At the end of December, the Honor 80 GT made its debut in China. The smartphone was announced only in two memory configurations. Both variants have the same amount of storage (256GB) but their RAM size is different.

Now, two months later, the brand has released a 512GB storage version of the handset. This variant offers 12GB RAM.

The new 12GB + 512GB memory configuration of Honor 80 GT is priced at ¥3,299 (~$475). This version of the phone is already up for sale across multiple platforms in China.

On the other hand, the older 12GB + 256GB and 16GB + 256GB currently retail at ¥2,999 (~$430) and ¥3,299 (~$475), respectively. They were introduced at ¥3,299 (~$475) and ¥3,599 (~$515).

As per Honor‘s online store, the ¥300 discount is a limited-time deal. Therefore, we think that the price of the latest 12GB + 51GB variant may also rise to ¥3,599 (~$515) later.

As you can see, both 16GB + 255GB and 12GB + 512GB versions cost the same. It is better to choose the model with more storage over the one with more RAM.

Unfortunately, this device is limited to China. It is not known whether it will be made available in global markets.

Some of the key highlights of this product include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 Chip, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, a 6.67-inch 10-bit 120Hz OLED display, a 54MP primary camera, a 4,800mAh battery, and 66W wired charging support.

It is a device with an amazing level of performance offered at an affordable price. Just like the Realme GT 2 Explorer Master Edition released earlier this year with flagship-class hardware. Here is a comparison between the main specifications of the Realme GT 2 Explorer Master Edition and the Honor 80 GT. We decided to compare the new Honor flagship killer with the old Realme one for an important reason: despite Honor releasing the flagship at the end of this year, it still ships with Android 12 out of the box instead of Android 13. That is the reason why it is a perfect rival of the GT 2 Explorer Master Edition.

Design

The Realme GT 2 Explorer Master Edition has a very original design and it wins the design comparison. Its aesthetics are reminiscent of a travel trunk and the phone is built with premium materials: you can choose between a ceramic back or an eco leather back, alongside an aluminum frame. It is one of the most original phones released this year and also one of the phones with the highest screen to body ratio. The Honor 80 GT still comes with an original design, but there is no way for it to compete if we talk about aesthetics in general, so you should definitely go for the Realme GT 2 Explorer Master Edition if you are looking for the most beautiful phone.

Display

The displays of these two phones are very similar to each other, but it looks like the Realme GT 2 Explorer Master Edition has a slightly better panel. It is an OLED display able to show images with up to one billion colors, a diagonal of 6.7 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ certification, as well as an in-display fingerprint reader. Honor GT has an AMOLED display with one billion colors, a diagonal of 6.67 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10 certification, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Note that the Realme GT 2 Explorer Master Edition is also the only phone of the duo with stereo speakers.

Specs & Software

The Honor 80 GT is the phone featuring the best hardware here. Both phones are powered by the best chipset: the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 by Qualcomm. But on the Realme GT 2 Explorer Master Edition, the SoC has a higher clock frequency: 3.2 GHz, because the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is underclocked at just 3 GHz on the Honor 80 GT. On the other hand, with the Honor 80 GT, you can actually get a higher amount of RAM: up to 16 GB, as well as 256 GB of native storage. Talking about the software, the Realme GT Master Explorer Edition ships with Android 12 and Realme UI 3.0, while the Honor 80 GT runs Android 12 with Magic UI 7 on top. We consider the Realme UI 3.0 as a more advanced user interface, for now.

Camera

The Realme GT 2 Explorer Master Edition offers better camera hardware. It has a triple rear camera including a 50 MP Sony IMX766 main sensor with OIS, a 50 MP ultrawide shooter, and a 3 MP microlens with 40x magnification. With the Honor 80 GT, you actually get a 54 MP main sensor without optical stabilization, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP macro camera.

Battery

Last but not least, is the battery. On the Realme GT Explorer Master Edition, the battery is bigger, with a capacity of 5000 mAh instead of just 4800 mAh. This means that the battery life will be longer on a single charge. It is also able to charge quicker with 100W fast charging.

Price

The starting price of the Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition in China is roughly $509/€476, while the Honor 80 GT starts from about $482/€450 in the Chinese market. None of these phones went global.

