Huawei’s ex-sister brand HONOR had already confirmed that the older devices will continue to receive the software updates as planned. Accordingly, the HONOR 20 series and V20 are now getting the Magic UI 4.0 global stable update.

If you recall, the stable update has already been rolled out to these devices in China. Now, the global variants of the HONOR 20, HONOR 20 Pro, and HONOR V20 are getting the Magic UI 4.0 global stable version. Carrying the build with firmware version 11.0.0.138, an OTA update weighing about 1.84GB in size is rolling out.

This software version is based on the EMUI 11 which is in turn an Android 10-based UI without GMS. Huawei unveiled the EMUI 11 back in September 2020. Due to the tussle with the US, the company couldn’t incorporate the latest Android 11 as Google was barred from working with the Chinese giant.

That said, the UI still had improved features like Photo sharing Privacy, Gallery, ringtones, UI animation, multiwindow mode, and more. The Magic UI 4.0, which is based on this, also has the relevant features and if you are having one of the devices mentioned above, you can expect the following features to land on your device:

• Multi-screen collaboration
• Smoother animation
• Super notepad
• Subtle effect
• Rhythmic ringtones
• Notepad & Photo sharing Privacy
• Undisturbed screen protection, and more.

Anyway, the update is reportedly in the early stages and it might take a few days to reach everyone as a result of staggered rollout. Huawei has announced the plan of updating the flagships to its HarmonyOS in the future and we will have to wait and see what HONOR does for its devices.

Honor 20 was one of the last Huawei smartphones to launch in India with GMS (Google Mobile Services). This handset came with Magic UI 2.1 based on Android Pie out of the box. Now, it is receiving the newly released Magic UI 3.1 in the country.

Just like Xiaomi (MIUI 12), Huawei has been rolling out EMUI 10.1/Magic UI 3.1 to its smartphones and tablets worldwide. After completing the rollout in China, the company is focusing on international markets.

Just last month, Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro began to receive the much-awaited Magic UI 3.1 in Europe. Now, the same update is live in India but only the former device has got it so far.

The latest OTA system update for Honor 20 in India weighs a whopping 4.63GB in size and comes with build number 10.1.0.230. Apart from bringing new features, the update also bumps up the security patch level to June 2020.

The new Huawei mobile software brings features like Multi-Screen Collaboration, Cross-Device Photo Gallery, Multi-Window, Huawei MeeTime video calling app, and more.

As usual, the update is being rolled out in batches and hence it may take time to reach every unit out there.

Huawei introduced EMUI 10.1 alongside the P40 series last month. Since then, the company has announced a list of eligible devices and even updated some of them with a closed beta build in China. As for Honor devices, the new EMUI iteration is known as Magic UI 3.1 and only one device has received it so far. But now, the brand has started rolling out the update to more devices such as Honor 20 series, Honor V30 series, and Honor V20. 

Huawei has been seeding out EMUI 10.1 closed beta updates to multiple devices over the past few days. The first batch of devices included the P30 Series and Mate 30 series, which was later followed by Nova 5 series and Honor 20S (Magic UI 3.1). Recently, even the company’s first 5G smartphone, the Mate 20X 5G also got the update.

With that being said, the new set of Honor smartphones that are currently receiving the Magic UI 3.1 closed beta update in China are as listed below.

Whereas, the update for Honor V30 ( OXF-AN00) and Honor V30 Pro (OXF-AN10) bear the build number Magic UI 3.1.0.75.

Back in November 2019, Honor released a list of devices that would get the Magic UI 3.0 update which is based on Android 10. The list had devices such as the Honor 20, Honor V20, and Honor 9X amongst others. After months of beta testing, Honor has now revealed that a stable update will be rolled out next week for the global versions of the aforementioned phones.

The info comes from a press release shared by Honor and it stated that Magic UI 3.0 based on Android 10 will roll-out to the Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro, Honor View 20, and the Honor 9X as from 15th of March.

Honor says it is working on the update for the Honor 10, Honor 10 Lite, Honor 20 Lite, Honor 8X, Honor 9X Pro and Honor View 10 but there is no news of when the update will arrive for these devices.

Magic UI 3.0 brings a redesigned UI, system-wide dark mode, new navigation gestures, new camera features, and more.

Smartphone companies like to release new color options for its older devices to keep it fresh in the market. Today, Honor revealed that it will release an Orange color shade for the Honor 20 series on November 1. But this color is likely going to be different from other options in the market.

Traditionally, Honor 20 models have come with fancy color options like Phantom Blue, Phantom Red, and Icelandic white, which are a mix of different colors. However, this particular orange shade is expected to be unlike any other color option available in the market.

According to a leaked render of the Honor 20S in the new Orange shade, the phone will have a peel-like leather texture at the back in a single shade of orange. So there’ll be no fancy gradients or color mixing. While the company is yet to confirm this, it would be really interesting to see such an option across all Honor 20 models.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of this color and texture, but I’m sure there’ll be a segment of our readers who like this real peel-like texture at the back in a fresh orange shade.

Zhao Ming, President of Huawei’s sub-brand Honor, has announced through Chinese microblogging platform Weibo that the Honor has become the leading smartphone brand in Russia in terms of market share.

In the post, he seems to saying that the reason behind Honor’s success in the market is that it offers good quality and user experience. He also adds that the Honor 20 and 20 Pro are still leading the sales in Russia.

Honor 20 Pro is the company’s current flagship smartphone which was launched in China in May and made its way to Russia in July this year. It features a 6.26-inch All-View Display with the punch-hole housing a 32MP camera. It is powered by the Hisilicon Kirin 980 octa-core processor and comes in two variants based on memory configuration –8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB.

As for the camera department, the Honor 20 Pro features a quad-camera setup comprising a 16MP f/2.2 super-wide-angle camera, a 48MP main Sony IMX586 camera with an f/1.4 aperture. It also comes with an 8MP f/2.4 Telephoto lens and a 2MP f/2.4 Macro lens.

Zhao Ming has also revealed some information about the brand’s upcoming flagship smartphone — the Honor Vera30 series in the Chinese market which is also known as Honor V30 series for the global markets.

He has confirmed that the smartphone will come powered by the newly launched Kirin 990 5G chipset and will also come with 90Hz display. Apart from these, there’s nothing more known about this upcoming smartphone series at this time.

