro</li><li>Huawei P40 Pro+</li><li>Huawei P40 4G</li><li>Huawei Mate 30</li><li>Huawei Mate 30 Pro</li><li>Huawei Mate 30 RS Porsche Design</li><li>Huawei Mate 30 4G</li><li>Huawei Mate 30 Pro 4G</li><li>Huawei Mate 30E Pro 5G</li><li>Huawei Mate Xs</li><li>Huawei Nova 10</li><li>Huawei Nova 10 Pro</li><li>Huawei Nova 9</li><li>Huawei Nova 9 Pro</li></ul>

<p>In order to receive the HarmonyOS 3.0.0.192, users first need to download the base build. If you own the above-mentioned devices, you can check for the update by Settings &gt; System and Updates &gt; Software Updates &gt; Check for Updates.</p>

<p>The new build will not delete the existing data of the device but it is still recommended to keep a backup, just in case.</p>

<p>To recall, HarmonyOS 3 brings several new features and an improved user interface. It includes smart folders, widget grouping, stacking, and better system security. Last month, the Chinese company even released a new feature called Turbo charge to the flagship Mate 50, P50, and Mate 40 series. It allows users to customize the charging UI.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-495289" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>As reported by <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/653/455.htm">ITHome</a>, the spokesperson noted that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos-3/">HarmonyOS 3</a> Public Beta will be available for the 4th batch of Huawei devices starting this November. Owners of these 3 <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/653/455.htm">Huawei</a> smartphones (Huawei Nova 8, Nova 8 Pro, Nova 8 Pro 4G) will be able to apply for HarmonyOS 3 Public Beta by the end of this November, whilst for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-nova-8-se/">Huawei nova 8 SE</a> and Huawei Nova 8 SE Vitality Edition, the HarmonyOS 3 Public Beta will be available starting early 2023.</p>

<p>Besides these 5 Huawei devices, <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/653/455.htm">Huawei</a> also earlier announced last week that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos-3/">HarmonyOS 3</a> Stable had been rolled out to 15 Huawei device models this November. The full list is linked in <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/11/13/3-year-old-huawei-mate-30-harmonyos-3-update/">this article here</a>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="600" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/huawei-nova-8.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-495462" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/huawei-nova-8.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/huawei-nova-8-300x300.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/huawei-nova-8-150x150.png 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/huawei-nova-8-420x420.png 420w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /><figcaption>Source: Huawei</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>For those unfamiliar with Huawei’s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos/">HarmonyOS</a> software development rollout, it can be easily explained in 3 easy to read paragraphs.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos/">HarmonyOS</a> rollout is divided into 3 stages, a closed beta, a public beta, and a stable version rollout. In the closed beta version rollout, Huawei device users can opt-in for early access software development to try out the new features due to be added in the next major software update. Interested participants first need to go to settings and apply for the closed beta programme, and then once <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/653/455.htm">Huawei</a> has approved the application, only then the closed beta update will roll out to the user’s device. Normally, only 2000 users will be selected for the closed beta programme.</p>

<p>For the next stage – the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos/">HarmonyOS</a> public beta rollout, there is no limit to how many Huawei users can join the programme. Users can opt-in for the update via settings at any time. However, <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/653/455.htm">Huawei</a> does suggest users who opt-in for the public beta back up their devices beforehand, as it is still not a stable release. Just like the closed beta, Huawei users can experience upcoming software features before the stable release and the main purpose of releasing a public beta first is to iron out any bugs and stability issues before rolling it out for all users.</p>

<p>In the final stage, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos/">HarmonyOS</a> is rolled out to all Huawei device users with a stable version release. The update will include notable features found in the closed and public beta testing, as well as security updates, stability and bug fixes for all Huawei users over the air.</p>

<p>Starting this November, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/">Huawei</a> is officially rolling out the stable release of its latest and greatest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos-3/">HarmonyOS 3</a> OS upgrade to the brand’s flagship device users in China. </p>

<p>According to the HarmonyOS software development team’s <a href="https://weibo.com/3514064555/MepIhcTFu">official Weibo account</a>, the stable update will be available to Huawei&#8217;s latest releases as well as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-30/">Huawei Mate 30</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-30-pro-5g/">Mate 30 Pro 5G</a> smartphones, which were released 3 years ago back in 2019.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="973" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-devices-thumbnail-973x1024.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-495288" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-devices-thumbnail-973x1024.jpg 973w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-devices-thumbnail-285x300.jpg 285w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-devices-thumbnail-768x809.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-devices-thumbnail-696x733.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-devices-thumbnail-1068x1124.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-devices-thumbnail-399x420.jpg 399w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-devices-thumbnail.jpg 1079w" sizes="(max-width: 973px) 100vw, 973px" /></figure>

<p>The full list of devices eligible to upgrade from HarmonyOS 2 to HarmonyOS 3 is as follows:</p>

