In addition, it bears similarities with the Spark Go 2023. Hence, it appears that the Spark Go 2023 and Pop 7 Pro may mainly differ in departments like RAM and storage.

Yesterday, GizmoChina carried an exclusive post to reveal that the Tecno Pop 7 Pro will debut this month, and as can be seen in the tweet, the company has confirmed that it will launch next week. In Africa, the device is available in black, blue, and purple.

Poco India has released the first teaser for the Poco C50 in India. Hence, it appears that it will be one of the first smartphones to land in India in January 2023. Like the Poco C40, which was an entry-level smartphone, the Poco C50 is said to pack modest specs.

The Poco C50 teaser released by Poco India does not reveal anything about its specifications. However, it does hint that the device will have a dual-camera unit. Several reports have claimed that the C50 will be nothing but a rebranded version of the Redmi A1+, which went official in India in October this year.

A recent report claimed that the Poco C50 will debut on Jan. 3 in India. Hence, the company is expected to confirm its launch date in a day or two. The Redmi A1+ variants, such as 2 GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage, were priced at Rs 7,499 (~$91) and Rs 8,499 (~$102), respectively. Coolpad has a new entry-level device that is now available for pre-order on JD.com. The phone, which is called the Cool 9, shares a similar design to the Cool 3 which launched in India back in February.

The Cool 9 has a 5.71-inch display with a 1520 x 720 resolution and a waterdrop notch. Coolpad says the phone has a 90.3% screen to body ratio and a 19:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the Helio A22 processor and has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage with support for expansion.

There is a 5MP camera in front for selfies and a 13MP + 0.3MP dual camera combo on the rear. The Cool 9 has dual SIM support (nano-only), LTE support, an audio jack, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and Face Unlock. It packs a 3000mAh battery that charges via a MicroUSB port. The phone runs COOL UI 9.0 based on Android 9.0.

Earlier in this month, Huawei had launched the Huawei Y6 (2019) smartphone in China. The same phone has gone official in Pakistan as Huawei Y6 Prime (2019). The major highlights of the Y6 Prime (2019) include waterdrop-style display with big screen area and Helio A22 SoC.

The Huawei Y6 Prime (2019) has arrived with a 6.09-inh IPS LCD panel that offers HD+ resolution of 720 x 1560 pixels along with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The smartphone offers a screen-to-body ratio of 87 percent. The TUV Rheinland certified display can effectively block harmful blue rays emitted from the screen.  The Helio A22 chipset that comprises of 2.0 GHz octa-core processor and PowerVR GE8320 graphics drives the smartphone with 2 GB of RAM.’

The smartphone is equipped with a native storage of 32 GB. There is a microSD card slot on the device for extra storage. The EMUI 9.0 based Android 9 Pie OS comes preloaded on the device. The handset is equipped with a 3,020mAh battery.

An f/1.8 aperture 13-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash is available on the backside of the Huawei Y6 Prime (2019). Placed inside the selfie notch on the front is an 8-megapixel selfie snapper that is accompanied by a front flash toning light. A fingerprint reader is available on the rear shell of the device. The other features of the Huawei Y6 Prime (2019) include face unlock, built-in FM radio, Histen 5.0 audio technology and Party mode. The smartphone measures 156.28 x 73.5 x 8mm and it weighs 150 grams.

The Chinese manufacturer is known for launching same phones in multiple countries with different monikers. The Huawei Y6 Pro (2019) that was unveiled in Sri Lanka and Philippines in the recent months has same specs as Y6 (2019). However, the Pro model lack support for fingerprint scanner, but comes with 3 GB of RAM.

MediaTek, the Taiwan-based chipset manufacturer, has today officially released a statement saying that the rumors related to the company terminating its partnership with Xiaomi are not true.

The development comes after reports emerging online which suggested that MediaTek has terminated its partnership with Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi and will no longer provide its mobile chipsets. Debunking that, MediaTek said that their relationship is good and the partnership is going on smoothly as usual and there’s no suspension of supply.

Currently, there are two Xiaomi smartphones that are powered by MediaTek’s chipsets — Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Xiaomi Redmi 6A. While the Redmi 6 is powered by Helio P22 chipset manufactured using a 12nm process, the Redmi 6A is powered by Helio A22 processor.

MediaTek’s chipsets are mostly used to power low-end and mid-range smartphones and the company has not yet launched a high-end chipset that could power flagship smartphones. In December 2018, the company reported consolidated revenue of 21.387 billion Taiwan dollars, representing an increase of 14.66 percent.

