After announcing the Honor 9 Lite smartphone in China last month, the company has now launched the device in India. The Honor 9 Lite, which is the stripped-down variant of the Honor 9, will be exclusively available through online retailer Flipkart, for a starting price of Rs. 10,999, which roughly converts to $172.

The phone, which measures 151 x 71.9 x 7.6mm and weighs 149 grams, features 2.5D curved glass panels on the front as well as the rear side. It sports a 5.65-inch IPS LCD Full-HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, it is powered by a Huawei‘s own Kirin 659 chipset that has four cores clocked at 2.36GHz, and four cores clocked at 1.7GHz. It is the same chipset that powers Huawei’s Enjoy 7s, Mate 10 Lite, Maimang 6 and Nova 2i, as well as Honor 9i and Honor 7X.

The Honor 9 Lite will be available in two variants — 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. There is also a microSD card slot, enabling users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity.

One of the highlights of the device is that it comes with four cameras. There are dual cameras sitting on the front panel as well as the back panel. On the front, there’s a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.0 aperture and an updated Beautification mode.

The rear panel also houses same camera configuration — 13MP primary lens and a 2MP secondary lens, along with features like phase detection autofocus, HDR, digital zoom, panorama 3D Beauty, bokeh effect photography, Smile Capture, Voice Camera, Watermark, Burst Shot and Slow-Motion video shooting.

Just below the camera module, there’s a fingerprint sensor for added security. On the software front, the phone is running EMUI 8.0, which is based on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. With an over-the-air update, the company will be adding Honor Ride Mode as well as one-touch payment integration through Paytm.

Connectivity options on the device include Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack and GPS, but it lacks NFC. The phone is powered by a 3,000mAh battery that is equipped with an intelligent power saving feature and promises to last full day on a single charge.

In India, the phone will be available in three colour options, which include Sapphire Blue, Glacier Grey, Midnight Black. The device will go on sale from 21st January. While the 3GB RAM model is priced at Rs. 10,999 (approximately $172) while the 4GB RAM model costs Rs. 14,999 (approximately $235).

Honor recently revealed that it planning to soon launch a smartphone in India with four cameras and a glass unibody design. However, the company didn’t reveal further information related to the device. Now, the China-based company has confirmed that the phone in question is Honor 9 Lite and will be exclusively available through India’s online retailer Flipkart.

The Honor 9 Lite was originally launched in China last month. It flaunts a 5.65-inch Full-HD+ display with screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass on top. Under the hood, the device is powered by company’s own HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor, clocked at 2.36GHz and accompanied by Mali T830-MP2 GPU.

The phone was launched in three variants — 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage, 4GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB onboard storage. It is not yet known if the company plans to bring all three models to India or not.

Coming to the camera department, the phone features four cameras — dual-camera setup at the back as well as on the front, with a combination of 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The rear camera comes with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and LED flash.

There is a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone, for added security. Software-wise, the Honor 9 Lite is running Android 8.0 Oreo operating system based EMUI 8.0. Connectivity options on the device include dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. The device is fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery that is equipped with an intelligent power saving feature.

In China, the phone was launched in in four colour options — Navy, Seagull Gray, Magic Nightfall and Pearl White. Its pricing starts at 1199 yuan (approximately $182) and we are expecting similar pricing in India too. For pricing and availability details, we’ll have to wait for the company to officially launched the phone in India, which will happen by the end of this month.

Chinese smartphone giant Huawei yesterday took the wrap off the Honor 9 Lite, a trimmed down version of the flagship Honor 9. The Honor 9 Lite hands-on photos are here presented to you so you can have a close view and clearer look at the device.

The Honor 9 Lite is a mid-range model and it joins the growing number of flagship-looking mid-range models utilising the full-screen design. The major highlight of the smartphone s the full-screen design as well as the four cameras it packs. The 9 Lite has dual cameras at the front and rear and equally features a metal body encased in 2.5D curved glass at the front and rear sides. Apart from the Black color (Magic Nightfall) on display here, you also get colour options like Navy Blue, Seagull Gray, and Pearl White.

Crammed inside the slim metal body is a 3,000mAh battery that is equipped with an intelligent power saving feature.

Other features include EMUI 8 based on Android 8, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 4.2, USB Type-C, and GPS. The phone also has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Honor 9 Lite starts at 1,199 Yuan (~$182) for the base variant with 3GB + 32GB memory. The price goes up to 1,499 Yuan (~$227) for the 4GB + 32Gb version and 1,799 Yuan (~$227) for the 4GB + 64GB version. The device will go on sale from December 26 in China and Huawei has hinted that the model will be available in 14 countries including India, Russia and the U.K in no distant time.

Huawei recently revealed that it would hold a launch event on December 13 in China but failed to disclose the model that would be launched on that day. That model is believed to be the Honor 9 Lite, a trimmed down version of the Honor 9. The Honor 9 Lite is expected to keep up with the full-screen design which is presently the trend in the industry. Huawei recently joined the full-screen party with the Mate 10 series and of late, the Honor V10, Nova 2S. The tech giant is expected to out the Honor 9 Lite and Enjoy 7s before the end of the year, both having the full-screen design.

Details of the Honor 9 Lite has been sketchy but some of the likely specs of the Honor smartphone have appeared online. The major highlight is that the smartphone will feature a 5.65-inch 18:9 full-screen display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The device is also said to come with the Honor 9’s design. On the driving seat will be a Hisilicon Kirin 659 chipset backed by 4GB of RAM on one version and 3GB of RAM on a second version. Both versions have 64GB and 32GB of storage respectively.

In addition, the Honor 9 Lite is expected to pack a dual camera setup at the rear consisting of a 13MP and 20MP sensors. The launch invitation suggests the device will have four camera so we may likely see a dual camera setup at the front as well. The device will also have a 3,000mAh battery capacity. As for the likely prices, the 3GB version is said to carry a 1,299 Yuan price tag while the 4GB RAM version will go for 1599 Yuan.
