Earlier today, the brand unveiled a new product called Automatic Phone Washing Kit Fun Edition in the Chinese market that boasts a 99.9% antibacterial rate and can last up to half a year on a single charge. The product is set to debut at the Civi 4 Pro launch event tomorrow.

The hand washing kit is designed to be fun and easy to use, with a soft and cute rounded appearance and a set of fun stickers that are easy to apply and remove.

It also features infrared sensing for rapid foam generation in 0.25 seconds, without the need for pressing or touching, reducing the risk of cross-infection.

The automatic dispenser has a 320mL large capacity design that can produce rich and fine bubbles that penetrate into the hand creases and reach the pores deeply for thorough cleansing.

According to Xiaomi, the phone washing kit adopts a mild antibacterial formula and efficient skincare ingredients, with zero soap base and zero alcohol, effectively inhibiting Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans.

The Mijia Automatic Phone Washing Kit Fun Edition is compatible with the most commonly available foaming hand washes. It comes with Sunshine Clear Grapefruit Fragrance Hand Wash, but antibacterial formula hand wash, amino acid formula hand wash, and Mediterranean Fig Fragrance Hand Wash need to be purchased separately.

The Mijia Automatic Phone Washing Kit Fun Edition is IPX5 waterproof and comes with a Type-C charging design. A full charge can last up to 180 days and is estimated to be usable for about 400 times.

In this survey, the company made detailed studies into the dust that is all around us, cleaning habits across the globe, and even dust related awareness. In the study that had nearly 35,000 participants from 39 countries, the study found that Indians were some of the more aware for viruses, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

But despite most Indians being aware, the study found that only 1 in 7 Indians had effective ways in eliminating this virus in their homes. To elaborate, the dust here in question specifically refers to household dust that carries common allergy triggers. The survey showed that just 33% of participants knew that pollen could reside in household dust, while just 32% knew that dust even contains dust mite feces.

The Bespoke Jet models is lighter than its predecessor and houses an improved Digital Inverter Motor. The company has announced two new models, namely Bespoke Jet Pet and Bespoke Jet Pro Extra. The Bespoke Jet Pet is available in a Woody Green color variant, while the Bespoke Jet Pro Extra arrives in a Midnight Blue option.

Both model comes with an Advanced Suction Power of up to 210W. It also offers a two times larger battery packs over its predecessor that enables up to 120 mins of total run time. Samsung has also equipped with the Bespoke Jet series model with a 99.99 percent multi layered Filtration system. The company also promises best in class design along with a lightweight build, an integrated digital display, a Telescopic pipe, and a fully washable dustbin.

The new Bespoke Jet Bot+ is a robotic vacuum cleaner that arrives with a clean station that charges the devices and let’s it clean out its dustbin automatically. It is equipped with LiDAR sensors that allows it to accurately navigate across buyer’s home and offer efficient cleaning. The device features a WiFi Smart Control and users are even offered a Live Cleaning Report that let’s you track the cleaning progress of Jet Bot+ on a virtual map in real time and checking its cleaning history. The Jet Bot+ arrives with voice control support with voice assistants like Bixby, Alexa, and Google Home. This model is available in a Misty White color option and houses high efficiency brush for improved cleaning.

The new Samsung Bespoke Jet Vacuum Cleaner range starts from 65,900 INR with the Jet Bot+, while the Jet Pet model costs 79,900 INR. Xiaomi has recently launched its new 1.5-inch soft air conditioner, named the Roufeng Air Conditioner. It has just started crowdfunding at a price of 2,299 yuan, which is significantly cheaper than the suggested retail price of 2,699 yuan. The machine is designed to be energy-efficient, with an APF of up to 5.27, and can save up to 323 degrees of electricity per year. It uses a full DC frequency compressor and an innovative self-developed new air channel, making it suitable for rooms between 16-20 square meters.

This air conditioner features 14 sweeping blades and 602 circular micro-holes, which helps to soften the airflow and solve the problem of cold air blowing directly on people, especially young children, mothers, and elderly people who may be more susceptible to catching cold. LG Electronics is finally rolling out its ThinQ UP series of upgradable home appliances for the global markets. This includes various series of products for various different functions and the company is set to release them next year.

The ThinQ UP upgradable series includes various products like refrigerators, washers, dryers, oven ranges, and dishwashers. These home appliances were first announced back in January 2022 and were released only in the company’s home market of South Korea. The new appliances from the brand were launched with the aim of meeting the diverse needs of each customers and adapt to their shifting lifestyles. This means that users can try out new features and functions without having to spend money.