The company’s consolidated revenue in the four quarter of 2018 was 60.891 billion Taiwan dollars, which represents a decline of 9.2 percent. According to data released by China Science and Technology Institute, China’s smartphone shipments fell by 15.5 percent, and annual shipments fell to 390 million units.

Like many other technology companies, MediaTek is also involved in patent litigation. AMD has reportedly filed a lawsuit against MediaTek among others and alleged two patent infringements related to GPU/APU technology and is looking for cash compensation.

In June, Lenovo had launched the Lenovo A5 smartphone in China and in October it was made available in India. It was low budget phone that came with a starting price of 599 Yuan (~$88). Fresh information shared by 91Mobiles reveals that the Chinese manufacturer is working on a smartphone called Lenovo A5s. The leaked specs of the unannounced phone suggest that it will be an upgraded version of the Lenovo A5.

The Lenovo A5s was recently certified by Indonesia’s TKDN body and Bluetooth SIG authority. These certifications had confirmed the existence of the Lenovo A5s. The publication has shared new details on the specifications of the smartphone.

It claims that the Lenovo A5s will be arriving with a display that will offer an aspect ratio of 18:9 with thick bezels at the top and bottom. The exact size of the display of the Lenovo A5s is not known, but it is known that it will carry support for HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels.

The leak further reveals that the Lenovo A5s will be powered by MediaTek MT6761 which is nothing but the Helio A22 SoC. It will be assisted by 2 GB of RAM. The handset will come preinstalled with Android 9 Pie OS. There is no information available on the other specs of the Lenovo A5s.

The inclusion of the Helio A22 indicates that the Lenovo A5s will indeed arrive as a higher version of the Lenovo A5. The leaked image shown above reveals that the Lenovo A5s suggests that its front design will be almost same as the A5 smartphone.

The Lenovo A5 with 3 GB of RAM along with 16 GB and 32 GB storage choices. Hence, there could be a 3 GB RAM edition of the upcoming Lenovo A5s. It could be one of the first Lenovo phones to go official this year. More details of the smartphone are expected to surface through forthcoming leaks.

In China, Vivo had launched the Vivo Y93 smartphone and few weeks late it had introduced the Vivo Y93s model. The Vivo Y93 is now listed on the official website of Vivo India. The specifications page of the smartphone reveals that the Vivo Y93s handset has been introduced in India as Vivo Y93.

The Vivo Y93 measures 155.11 x 75.09 x 8.28mm and it weighs 163.5 grams. The handset features 6.22-inch IPS In-Cell display that supports HD+ resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels.

The MediaTek Helio P22 chipset drives the Vivo Y93 handset along with 4 GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 32 GB. The handset is packed with a 4,030mAh battery. The big battery lacks support for fast charging. The FunTouch OS 4.5 that is based on Android 8.1 Oreo is available preinstalled on the Vivo Y93. The Vivo Y93 also features Jovi Smart Scene assistant. The Smart Split screen allow users to take advantage of the split-screen mode. The smartphone is equipped with a microSD card slot for additional storage.

The Vivo Y93 features 13-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 2-megapixel sensor with f/2.4 aperture in its rear-mounted dual camera setup. Following the success of its P-series and S-series chipsets, Taiwanese semiconductor company MediaTek has launched yet another chipset series — Helio A series, which is aimed at “mid-market”. The first chipset in the series is Helio A22 which looks like a cheaper counterpart of the previously launched Helio P22 SoC.

The MediaTek Helio A22 is an entry-level SoC which comes with a simple quad-core A53 design. It seems like the Helio A22 a successor of the MT6738/MT6739. It is also clear that the company is planning to phase out the MTxxxx product numbers and replace it with X/P/A series, making its SoC lot clearer about which market and performance segments it’s meant to fit.

As said, it has Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs with MediaTek CorePilot and flexible LPDDR3/LPDDR4x memory controller. It will be paired with Imagination PowerVR GE8320 GPU, a single cluster GPU design that was released last year. It supports HD+ screen with 1600 x 720 pixels resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio as well as 13MP + 8MP dual camera setup or a single 21MP sensor.

Manufactured using TSMC‘s 12nm process, the company claims that the CPU performance is up to 30 percent faster and GPU up to an incredible 72 percent faster than the direct alternative, which should be the Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 425 SoC.