Just like most of the GT phones out there, it is a device with a high-end hardware department sold at a very affordable price if compared to most of the Android flagships. Among all the GT handsets, there is a non-GT one representing a perfect rival for the newly-announced device. We are talking about the OnePlus Ace Pro, also known in the global market as the OnePlus 10T. Are you curious to discover which of these phones comes with the most advanced specifications? If so, go ahead and read this comparison between the main specifications of the OnePlus Ace Pro (10T) and the Honor 80 GT.

Design

The Honor 80 GT has a very original design. Its rear side is made with a very attractive texture never seen before and at the same time, it has an aggressive design very good for gamers. Even the design of the camera module is very original. However, the phone is made of polycarbonate, so you should not expect premium materials. The OnePlus Ace Pro comes with a glass back and it has an original design as well, but less impressive than its rival. It is also bigger and thicker, so not the best to use with one hand or to keep in a pocket. At the end of the day, these are not among the best phones in terms of design, but they are acceptable.

Display

The displays of these two handsets are more or less at the same level if we consider their quality. With the Honor 80 GT, you get an AMOLED display able to show up to one billion colors with a diagonal of 6.67 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and HDR10 certification, as well as an in-display fingerprint reader. The OnePlus Ace Pro is another device with an AMOLED display with up to one billion colors, as well as a Full HD+ resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, and an in-display fingerprint reader. But the panel is slightly wider, with a diagonal of 6.7 inches.

Specs & Software

If we talk about the hardware, it is essentially a draw. These handsets are powered by the same chipset: the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform built with a 4 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture composed of three clusters: a Cortex X2 core running at 3.19 GHz as the performance core, as well as the Adreno 730 GPU. Note that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 found on the Honor 80 GT is underclocked, with a max frequency of 3 GHz. Both phones feature up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of native storage, and they run Android 12 out of the box, with highly customized user interfaces on top.

Camera

The OnePlus Ace Pro or 10T has a better main rear camera, so it wins the camera comparison: we are talking about a Sony IMX766 sensor with a 50 MP resolution and OIS, while the Honor 80 GT has a 54 MP main sensor without OIS. The secondary sensors are the same on both phones: an 8 MP ultrawide shooter and a 2 MP macro lens, as well as a 16 MP selfie snapper on the front.

Battery

These two flagship killers are equipped with the same battery capacity: 4800 mAh. It is a good battery capacity, but not the best if we consider all the batteries of 2022. However, it should guarantee a good battery life for everyone. While the battery capacities are the same and even the battery life is similar, there is an important difference in charging speeds. The Honor 80 GT supports 66W fast charging, while the OnePlus Ace Pro supports 150W fast charging!

Price

The starting price of the Honor 80 GT in the Chinese market roughly translates into $479/€450 at the actual change, while you need at least $532/€500 in order to purchase the base variant of the OnePlus Ace Pro in China. The OnePlus Ace Pro wins the comparison thanks to a better rear camera, stereo speakers, and faster charging.

The Chinese brand Honor has just announced a new gaming-oriented smartphone under the Honor 80 series. The device in question is called the Honor 80 GT and it comes equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. Its design strays far from the rest of the series members and it offers an OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Let’s have a closer look at the specs and pricing of the newly launched Honor 80 GT.

Honor 80 GT Specification and Features

The Honor 80 GT is scheduled to launch in China on December 26. It will be accompanied by Honor Pad V8 Pro. Ahead of their announcement, the brand has been teasing the features of these two products. At the same time, leaks have also been revealing details about them.

Let’s check out what the official teasers and leaks have to say about the upcoming Honor 80 GT so far.

Honor 80 GT

The Honor 80 GT will differ in design compared to the regular Honor 80 models. As per Digital Chat Station, it will feature a plastic frame to keep the cost low.

Further, the device will feature a 54MP Sony IMX800 primary camera, which was used in the Honor 70 series from earlier this year. It will arrive with 66W fast charging support, which was even revealed by 3C a few days back.

The tipster also discloses that the phone will sport a centered punch-hole OLED display. This flat screen will offer FHD+ resolution and up to a 120Hz refresh rate.

On the other hand, the official teasers have revealed the design of the Honor 80 GT. The handset will arrive in two colors and a special edition.

The brand has also confirmed the presence of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. The device may boot the Android 13-based MagicOS 7 software.

Last but not least, Digital Chat Station suggests that the smartphone could retail at around ¥3,000. If this happens to be true, then the Honor 80 GT could be one of the best flagship killer smartphones.

