Earlier today, Honor finally announced the Honor X10 in China after days of leaks and teasers. At the launch event, the brand’s president George Zhao aka Zhao Ming revealed that the company has so far sold over 80 million Honor X series phones worldwide.

Honor has been selling Honor X series of smartphone from late 2013. The first phone in the series was Honor 3X, a rebranded Huawei Ascend G750. It has been later followed by newer models every year since then. We even got to see some Pro and Max versions along the way.

The Honor X10 launched today is the first 5G model in the series. Thus, at the beginning of the keynote, Mr Zhao recalled the series as a whole. He pointed out that they have sold over 80 million Honor X series phones worldwide since its inception.

We feel the count could have been more if the brand had launched Honor 9X series globally since this series alone shipped 10 million units in China. The original Honor 9X Pro did launch in India recently but without GMS (Google Mobile Services), it will be a tough sell in the country.

On the other hand, Huawei US ban has been further extended for a year along with restrictions to chip supplies. This will impact the Chinese telecom giant including its Honor sub-brand severely. 

The sales of Huawei / Honor smartphones worldwide are expected to go down rather improve going by the current situation.

While Huawei has promised Android Q will be available for several of its devices in multiple instances, Honor seems to have only confirmed the update for the Honor 20 series. However, that isn’t the case. Honor India actually revealed over a week ago that two other phones will be getting the Android Q update. These two phones are the Honor 8X and the Honor 10.

Both the Honor 8X and the Honor 10 were released last year and already have successors – Honor 9X and Honor 20 respectively. Both phones launched with EMUI 8.x based on Android 8.1 Oreo but have now been updated to Android Pie.

The evidence that both phones will get the update to Android Q are replies on Twitter to questions asked on if both phones will get the update.

The Honor 8X and Honor 10 should get the update along with EMUI 10 which should debut with the Mate 30 series later this year. However, the update may not arrive on both phones until much later.

There are still other devices that Honor hasn’t confirmed will get the Android Q update such as the Honor View 20 and the Honor Play. We will be assuming that since it has confirmed the update for the Honor 8X and Honor 10, their siblings – the Honor 8X Max and Honor Note 10 will also be updated to Android Q.

The Honor 7X launched in 2017 with Android Nougat out of the box. It later got an update that brought Android Oreo. Now Honor seems to be working on releasing EMUI 9.0 based on Android Pie for it.

The Chinese variants of the phone recently received a beta build of EMUI 9 which means a stable update should arrive in the near future. The Chinese variants that have gotten the beta build have model numbers BND-AL00, BND-TL10, and BND-AL10. Below are the build numbers for each of them:

Huawei still hasn’t issued an official statement about Android Pie coming to the Honor 7X but we do not think they would go through the stress of releasing a beta build if there isn’t a plan to release a stable version.

Honor has recently introduced the Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max smartphones in China. Just as the Honor 7X from was well-received by the customers all over the world, Honor President Zhao Ming is expecting that the Honor 8X series will also encounter impressive sales. The company has set a goal to achieve 20 million units sales of the Honor 8X which is around twice the amount Honor 7X units that were sold.

During a media interview, Zhao Ming said that the Honor 8X does not have a real competitor when it comes its pricing and design. He claimed that the current sales of the Honor 7x is around 15 million units. Hence, the Honor 8X sales target is 20 million units.

The Honor 8X with 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM is priced at 1,399 Yuan (~$204) whereas the other variant featuring 64 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM costs 1,599 Yuan (~$238). The highest configuration that carries a pricing of 1,899 Yuan (~$277) has 128 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM. The pre-sales of the smartphone will take place between Sept. 6 and Sept. 10 in China and its official sales will start on Sept. 11 at 10:08 AM.

The Honor 8X features Rheinland TUV certified display which means that the display of the phone does not emit harmful blue rays. Moreover, it is equipped with a marvelous 6.5-inch screen that offers 91 percent screen-to-body ratio. The Kirin 710 chipset is present under the hood of the device and it is packed with a 3,750mAh battery.

