The Honor 8S was announced back in April. It was first launched in Russia before making its way to China. A new listing on TENAA hints at the launch of a Pro version (Honor 8S Pro) or a successor (Honor 9S), though we believe it is the former.

The Honor phone has the model number KSA-AL10 which is nearly identical to that of the Honor 8S (KSA-AL00) and also has the same design. The specs are also the same, save for the processor which is now a 2.0GHz octa-core processor, unlike the Honor 8S which has a 2.0GHz quad-core Helio A22 processor. We believe the new chipset is the Helio P22 which is practically the Helio A22 with four more cores.

The Honor KSA-AL10 has a 5.71-inch 1520 x 720 display with a waterdrop notch for a 5MP selfie camera. The processor is paired with 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of expandable storage. The rear camera is a single 13MP sensor.

The battery capacity is given as 2920mAh and there is no fast charging available. The dimensions are the same as those of the Honor 8S which is 147. 147.13 x 70.78 x 8.45 millimeters while weight is 146 grams. It will be available in Magic Night Black, Platinum Gold, and Aurora Blue.

We have no idea when the Honor 8S Pro or whatever Honor decides to call it will launch but it should be around the corner.

The Honor 8S (KSE-LX9) launched in Russia last month. It is an entry-level phone with a Dewdrop HD+ display and a pretty nice dual-textured back. It appears the phone will be launching in China soon, as two Honor phones with model numbers KSA-AL00 and KSA-TL00 with the same specs as the Honor 8S have appeared on TENAA.

The Honor KSA-AL00 was first seen on China’s 3C website back in January but then it wasn’t revealed to be an Honor-branded device.

The phone will have a 5.71-inch 1520 x 720 display. There is no image but since this is definitely the Honor 8S, we know it has a Dewdrop notch.

There is a 2.0GHz quad-core processor under the hood which is the Helio A22 and it is paired with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of storage. A MicroSD card (dedicated slot for the 8S) will allow you add up to an extra 512GB of storage. We really want to know if there is anyone willing to put such a large capacity storage card in this entry-level device.

The Honor KSA-AL00 will have a single 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera. It should also have Face Unlock since it is missing a fingerprint scanner.

The phone runs Android 9 Pie (with EMUI 9 on top) and has a 2920mAh battery. It will come in gold, black, and blue, weigh 146 grams and measure 147.13 x 70.78 x 8.45 millimeters.

We expect the phone to launch very soon. However, there is a chance it may have a different name in China.

The most important Chinese smartphone manufacturers are literally invading the market this year. In less than four months Huawei and its sub-brand Honor already announced almost 20 smartphones, that is huge. And we are talking about phones for every pocket, ranging between all the price ranges. The latest ones are entry-level devices for people with a very low budget: we are talking about the Honor 8S and Huawei Y5 2019. Another entry-level which is receiving a lot of consensuses is the Realme C2 from Oppo’s sub-brand. Given that we think these entry-level are currently among the most interesting ones, here is a specs comparison which may help you to decide which handset to choose under $150.

Design

Usually, smartphone manufacturers do not put many efforts into the aesthetics of entry-level phones. But Huawei Y5 (2019) is an exception, at least in one variant. We are talking about the stunning version of the handset which comes with a faux leather body, that is very unique, elegant and premium. And it is also pretty nice protection against drops. If you do not like leather, or at least not on a phone, then you may prefer the Realme C2 with its diamond-cut body. But note that it is a cheap polycarbonate body, unlike high-end devices which come with aluminum or glass designs. Unfortunately, none of these devices has a fingerprint reader on the back, neither in the display.

Display

Low-end displays in each case, so do not expect a great viewing quality. They feature only HD resolution, so their level of detail is not extreme. It would be better if you start caring about the size here. The Oppo Realme C2 comes with a larger diagonal: 6.1 inches, so it is more comfortable to use for multimedia lovers and productivity users. On the other hand, Honor 8S and Huawei Y5 2019 come with 5.71-inch panels that fit better in one hand or in a pocket. But when it comes to daily use, they may be more frustrating while using advanced apps or browsing the web.

Specs & Software

Talking about the hardware department, the Realme C2 is one step forward compared to both the Honor 8S and Huawei Y5 2019, as it is powered by a more powerful processor. We are talking about the octa-core Helio P22 by MediaTek with a max frequency of 2 GHz, while Honor 8S and Huawei Y5 2019 come with the Helio A22 which has just 4 cores running at 2 GHz. Further, Realme C2 has up to 3 GB of RAM, while Huawei Y5 (2019) comes with just 2 GB. An advantage of the Honor 8S is that it comes with up to 64 GB of internal storage, while Realme C2 has max 32 GB. But in each case, you can furtherly expand the internal storage through a micro SD dedicated slot. These phones have a customized user interface based on Android Pie installed out of the box.

Camera

Realme C2 comes with a dual camera setup on its rear side, so it should be better at calculating depth info. However, despite the Honor 8S and the Huawei Y5 2019 have just a single camera, we believe they will click better photos in a lot of environments due to their brighter focal aperture.

Battery

The battery is the element which makes the Realme C2 really stand out compared to the competition. It has a 4000 mAh battery and it also sports very efficient components, such as the HD display. That is why it can even provide three days with moderate usage patterns, and it definitely wins the battery comparison as its opponents stop at just 3020 mAh.

