Huawei has opened up the EMUI 10 public beta program to five more devices today. These devices are the Huawei Nova 4e, Honor 20i, Huawei Maimang 8, Huawei Maimang 7, and the Huawei Enjoy 9S. As per usual, this only applies to the Chinese ROM, and there are plenty of bugs within the software so install at your own risk.

Apply for EMUI 10 Beta Program

The user needs to install a beta user app and then follow the instructions below.

1. Open beta user app and accept terms and conditions.
2. Now, login with your Huawei ID, as well as your phone number and email.
3. Select “Personal” from the bottom bar > tap on “Join Project” > select “Available Project” and finally Sign Up.

Note: Before applying, make sure you’re on the latest version of the EMUI, and the device should not be rooted. There will be some bugs and third-party apps can behave abnormally. Your device must have 6GB of free internal space. Otherwise, the upgrade may fail.

The Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro smartphones are equipped with some common features. Both devices feature full HD+ 6.26-inch IPS LCD panels with punch-hole design. They are fitted with side-mounted fingerprint readers. The Kirin 980 chipset is present under the hood of both smartphones. They are loaded with EMUI 9.1 based Android 9 Pie OS. They also carry support for face unlock feature. For capturing selfies, they are fitted with 32-megapixel front-facing cameras.

The Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro smartphones have quad camera setup on their rear. Honor 20i

The Honor 20i features a 6.21-inch IPS LCD display with waterdrop-style notch that houses a selfie camera of 32-megapixel. The rear side of the phone features a triple camera setup. It comprises of a primary sensor of 24-megapixel with f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture.

The Kirin 710 chipset powers the Honor 20i with 4 GB of RAM. The handset comes with an internal storage of 128 GB. The EMU 9.1 based Android 9 Pie OS. There is a 3,400mAh battery onboard that lacks support for fast charging.

The Honor 20 series will be exclusively available for purchase through Flipkart apart from the official online store of Honor India. The Honor 20 is priced at Rs. 14,999 (~$216). The Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro respectively cost Rs. 32,999 ($475) and Rs. 39,999 (~$576).

The first sale of Honor 20i will start on June 18. Its color variants are Midnight Black, Gradient Blue and Gradient Red. The Honor 20 will be available for buying from June 25. It can be bought in colors such as Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue. The Chinese firm did not confirm the release date of Honor 20 Pro at the launch event. However, it is expected to release in the market soon. Phantom Black and Phantom Blue are its color variants. The Honor 20 series will be also available for purchase through leading offline stores across the country.

The Huawei midrange family is actually so big that it is almost impossible to remember all the mid-rangers released by the Chinese company in the last year, especially in the Chinese market. The nth of them is the Honor 20i, which will soon hit the global market under the Honor 20 Lite moniker. And in the actual period, there is nothing more appropriate than comparing the new handset with the other recent mid-rangers from Huawei. Among the latest ones, there is the Huawei Nova 4e, recently launched globally as the Huawei P30 Lite, and the Huawei Enjoy 9s that is a slightly better variant of the P Smart+ 2019. We are talking about very similar devices, but they come with some important differences that you will discover in this specs comparison.

Design

The gradient glass back covers of these devices are simply amazing. They are both elegant and very attractive, so they surely deserve attention when it comes to aesthetics. My favorite one is Huawei Nova 4e, but for a reason, that has nothing to do with the look. The Nova 4e, also known as the P30 Lite in the global market, is a thinner device, it is more lightweight and it is also more compact. That is why it wins the design comparison.

Display

On the paper, Huawei Enjoy 9s seems to have a slightly better display thanks to the LTPS technology improving some key parameters. But we are only talking about marginal differences, so do not focus so much on this. All of these devices come with a waterdrop display and very narrow bezels, as well as a similar size. Huawei Nova 4e has a slightly smaller display than Honor 20i and Huawei Enjoy 9s, which makes it slightly more compact.

Specs & Software

You get exactly the same chipset in each case: a midrange-class Kirin 710 that offers more or less the same performances as the Snapdragon 660. The only thing changing is the memory configuration. Huawei Enjoy 9s comes with just 4 GB of RAM, so it loses the comparison. The winner is the Honor 20i as it is equipped with up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage, while the most powerful configuration of the Nova 4e is 6/128 GB. All of these phones are based on Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9 to customize it.

Camera

Overall, the best camera department belongs to the Huawei Nova 4e, at least on the paper. In each case, you get a triple camera setup with a main 24 MP sensor, an ultrawide lens, and a depth sensor, but on the Huawei Nova 4e, the stabilization seems better, even though it is not optical stabilization. But note that Honor 20i has an important advantage: it is the only that can record videos in 1080p at 60 fps. Huawei Enjoy 9s loses the comparison because of its below-average 8 MP selfie camera, while both the Honor 20i and Huawei Nova 4e come with 32 MP front cameras.

Battery

We did not establish a winner of the battery comparison because these devices feature similar battery capacities and also similar specs, so the battery life varies just slightly depending on the scenario. Huawei Nova 4e’s battery is slightly smaller, but the phone also comes with a faster charging technology thanks to a power of 18W.

Price

Despite they come with very similar specifications, these devices carry different price tags. Huawei Enjoy 9s starts from just €200/$224 and it is the most affordable one, Honor 20i has a starting price tag of €210/$235, and Huawei Nova 4e costs at least €270/$303 in its base variant. Due to its more compact body and its amazing cameras, Huawei Nova 4e is the winner of this comparison, but not for a big margin. That is why you would better go for the Honor 20i because of its way more affordable price.