On the other side, the Honor 8X Max is larger device with a Rheinland TUV certified massive display of 7.12 inches. The Snapdragon 636 and 5,000mAh battery are the driving force of the smartphone. It is also equipped with Dolby panoramic sound. The 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage + 4 GB RAM variants of the Honor 8X Max re respectively priced tag 1,499 Yuan (~$220) and 1,799 Yuan (~$263). There will be Snapdragon 660 edition of the smartphone which is slated to hit the market in the next month.

A few weeks ago, Huawei announced the release schedule for its GPU Turbo technology for supported devices. At the moment, the Huawei Mate P20, P20 Pro, Mate 10, and Mate 10 Pro have received a beta version of the feature. Come Tuesday, it will be the turn of the mid-range Honor 7x and two other devices.

The Honor 7X was released last year and comes with a Kirin 659 processor. It is one of Huawei’s more popular mid-range phones globally. When it receives the update that brings a beta version of the feature, it will be the first powered by a Kirin 659 SoC to do so.

The other two devices that will also get it alongside the Honor 7X are the Honor 9i and the Honor 9 Lite (Youth Edition). The Honor 9i mentioned above is the recently released one and not the Honor 9i (Maimang 6/Nova 2i) sold in India.

Huawei has now officially confirmed that the name of the 14 Huawei smartphones that will be receiving the GPU Turbo technology update. The company has also revealed on the approximate time period on when these devices will be receiving the GPU Turbo update.

In August, Huawei will be bringing the GPU Turbo technology update to users of Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Mate RS, P20 and P20 Pro. Owners of these smartphones from markets like Europe, Russia, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa will be able to take advantage of the update.

In September, the GPU Turbo update will be coming to users of Mate 10 Lite, Nova 2i, P Smart and Y9 2018 in all markets. Owners of P20 Lite in regions like Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa will be also receiving the update in the same month.

In November, the Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro, P10 and P10 Plus will be updated with GPU Turbo. The update will made available to users of these smartphones in all regions.

GPU Turbo technology was unveiled on the day when Huawei had announced Honor Play and Honor 9i smartphones in June. It is a hardware-software technology for accelerating the performance of the GPU of a smartphone. Huawei claims that the GPU Turbo technology can enhance the performance of GPU by 60 percent and at the same time it reduces its power consumption by 30 percent. It can also improve the performance AR, VR and EMUI user experience. A recent report has revealed that the Huawei MediaPad M5 is the first tablet from the company to receive GPU Turbo technology. The tablet is expected to receive the vital update in this month.

The above list does not include Honor phones. However, a recent report had revealed that some of the Honor branded smartphones will be also updated with GPU Turbo. Honor 10, Honor 9 Lite, Honor V10 and Honor 7X users located in Europe, Russia, Asia Pacific, India and Middle East will be treated with GPU Turbo update.

On the same day Huawei‘s sub-brand Honor started selling its Honor 7C smartphone in India, the company announced a permanent price cut of Rs. 1,000 on Honor 7X in the Indian market.

Honor 7X, which was launched in India around six months ago for a starting price of Rs. 12,999, has now received a price cut of Rs. 1,000 and is now available for purchase for just Rs. 11,999 while the 64GB storage model costs Rs. 14,999. It is available exclusively through online retailer Amazon India.

Along with the price cut, the smartphone has also received a new software update which brings EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. The update introduces several new features, including Face Unlock and Ride Mode.

Further, the software update also brings AR Lens, which enhances a scene from the camera app before the user clicks the photo. UPI payments will also become easier, as EMUI 8.0 will allow Paytm users to assign a fingerprint shortcut that opens to the app’s payment section.

Honor 7X, which is the successor of the Honor 6X, features a 5.93-inch Full HD+ full-screen display with narrow bezels and 18:9 aspect ratio with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and a 2.5D screen on top.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by an octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 659 chipset along with Mali T830 MP2 GPU. It packs 4GB of RAM and comes in two options in terms of internal storage — 32GB and 64GB. It also supports storage expansion through microSD card up to 256GB.