Price

You can currently get the Realme C2 in India for just €77/$85, while Honor 8S costs about €120/$135 and Huawei Y5 2019’s pricing is yet to be announced. Realme C2 definitely wins the comparison thanks to its better chipset, bigger display, and a way bigger battery.

The Honor 8S entry-level smartphone has been silently unveiled in Russia. The handset is now listed on the official website of Honor Russia. Here is all the information on the specifications, features and price of the Honor 8S.

Honor 8S Specifications and Features

The Honor 8S sports a polycarbonate body that weighs 146 grams. Its dimensions are 147.13 x 70.78 x 8.45mm. The smartphone features a 5.71-inch display that produces HD+ resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels. The handset offers a screen space of 84.6 percent.

The Honor 8S supports TUV Rheinland certified Eye Protection Mode that effectively cuts down harmful blue light and reduces eye strain after prolonged use of the smartphone. The display is surrounded by thick bezels and the chin of the device is thick enough to house the brand name of the company.

The MediaTek MT6761 processor (aka Helio A22) that includes 2.0 GHz quad-core processor powers the smartphone. The SoC is supported by 2 GB of RAM. The phone features an internal storage of 32 GB. For additional storage, there is a dedicated microSD card slot.

The rear side of the Honor 8S features a 13-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture with LED flash. The rear camera is optimized to shoot bright photos in low light, and it can also capture photos with blur effect. For snapping selfies, it has a frontal shooter of 5-megapixel. The AI powered selfie camera can shoot beautified selfie images. The smartphone delivers EMUI 9 based Android 9 Pie out of the box experience. The handset is fueled by a 3,020mAh battery.

There is no fingerprint scanner on the Honor 8S. It relies on face unlock that can intelligently scan 1024 facial features for identifying the user. The smartphone sports a unique rear design with a vertical smooth strip at the left and the remaining portion has a textured appeal.

The Huawei Y5 2019 smartphone had gone official in Europe yesterday. The Honor 8S specifications and features reveal that it is a rebranded version of the Y5 2019 for the Russian market.

The Honor 8S is an upcoming entry-level/mid-range phone. Its specs along with some official renders just leaked. While there isn’t anything special about its specs, the design, specifically the rear is pretty unique.

A lot of the phones these days look alike and it seems it is pretty difficult to stand out. However, once in a while, we see a phone that stands out from the rest. The Honor 8S is one of such devices.

While most entry-level/mid-range phones settle for a smooth slab of polycarbonate or metal with different sort of finishes to make them look good, the Honor 8S has a polycarbonate back with a dual-textured design.

The back is divided into two unequal halves. The part where the camera is down to the bottom has a smooth finish while the remaining half has a textured design that should make for a firmer grip. The blue is particularly my favorite. There is also black and gold variants. We wish Honor made a red one too and maybe even made the back cover replaceable, so you could easily switch between colors.

With respect to specs, the Honor 8S has a 5.71-inch IPS display with a 1520 x 720 resolution. There is a Dewdrop notch at the top for the selfie camera and the chin is a bit thick.

The phone is powered by the Helio A22 processor. There is 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which can be expanded via a MicroSD card slot. The rear camera is a 13MP sensor with an LED flash and the selfie camera is a 5MP sensor. There is no fingerprint scanner.

The Honor 8S packs a 3020mAh battery which charges via a MicroUSB port. There is an audio jack at the top too. It will run EMUI 9.0 based on Android Pie out of the box.

A mysterious Honor phone with a model number ARE-AL00 was spotted yesterday on TENAA with minimal configuration. Its TENAA listing is now populated with all its specifications.

The Honor ARE-AL00 features a notched screen. However, its notch is different from the previously released Huawei and Honor phones because it looks like a smaller valley notch found on OPPO F9 and OPPO R17. The backside of the phone features a vertical dual camera setup and a fingerprint reader.

What’s interesting about the Honor ARE-AL00 is that its manufacturers have included a gargantuan display of 7.12 inches. The handset offers a screen resolution of 2244 x 1080 pixels. This indicates that it will deliver an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. The device measures 177.57 x 86.24 x 8.13mm and it weighs 210 grams.

The Honor ARE-AL00 features an octa-core processor of 1.8 GHz and it receives power from 4,900mAh battery. The Honor ARE-AL00 smartphone has recently received approval from 3C authority in China. It has revealed that the phone will carry support for 9V/2A fast charging.

The SoC of the smartphone is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and its internal storage capacity is 64 GB of RAM. There is a microSD card slot onboard for additional storage. The back panel features a primary camera of 16-megapixel that is assisted by a secondary 2-megapixel sensor. It is preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo.

In the recent past, five devices by Huawei have bagged different certifications in China. These include HMA-AL00/TL00, SNE-AL00/TL00, JKM-AL00/TL00, ARE-AL00/TL00 and JSN-AL00/AL00a.

The HMA-AL00/TL00 is the Huawei Mate 20 where HMA refers to its “Himalaya” codename. The SNE-AL00/TL00 is Maimang 7 (Huawei Mate 20 Lite) which is codenamed as Sydney. The identities of JKM-AL00/TL00, ARE-AL00/TL00 and JSN-AL00/TL00 are not known yet. It is speculated that ARE-AL00/TL00 could be the Honor 8X or Honor 8S. Newer leaks may confirm the identity of the Honor ARE-AL00 phone.