It also comes with a few AI-based enhancements such as Face ID (or Face Unlock) and smart photo albums. There’s also MediaTek NeuroPilot support, which allows developers and device makers to have the best possible AI-ecosystem, with support for common AI frameworks and full compliance with Android Neural Networks API.

For cellular networking, the Helio A22 will support LTE Category 7 downloads and Category 13 uploads, allowing for download rates upwards of 300Mbps and upload rates of 150Mbps. It is a dual-SIM product and supports VoLTE on both networks. As for the Bluetooth, it supports Bluetooth 5.0. MediaTek will be offering a cheaper version of the A22 SoC with LTE Category 4 support that doesn’t require carrier aggregation.

The first smartphone running on MediaTek’s Helio A22 chipset has already been launched. Xioami’s Redmi 6A is powered by Helio A22 SoC, which is currently retailing in China for 699 Yuan, which roughly converts to $106. More entry-level smartphones powered by this chipset are expected to launch this year and next year.

Xiaomi had been using Snapdragon chipsets for its Redmi phones since the past few years, but after a long time it has used MediaTek SoCs on Redmi 6 and 6A smartphones. Fresh information reveals that the MediaTek SoC powered Redmi 6 and 6A phones may debut in India in September.

Since 2014, Xiaomi has been launching Snapdragon powered smartphones in India. The reason behind it is that Ericsson had filed a case in 2014 which prevented Xiaomi from launching phones fueled by MediaTek SoCs in India. The companies involved in the legal battle have settled the issue which Xiaomi is allowed to launch phones with MediaTek chipsets in India.

The Redmi 5 smartphone was launched in India in March while the modest Redmi 5A was introduced in November last year. Hence, the Chinese manufacturer is unlikely to launch Redmi 6 and 6A phones early in India. According to 91Mobiles, these budget-friendly smartphones may get announced in September. As of this writing, there is no information available on the Indian arrival of Redmi 6 Pro.

The Redmi 6 and 6A phones feature 5.45-inch IPS LCD display that produces 18:9 aspect ratio and HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The Redmi 6 is powered by Helio P22 whereas the 6A phone has Helio A22. The Redmi 6 smartphone has 2 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 16 GB. On the other side, the Redmi 6 comes in two models such as 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of inbuilt storage and 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage.

The Redmi 6 has 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup on its back and a 5-megapxiel selfie camera. The Redmi 6A features a 13-megapixel rear camera and a front snapper of 5-megapixel. Both the phones are driven by 3,000mAh batteries. The Redmi 6 duo are running on MIUI 9 flavored Android 8.1 Oreo OS.

There is no information on the pricing of Redmi 6 and 6A phones for India. In China, the Redmi 6A is available for 599 Yuan (~$90) whereas the 32 GB and 64 GB variants of Redmi 6 are respectively priced at 799 Yuan (~$120) and 999 Yuan (~$150).

Due to a case filed by Ericsson in 2014, Xiaomi is barred from launching phones powered by MediaTek chipsets in India. After the 2014 verdict, Xiaomi has been launching only Snapdragon chipset powered phones in India. However, now that the companies involved in the legal battle have reached a settlement, India will soon MediaTek powered phones from Xiaomi. Probably, Xiaomi may begin by launching the Redmi 6 and 6A phones in India.

During the recently held Computex 2018 event, David Ku who is the Chief Financial Officer with MediaTek had revealed that the lawsuit filed by Ericsson on Xiaomi has been settled and the latter is allowed to use MediaTek chipsets on phones heading to India. He even added that Xiaomi will be soon launching a MediaTek chipset-based smartphone in India. However, he refrained from revealing the name of the MediaTek SoC powered phone that will be debuting soon in India.

The Redmi Note 4 from 2016 is the last Xiaomi phone featuring a MediaTek chipset. This edition was launched in China. As far as India is concerned, the first-generation Redmi Note that was launched in 2014 with MT6592 SoC onboard is the last MediaTek powered phone for the country.

The recently unveiled Xiaomi Redmi 6 is one of the first smartphones to feature the new 10nm Helio P22 SoC designed for mid-range phones. Also, the Redmi 6A is the first phone ever to be driven by the new Helio A22 SoC. With the lawsuit settled, it appears that Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A arriving in India may not feature Snapdragon SoCs.

As of this writing, there is no information on when the Chinese manufacturer will be bringing Redmi 6 and 6A phones to the Indian market. India had received the Redmi 5A in November 2017 and Redmi 5 in March this year. Hence, the Indian arrival of Redmi 6 and 6A could be few months away.