If you live in the US and own the Honor 7X, you may want to check for an update. The Huawei sub-brand has begun rolling out an EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo update to the dual-camera toting mid-ranger.

A few months ago, Huawei released a closed beta version of EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 for the Honor 7X and a couple of other Huawei phones. Now a stable version is rolling out. Below is the changelog for the update:

• New floating navigation dock: With the newly added home screen shortcut, the floating navigation dock lets users navigate and operate their device from anywhere on the screen.

• Face Unlock: Scans a recognized user’s face to unlock instantly. It also prevents unlocking with closed eyes and allows only device owners to see lock screen notification details, ensuring maximum security.

The update also brings Project Treble support.

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has officially announced that it is now rolling out an over-the-air (OTA) update for its Honor 7X smartphone that brings the face unlock feature.

With this, the Honor 7X has become the third smartphone from the China-based company to get Face Unlock update. Earlier, the Honor View10 and Honor 9 Lite have received this face unlock feature.

While the update has been rolled out, it will be completed by mid-March, said the company in a statement. P Sanjeev, Vice-President, Sales, Huawei Consumer Business Group said that ‘Face Unlock’ intelligent feature is usually available in flagship-level smartphones but Honor has introduced this feature in the coveted Honor 7X.

The Honor 7X was launched in India in December last year and is priced at Rs. 12,999 for the 32GB variant and Rs. 15,999 for the 64GB version.

The phone features a 5.93-inch Full-HD+ IPS display with screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. Under the hood, the device is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core chipset with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7GHz.

It packs 4GB RAM and comes in two storage options — 32GB and 64GB. There’s a microSD card slot, which enables users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity up to 256GB. The phone runs on EMUI 5.1, which is based on Android Nougat operating system.

Connectivity options on the Dual SIM device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB. The phone is fuelled by a 3,340mAh battery.

Last month, the company also started selling Red Edition of the Honor 7X in India, which packs 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The Huawei 7X Red Edition is priced at Rs. 12,999 in India. While the phone was launched as online-only in India, it is now available through offline channels in India.

It appears Huawei and its sub-brand Honor, enjoy confusing its customers. The Chinese giant is fond of releasing the same phone under different names in multiple markets. While that is a bit “understandable”, what we do not get is releasing the same phone under two different names in the same market.

The Honor 7X currently sold in the US market is the 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant. In other markets, the mid-ranger is also available with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Rather than launch it in a higher configuration in the US, Huawei is releasing a “brand” new model called the Huawei Mate SE!

The Mate SE has the same design, specs, and even the same Bond (BND-LXX) model number as the Honor 7X. So why not just call it the Honor 7X?

Pictures of the phone were first released on Twitter last night by Evan Blass, but he had incorrectly referred to it as a “Huawei-branded Honor 8 Pro”. Of course it is easy to see it is not the Honor 8 Pro as it as an 18:9 display.

Nevertheless, another leaker Roland Quandt (@rquandt) then corrected him with proofs that the phone is actually the Huawei Mate SE.

The phone is already on the Huawei US support page where you can download the user manual and quick start guide. The quick start guide also reveals that the phone will be available in Latin America.

Apart from that, it is currently listed on B&H but doesn’t have a price tag yet. A web cache also revealed an Amazon listing with a $249 price tag.

There is no news as to when the phone will be available for purchase but when it does, it will come unlocked in gray and gold – two colors that the Honor 7X isn’t available in in the US.

We prefer the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro for its bigger battery and its better hardware side, as well as a great selfie camera.

Honor 7X was launched in India a couple of months ago as an online-exclusive devive. Now, the China-based company has announced that the phone will be available through online retail stores as well. The Honor 7X will now be available from the company’s authorized stores and resellers starting February 9 and will be priced at Rs 15,999.

The 64GB storage variant will be available through offline stores and not the 32GB internal storage model. Also, the limited edition — Honor 7X Red Edition, which was listed on Amazon India for Rs. 12,999, will go on sale in the country from 9th February at 1:00 PM.

