The chips in this category include the Helio P10 and Helio P15 and are made by TSMC.</p>
<p>The reduction in orders total 20,000 wafers which is about 30% of the their total wafer for the process each quarter and are for the months of June, July, and August.</p>

<p>Some say the reduction is to allow for an increase in the production of other more efficient 16nm chips that can compete with 14nm chips from Qualcomm such as the Snapdragon 626 and Snapdragon 660.</p>
<p>Others also say the reduction is part of a move by Mediatek to be conservative about its business in Q3 2017. The semiconductor manufacturer is set to hold an investors&#8217; meeting on the 28th of April where it will discuss its Q1 performance.</p>

<p>Mediatek recorded NT$56.08 Billion in revenue in the first quarter of the year. Although the figure represents a 0.3% increase compared to the same period last year, it is an 18.3% reduction from that of the previous quarter.</p>

The mid-range Motorola Moto M has been officially listed on China&#8217;s Tmall with a somewhat high price tag of 1999 Yuan ($295).</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/moto-m-3/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106121" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/moto-m.jpg?x44794" alt="mototrola moto m" width="1015" height="568" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/moto-m.jpg 1015w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/moto-m-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/moto-m-768x430.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1015px) 100vw, 1015px" /></a></p>
<p>For a 1999 Yuan device, the specifications really didn&#8217;t fly. The Moto M comes in with a 5.5-inch display with Full HD (1080 pixels) resolution. The device is powered by an Octa-core MediaTek Helio P15 chip clocked at 2.2GHz which is a bit strange on a Motorola device. The processor is complemented by an exorbitant 4GB RAM and in terms of storage, there is 32GB of internal storage.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/moto-m4/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106118" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/moto-m4.jpg?x44794" alt="motorola moto m" width="790" height="1126" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/moto-m4.jpg 790w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/moto-m4-210x300.jpg 210w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/moto-m4-768x1095.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/moto-m4-718x1024.jpg 718w" sizes="(max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /></a></p>
<p>The Motorola Moto M  adopts a splash-proof all-metal body with P2i hydrophobic coating and there is a rear fingerprint sensor on the device.The Moto M also features a cool 16MP rear camera with LED flash, Dolby Atmos sound, dual SIM slots and a 3,050mAh battery.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/moto-m2/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106116" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/moto-m2.jpg?x44794" alt="motorola moto m" width="790" height="916" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/moto-m2.jpg 790w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/moto-m2-259x300.jpg 259w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/moto-m2-768x890.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /></a></p>
<p>Basically, nothing tickles on the device for that price, when compared to other moderately priced devices like the Xiaomi Mi 5s which packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, and a front ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, not forgetting the LeEco Pro 3 also having a cheap price tag. Perhaps the Moto M would perform better in other markets outside China.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">First on the list is the audio of the phone. The Moto M will come with Dolby Atmos, providing 360° surround sound when you watch videos or listen to music.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">
<p style="text-align: justify">
<p style="text-align: justify">Another feature is the waterproof dual nano-coating which protects the phone from splashes and light showers. So you shouldn&#8217;t worry about whipping out your phone and making a call if there&#8217;s a drizzle but just don&#8217;t take it for a swim.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">Lenovo also says the Moto M&#8217;s 3050mAh battery supports fast charging. We assume this to be Motorola&#8217;s Turbo Power fast charge technology which is similar to Quick Charge 2.0.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The Moto M has full network support, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/volte/">VoLTE</a>, dual nano-sim slots, and offers download speeds of up to 300Mbps. The main camera is a 16MP sensor with PDAF, CCT, fast focus, and a LED flash. The camera up front is an 8MP shooter with an 85° viewing angle which should suffice for selfies.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">Other details already known include the 5.5&#8221; FHD display, a 2.2GHz octa-core <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/10/17/mediatek-announces-helio-p15-soc-succeed-helio-p10/">Helio P15</a> processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">The Moto M will be available in Gold and Silver variants and is expected to be priced at about 1999 Yuan (roughly $300) which puts it in the mid-range category. While there are phones with more powerful features that sell for less, Motorola may still score a win in China with the device amongst those who are fans of their almost-stock android UI and lack of bloatware.</p>

Other details gotten from that leak include the ROM (32GB) and the screen resolution (1920 x 1080). Today, an unknown source has revealed more photos of the device and leaked some important details.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-104588 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Moto-M-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto M" width="600" height="799" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Moto-M-1.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Moto-M-1-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">When news of the Moto M first surfaced a few months ago, we learnt it was going to sport a Mediatek processor. The source says the processor in the phone may be recently announced <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/10/17/mediatek-announces-helio-p15-soc-succeed-helio-p10/">Helio P15</a> chip. The Helio P15 is the successor to the P10, sporting the same octa-core setup but featuring a higher clocked CPU (2.2GHz) and GPU (800MHz). If this turns out to be true, Lenovo&#8217;s new device will be one of the first phones to sport the new chip.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-104589" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Moto-M-2.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto M" width="600" height="335" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Moto-M-2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Moto-M-2-300x168.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">A possible price point for the phone was disclosed too. The Moto M is expected to be priced at 1999 Yuan ($295) which is expensive. Apart from the near stock android experience <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/motorola/">Motorola</a> phones are known for, there isn&#8217;t any special feature the Moto M is bringing to the table. Right now, a couple of Snapdragon 820 phones are even priced at less than $280.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">The Moto M is also rumoured to be one of the first phones from the company to be bundled with <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/microsoft/">Microsoft</a> apps following an agreement between Lenovo and the Redmond company. The apps which include Microsoft Office, Skype, and OneDrive will possibly only appear on the international variant though.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The Moto M&#8217;s official release date has not been disclosed yet but should not be too far since it has received its TENAA certification.</p>

But what&#8217;s new about the Helio P15 is what is important.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-102992 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/mediatek-helio-P15-696x315.jpg?x44794" alt="Helio P15" width="696" height="315" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/mediatek-helio-P15-696x315.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/mediatek-helio-P15-696x315-300x136.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The new chip has a higher clock speed of 2.2GHz and its Mali-T860 GPU also gets clocked higher at 800MHz compared to the 2.0GHz and 700MHz CPU and GPU clock speeds of the Helio P10. So this new chip offers a 10% increase in performance. However, Mediatek says the P15 offers a more optimal power performance. Mediatek didn&#8217;t reveal any new details about the modem, so we are assuming it still remains LTE Cat-6.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">This is the fifth chip following the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/02/22/mediatek-launches-power-efficient-helio-p20-chip-mwc-2016/">Helio P20</a>/P25 and Helio X30/X35 that Mediatek has announced in recent months.
