Upcoming Smartphones: Oppo Find X7, Honor Magic 6, Poco X6, and more

The second week of 2024 will be as busy as the first one in terms of smartphone launches. Five brands have officially confirmed to debut new devices.

Two of these events will take place in China. They will be headed by Oppo and Honor. Both of them will unveil their latest flagship phones. Further, Motorola will launch a new budget 5G smartphone in India.

Whereas, the remaining three conferences will be held globally. Asus will take wraps off its newest gaming smartphones, while Poco will announce fresh mid-rangers. Finally, Oppo will bring its new Reno handsets to international markets.

Let’s take a look at these devices one by one.

Upcoming Smartphones Next Week

Oppo Find X7 Series

The Oppo Find X7 series is scheduled to launch in China on January 8. The conference will kickstart at 2:30 PM local time (GMT+8).

The lineup will consist of two devices, namely Oppo Find X7 and Oppo Find X7 Ultra. The vanilla model will house a MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chip, while the ultra variant will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.

The Find X7 Ultra will arrive with a 50MP Sony LYT-900 1-inch main camera, two periscope telephoto shooters, a leather finish, and satellite communication.

Asus ROG Phone 8 Series

Asus will unveil the ROG Phone 8 series at CES on January 8. At least two models are expected, namely ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro. There could be an ‘Ultimate’ variant as well.

All of them will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Their high refresh rate OLED display will have minimal bezels compared to the previous iterations.

The phones will also be IP68-rated for dust and water resistance. The pro version is anticipated to feature a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary camera, a 13MP ultrawide unit, and a 32MP telephoto shooter.

Motorola Moto G34 5G

Motorola will debut the Moto G34 5G in India on January 9. As the name suggests, it is a budget 5G smartphone.

The handset offers a 6.5-inch 120Hz HD+ display (LCD), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chip, a 50MP main camera, a 16MP selfie camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and 18W charging support.

The device is tipped to cost ₹10,999 for 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.

Poco X6 Series and Poco M6 Pro

The Poco X6 series and Poco M6 Pro are set to go official on January 11. The X6 lineup is a tweaked version of the existing Redmi handsets, while the M6 Pro is a newer product.

The Poco X6 is a rebranded Redmi Note 13 Pro, which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip. On the other hand, the Poco X6 Pro houses a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra SoC as it is a rebadged Redmi K70e.

Finally, the Poco M6 Pro is a 4G-only device powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 Ultra chip. It will come with a 120Hz OLED display, a 64MP primary camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and 67W charging support.

Oppo Reno 11 Series

The Oppo Reno 11 series will make its global debut on January 11. The lineup will include two models, namely Oppo Reno 11 and Oppo Reno 11 Pro.

The Reno 11 Pro for international markets is expected to be the same as the variant sold in China. However, the vanilla Reno 11 for global markets will be different from the original model.

The international Reno 11 will arrive with a less powerful MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC and faster 80W wired charging support. However, it will retain the 32MP telephoto camera and 120Hz curved display.

Honor Magic 6 Series

Honor has scheduled conferences for January 10 and 11. The brand will be unveiling the Magic 6 series on either of these dates.

Three handsets are anticipated, such as Honor Magic 6, Honor Magic 6 Pro, and Honor Magic 6 Porsche Design. So far, the company has officially disclosed the design of the pro version.

The Magic 6 Pro will come with a quad-curved OLED display, pill-shaped cutout, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, a face authentication system, and 100W charging support.

Several reports have claimed that Honor will announce the Honor Magic 6 series of smartphones in early January in China. Today, the brand rolled out the below poster to officially confirm the launch date for the Magic 6 series. It appears that it will be the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphone to launch in 2024.

As can be seen in the poster, the brand will hold a two-day launch on Jan. 10 and Jan. 11 to announce the Magic OS 8.0 and the Magic 6 series. As reports have revealed, the Magic 6 lineup is likely to include devices such as the Magic 6, the Magic 6 Pro, and the Magic 6 Porsche Design.

Huawei stands as the sole Chinese brand providing satellite communication support for its smartphones. The forthcoming Magic 6 series from Honor is poised to make it the second Chinese brand to arrive with support for two-way satellite communication.

The Magic 6 series will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and run on the latest Magic OS 8.0 UI. Since Honor hasn’t revealed anything else about the Magic 6 series, it is expected to roll out new teasers in the coming days to confirm the key features of the Magic 6 lineup and Magic OS 8.0.

While other brands, such as Oppo, Xiaomi, and Vivo, are expected to feature the 50-megapixel Sony LYT-900, one-inch camera sensor, the Magic 6 series may feature the one-inch, 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50K primary camera. The Magic 6 and Magic 6 Pro may come with support for 66W and 100W wired charging, respectively. The Pro variant may also offer 50W wireless charging. Furthermore, Honor has affirmed its collaboration with the Porsche Design studio, suggesting the possibility of a premium variant within the Magic 6 series, potentially named Magic 6 Porsche Design, to complement its distinctive features.

Honor Magic 6 Pro, Magic 6 Porsche Design surfaces in leaked renders revealing design

Honor has officially teamed up with the renowned design house Porsche Design. Now, leaked renders of the upcoming Honor smartphone hint at what the fruits of this collaboration might look like. The renders come from a Weibo tipster that shows stylish Porsche Design variants of the Honor Magic 6 series devices.

As you can see, the Magic 6 Porsche Design has a two-tone leather finish in red and black. Its circular camera ring houses the triple camera setup (horizontally) and on the back, we can also see the Honor and Porsche Design logos.

However, looks like the partnership won’t be limited to a single phone since the tipster also shared a render of the Porsche Design-inspired Magic 6 Pro. And, although the design is more or less similar to that of last year’s Magic 5 Pro, the phone has a sports car’s accelerometer-inspired design element in its circular camera module.

Interestingly, the leak also suggests the entire Magic 6 series will have Porsche Design treatment, but these are just rumors, so take them with a grain of salt.

Speaking of the Magic 6 series, it’s expected to arrive early next year. Rumors suggest three models in the lineup. The exact names of these devices are still under wraps, but following past trends, they might be called the Honor Magic 6, Magic 6 Pro, and Magic 6 Ultimate.

Tipster Digital Chat Station has shed some light on the Pro model’s key features. The phone is expected to come with a 2K OLED display with a pill-shaped cutout for dual-front-facing cameras.

Powering the device will be a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. While there are also rumors of a dedicated graphics and security chip. The phone will run on Magic OS 8.0 based on Android 14 and will have a Smart Island notification feature.

Likewise, Magic 6 Pro also utilizes a substantial AI model with an impressive 7 billion parameters, enhancing its capabilities in artificial intelligence applications.