The phone features a 5.93-inch Full HD+ full-screen display with narrow bezels and 18:9 aspect ratio with 1080 x 2160 pixels screen resolution and 2.5D curved screen on top. Under the hood, this device is powered by the company’s own octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 659 chipset — the same processor that powers Honor 9i.

The device packs Mali T830-MP2 GPU and 4GB RAM. The phone was launched in three variants based on internal storage — 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. However, in India, the device is available in only two storage models — 32GB and 64GB. The smartphone also supports storage expansion through microSD card up to 256GB.

It comes with dual-camera setup, featuring a 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors on the rear and an 8-megapixel camera sensor on the front. The smartphone packs a 3,340mAh battery and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system based company’s own EMUI 5.1 custom skin.

However, the company has confirmed that the phone will soon receive Android 8.0 Oreo update. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS/GLONASS. There is also a fingerprint sensor on the back panel.

Honor France has revealed through a Twitter post that Honor 9 and Honor 8 Pro are getting the final update to EMUI 8.0, the latest version of the company’s user interface based on Android 8.0 Oreo. The update started rolling out yesterday (February 7) on the two high-end devices. The French division of Huawei’s sub-brand has also revealed the time frame in which two other handsets will get the update. We are referring to the older Honor 8 and the new midrange Honor 7X. In January Honor India declared that Honor 8 wouldn’t be getting EMUI 8.0 or Android Oreo because of software and hardware limitations, but it seems that they were wrong.

According to Honor France, the device will be updated to EMUI 8.0 in Q2 2018 (the period which goes from April to June), and the same will happen with the Honor 7X. At this point, we do not know who to believe about the Honor 8. The update is actually bringing important improvements to Honor 9 and 8 Pro. They include a better system stability and an optimized battery life, besides a visual refresh of the user interface. Further, new artificial intelligence features have been added.

They are similar to the ones provided by Kirin 970 and its Neural Processing Unit, even though the SoCs inside these phones do not have a dedicated module for AI. Automatic photo scene detection, instant translation, and automatic UI optimization have been added. Besides these exclusive features, there will obviously be the most important stock features included into Android Oreo. Among these, the Honor 9 and 8 Pro will get the picture-in-picture mode which will allow you to reduce app as small floating windows on the display, and you will be able to check them while doing other tasks.

Honor, the sub-brand of China-based Huawei has launched a new variant of its Honor 7X phone in the Indian market that comes in Red color. The Honor 7X Red Limited Edition has been listed on online retailer Amazon India for Rs. 12,999.

While the phone has been listed online, the company has not yet revealed availability information. The red color variant was announced last month and only 20,000 units are slated to ship across all markets where it will be released.

Apart from India, the Honor 7X Red Limited Edition will also be available in the United States, Russia, and Western European markets such as United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. Honor 7X was originally launched in India in December 2017. It’s priced at Rs. 12,999 for the 32GB storage model while the 64GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 15,999.

Apart from the red-colored body, everything else on the phone remains same as the standard edition. The phone features a 5.93-inch Full-HD+ IPS display with 2160 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the company’s own HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core processor, coupled with Mali T830 MP2 GPU, 4GB of RAM and comes in three options in two variants based on internal storage — 32GB and 64GB. It also supports storage expansion through microSD card up to 256GB.

Huawei’s Honor sub-brand has always prided itself as an online only brand. However, that has changed as they have now opened a brick and mortar store in Myanmar.The Myanmar Honor Store is its first international walk-in store.

CEO of Honor, George Zhao, who was at the official opening said the store opening is an important milestone for the brand in the Southeast Asian Market. He also announced four new Honor smartphones in the country. They are the Honor 7X, Honor V9 Play/Honor 6C Pro, Honor 6X, and Honor Play 6.

You may be wondering why none of the high-end Honor phones weren’t announced. The explanation provided is that Myanmar is still a developing smartphone market in Southeast Asia and average income is not high, so high-priced Honor phones won’t do well.

