Hypertension is often considered to be a silent killer as it is a major risk factor for diseases such as stroke, heart disease, and kidney failure, without obvious symptoms. The lifestyle of career men and women in this digital era helps promote unhealthy behavior such as irregular sleep/rest, improper diet, lack of exercise, etc. Thus, it is easy to ignore the signs of high blood pressure until it becomes too late, sometimes with catastrophic consequences.

Xiaomi‘s ecological company Hipee known for its medical products has launched a new watch that helps users check their blood pressure. The product is dubbed Hipee Smart Blood Pressure Watch and is capable of 24-hour dynamic blood pressure tracking. It is priced at just 499 yuan (~$77) and is presently open for backing at the Youpin platform.

The blood pressure doesn’t remain stable all the time as it is dependent on the emotional state of the individual as well as the state of health. Thus, it is important to check regularly. 

The Hipee Smart Blood Pressure Watch uses core biosensing technology, oscillometric technology, automatic pressurization technology, etc., supplemented by soft silicone pressurized airbags, allowing the sensor to monitor more accurately. The watch is said to have a static accuracy range of ±3mmHg.

Further, the BP-checking watch has three modes: cycle detection mode, timing measurement mode, and routine blood pressure detection. Users can switch between the desired modes at will.

In terms of the design, the watch has an exclusive one-piece design that is not only easy to wear but also compact and light to carry. It has a square shape and looks quite bulky, weighing 76g. The watch starts monitoring the BP once the user raises the hand to the chest, with the palm lying flat on his breast. This is convenient and fast as it removes the need to navigate through the interface in order to select the BP check feature.

The Hipee watch connects to a companion smartphone through Bluetooth. It charges via a USB 2.0 port but the battery capacity is still unknown. Inside the retail box are a USB cable, a user guide card, and the watch itself.

HiPee, one of the companies under Xiaomi’s ecosystem, has a new health product. The HiPee Dynamic ECG Recorder, as it is called, provides 24/7 heart rate monitoring and sends the data to a connected phone.

This is not HiPee’s first ECG product as it announced the HiPee Smart ECG Wizard last year. The new Dynamic ECG Recorder is attached to the chest, just above where your heart is, with a disposable electrode. Male users have to place it at an angle of 45° to their sternum while female users are to place it at an angle of 30° to their sternum. The HiPee Dynamic ECG Recorder is then paired to the user’s phone.

The recorder not only measures heart rate but also provides real-time medical-level ECG monitoring with a professional report. According to the manufacturer, it can detect up to 24 different types of heart problems. If it detects an irregular heartbeat, it notifies the user along with a message to see a doctor. The app also shows other details including the battery level of the device, so you know when it needs to be recharged.

Another feature of the app is support for family access. What this means is that up to two members can access the data from the device from their own devices.  This comes in handy if the user is an elderly parent. The app will also notify the selected family members if an issue is detected.

The device comes in a storage box that also doubles as the charger. The box charges via USB-C and comes with cable is included. HiPee says charging the device takes three hours and a full charge should provide 24 hours of use. The ECG recorder has an IPX7 rating, so you do not need to take it off when swimming or taking a shower. It weighs 8.9 grams and is 6.2 millimeters thick. Included in the box are five disposable electrodes.

The HiPee Dynamic ECG Recorder is listed on the Youpin store for crowdfunding for ¥499 (~$73) but will sell for ¥899 (~$132) when it launches. Owners will be able to buy extra electrodes but there is no info on the price yet. The monitor is expected to start shipping before the end of October.

Xiaomi’s ecological chain partner HiPee has launched a new medical product dubbedHiPee Smart ECG Wizard. Just as the name implies, the ECG Wizard is to monitor the heart rate of users right from the home. HPee is gaining popularity in the aspect of smart medical products. The company had first launched a smart pillbox as well as a Smart health check-up gadget that looks more like a digital thermometer.

The Smart ECG Wizard makes it easy to monitor the electrocardiogram reading of the heart and the result is displayed in a smartphone. The device is very small and can fit into a purse or pocket easily. It weighs just 33g. To use it, all you need do is place your two first fingers on the pad and wait for some time while the device gets a reading.

The HiPee Smart ECG Wizard provides medical-level ECG monitoring and it stores the reading so that it can be used to consult a doctor. Also, if a heart defect is detected, the device will issue a warning to the user so as to seek medical care.

The smart ECG comes with Bluetooth connectivity through which it can be paired with a smartphone. There should also be a dedicated app where the reading can be viewed on a smartphone. The device also comes with a durable battery that can last up to two months.

Electrocardiogram (ECG) monitors like the HiPee Smart ECG Wizard check for abnormal heart rhythms like Atrial fibrillation (AFib) which can lead to blood clots, stroke and heart failure and other issues.