The South Korean tech giant also recently released the world’s first 27 inch and 45 inch OLED gaming monitors that also offers 240Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi has listed a brand new product for sale in the Chinese market, but it is not a new smartphone, nor a new smartwatch. Instead, Xiaomi unveiled a normal 500ml Xiaomi-branded Mini Thermos Flask for 109 RMB (17 USD).

Technology-wise, the Xiaomi Mini Thermos Flask is unfortunately not one of Xiaomi’s IoT smart home electronic appliances, as you are unable to connect the Thermos Flask to your Xiaomi Home app on your phone.

In addition, this is not a self-heating electric thermos flask, this is just your conventional thermos flask. Therefore, it is unable to keep your coffee hot at a constant temperature.

So why should you consider splurging around 17 USD on this thermos flask? Well, durability-wise, the thermos flask has some surprises up its sleeves.

The Xiaomi Mini Thermos Flask is built with high-quality 316-Grade Stainless Steel in the interior and 304-Grade Stainless Steel for the exterior.

Global chip shortage affects home appliance industry in China

The world is currently suffering from a major semiconductor shortage. This has affected various companies across multiple industries worldwide. Now, the shortage of chips has also affected the vast home appliance industry in China.

According to an SCMP report, the Midea Group recently stated that the Chinese home appliance sector is now also suffering from a global shortage. The firm added that the supply of chips is “under pressure in the home appliances industry.” At the moment, Midea has a market cap of about 600 billion Yuan (roughly 91.7 billion US Dollars), which makes it the world’s largest consumer appliance manufacturer. Under its vast electronic portfolio, the company makes appliances like refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners.

Midea said the prices of chips used in these home appliances are usually less sophisticated and advanced in comparison to the ones used in PCs and smartphones, but the prices of these chips are expected to rise due to a global shortfall in their supply. Furthermore, this disruption in the supply chain could also hamper the home appliance industry in China and even have a negative impact on the global market for such products.

At the moment, China produces two-thirds of the world’s air conditioners, televisions, and microwave ovens, and around half of all refrigerators and washing machines. We had previously reported on how the home appliance market across the globe was being impacted by the recent shortage, and since China is one of the major hubs for such products, it is likely that the supply issue would lead to changes in the manufacturer’s plans in the region to better adapt to the current situation.

The world is currently suffering from a major semiconductor shortage, which has impacted various industries across the globe. Now, the latest one is the home appliances industry, with production of products like refrigerators and microwaves being affected as well.

According to a NDTV report, the shortage of chip supply has been straining the existing stockpiles for consumer electronics manufacturers, with home appliance makers being one of them. As per Jason Ai, President of Whirlpool Corp in China, the company, which is also one of the world’s largest white goods vendors, has fallen behind in terms of exports to regions like Europe and the US from China by as much as 25 percent on certain months.

The senior executive also called this situation as the “perfect storm.” He further added that “On the one hand we have to satisfy domestic demand for appliances, on the other hand we’re facing an explosion of export orders. As far as chips go, for those of us in China, it was inevitable.” At the moment, the company is struggling to secure sufficient microcontrollers, which are simple processors that power more than half of its product ranges includes microwaves, refrigerators, and washing machines.

Notably, chip shortages have affected high end suppliers like Qualcomm, but the issue originated and remains dire for mature technologies like power management chips, which are used in automobiles. Thus, the global shortage have affected car makers worldwide, with certain brands halting production altogether for some of their models. Meanwhile, the smart home market has also been facing issues as these products require chips as well.

Samsung to make more appliances disinfectant with UV LED technology next year

Samsung Electronics introduced a UV sterilizer that charges and disinfects the phones recently. And now, it is reportedly planning to launch products like home appliances fitted with UV LEDs more in 2021. A report by TheElec says Samsung’s latest decision is to make people worry less about disinfection amidst a pandemic.

According to the report, Samsung planned to use the UV-C LEDs on consumer electronics products back in September. Apparently, it’s plan is to use the wavelength range of 250-280nm of the UV-C radiation. This is understandable considering UV-C, which generally operates around 200-280nm, is effective to kill germs, viruses, bacteria, particularly around 264nm wavelength. For the unware, UV LED emits ultra-violet light that is invisible to human eyes. There are three range of UV light- UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C. UV-C is Germicidal and has deodorant effects. It kills all the germs, bacteria, viruses by destroying their nucleic acids and disrupting DNAs.