It is not surprising that Honor is including an offline presence into its plans. While millennials generally do their shopping online, regular brick and mortar stores are also pretty important for a hands-on experience with devices as well as after-sales services. Xiaomi is one brand that has also moved from being an online-only store to setting up brick and mortar stores.

The new Honor store will not only sell devices and provide after-sales services but will also serve as a hangout spot for young Honor fans.

The company has confirmed that all the variants of the Honor 7X will be updated with face unlock feature in the forthcoming weeks. Since the Honor 7X does not feature biometric sensors for the scanning in 3D like the iPhone X, its upcoming face unlock feature will rely on its 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

The facial recognition on the Honor 7X is expected to work in the same manner as the Face Unlock feature on the OnePlus phones. In other words, it will be able to unlock the phone as soon as it identifies the user. The feature is not as secure as the fingerprint scanner is, but it will be convenient way for unlocking the phone rather than entering the passcode.

The company did not confirm on the exact timeframe for the update yet. However, it has said that the OTA update would be available for all variants of the Honor 7X in the first quarter of 2018.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 has started and Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has announced the arrival of the Honor View 10 in the U.S. markets. The Chinese firm has also confirmed that it will be soon releasing a limited edition red color variant for the Honor 7X in multiple markets.

Various smartphone OEMs have red colored versions of their phones. Here is a list of our favorite red smartphones from 2017. None of these phones carry an inexpensive price tag as the red variant of the Honor 7X. Starting from Feb. 14, Honor will be selling the red Honor 7X in markets like the U.S., the U.K, France, Germany Italy, Spain, Russia and India. Since it is limited edition, the Chinese company will be selling only 20,000 units of the Honor 7X red in these countries.

Also, in each of the aforementioned countries, Honor will be giving away Honor Monster AM15 headphones as a special gift for the first 100 buyers. Finally, Xiaomi has released a phone dedicated to the international public with a stock Android version: the Mi A1. It is a midrange device, and seeing that it is a “Global” device, we think it is time to compare it with the latest international midrange phone by the most famous Chinese company in the world (at least in terms of sales): Honor 7X by Huawei. These are two devices, which can essentially replace costly flagships, offering great performance and camera quality at an affordable price tag. So, let’s see if its easy to pick one in the Honor 7X vs Xiaomi Mi A1 comparison.

Honor 7X vs Xiaomi Mi A1

The display can be defined as the main difference between these devices: on the first, we’ve got a 5.93-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a Full HD+ resolution, while Xiaomi Mi A1 has a classic 5.5-inch panel with a Full HD resolution. Thanks to the 18:9 aspect ratio, Honor 7X has compact dimensions if we compare them with the display housed in the front panel, and it also has more pixels. It is not a flagship-level camera and it is far from the ones we saw on the Xiaomi Mi6 and Mi Note 3, but it pretty decent for its price range. Note that the selfie camera should be way better on the Honor 7X with its 13 MP resolution. Thanks to online street prices, actually it is not hard to find the Xiaomi Mi A1 at a price of just 170-180 euros (200-210 dollars), while Honor 7X can be purchased for 199 dollars in the USA in its base variant with just 3 GB of RAM, and for 299 euros in Europe. Even though it is not a borderless handset, I would pick Xiaomi Mi A1 for its software, its nice camera, and its affordable price

When it comes to budget smartphones, you must accept compromises if you want to buy a decent device at an affordable price. Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus and Honor 7X are among the best midrange phones released in Q4 2017 and we also consider them two of the best smartphones in terms of quality-price ratio. Honor has taken the wraps off two new phones -the Honor View 10 and Honor 7X in Europe. The former is the same device as the Honor V10 unveiled in China last week while the Honor 7X is, well, the Honor 7X released 2 months ago in China.

Honor View 10

The Honor View 10 is a flagship device just like the Mate 10 Pro, packing nearly the same specs but with a cheaper price tag. It has a 5.99” FHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and is powered by the Kirin 970 processor, which has a dedicated NPU and brings a ton of AI features to the View 10.