Meanwhile, Honor’s parent company Huawei is gearing up to launch its new flagship smartphones — Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro and the company has already scheduled a launch event for the same in Munich, Germany on 19th September.

Honor is reportedly gearing up to launch a new smartphone called Honor 20S in China. Some reports have claimed that the handset could be called Honor 20 SE. The Chinese has confirmed through Weibo that it will be holding a launch event on Sept. 4 to announce an Honor 20 series smartphone. It is speculated that the company may unleash the Honor 20S phone on the said date.

The below poster confirms that the company will be launching a new Honor 20 series phone on Sept. 4. The handset shown in the hands of the Chinese celebrity does not seem to be the Honor 20S phone, but Icelandic White color variant of the Honor 20. However, the purported Honor 20S handset’s leaked render that is now doing rounds on social media sites show that it will come with a triple camera system on its rear.

It is speculated that the Honor YAL-AL50 / TL50 smartphone that was recently approved by the TENAA agency in China could be the Honor 20S phone. Most of the specs of the Honor YAL-AL50 / TL50 resembles with Honor 20. However, the only major difference is the presence of a triple camera setup on its back.

It seems to be an upcoming member of the Honor 20 series since its model number and specifications resembles with the Honor 20 (YAL-AL10) smartphone. The Honor YAL-AL50 / TL50 seems to be a weaker version of the Honor 20.

The Honor YAL-AL50 / TL50 TENAA listings lack images of the phone. The handset has 154.25 x 73.97 x 7.87mm dimensions and it weighs 172 grams. The smartphone is equipped with a 6.26-inch display that offers 1080 x 2340 pixels full HD+ resolution.

Last week, a leaked snapshot of an announced Honor 20 SE phone’s poster was spotted outside the offline store of Suning Tesco in China. It did not reveal any information on the specs of the phone. However, it did suggest that Honor is gearing up to add a new phone to the Honor 20 series. Hopefully, the company may make it official in the coming month.

Recent reports have revealed conflicting information on the Nova 5T. Last week, an Android Enterprise listing of a smartphone called Huawei Nova 5T was spotted. The image of the phone on Android Enterprise listing had revealed that it features a display with a punch-hole at its top-left corner.

On the specs front, it was revealed through that Nova 5T has a 5.5-inch display and it runs on Android 9 Pie OS. The smartphone is equipped with 8 GB of RAM and it has 128 GB and 256 GB storage choices. The image of the phone had further revealed that there is indentation on the right side of the phone. It could for the side-mounted fingerprint reader. A volume rocker can be seen above it.

Huawei Nova 5T Could be Rebranded Honor 20

At the end of the previous month, Thailand’s NBTC regulatory had certified that YAL-L21 Huawei phone as Nova 5T. The YAL-L21 model number actually belongs to the Honor 20 phone that had gone official in China in May this year. Hence, it appears that the Honor 20 could be rebranded as Nova 5T for Malaysia.

The Honor 20 has a 6.26-inch IPS LCD panel that supports full HD+ resolution. However, the Android Enterprise listing of the Nova 5T had shown that it features a 5.5-inch display. It appears that there could be an error with the display size of the Nova 5T in its Android Enterprise listing.

The Honor 20 features Kirin 980 chipset and its loaded with Magic 2.1 based Android 9 Pie OS. Its 3,750mAh battery supports 22.5W fast charging. It has a front-facing camera of 32-megapixel. The rear side of the phone features a quad camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel primary lens, an ultrawide 16-megapixel lens, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

Last month, it was reported that the Honor 20 will be launching in Thailand as the Huawei Nova 5T. The Nova 5T has now been spotted among the Android Enterprise list of recommended devices.

The attached image shows the Huawei Nova 5T has a punch-hole display. The hole is located in the top left corner of the screen. We can make out an indentation on the side similar to that of the Honor 20. This indentation is for the side-mounted fingerprint scanner which also doubles as the volume rocker. Above it sits the volume rocker.

The Android Enterprise listing says it has a 5.5-inch display which we believe is an error as the Honor 20 has a 6.26-inch IPS LCD display. RAM is listed as 8GB and there are two storage variants – 128GB and 256GB.

The listing also says it has NFC and runs Android 9 Pie out of the box.

There is no info yet regarding when the Nova 5T will be announced but it should launch soon seeing as it has been certified by the NBTC.

The Nova 5T will be powered by the Kirin 980, have quad rear cameras (48MP + 16MP + 2MP + 2MP), a 32MP selfie camera, a 3.5mm audio jack, a 3750mAh battery, and support for 22.5W fast charging.

It is not uncommon for Huawei to launch the Honor smartphones in some region under the Huawei brand name. There are speculations that scenario may play out yet again in Malaysia where the Honor 20 may launch as Huawei Nova 5T.

A device has just been certified in Malaysia bearing the moniker Huawei Nova 5T and having the model number YAL-L21. Interestingly, the Honor 20 which is already available globally comes with the same model- YAL-L21. If this turns out to be true, the device could be the first Nova 5 series smartphone to be launched outside China.

The Honor 20 was initially announced with four cameras on the back and a punch-hole design for the selfie shooter. However, the phone was released in Europe, Eurasia and the Middle East a month later.

While the phone costs around $500 in Europe, it carries a rather cheaper MYR1,699 (about $410) price in Malaysia. The company may also release the Honor 20 Pro under a different moniker but we are not so sure about that.

Honor had announced the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro flagship phones in May in China. These phones are packed impressive flagship specs, topnotch cameras and come with attractive pricing. The Honor 20 Pro was introduced in Phantom Black and Phantom Blue color options. At the unveil event of the Honor 9X series earlier this month, Honor had debuted a new color edition called Icelandic Illusion for the Honor 20 Pro smartphone. At that time, the Chinese firm had confirmed the availability of the new color variant. Beginning from today, the Honor 20 Pro Icelandic Illusion will be selling alongside its other color options in the home market.

The Honor 20 Pro Icelandic Illusion is now listed on Vmall. Like its other color variants, the Iceland Illusion can be also availed in 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage versions. They are respectively priced at 3,199 Yuan (~$464) and 3,499 Yuan (~$508). The Phantom Black and Phantom Blue are darker shades. Hence, it is good to see the company releasing a lighter and attractive Icelandic Illusion color edition for the Honor 20 Pro. The gradient color appears golden at the top, pink at the center and light blue at the bottom.