<ol><li>Huawei Mate 30</li><li>Huawei Mate 30 5G</li><li>Huawei Mate 30 Pro</li><li>Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G</li><li>Huawei Mate 30E Pro 5G</li><li>Huawei Mate 30 RS Porsche Design</li><li>Huawei Mate Xs</li><li>Huawei P40</li><li>Huawei P40 4G</li><li>Huawei P40 Pro</li><li>Huawei P40 Pro Plus</li><li>Huawei Nova 9</li><li>Huawei Nova 9 Pro</li><li>Huawei Nova 10</li><li>Huawei Nova 10 Pro</li></ol>

<p>In addition to the stable release rollout announcement, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/">Huawei</a> also shared that it has opened applications for its public beta programme for HarmonyOS 3.0 to Huawei MatePad 10.8-inch, Huawei MatePad Pro 10.8-inch and Huawei MatePad Pro 5G 10.8-inch users, as well as an early access closed beta programme for Huawei Nova 6, Nova 6 5G, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-nova-7-5g/">Nova 7 5G</a>, and Nova 7 Pro 5G users for Huawei fans who cannot wait to experience the latest HarmonyOS 3 features before a stable release.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-495289" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HarmonyOS-3.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>HarmonyOS 3. Source: Huawei</figcaption></figure>

<p>The new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos-3/">HarmonyOS 3</a> upgrade brings several next-generation software updates that range from decently cool to life-changing. One particular highlight is that in HarmonyOS 3, HarmonyOS devices don’t need to be on a shared Wi-Fi network for seamless interconnectivity to work, the devices can now sense each other. One example is a Huawei tablet next to a Huawei phone will be able to let you answer calls and will display SMS messages as if they were the same device.</p>

Ahead of the imminent launch, a Huawei official has shared a video showcasing the new interface and features of the upcoming operating system. Let’s check out the details.</p>
<p>Richard Yu, CEO of the Consumer BG at Huawei Technologies, shared a video of a user’s mobile on his <a href="https://m.weibo.cn/status/4795051135205441">Weibo</a> handle, revealing the new design of HarmonyOS 3 in advance. Mr Yu said that the latest version of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos">HarmonyOS</a> will not only retain the unique features like the universal card and smart folder but also take them to a next level. The new version of the OS will offer a more convenient experience for combining and stacking cards, supporting more sizes of smart folders, and more.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-472269" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/HarmonyOS-3-design-changes.jpg?x10805" alt="HarmonyOS 3 design changes" width="720" height="577" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/HarmonyOS-3-design-changes.jpg 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/HarmonyOS-3-design-changes-300x240.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/HarmonyOS-3-design-changes-696x558.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/HarmonyOS-3-design-changes-524x420.jpg 524w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></p>
<p>It can be seen in the video that the universal card feature in the HarmonyOS 3 has a lot of customization and it supports the combining and stacking of cards. Moreover, it allows the small components of the same size to be combined at the same time, improving efficiency and personalization.</p>
<p>

<p>The video suggests that with HarmonyOS 3, users will be able to adjust the size of the desktop folder. This also means that the smart folders will support more sizes. Overall, the new update is expected to bring significant upgrades in terms of layout, security, and operations.</p>
<p>As mentioned, Huawei will launch the latest iteration of its operating system on July 27. The company is also expected to launch Huawei MatePad, MateBook, smart screen, printer, and more on the same date.</p>
<p>Earlier this month, the company started rolling the developer beta version of HarmonyOS 3 to devices including the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/02/09/huawei-p50-pro-p50-pocket-available-globally-prices/">P50 series</a>, the Mate 40 series, and the MatePad Pro 12.6-inch 2021 model. The update log showed major improvements in interaction design, multi-device interconnection, performance, and user support.</p>

<p>The company has announced through its official Weibo account that the official launch of the next-generation <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos">HarmonyOS</a> 3 will take place on 27th July.</p>

<p>With the new HarmonyOS 3, the company claims to being some new features to the operating system, including an experience for connections, pages, collaboration, and some other major aspects of UX.</p>
<p>The market share of the operating system appears to be growing as Yu Chengdon of Huawei had earlier claimed that there are more than 300 million devices running HarmonyOS, which includes 200 million devices in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ecosystem">ecosystem</a> and 100 million third-party products from its partners.</p>

<p>In addition to this new version of the company&#8217;s self-developed operating system, Huawei is also gearing up to launch a few more products at the launch event, including the company&#8217;s first <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/smart-tv">Smart TV</a> powered by HarmonyOS 3.</p>

During this interview, Yu stated that the Chinese tech giant could launch its proprietary operating system for its global users next year. For those unaware, HarmonyOS (also known as HongMengOS in China) is already available in the company&#8217;s home market.</p>

The senior official further added that the current version of HarmonyOS has primarily been focused for Chinese users, but have already been installed by over 100 million users.