The View 10 comes in a single 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM variant for Europe with the option for storage expansion (256GB max.). Like the Honor V10, it also features dual rear cameras. One is a 16MP RGB sensor and the other is a 20MP monochrome sensor. For the front camera, there is a 13MP sensor.

The Honor View 10 has a front-mounted fingerprint scanner even with its 18:9 display. There is NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-C port. The phone has a dual SIM slot with support for Dual 4G and Dual VoLTE modes.

Battery capacity for the phone is 3750mAh with support for fast charging via Huawei’s 5V/4.5A SuperCharge technology. The View 10 measures 157 x 74.98 x 6.97mm and weighs 172g. It is thinner than the Galaxy Note 8 (8.6mm) and the iPhone X (7.7mm) both of which have smaller batteries.

The View 10 runs EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. It will sell for €499 (£449) and will be available in Blue. It will go on sale January 8 in the UK, France, Spain, Germany, and Italy.

The Honor 7X on the other hand is a mid-ranger but also features interesting specs at an affordable price.

It has a 5.93” FHD+ 18:9 display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It is powered by the Kirin 659 processor and has support for storage expansion (256GB max.). There are dual rear cameras (16MP +2MP) with PDAF and portrait mode an 8MP front facing camera also with portrait mode, beauty mode, and funny filters.

The company has revealed that it will launch the Fame Red colour option for the Honor 7X smartphone on December 5. The phone has already been listed on JD.com with Flame Red colour option. Honor has also posted an image of the smartphone in this new colour shade on its social media, along with the pricing and availability information.

The smartphone will be available from December 5 at 10:08 AM, for a price of 1,299 Yuan (approximately $197) — the same price as of the other colour options. On December 5, the company is holding an event in London where it will globally launch Honor V10 and will also launch the Honor 7X in the Indian market.

For the price of 1,299 Yuan (approx. $197), you will get the 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage model. This colour option is also available for the 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage model, for a price of 1,999 Yuan (approx. $303).

The Honor 7X comes with a 5.93-inch Full HD+ full-screen display with thin-bezels and 18:9 aspect ratio with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. Under the hood, the phone is powered by an octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 659 chipset, along with 4GB of RAM.

The Honor 7X was launched nearly 2 months ago in China and has already been confirmed to launch in India and the US in December. Amazon India has already started accepting registrations ahead of its December 7 sale date. If you live in the UK, you will be getting it earlier than those in the Asian country  pre-orders have already begun.

The Honor 7X will launch on December 6 in the UK and Amazon has started taking pre-orders. The dual camera smartphone will sell for £269.00 and will be available in blue and black.

The 7X packs a 5.9” FHD+ display which provides more screen real estate than 16:9 screens. It is powered by the Kirin 659 octa-core processor clocked at 2.36GHz. The phone comes in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage variants with 4GB of RAM on all three. However, only the 4GB + 64GB model is available on Amazon UK. If you want more storage, the Honor 7X has a MicroSD card slot that allows you add up to an additional 256GB.

There is a 16MP + 2MP dual camera combination on the back and an 8MP front camera. Both the rear and selfie cameras can take portrait photos with the background blur effect.

Honor 7X mid-range phone was launched in China in the previous month. Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has today confirmed that it will be bringing to the U.S. on Dec. 5.

Earlier in this month, Honor India had made it official that the 7X mid-range phone will be arriving in India in December. The registrations of the smartphone have already started on Amazon India. It seems that the Honor 7X will be also available in other markets like the U.S. and the U.K. in the next month.

The Honor 7X has a full screen design and it houses an 18:9 aspect ratio display of 5.93 inches. The smartphone supports a Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The Kirin 659 chipset that powers the Mate 10 Lite is present under the hood of the Honor 7X. The SoC is supported by 4 GB of RAM.

It includes 32 GB of storage and carries support additional storage through microSD card slot. It is loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5.1 skin. The dual camera system present on its rear features a main camera of 16-megapixel and a secondary snapper of 2-megapixel. Its front-facing camera is of 8-megapixel. Honor is yet to confirm on the pricing and availability of the Honor 7X for the U.S. However, the company is expected to reveal these information on 7X’s launch date of Dec. 5. The AI driven Kirin 970 chipset and 6 GB of RAM will be powering the phone. It will be available in 64 GB and 128 GB.