The Honor 20 Pro has a punch-hole IPS LCD display of 6.26 inches. It supports 19.5:9 aspect ratio and full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The 7nm Kirin 980 chipset is present under the hood of the device. It only comes in single RAM version of 8 GB of RAM. Its two storage variants are 128 GB and 512 GB. The Honor 20 Pro’s storage can be expanded by adding a microSD card. The Magic 2.1 UI is overlaid on the Android 9 Pie OS on the device.

The punch-hole of the Honor 20 Pro features an f/2.0 aperture 32-megapixel selfie camera. The rear panel of the smartphone features a quad camera setup that includes Sony IMX586 f/1.4 aperture primary lens, a telephoto sensor of 8-megapixel with f/2.4 aperture, an ultrawide 16-megapixel lens with f/2.2 aperture and a dedicated macro camera of 2-megapixel with f/2.4 aperture. The 4,000mAh battery of the Honor 20 Pro is equipped 22.5W fast charging technology. On DxOMark, the Honor 20 Pro has second highest score of 111. There is a side-mounted fingerprint reader on the device. Honor is expected to release a 12 GB RAM edition of the Honor 20 Pro in the near future.

Chinese phone manufacturer and global smartphone brand Huawei today announced the commercial availability of the highly-anticipated Honor 20 Pro. The phone was unveiled for the global market at a media event held in Moscow, Russia. Users in Russia will be able to buy the flagship smartphone in all channels at 34990 RUB from 2nd August. The company also announced that the phone will be available in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Finland, Poland, Malaysia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and other markets in no distant time.

The Honor 20 Pro was announced alongside the Honor 20 in China on May 31. Both models pack a 6.26-inch All-View Display with the punch-hole housing a 32MP camera. The models are powered by the Hisilicon Kirin 980 flagship chipset. In China, the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro are both available in 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB memory options.

The Honor 20 series recently got two new color variants. The Honor 20 itself now comes in Phantom Blue while the Honor 20 Pro is now available in a new color that translates into “Icelandic Illusion”. Alongside these two new color variants, the Honor 20 is getting a limited edition called Golden Crane that comes in an elaborate gift box.

The Red-crowned Crane is the national bird of China and this limited edition Honor 20 shows that. The phone comes in a blue box with a similar color to the Mi MIX 3 Forbidden City/Palace Museum edition. However, unlike the Mi MIX 3 Forbidden City edition, the Honor 20 inside the box isn’t customized. It is the regular Sapphire Blue variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Inside the gift box are a notebook, a phone case, a power bank, a pen, and a golden crane bookmarker. The notebook, case, and power bank come in the same blue color with the golden crane embossment as the box.

This limited edition is priced at ¥2699 (~$392) and is available for pre-order on Jingdong.com. It will go on sale on the 8th of August.

Honor isn’t the only one with a limited edition phone. The iQOO Neo also has a limited edition that adopts the same design as the Honor 20 Golden Crane edition. Called the iQOO Neo Four Calves edition, it comes in a blue box too with a customized power bank, phone case, bull-head phone stand, and fridge magnet. There is also a carbon black iQOO Neo with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The iQOO Neo Four Calves edition is priced at ¥1998 (~$290). It is available for pre-order on JD.com and will also go on sale on the 8th of August.

Honor is known for its beautiful smartphones. And the company regularly adds new colors to its existing models to keep it fresh. After launching the Phantom Blue color variant for the Honor 20, it looks like the brand will add a new color variant for its more powerful sibling, the Honor 20 Pro.

In a television show aired in China, a sharp-eyed viewer spotted a never before seen color for the Honor 20 Pro. From the image that we can see above, the phone has a hint of pink as well as purple. However, currently, the Honor 20 Pro has only two colors for sale: Phantom Blue and Gradient Purple. So, this is very likely going to be a new addition to the phone’s color variants. Honestly, the brand seems to have figured out how to match different colors perfectly. So this Pink and Purple gradient mix looks pretty amazing as well.

We haven’t seen any teasers or mention of this color from Honor yet. However, given that this color variant was officially shown off on a TV broadcast, it’s very likely we’ll hear more about it in the near future.

Starting from today, the Honor 20 will be also available in Phantom Blue edition.

The Honor 20 Phantom Blue comes in two variants such as 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage priced at 2,699 Yuan (~$392) and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage for 2,999 Yuan (~$436). The new color variant is available for purchase through Vmall and other Chinese retailer sites.

The Honor 20 flagship phone features 6.26-inch IPS LCD display with punch-hole design. It supports full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The Magic 2.1 UI flavored Android 9 Pie OS runs on the device.

The 7nm Kirin 980 chipset is present under the hood of the Honor 20. For shooting selfies, it possesses a 32-megapixel selfie camera. The rear side of the phone features a quad camera setup with 48-megapixel primary lens with f/1.8 aperture, a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens with f/2.2 aperture, a dedicated macro camera of 2-megapixel with f/2.4 aperture and 2-megapixel depth sensor.

In related news, Honor will be launching the Honor 9X and 9X Pro smartphones on July 23. These phones will be debuting as first Honor smartphones with notch-less displays and pop-up selfie cameras. So far, it has been revealed that the Honor 9X will feature a 6.59-inch IPS LCD display that delivers full HD+ resolution. The Kirin 810 chipset will be powering the smartphone with up to 8 GB of RAM. It may arrive with up to 256 GB of storage.

The handset will be featuring a 4,000mAh battery. It will have a pop-up selfie camera of 16-megapixel. A 48-megapixel + 2-megapixel will be available on its rear shell. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor will be also available on the device. The Honor 9X Pro is expected to sport identical specs along with 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera setup. It may come with fast charging and it could be available in higher RAM and storage versions than the Honor 9X handset.

When the Honor 20 was unveiled back in May, it was announced in three colors – Icelandic White, Sapphire Blue, and Midnight Black. Today, Honor has announced the phone will get a fourth color variant called Phantom Blue.

The new color variant which is more like green is one of the color variants of the Pro model, so it should be familiar. It will be available tomorrow at 10:08 am. Interested buyers will be able to get the new variant in 8GB + 128GB for ¥2699 (~$392) or 8GB + 256GB for ¥2999 (~$436).

The Honor 20 has a 6.26-inch FHD+ screen with a punch hole for a 32MP selfie camera. It has a Kirin 980 processor and quad rear cameras (48MP + 16MP ultrawide + 2MP macro + 2MP depth). There is a 3750mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an IR blaster, and runs Magic UI 2.1 based on Android Pie.