We are looking to learn more about this product in the coming days. Until then, let us know your thoughts on it in the comment section below.

Recent reports have claimed that Honor will hold a launch event later this month in China. Today, the company released an official confirmation that it will unveil the Honor 80 GT at 7:30 pm (local time) on Dec. 26 in China.

Apart from the Honor 80 GT, the company is rumored to launch at least two other products, such as an Honor 80 Pro variant featuring a flat display and the Honor Pad V8 Pro tablet. The above teaser gives a glimpse of the Honor 80 GT’s design. The poster shown below teases two devices, the one on the left seems to be the Honor 80 GT, while the one on the right appears to be the Honor Pad V8 Pro. It appears that the latter will support the Magic Pen.

Rumors surrounding the Honor 80 GT say it will be powered by the low-frequency version of the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and 16 GB of RAM. It is likely to feature an OLED panel that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The poster confirms that it has a triple camera unit, which is headlined by a 54-megapixel primary camera. It seems that the device is equipped with the Sony IMX800 as the main snapper. It may carry support for 66W fast charging.

Honor 80 GT, Honor Pad V8 Pro poster

The Honor 80 Pro’s flat screen variant is expected to feature the same SD8+G1 chip. Its OLED panel is likely to support a 1.5K resolution. There is a possibility that its specs could be identical to the Honor 80 Pro, which debuted in November.

The Honor Pad V8 Pro is expected to arrive as the world’s first IMAX Enhanced tablet. It will offer features like a 12.1-inch display, a Dimensity 8100 chipset, 33W fast charging, and MagicOS 7.0. It is likely to arrive in blue and orange shades.

Two new Honor phones were recently certified by the 3C authority of China. The model numbers of these devices are AGT-AN00 and ANB-AN00. It is speculated that these devices will debut on Dec. 26 as the Honor 80 GT and the Honor 80 Pro’s flat display variant. To recall, the Honor 80 Pro, which was recently announced in China, features a curved-edge display.

The 3C listings of the alleged Honor 80 GT and 80 Pro’s flat display variant reveal that these devices may support 66W fast charging. Both phones will also have support for 5G connectivity.

Honor 80 GT and Honor 80 Pro’s flat screen variant 3C certified

The Honor 80 GT and Honor 80 Pro’s flat display variant are said to be powered by the low-frequency version of the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. Some other rumors that are circulating on Weibo claim that the GT model will have an FHD+ OLED panel that offers a 144Hz refresh rate. The Honor 80 Pro’s new edition is likely to feature an OLED panel that offers a 1.5K resolution.

Another tipster has said that Honor will be holding a launch event on Dec. 26. The event is expected to see the arrival of the Honor Pad V8 Pro tablet, which is said to be equipped with the Dimensity 8100 chipset. It is said to be the world’s first IMAX Enhanced tablet. The 3C certification of the tablet (model number ROD-W09) that surfaced earlier this month revealed that it may carry support for 33W fast charging. It is expected to run on MagicOS 7.0 and come in blue and orange colors.

At the same event, Honor may also unveil the above-mentioned Honor 80 models. The tipster added that the company has teamed up with The Three-Body Problem animation series for the upcoming Honor 80 GT.

Honor has recently launched the Honor 80 series of smartphones, such as the Honor 80 SE, the Honor 80, and the Honor 80 Pro, in China. It appears that the company is planning to launch a new Honor 80 series phone called the Honor 80 GT. The device is expected to launch in December 2022.

According to a Chinese tipster (via. TechGoing), the Honor 80 GT will arrive with a flat display. To recall, all the Honor 80, 80 SE, and 80 Pro are equipped with OLED panels with curved edges.

Honor 80 Pro

The gaming-focused Honor 80 GT will come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 mobile platform. Apart from revealing that the Honor 80 GT will launch in December, there is no word on its other specifications.

There is a possibility that the 80 GT may sport a unique rear design like the Snapdragon 888-powered Honor X40 GT. There will probably be more information about the 80 GT’s specs in the upcoming reports.

The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip is also found in the Honor 80 Pro, which was released recently. It has a 6.78-inch OLED display with a pill-shaped camera cutout. The curved-edge screen offers a 1224 x 2700 pixels resolution It comes preloaded with the Magic UI 7-based Android 12. The handset comes with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.

The 80 Pro features a 50-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual selfie camera setup. On its back, it has a 160-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