Its back panel will be featuring a non-Leica branded 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual camera system. It will be coming with a 13-megapixel front-facing camera. The Huawei President also hinted on other measures aimed at boosting sales such as introducing cutting-edge technology, increasing presence in both online and offline platforms, and boosting its marketing efforts. Last week, the  Honor 7X was released to succeed the year-old Honor 6X. The new phone comes with a bunch of new features while still keeping some of the favorites from last year’s model.

Like we have seen for most major phones, someone got is hand on a unit and decided to a do a teardown for those who may be curious to see the innards of this full-screen mid-ranger.

To open up the Honor 7X, you will need a Philips screwdriver, tweezers, and a prying tool. The phone has a metal unibody held to the internal frame by screws on opposite sides of the USB port. But before you unscrew them, remember to remove the SIM tray first.

After removing the screws, use a prying tool to lift the front panel and separate it from the back of the phone. Be careful while doing so as there is a cable connecting the fingerprint scanner to it. You will have to remove a few more screws before you can detach the cable from the fingerprint scanner.

From thereon, the rest is easy. Undo more screws and using the tweezers, you should have access to the motherboard, front facing camera, and dual rear cameras.

After a year, Huawei has released a successor to the Honor 6X. The Honor 7X brings a bunch of upgrades and an entirely new design but makes sure to keep the dual cameras of its predecessor.

Honor 7X Design

The Honor 7X has a metal unibody similar to that of the Honor 8 Pro but with a few changes. The dual camera has moved from the vertical setup of the Honor 6X to a horizontal one. The sensors sit along the antenna line along with the LED flash in an attractive fashion.

The fingerprint scanner is rear-mounted and that’s not because Honor is trying to keep it in the same spot as that of the 6X but because there is no space in front for it thanks to the 5.93-inch 18:9 display. The bezels are not super thin but are significantly reduced. Overall, this is a huge improvement over the 6X.

Honor 7X Specs

The 5.933” screen has a 2160 x 1080 resolution. Like the Maimang 6, Huawei’s other 18:9 smartphone, the Honor 7X is powered by the Kirin 659. There is 4GB of RAM and buyers will be able to choose from 32GB, 64GB, or 128GB of storage.

The processor is not the only feature the Honor 7X shares with the Maimang 6, its dual rear cameras are also the same 16MP + 2MP configuration. However, it doesn’t get dual front cameras but a single 8MP sensor instead along with a LED flash.

There is dual SIM support (hybrid, nano only & 256GB max. card), Bluetooth 4.1, and Wi-Fi. The battery capacity is still 3340mAh and can be recharged via the micro USB port at the bottom. Sitting on the left of the port is a 3.5mm audio jack.

The Honor 7X runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with EMUI 5.1 on top. It is 7.6mm thick and weighs 165g.

Honor 7X Price

The Honor 7X is available in Gold, Blue, and Black. The 32GB variant will sell for ¥1299 (~$200), the 64GB version will cost ¥1699 (~$260) and the 128GB model will have a ¥1999 (~$304) price tag. It will be available on Vmall, JD.com, Suning, and Tmall as from 17th of October. A free TPU case will come with the phone.

However, the listings suggest that the latter will be a China Mobile carrier variant whereas the former will be a regular edition. The Honor 7X will be coming in three color choices such as black, blue and gold. The images of the smartphone that have surfaced on TENAA show that it features a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.

Previous rumors have revealed that the Honor 7X would be coming in two models such as 3 GB of RAM + 32 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM + 64 GB of storage. However, the TENAA listing for the BND-AL10 model has been modified. It states that the model featuring 4 GB RAM + 32 GB of storage has been replaced by 4 GB of RAM + 128 GB storage. Hence, there is a possibility that that the Honor 7X may not be available in 3 GB RAM option. The smartphone will also feature an external storage slot that will support up to 256 GB of microSD card.

