Chinese smartphone giant Huawei yesterday took the wrap off the Honor 9 Lite, a trimmed down version of the flagship Honor 9. The Honor 9 Lite hands-on photos are here presented to you so you can have a close view and clearer look at the device.

The Honor 9 Lite is a mid-range model and it joins the growing number of flagship-looking mid-range models utilising the full-screen design. The major highlight of the smartphone s the full-screen design as well as the four cameras it packs. The 9 Lite has dual cameras at the front and rear and equally features a metal body encased in 2.5D curved glass at the front and rear sides. Apart from the Black color (Magic Nightfall) on display here, you also get colour options like Navy Blue, Seagull Gray, and Pearl White.

Overall, the Honor 9 Lite features a 5.65-inch IPS LCD screen with a Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It should be noted that the Honor 9Lite has a larger display than the flagship 9. Sitting in the driver’s seat is a Hisilicon Kirin 659 chipset that includes a 2.36 GHz octa-core processor. It is complemented by a 3GB RAM on some models and 4GB RAM on other models while the storage options include a 32GB and 64GB storage versions, both expandable. Crammed inside the slim metal body is a 3,000mAh battery that is equipped with an intelligent power saving feature.

Other features include EMUI 8 based on Android 8, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 4.2, USB Type-C, and GPS. The phone also has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Honor 9 Lite starts at 1,199 Yuan (~$182) for the base variant with 3GB + 32GB memory. The price goes up to 1,499 Yuan (~$227) for the 4GB + 32Gb version and 1,799 Yuan (~$227) for the 4GB + 64GB version. The device will go on sale from December 26 in China and Huawei has hinted that the model will be available in 14 countries including India, Russia and the U.K in no distant time.

Huawei has sensationally confirmed that it would be launching the Honor 9 Lite on December 21. This is coming less than a month after the Honor V10 was launched in China and later launched globally. The launch invite shows that the Honor 9 Lite launch event would be held in Shenzhen, China.

The launch invite comes with a pair of glass frame as well as a printed card containing the date and venue. The invitation card also comes with a teaser which projects the AI features the device will come with. The glass frame teases the dual cameras that the device packs and the entire package is housed in a box.

The Honor 9 Lite recently appeared on TENAA confirming the specifications to include a 5.65-inch 18:9 full-screen with a resolution of 2160 x 100 pixels. The device is equipped with a Hisilicon Kirin 6659 chip paired with either a 3GB and 4GB RAM respectively. The smartphone is also expected to feature a 13MP + 20MP dual camera setup at the rear and will be fuelled by a 2,900mAh battery.