It is even more attractive if you consider that it is lighter and thinner than both Redmi Note 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy M30. It is powered by the upper-midrange Snapdragon 675 chipset that Xiaomi defines even better than the Snapdragon 710 due to its high CPU power. Honor 20i comes in a variant with more internal storage (256 GB), but its SoC is not at the same level as the Snapdragon 675; just to give you an idea, the Kirin 710 can be compared to the Snapdragon 660 as it offers very similar daily and graphics performance. Samsung Galaxy M30 is the less suitable one for people searching for high performance. Each device comes with a customized Android version, but while Honor 20i and Redmi Note 7 Pro have Android Pie out of the box, Samsung Galaxy M30 still comes with Android Oreo.

Camera

Despite it is the only to still come with a dual camera, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro should provide the most impressive photo quality thanks to its main 48 MP sensor. It manages to shoot pretty nice photos in low light conditions and it captures a high level of detail. On the other hand, Honor 20i comes with a triple camera setup including a useful ultrawide lens. Further, it comes with a way better selfie camera sporting a 32 MP resolution. Samsung Galaxy M30’s camera is definitely not its strongest point, but it is still above-average for a midrange device like this.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy M30 wins the battery comparison due to a much bigger battery with a 5000 mAh capacity. But Redmi Note 7 Pro remains a great battery phone with its 4000 mAh. Honor 20i is just average with a 3400 mAh unit.

The Honor 20i that sports a 3D glass rear measures 154.8 x 73.8 x 8mm and weighs 164 grams. It houses a 6.21-inch IPS LCD panel with a u-shaped notch for the front camera. The Honor 20 smartphone that has a model number of YAL-AL00 / TL00 has been approved by the 3C authority in China. Through the certification it has been revealed that the Honor 20’s retail box will include HW-050450C01 charger that is equipped with support for 22.5W rapid charging.

Rumors have revealed that that the Honor 20i will be featuring a 6.41-inch OLED display with in-screen fingerprint reader and a triple camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 20-megapixel secondary lens and an 8-megapixel sensor. It is expected to arrive with a 32-megapixel selfie camera. The phone could be fueled by Kirin 980 SoC and 3,650mAh battery.

Many smartphone brands have launched a special edition or limited edition smartphone for promotions. Now, Honor has announced that it has partnered with Aape to launch a special edition of Honor 20i named Honor 20i Aape Edition.

The news comes just a day after the Honor 20i was made available for pre-orders in China. The phone is scheduled to go official on 17th April, tomorrow. It remains to be seen how this special edition differs from the standard version.

Coming to the specifications, the Honor 20i will be featuring a 6.21-inch IPS LCD display with a waterdrop notch. The screen will carry support for Full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The handset will offer more than 90 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Under the hood, the company’s won Kirin 710 octa-core chipset will be powering the smartphone. It will come in three variants based on the memory configurations — 4GB RAM + 128GB storage, 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM + 256GB storage.

As for the camera, the phone will feature a 32-megapixel front-facing camera with AI-driven selfie beautification features. The rear triple camera setup will include a 24-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. There will also be a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

In the software department, the smartphone will be running Android 9 Pie operating system with the company’s custom EMUI 9.0.1 UI on top. The phone will also come with support for Game Turbo 2.0. The device will be powered by a 3,400mAh battery which will also carry support for 10W charging.

The Honor 20i selfie-centric smartphone will go official on April 17. Two days ahead of its announcement, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has started receiving the pre-orders of the phone through its Vmall online store. The product page of the smartphone is now live. It has revealed the entire specs and variants of the smartphone.

The Honor 20i will be available in three color variants in China such as Gradient Blue, Gradient Red and Magic Night Black. It will be hitting the Chinese markets in three models such as 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. There is no information available on the pricing of the Honor 20i variants.

Honor 20i Specifications and Features

The Honor 20i will be featuring a 6.21-inch IPS LCD display with waterdrop notch. It will carry support for full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect. The handset will offer more than 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. The TUV Rheinland certified will protect users from harmful blue rays emitted by the screen.

The Weibo account of Vmall (official online store for Huawei and Honor phones) has confirmed that the pre-orders of the Honor 20i will begin on April 15 at 10:08 AM (local time).

In few hours, it may cross 20,000 mark.  It appears that before the phone becomes available for pre-orders, its registrations count may reach around 40,000 mark. Honor will be launching the Honor 20i smartphone in China on April 17. The very same phone is expected to release soon in the European markets as Honor 20 Lite. The Geekbench listing of Honor HRY-AL00Ta (Honor 20i) reveals that its 1.71 GHz processor is coupled with 4 GB of RAM and it is loaded with Android 9 Pie OS. The exact name of the processor is not mentioned on the Geekbench listing. However, the smartphone is expected to be fueled by the homebrewed Kirin 710 SoC.

In the single-core test of Geekbench, the Honor 20i has scored 1535 points. It has recorded a score of 5339 in the multi-core test.

The video reveals that its key feature will be its AI driven 32-megapixel selfie camera. At the same unveil event, the Chinese firm will be also debuting the Honor MagicBook 2019 to succeed the original Honor MagicBook laptop from last year.

The Honor 20i teaser has not revealed any information on the specs of the phone. However, it does confirm that the phone will be featuring a waterdrop-style notched display. It seems to be the Honor HRY-TL00T / AL00T / AL00Ta that was recently approved by China’s TENAA telecom authority.