After publishing the first comparisons with the new Mi CC series which included Xiaomi Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e, it is time to talk a bit about the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Meitu Custom Edition. A special version of the new line-up released in partnership with Meitu, the luxury phone manufacturer which was recently acquired by Xiaomi. It is the most powerful and expensive variant of the new series, that is why we think it is perfect to compare it with the base variants of the main line-ups from Oppo and Huawei’s sub-brand Honor. We chose Oppo Reno and Honor 20 because they are among the most important devices on a similar price range and they might become the main rivals of the new Mi CC9 Meitu Edition. But let’s discover who is the best together.

Xiaomi Mi CC9 Meitu Edition vs Oppo Reno vs Huawei Honor 20

Design

Which design you should choose? It really depends on your tastes, in each case you get impressive premium aesthetics. The Xiaomi Mi CC9 Meitu Edition has a stunning glass back which creates different effects depending on the reflection, but it comes with a notched display. Honor 20 and Oppo Reno’s back covers are less impressive (according to my tastes), but they do not feature a notch and they come with much more interesting solutions. While the former has a shark fin pop-up camera, no bezels, and no display interruption, the latter comes with a punch-hole display. Note that Honor 20 is also the most compact and the most lightweight.

Display

On the paper, Xiaomi Mi CC9 Meitu Edition seems to come with the best display. It is the only to support the HDR technology, despite it has a less strong Gorilla Glass protection than the Oppo Reno (Gorilla Glass 5 vs 6) and it has a waterdrop notch instead of a true full screen display. Oppo Reno takes the second place with its AMOLED display boasting a high DCI-P3 coverage, while Honor 20 does not convince me with its midrange-class IPS panel.

Specs & Software

There is no challenge here: while Xiaomi Mi CC9 and Oppo Reno are powered by a midrange chipset, Honor 20 has the best Huawei’s flagship SoC. We are talking about the Kirin 980 which is a lot faster and smoother than the Snapdragon 710 by Qualcomm. Honor 20 does not have a variant with 8 GB of RAM, but the superiority of its SoC wins everything. Right after, there is the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Meitu Edition with its 8/256 GB memory configuration and expandable internal storage through a micro SD slot.

Camera

It is hard to pick the best camera phone of this trio. Xiaomi Mi CC9 has an amazing triple camera on its back which includes an ultrawide sensor too, and it can record super slow motion videos up to 960 fps. There is also an amazing 32 MP camera which supports the awesome camera algorithms developed by Meitu. These algorithms are able to enhance selfie quality by relying on AI for beautification and more. They are the main reason why Xiaomi acquired Meitu. But for now (at least until we personally test the Mi CC9) it is a draw with the Honor 20 as it also comes with a pretty amazing setup: a quad camera including a 16 MP ultrawide lens and a dedicated macro camera.

Battery

Xiaomi Mi CC9 Meitu Edition is equipped with a big 4030 mAh battery and it will probably last a lot more than its opponents on a single charge, in most of the scenarios. It even features an efficient AMOLED display, unlike the Honor 20. But until we tested it thoroughly, we cannot confirm our opinions about Xiaomi Mi CC9’s battery life in a definitive way.

Price

Xiaomi Mi CC9 Meitu Custom Edition debuted with a $378/€425 price tag in China, while Oppo Reno and Honor 20 start from €500/$560 worldwide. Due to its amazing camera performance, wider display than the Honor 20, bigger battery, a better display, and more internal storage, I prefer the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Meitu Edition. But for people who want the highest performance, Honor 20 is the best.

That is why it represents a very interesting choice for everyone who wants high performances at the lowest price. But there are also other last-gen devices you can choose if you desire a high speed and smoothness. The latest from Huawei and Xiaomi are the Redmi K20 Pro and the Honor 20. Does the price difference justify their purchase or the affordable iQOO Neo is a better choice? This comparison will let you find out.

Vivo iQOO Neo vs Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro vs Huawei Honor 20

Design

As the Vivo iQOO Neo is a classic phone with a waterdrop design, Redmi K20 Pro and Honor 20 are way more interesting if we talk about aesthetics. The former is equipped with a pop-up front camera which allows the presence of very narrow bezels around the display, even though the display is notch-less. The latter has a punch-hole design, so a front camera inside a hole in the display. The rear side of the Redmi K20 Pro looks more suggestive to me due to its liquid finish, but a lot of people may prefer the Honor 20 due to its most compact size.

Display

There is no challenge here: Redmi K20 Pro wins the display comparison. The Honor 20 has a classic IPS display that you can find on most of the midrange phones. The Vivo iQOO has an AMOLED display, but just an average color accuracy. Redmi K20 Pro is much more accurate when it comes to color reproduction, and it is HDR10-compliant. Further, it has no notch and it sounds amazing. It is even protected by Gorilla Glass 5, so it is a more resistant panel.

Hardware/Software

Besides having the best display, Redmi K20 Pro also wins the hardware comparison. Its processor is definitely more powerful as it is a 2019 Snapdragon 855  chipset and it is paired with up to 8 GB of RAM. Vivo iQOO Neo has an old-gen Snapdragon 845 chipset, so there is no chance it can reach its rival. Honor 20 has a Kirin 980 which is less powerful than Snapdragon 855, and it only comes with 6 GB of RAM even in its most expensive variant. The story would be different if we talked about the Honor 20 Pro, but that is another handset.

Camera

If we exclude the processor, Vivo iQOO Neo is essentially a midrange and it does not feature a really impressive camera. The situation changes when it comes to Redmi K20 Pro and Honor 20 which come with impressive rear departments. Honor 20 is my favorite one with its dedicated macro camera and its amazing 32 MP selfie camera, but Redmi K20 Pro is still an awesome camera phone which is more or less at the same level when it comes to photo quality.

Battery

Finally, a side on which Vivo iQOO Neo wins: battery life. Due to its huge 4500 mAh unit, Vivo iQOO Neo will probably last more on a single charge with most of the usage patterns. But the Redmi K20 Pro charges faster thanks to a 27W power. Honor 20 is the most disappointing one with a just 3750 mAh capacity for its battery.

