News emanating from Huawei‘s Pollen Club indicates that the Honor 10 Lite has started receiving EMUI 10 open beta update in China. This isn’t an OTA update so it is available to users who registered for the open beta program. The program grants the registered users first-hand access to test the latest EMUI features before they are commercially available. Beta testers are mandatorily required to send feedback in order to help improve the overall outlook of the custom ROM and fix bugs before the stable ROM is released. The open beta testing is usually the last step before the stable ROM is pushed.

The Honor 10 Lite was first released in November last year as a toned-down version of the premium Honor 10. The device features a 6.21-inch IPS LCD Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. The device also has about 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood, the device is powered by the company’s own Kirin 710 chipset. The device is available in 4GB+64GB, 6GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB memory combo. Huawei launched a 3GB RAM variant in March this year in India.

EMUI 10 brings a redesigned layout, fluid and snappier animations as well as a refreshed camera application, among others. The new ROM also improves on the Dark mode feature on Android 10.

As expected, Honor has today launched the Honor 10 Lite smartphone in the Indian market. The phone was first launched in China last year as a toned-down variant of the Honor 10 and successor to the Honor 9 Lite.

In line with our previous report, the Honor 10 Lite will be available for purchase in India exclusively through online marketplace Flipkart and Honor’s official website. In India, the smartphone will be available in three color options –Sapphire Blue, Sky Blue, and Midnight Black.

The 4GB RAM model is priced at Rs. 13,999 which roughly converts to $197 while the top-end model with 6GB RAM is priced at Rs. 17,999 which is approximately $253. The phone will go on sale from 20th January at 12:00 midnight.

For photography, the device comes equipped with a dual camera setup on the back, featuring a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor stacked vertically. It has several AI-based features, including scene recognition, partition optimization, among others. There’s also a 24-megapixel front camera with artificial intelligence technology.

Connectivity options on the device include Dual SIM, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Bluetooth v5.0 LE, and micro-USB 2.0 port. The phone runs Android 9 Pie operating system out of the box with the company’s own custom interface EMUI 9 on top.

Honor says that the company has made changes in the operating system to make it more suitable to the Indian users. It also comes with HiVision feature which is similar to Google Lens.

A couple of months ago, in November, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor launched its Honor 10 Lite smartphone as a watered-down variant of the Honor 10 launched earlier last year and successor to the Honor 9 Lite. Now, the phone is all set to make its debut in India.

According to the reports, the Honor 10 Lite will be launched in the Indian market later this month. While the launch date is not yet known, it is speculated to launch in mid-January.

In China, the Honor 10 Lite is priced at 1,399 Yuan (~$202) for the base model with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage while the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model costs 1,699 Yuan (~$245). The top-end model of the phone which packs 6GB RAM + 128GB storage is available is priced at 1,899 Yuan (approximately $274).

While the Indian pricing is not yet known, we expect it to be similar to that of the Chinese pricing. Also, it’s not known if the company plans to bring all variants to the Indian market.
