Huawei‘s flagship Honor 10 was first announced in China a couple of weeks back before the tech giant rolled out the device for Europe and India a few days back. It has now emerged that the Honor 10 turned out to be a highly popular model in Europe. The launch day sales of the Honor flagship is said to have seen the stock exhausted in no distant time. 

The Honor 10 reportedly sold out in just six hours in Spain while the Phantom Blue Honor 10 sold out within the day in France. The exact number of units sold during the flash sale wasn’t disclosed but Huawei shared that up to 80,000 European social media subscribers have taken advantage of a €30 discount coupon.

This isn’t really coming out as a surprise considering the rich specs line up the Honor 10 packs, not to talk about the affordable price tag and its glittering premium design. Recall that the Honor 10 was launched adorning an impressive glass chassis that has the ability to show different colours when it is viewed from different angles. It is equipped with a notched display that offers a large screen space. Some of the other attractive features of the Honor 10 include improved AI 2.0, Kirin 970 chipset, 6 GB RAM, 128 GB storage, AI-driven dual cameras, a powerful selfie shooter, NFC, front fingerprint scanner and more. The device is equally reasonably priced in Europe at €400 for the base variant.

On 19th April, i.e. tomorrow, Honor is holding a launch event where the company is expected to launch its new smartphone — Honor 10 along with Honor MagicBook. Now, ahead of the launch, pricing and availability information of the smartphone has been leaked online.

The Honor 10 is said to be available in three variants on the memory configuration — 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage, 6GB RAM with 64GB internal storage and a top-end variant having 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The report suggests that the smartphone will be available for purchase from 27th April.

Along with this, the phone’s pricing information has also been leaked. The 4GB RAM mode is said to cost 2,699 Yuan (~$429) while the 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM model and the 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM model are priced at 2,999 Yuan (~$477) and 3599 Yuan (~$573). This new pricing information is different than what we reported earlier.

Earlier, based on the speculation of Chinese media, we reported that the 4GB RAM model will cost 2,499 Yuan (~$398), while the 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM variant will be priced at 2,899 Yuan (~$461) and the 6GB RAM + 128GB model will cost 3,399 Yuan (~$541).

The smartphone is expected to be available in three colors — Black, Teal and a special Bluish-pink variant that shows off a different shade depending on the viewing angle. Leaked images of the Honor 10 confirmed that it will come with a notched screen and a fingerprint scanner enabled home button on the bottom bezel.

It features a 5.84-inch IPS LTPS LCD display that with 2280 x 1080 pixels screen resolution with a layer of 2.5D glass on top. Under the hood, the device is expected to be powered by the company’s own Kirin 970 chipset.

While some reports indicate that the device will come equipped with 20-megapixel + 24-megapixel dual camera setup, the TENAA listing had revealed that it features 16-megapixel + 24-megapixel dual rear cameras. On the front side, it comes with the same 24-megapixel front facing camera that can be found on the Huawei P20 series phones.

The Honor 10 will be running Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own EMUI 8.0 on top. The smartphone is expected to pack 3,320mAh battery.

I call 2017 “the year of bezel-less smartphones” and that is rightly so as the second half of 2017 saw the launch of a number of “bezel-less” full-screen smartphones by almost all the major OEMs around. These numbers included OEMs that don’t get swayed by such stuff such as Apple who also released the iPhone X with a full-screen design. Huawei came to the party with the Honor V10, Mate 10 series, Honor 7X, Enjoy 7s and a few others which all turned out to be popular with fans.

It shouldn’t come out as a surprise therefore that Huawei is planning to continue with the full-screen design style on its flagship models this year. The Huawei P11/P20 is tipped to come with a full-screen display among other features. And now, popular Twitter tipster @rquandt has revealed that he Honor 10 which is expected to be released later this year will come with a full-screen design (18:9 aspect ratio) and that there will be no Honor phone from this point on that won’t feature a Fullview design. He credited the information to have come from Honor Germany.

Roland Quandt further quoted Honor Germany to have hinted that EMUI 8 which brings Android Oreo will come to the Honor 8 Pro and Honor 9 as from February but will hit the Honor 7X in the second quarter of the year. Recently, it was revealed that the Honor 8 will get EMUI 8 upgrade soon but the tipster hints that the update won’t bring Android Oreo. The Honor 10 is also expected to come with EMUI 8 based on Android Oreo out of the box and would run on the Kirin 970 chip. The device may come with a 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM version as well as IP67 waterproof and dustproof build.