Price

Vivo iQOO is the most affordable: it starts from just €230/$260 in China. Redmi K20 Pro starts from €350/$395 in China, while Honor 20 costs €500/$565 on the global market. Overall Redmi K20 Pro is the most balanced phone and I would spend those €120 more to get it as it offers a better SoC and better cameras.

The Honor 20 Pro is the first smartphone from the Chinese technology giant Huawei’s subsidiary firm to receive the Google Play Store certification after the US Government’s trade ban came into force. For a while up until the official announcement, it was believed that the 20 Pro was the first casualty of the US Department of Commerce’s ban on American companies staying in business with the Chinese conglomerate.

The smartphone was announced alongside the Honor 20 just a couple of days after the ban was made public, raising questions about whether the device would get access to the coveted Android OS and Play Store certification. While the Honor 20 had gone through Google’s certification process at the time, the 20 Pro was yet to be evaluated.

Thankfully for Honor though, it looks like the three-month reprieve has given them enough time to launch the 20 Pro with Google’s support. This implies that a launch in the Western market is imminent.

The million-dollar question at the moment is “Will the people buy a premium Android smartphone that is scheduled to stop receiving support from Google within the next 90-days?” We guess only time will answer this one!

In the meantime, Huawei seems to be cooking up a new strategy to keep selling smartphones in the absence of Google, as a listing on Google’s database for certified Android devices reads “Honor 20 Pro/Nova 5T Pro and Honor 20/Nova 5T”. Both phones are listed the same YAL-L41 model number. Do not be surprised if the Honor 20 Pro get spotted in certain markets selling with Huawei Nova 5T moniker.

A new report says Honor has revealed that its new Honor 20 series will get updated to the next major version of Android currently called Android Q.

The Honor 20 series includes the Honor 20 itself, the Honor 20 Pro, and the Honor 20 Lite which is known as the Honor 20i in India.

Other than the Honor 20 series, the manufacturer didn’t say anything about its other phones but we expect more details will surface soon.

The Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro run Magic UI just like the Honor View 20 and Honor Magic 2. The Android Q update should bring a new version just as it is supposed to come with EMUI 10 on Huawei devices getting the update.

Earlier this month, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor launched the Honor 20, Honor 20i, and Honor 20 Pro smartphones in the Indian market. While the 20i went on sale in India from 18th June, the Honor 20 is all set to go on sale in India from today.

The Honor 20 will be available for purchase in India today at 12:00 PM local time, exclusively through online marketplace Flipkart and all leading offline stores across the country. It comes in two color options — Sapphire Blue and Midnight Black. The Honor 20 is priced at Rs. 32,999 in India, which roughly converts to $474.

As a part of the launch offer, Honor has also announced a ‘Love it or Return it’ Challenge. Under this, buyers will get the opportunity to experience the device and return it before 90 days, if they do not love it. Honor promises to return 90 percent of the amount if the return is initiated within 90 days.

Other offers include no-cost EMI options starting from Rs. 5,500 per month, Jio cashback of up to 2,200 and 125GB of additional data. Alongside the Honor 20 (Full Specs) and Honor 20i, the company had also launched the Honor 20 Pro but its sale date has not been announced yet by the company.

The smartphone features a 6.26-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and a punch-hole design. Instead of the rear-mounted or in-display fingerprint sensor, it comes with a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the company’s own Kirin 980 octa-core chipset. It comes in a single variant that packs 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage without support for expandable storage.

For capturing selfies, they are fitted with 32-megapixel front-facing cameras. It also carries support for Face Unlock feature. On the back side, it comes with a quad camera setup featuring a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens with f/2.2 aperture, a 48-megapixel main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

The phone runs Huawei’s Magic UI 2.0 custom user interface which is based on Android 9 Pie operating system. It is fuelled by a 3,650mAh battery with support for Fast Charging technology. The device measures 154.25 x 73.97 x 7.87mm and weighs 174 grams.

The first sale of Honor 20i will start on June 18. Its color variants are Midnight Black, Gradient Blue and Gradient Red. The Honor 20 will be available for buying from June 25. It can be bought in colors such as Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue. The Chinese firm did not confirm the release date of Honor 20 Pro at the launch event. However, it is expected to release in the market soon. Phantom Black and Phantom Blue are its color variants. The Honor 20 series will be also available for purchase through leading offline stores across the country.

Also, Honor 20 phones will be also rivaling with the Asus 6Z smartphone in the affordable flagship phone category. While the pricing of the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro are currently under the wraps, they are expected to be priced around Rs. 40,000. The Honor 20i will be an upper mid-range phone with impressive selfie shooting capabilities. It could be priced around Rs. 20,000. The Honor 20i, Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro will be exclusively available for purchase through Flipkart. Apart from launching the Honor 20 series of smartphones tomorrow in India, the Chinese firm will be also debuting the Honor Pad 5 tablet.

Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro Specifications

The Honor 20 and 20 Pro feature 6.26-inch IPS LCD full HD+ panels with a punch-hole at the top-left corner for the 32-megapixel selfie camera. The Kirin 980 chipset powers both smartphones. The Honor 20 has 6 GB of RAM while the Pro variant has 8 GB of RAM.

The Honor 20’s quad camera module has a 48-megapixel main sensor, an ultrawide 16-megapixel sensor, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the other side, the Honor 20 Pro has 48-megapixel, 8-m megapixel telephoto lens, a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The Honor 20 has 3,750mAh battery and Honor 20 Pro has a 4,000mAh battery. Both support 22.5W fast charging. They are also equipped with side-mounted fingerprint scanners. The EMUI 9 based Android 9 Pie OS comes preloaded on these devices.

The Honor 20i has a 6.21-inch IPS LCD screen with waterdrop notch. It is powered by Kirin 710 chipset and 6 GB of RAM. It includes an inbuilt storage of 128 GB. The rear shell of the phone features 24-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera setup. It is packed with a 3,400mAh battery that supports 10W charging.

The Honor Pad 5 is a budget-friendly tablet with 10.1-inch display. The older Kirin 659 chipset powers the tablet with up to 4 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of native storage. Some of its other features like GPU Turbo technology support and stereo speakers powered by Harmon-Kardon.

AnTuTu’s top 10 list of best performing Android smartphones for April was led by Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer Edition, Xiaomi Mi 9 and Black Shark 2 gaming phone. The benchmarking platform the top 10 list of smartphones with topnotch performance for May 2019. Various flagship phones from China were tested between May 1 and May 30 to gauge their performance. Also, at least 100 units per model were tested using the latest edition of the AnTuTu benchmarking app to compile the list for the previous month.