Honor has confirmed that it will be unveiling the Honor 7X smartphone on Oct. 11. It seems that the Honor 7X is being tested to check its performance before it official launch as it has allegedly appeared on Geekbench benchmarking site.

A smartphone labelled as “Huawei BND-AL10” has been spotted on the benchmarking platform. Rumors have revealed that the smartphone is codenamed as Bond and its 3C certification has revealed BND-AL10 and BND-TL10 model numbers. The Geekbench listing has also revealed that Honor 7X is running on Android 7.0 Nougat and it is powered by an octa-core processor along with 4 GB of RAM. Previous reports have revealed that the all-new Kirin 659 chipset would be fueling the Honor 7X.

On single-core test, the handset has scored 909 points and in multi-core test, it has recorded a score of 3159. This shows that the Honor 7X will be a mid-range phone. The Kirin 659 will be an enhanced version of Kirin 658 that powers phones like Huawei P10 Lite and Huawei Nova Youth.

The recently launched Huawei Honor 9i (also known as Maimang 6 and Nova 2i in other markets) is also fueled by the new Kirin 659 chipset. It is a 16nm chipset that features four cores of Cortex A53 running at 2.36 GHz and four cores of Cortex A51 clocking at 1.7 GHz. It includes Mali T830 MP2 graphics.

The rumor mill has already leaked its specifications and pricing. Since it is speculated to launch as a budget-friendly phone with dual rear cameras, it is expected to rival with Xiaomi Mi 5X. Like the Honor 6X, the Honor 7X is also rumored to be available for buying outside China.

Huawei released a poster confirming that its dual camera mid-ranger, the Honor 6X will be getting a successor come October 11. The new phone called the Honor 7X will keep the dual camera feature that made its predecessor popular. However, it won’t have the same low price tag though it does pack some interesting new features.

According to leaked info, the Honor 7X will have a much larger 5.93-inch full-screen display. It will be powered by the Kirin 659, the same chip in the Maimang 6. Unlike the Honor 6X that is available in three variants, the Honor 7X will be available in two – a 3GB RAM + 64GB model and a 4GB RAM + 64GB model.

The dual rear cameras are a 12MP + 2MP combo just like those of the 6X. The 2MP sensor is definitely for depth sensing when taking portrait images. Front camera is an 8MP sensor.

The Honor 7X will come with a 3240mAh battery with a 5V/2A charger. We are a bit concerned about the battery as it is smaller than that of the 6X and its powering an even larger screen.

The Honor 7X is codenamed Bond and its 3C-certification shows two variants – one has model number BND-AL10 and the other is BND-TL10.

Pricing for the Honor 7X has also been leaked ahead of the launch. The price was accidentally seen on the computer of a fellow in a bus who was working on a presentation slide for the Honor 7X. The Honor 7X will start at ¥1799 (~$300) for the 3GB model and rise to ¥2099 (~$315) for the 4GB model.

Just like the Honor 6X, we presume the Honor 7X will be launched outside China. How soon it will be is hard to tell.

Huawei’s elite Honor brand has released a poster which teases the launch of the Honor 7X on October 11. The Honor 7X has in the past appeared online in leaks and was first thought to be named Honor V9 Mini due to its closeness in design to the Honor V9 launched earlier this year.

Previous leaks have revealed that the Honor 7X would feature a dual rear camera setup and we had even seen what could be the sample photo captured by the Honor 7X’s dual cameras. Apart from dual cameras, the latest teaser poster also suggests that the Honor model would come with a full-screen design. If this happens to be real, Huawei would be bringing the trending Full-screen design to the mid-range segment in addition to the flagship Mate 10 Pro that is coming with a full-screen design.

Previous leaks have shown that the Huawei Honor 7X would feature a full metallic body with a USB-C port. The device will also pack a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a design similar to the Honor V9 but would likely have a size slightly smaller than the 5.9-inch display the Honor V9 features. Other details are still sketchy as at this moment but we’ll bring you more as they emerge.