Samsung, so far has only a small range of products like the Bespoke range of refrigerators. And, in case you don’t know, Samsung’s range of home appliances like microwaves, dishwashers, air conditioners, fridges, washing machines, driers and air purifiers, and more. If the report is true, the company will apply the UV-C LED disinfection in 20-30% of home appliances by 2021. However, it is reportedly yet to finalize the list.

Further, the company will reportedly outsource the LEDs from South Korea and China and not from its own sister, S-LED. The report also says that Seoul semiconductor and Semiconlight have the capacity to make UV-C LEDs in South Korea. That said, Samsung might seek after one of them. While the exact reason for the outsourcing is unknown, the complexity of UV LEDs and the requirement of sophisticated technology could be the reason.

Although Samsung tried its best in implementing the disinfection during the early days of COVID-19, it hasn’t been that vocal when it comes to applying UV LEDs to its products. However, it’s rival LG’s Innotek, has experience with InnoUV and already hosts a range of products with UV LEDs. That said, with the outbreak of the virus, UV LEDs are blooming and it will only get better in the future.

Samsung Life Unstoppable event for innovative products scheduled on 2nd September

South Korean giant Samsung has already scheduled its Galaxy Unpacked event for 5th August. Now, the company has officially announced yet another launch event — Samsung Life Unstoppable, scheduled for 2nd September.

The event will start at 9 a.m. BST or 10 a.m. CET and will be open to media, retail, and industry partners. The recorded stream will be available on its own website.

At this event, the company will showcase technology for “maximizing in-home entertainment and connected gaming experiences.” Samsung is confirmed to showcase its smart digital appliances at this 45-minute event. Similar to the Galaxy Unpacked event, the Life Unstoppable event will also be held online because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A simple Microwave Oven can slow down Wi-Fi signal in homes

A new report has just publicized an interesting correlation regarding a common household appliance and the strength of the Wi-Fi signals at homes. According to a UK based firm called Ofcom, if users are experiencing a dip in data network speeds, it could have been due to the microwave oven being in use.

The report states that the common kitchen appliance is capable of negatively impacting the strength of the Wi-Fi networks in houses when it is being used. Apparently, a Microwave oven is only one of the many household items that can potentially hamper Wi-Fi signals at your home. Other objects like a baby monitor, halogen lamp, cordless phones, dimmer switches, stereo speakers, TV, monitors and more can interfere with the Wi-Fi signal strengths that come from the router.

The news from Ofcom was shared after the number of people working from home and utilizing the broadband network increased due to the Coronavirus pandemic. According to an official statement, “we’re encouraging people to read our advice on getting the most from their broadband, home phones, and mobiles – and to share it with friends, families, and colleagues, to help them stay connected too.” In other words, this is a helpful initiative to make data speed efficient and optimal for professionals working from their homes.

This arrives after Britain is facing issues regarding its data networking, especially mobile data. The UK regulatory agency has advised people to make calls over a landline or internet as it is currently more reliable than the standard mobile calls due to heavy traffic in the data bandwidth. Richard Yu: Huawei will not enter the field of home appliances

Huawei consumer business CEO Richard Yu said at the MatePad Pro launch conference today that the company has no interest in entering the home appliance field in the future. According to him, the company wants to focus predominantly on mobile phones, smart audio products, computer product and tablets, as well as other smart consumer products such as smart wear, smart bracelets and smart watches.

This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen Richard Yu express absolutely no interest in home appliances. During the China Household Appliances and Consumer Electronics Expo in Shanghai on March 14th, the company took a deep dive into the smart home products market with their smart TVs, as well as applying a bigger focus towards AI development.

During that Expo, Richard Yu claimed that the company “has a selfishness in doing IoT. Our goal is to improve the stickiness of smart terminal users. Therefore, Huawei IoT and Huawei mobile phones are a whole and inseparable. In the future, your home hardware can be controlled by Huawei mobile phones.”

This is in stark contrast to their competitors, especially Xiaomi who have invested heavily into all sorts of home appliances that connect to their Mi Home infrastructure. According to Richard Yu, the company will never make smart hardware for home appliances, and will only provide consumers with a seamless experiences on pre-existing products.