As it can be seen in the list below, the Nubia Red Magic 3 gaming-focused phone has bagged number one position in the top 10 best performing smartphones list with an average benchmarking score of 380,921. Apart from the Red Magic 3, the ZTE Axon 10 Pro is also a new entrant in the list. The ZTE has managed to salvage the second position with an AnTuTu score of 376,916.

The next positions on the list are occupied by Xiaomi devices. The Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer Edition is on the third place with an AnTuTu score of 376,092. It is followed by Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone with a benchmarking score of 374,736. Placed on the fifth position is Xiaomi Mi 9 with a score of 372,422.

The Meizu 16s has occupied the sixth position with an AnTuTu score of 370,315. Another new entrant on the list is OnePlus 7 Pro. With an average benchmarking score of 368,834, the OnePlus phone is now sitting on the seventh spot on the list. The Lenovo Z6 Pro is on the eight position with a score of 363,399. The Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ are on the ninth and tenth positions. They have respectively scored 362,450 and 361,394.

It is surprising to see the OnePlus 7 Pro only managing to secure seventh position on the list. AnTuTu has claimed that it is because of the high refresh rate of the display that consumes more power. So, the operating system running on the phone has been optimized for increasing its endurance and it does not completely take advantage of Snapdragon 855 mobile platform’s potential. Hence, the smartphone has acquired low average benchmarking score on AnTuTu.

The Vivo iQOO is no longer present on the list because its average benchmarking score is below 360k. AnTuTu has claimed that the AnTuTu score of the phone went down after the recent software update. All the ten phones that have made it to the list of top 10 best performing Android phones for May 2019 are powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset. None of the Kirin 985 SoC driven phone are present on the list. Probably, the upcoming Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro phones may make it to the list in the next month’s AnTuTu’s top 10 list of best performing Android phone.

Strangely, the OPPO 10x Zoom Edition is missing from the list. Hopefully, it will appear along with some with other phones such as Redmi K20 Pro and OnePlus 7 in the next month’s AnTuTu list.

Huawei’s Honor brand has unveiled its latest smartphones – the Honor 20 and the Honor 20 Pro in its home market, China. The flagship models were first launched last week at an event in London. The launch event gave us the opportunity to get an in-depth knowledge of the specifications and features of both smartphones. Here’s a brief recap, as well as the pricing and availability details for the Chinese market.

Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro Specs

The Honor 20 models both have a punch hole display like that of the Honor View 20. They both equally pack the same 6.26-inch All-View Display with the punch-hole housing a 32MP camera in both phones.

The models are powered by the Hisilicon Kirin 980 flagship chipset. In China, the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro are both available in 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB memory options.

The camera aspect is where the Honor 20 series excel. The Honor 20 Pro packs a quad-camera setup comprising a 16MP f/2.2 super-wide angle camera, a 48MP main Sony IMX586 camera with an f/1.4 aperture. The f/1.4 aperture is the largest on a mobile phone. Finally, there is an 8MP f/2.4 Telephoto camera and a 2MP f/2.4 Macro camera. Both the 48MP primary sensor and 8MP telephoto lens have 4-axis OIS. There is also a laser autofocus module for superfast focusing. The Honor 20 Pro also supports up to 30x digital zoom.

On the other hand, the Honor 20 has almost similar configuration except that the 48MP camera has an f/1.8 aperture. Also, the 8MP f/2.4 Telephoto camera is swapped for a 2MP dept of field sensor. 

Honor 20 & Honor 20 Pro: Prices and Availability

The Honor 20 Pro landed Europe with a starting price tag of €599 while the Honor 20 price starts at €499. However, in China, the devices come with much lower price tags. As for their prices, the Honor 20 8GB+128GB variant is priced at 2699 yuan ($390) while the 8GB+256GB version comes in at 2999 yuan ($434). On the other hand, the Honor 20 Pro 8GB+128GB model is priced at 3,199 yuan ($462) and the 8GB+256GB version costs 3499 yuan ($506). Considering that these are 8GB RAM phones, coupled with the sleek design and powerful hardware, the prices are just spot-on.

The Honor 20 is expected to go on sale at 10:08 AM UTC+8 on June 1. While the Honor 20 Pro sale will commence at 0:00 on June 18. The models will be sold simultaneously on VMall, Huawei official mall, Jingdong, Tmall, Suning Tesco, Honor official website.

But the Honor 20 is not the only affordable flagship launched in 2019. Asus Zenfone 6 and OnePlus 7 will be one of its most aggressive competitors: both were launched in May just like the Honor 20, and all these devices are available in the same price range. With this comparison, we will try to make you understand which one offers the highest value for money, at least according to your needs.

Asus Zenfone 6 vs Huawei Honor 20 vs OnePlus 7

Design

Aesthetically, I define Honor 20 and Asus Zenfone 6 better because of their original form factor. The former eliminates the bezels around the display and the notch thanks to a punch-hole screen which embeds a front camera. The latter is even more innovative with its rotating main cameras which can also be used as selfie cameras. Thanks to this solution, the screen-to-body ratio of the Asus Zenfone 6 is very high and there is a full screen display even without a notch. The phone also comes with an outstanding build quality thanks to its Gorilla Glass display and back cover. I personally prefer the Asus Zenfone 6, but some may like the Honor 20 due to its more attractive glass back and its very compact dimensions compared to its rivals.

Display

Despite having a traditional IPS display instead of an AMOLED panel like most of the actual flagships, the Asus Zenfone 6 is still able to deliver the best viewing experience. The panel has very realistic colors and it supports both the HDR10 technology and 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage. OnePlus 7 has an AMOLED display, but it can not provide the same color accuracy. On the other hand, it offers an in-display fingerprint reader. Given that Honor 20 is equipped with a midrange-class IPS panel which is also smaller and less comfortable for advanced users, Asus Zenfone 6 wins the display comparison.

Hardware/Software

Asus Zenfone 6 and OnePlus 7 come with exactly the same hardware department composed of a Snapdragon 855 chipset by Qualcomm, up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. But despite both are among the fastest flagships and they have the same components, the OnePlus 7 will likely be faster due to its better software optimization and a user interface close to stock Android. But we still did not test the Asus Zenfone 6, so it is too early for a definitive verdict. Also note that the Asus Zenfone 6 has expandable storage (up to 1 TB), while OnePlus 7’s storage is not expandable.

Camera

At least judging from the specs on the paper, Honor 20 has a more complete and versatile camera side which should click more interesting photos than Asus Zenfone 6 and OnePlus 7. On the rear side, it boasts a quad camera setup composed of a main 48 MP sensor, a 16 MP ultrawide lens, a dedicated macro camera and even a depth sensor. On the front, you get an amazing 32 MP selfie camera.

Battery

If we consider all the real last-generation flagships, Asus Zenfone 6 is the one with the longest battery life. Thanks to a huge 5000 mAh battery, it can always last two days. OnePlus 7 and Honor 20 should come with just marginal differences in battery life.

Price

Both Honor 20 and Asus Zenfone 6 are priced just €500/$555 in their base variants, while OnePlus 7 starts from €550/$611. Overall, I personally define the Asus Zenfone 6 a more interesting device due to its amazing display, its huge battery, innovative design, and stereo speakers.

Today, at an event in London, Honor unveiled its latest smartphones – the Honor 20 and the Honor 20 Pro. Both phones bring a stunning new design, a focus on photography, and a competitive price tag.

Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro Design

The Honor 20 series have a punch hole display like that of the Honor View 20. It is a 6.26-inch All-View Display with a hole that houses a 32MP camera in both phones.

The back of the phone is covered in glass with three layers. There is the main glass layer at the top, a color layer in the middle and a depth layer at the bottom. The depth layer is said to create a sense of depth when light passes through. Honor says it was able to combine the three layers to form a 3D Triple Mesh using what it calls Advanced compression technology. The design is completed with a four-sided 3D curved glass.

The Honor 20 Pro comes in Phantom Black (a mix of purple and black) and Phantom Blue (mix of blue and green). The Honor 20 will be available in Sapphire Blue, Midnight Black, and Icelandic White. The Pro model also has a black Moschino special edition.

Honor 20 Pro and Honor 20 Cameras

Let’s take a look at the camera specs which is the main selling point before diving into the rest of the specs.

The Honor 20 Pro has a quad-camera setup. A 16MP f/2.2 super-wide angle camera, a 48MP Sony IMX586 camera with an f/1.4 aperture – the largest on a mobile phone, an 8MP f/2.4 Telephoto camera and a 2MP f/2.4 Macro camera. Both the 48MP primary sensor and 8MP telephoto lens have 4-axis OIS. There is also a laser autofocus module for superfast focusing.

The IMX 586 camera has a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor which is 25% larger than that of the iPhone Xs Max and Galaxy S10+. Combined with its large f/1.4 aperture and 204800 ISO sensitivity, the result is stunning photographs.

The Honor 20 Pro has a 16MP ultra-wide angle camera with a 117° FOV. It also works with AIS Super Night Mode for super-wide angle low-light images. The telephoto camera, on the other hand, provides a 3x optical zoom which lets you get closer to your object without losing details. The Honor 20 Pro also supports up to 30x digital zoom!

Other features include 4cm Macro photography, AIS Super Night Mode for high-quality low-light photos, 48MP ultra-clarity mode for high-quality daytime photos, and a handheld moon shot mode.

The Honor 20 Pro has a DxOMark score of 111, tying with the OnePlus 7 Pro.

The standard Honor 20 also has a quad-camera setup which includes the same 16MP f/2.2 Super-wide angle camera, a 48MP primary camera but with an f/1.8 aperture, a 2MP depth assist camera, and a 2MP f/2.4 Macro camera.

Specs

Both phones are powered by the Kirin 980. The Honor 20 Pro has 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage while the Honor 20 has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. They use the new EROFS system software which increases read speed by 20% and reduces System ROM size by 14%.

The Honor 20 Pro and Honor 20 don’t have an AMOLED display, so there is no in-display fingerprint scanner. Rather than go with a rear-mounted design, the fingerprint scanner is on the side where it doubles as the power button.

The Honor 20 Pro has a 4000mAh battery while the Honor 20 has a 3750mAh battery. Both support 22.5W SuperCharge fast charging which allows you to get up to 50% battery in half an hour. The Pro version has a new Graphene cooling sheet technology with a 27% increase in heat dissipation efficiency. There is also GPU Turbo 3.0 for 60fps gaming on both devices. The Honor 20 series will also get an exclusive Fortnite Wonder Outfit.

The two phones don’t have an audio jack but they come with a 9.1 surround sound feature that is said to work with most headphones and earphones. Both phones run a new version of Magic UI out of the box with 43% faster tap response and a 57% improvement in UI operation.

Price

The Honor 20 Pro’s price is €599 while the Honor 20’s price is €499. Honor didn’t reveal when the phones will be available for purchase.

There’s still a week left before the Honor 20 series official launch. Honor will unveil the new devices at an event in London and China. Zhao Ming, President of Honor smartphone today revealed new sample photos taken from Honor 20 Pro showcasing its ability to capture photos in low-light conditions. Upon extracting EXIF data from photos, it appears the Honor Pro 20 carriers world’s first f/1.4 aperture on a smartphone.

Furthermore, a new teaser is also pushed by Honor’s official Weibo handle confirming the quad camera setup on the upcoming device. As leaked earlier, there will be dual vertical strips on the rear side – one for the triple camera module and the other for ToF depth sensor and an LED flash.

Honor also confirmed the presence of 48 MP AI clarity mode for impressive low-light photography. The large aperture will help the camera to capture more light even though if it is dark. It will help to reduce noise and improve the quality of photos taken in the low-light environment. Zhao Ming revealed the company has already sent Honor 20 Pro to DxOMark for rating, and they are keen to know the scores soon.

Honor 20 Pro rumored specifications

Honor 20 Pro will have a 6.26-inch IPS punch-hole display with the resolution of 2340 x 1080 and a pixel density of 412. It will be powered by Kirin 980 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.

Its punch-hole display is reported to have a 32MP sensor on the front for selfies. At the back, there will be a Quad Camera setup with a 48 MP primary sensor paired with 12MP Super Wide Angle camera, a 2MP depth Assist Camera, and another 2MP Macro camera.

The Honor 20 and 20 Pro are expected to rival with recently unveiled OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro smartphones in various markets.

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is getting ready to launch its Honor 20 series smartphones at a launch event on 21st May in London. Ahead of the launch, the company has started teasing features of the upcoming phones.

In one such teaser, the company posted an image on Weibo along with the text that reads “Fantastic beauty, four photos”. This confirms that the Honor 20 will indeed come with quad camera setup on the back panel.

Earlier, an image of the phone’s back camera setup had leaked online. It revealed that the Honor 20 will have a 48MP Sony IMX586 as the primary sensor, along with a 16MP Super wide-angle lens, a 2 MP third sensor and another 2 MP sensor, possibly for depth sensing.

Honor’s President Zhao Ming also shared a Night Scene photograph on Weibo, which could possibly be taken with the Honor 20 or Honor 20 Pro. However, the branding watermark is blurred so we cannot say for sure. The image has excellent details, noise reduction and has captured a good amount of light.

According to the leaks, the Honor 20 will feature a 6.26-inch IPS-LCD display that skips the notch for a punch hole design. It offers 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and a pixel density of 412ppi.

The smartphone will be powered by the company’s own flagship chipset — HiSilicon Kirin 980 octa-core SoC, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There will likely be other memory configurations but the above if for Europe.

The benchmark score coming through Geekbench also points to the use of the latest Kirin chipset. On the single core, the device scored 3241 points while on the multicore test, it peaked at 9706 points.

The device doesn’t have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Since the phone comes with an IPS-LCD display, it does not have an in-display fingerprint scanner. Thus, Honor has settled for a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as the power button. We have already seen this on the Samsung Galaxy S10e.

Running on Android 9 Pie operating system with Magic UI 2.1 on top, the device will be powered by a 3,750mAh battery that supports 22.5W SuperCharge fast charging technology. The Honor 20 will be available in Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue but the pricing information is not yet known.

The device comes with the model number Huawei YAL-L21 and runs on Android 9.0 Pie operating system which will definitely have te EMUI 9.1 underlay. The device comes with 6GB of RAM but there will likely be other RAM sizes. The chipset wasn’t disclosed but it is listed to feature an octa-core processor and that is likely the Kirin 980. The benchmark score also points to the latest Kirin chipset. On the single core, the device scored 3241 points while on the multicore test, it peaked at 9706 points.

Several leaked renders back this design style. The Honor 20 is expected to house a 3,650mAh battery with support for 22.5W rapid charging.

The Honor 20 series launch is exactly a week away. The lineup will include the Honor 20 and the Honor 20 Pro. Ahead of the launch, renders and specs of the Honor 20 have surfaced on the web, thanks to Winfuture.de.

The Honor 20 will have an IPS-LCD display that skips the notch for a punch hole. The display which is 6.26-inches is smaller than that of the Honor View 20. It has a resolution of 2340 x 1080 and a pixel density of 412. There is a slit in the frame above the display for the earpiece and there is a slightly thick chin.

The flagship is powered by the Kirin 980 and is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There will likely be other configurations but the above if for Europe. There is no mention of storage expansion and we do not expect one since the Honor 10 and Honor View 20 do not have one.

As revealed in a leak by Twitter user @Rodent950, the Honor 20 has a quad camera setup and these new renders not only confirm that but also the design. Three of the camera sensors are stacked on top of one another and share the same housing with the LED flash. The fourth sensor is on the right of the third camera. Written on the back of the phone is “48MP AI VISION”.

The primary camera is a 48MP sensor, and it is paired with a 16MP Super Wide Angle camera, a 2MP Depth Assist camera, and a 2MP Macro camera for macro photography. The front-facing camera is reported to be a 32MP sensor.

The Honor 20 doesn’t have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It also does not have an in-display fingerprint scanner since it is an IPS-LCD display. Honor has settled for a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as the power button.

Rumors have it that the Honor 20 will have an f/1.8 aperture 48-megapixel main sensor, a ultrawide lens of 16-megapixel, a 2-megapixel depth sensor and a 2-megapixel macro camera. There is still a little over a week before the Honor 20 series’ official launch. The phones will also be unveiled in London, exactly a week after the OnePlus 7 series. While we wait, new posters have surfaced that tease the cameras the phones will have.

These posters not only confirm the number of (rear) cameras on the phones but one of them actually tells us what type of lens each sensor uses.

As you can see in the images above, there are four piercings on the lips and ear, signifying the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro will have quad rear cameras. The images also show us the cameras are arranged in an L-shape.

The third poster is the one that actually tells us the type of lens each sensor has. The first bubble has a regular picture which represents the standard lens. The second bubble is an ultra-wide angle picture as it shows a wider view of the first image and thus confirms the phones will have an ultra-wide angle lens.

The third bubble has a really close-up picture of a leaf with the background blurred, representing the macro lens. The last bubble shows a close-up view of the two birds in images 1 and 2, confirming the phone also has a telephoto zoom lens.

Last week, the camera specs for the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro were leaked. The Honor 20 will have a 48MP f/1.8 primary camera, a 16MP super wide-angle camera, a 2MP depth assist camera, and a 2MP Macro camera. The Honor 20 Pro will also have a 48MP primary camera too but with a larger f/1.4 aperture. There is a 16MP super wide-angle camera too but it swaps the 2MP depth sensor for an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. However, it keeps the 2MP Macro camera.

Honor is expanding its affordable lineup with Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro soon. Both the devices are slated for launch in London on 21st of this month. There’s minimal information available about the upcoming device as of now. However, the rumor mill managed to bring forward some details like the presence of pop-up camera design, quad rear camera module with a ToF and an LED flash, and other details. A piece of new information appeared today via a protective shell teased by Honor VP’s Weibo handle.

The protective shell is teasing two vertical strips on the rear side of the device. Some tech experts believe, a triple camera module will take place on the left strip, whereas a macro lens or ToF sensor will be present on the right strip with an LED flash. Its triple camera module is expected to carry a 16-Megapixel Super wide angle lens, 48-Megapixel primary sensor, 8-Megapixel Telephoto lens, and a 2MP macro lens. The camera will surely benefit from added 4-axis OIS (Optical Image stabilization) and Laser Autofocus.

A sticker on the Honor 20 Pro’s protective shell is bearing a model number RNY-AL01, and some other details such as 4G compatibility. The protective shell is hinting towards the presence of an on-screen fingerprint sensor, rather than the one on the rear side. Additionally, placeholders for volume rockers and power button are present on the right side of the device. Whereas on the left, a small opening for the SIM card slot can be seen.
