Honor is reportedly working on a compact phone with a slim and lightweight build. Since the official moniker of the device is under wraps, it is being referred to by different names, such as Magic 8 Slim and Magic 8 Mini. In a new Weibo post, reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed the key specifications of this phone, along with its color variants.

Honor Magic 8 Slim / Mini key details tipped

Starting from the front, the Honor Magic 8 Slim / Mini (codenamed Lindy) will feature a 6.3-inch display with a flat design. A previous leak from the same source revealed that it will be an OLED LTPO panel delivering a 1.5K resolution.

Under the hood, the Magic 8 Slim / Mini is expected to feature the Dimensity 9500 chipset. Considering that MediaTek is already gearing up to launch the Dimensity 9500 Plus chipset as its overclocked variant in March or April 2026, the Magic 8 Slim may debut much earlier, probably after the Honor Power 2, which is expected to launch in January 2026.

Without going into details, the tipster mentions in the new leak that the Magic 8 Slim / Mini will offer decent imaging capabilities, a metal frame, and an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor. It will be available in four finishes, such as Feather White, Shadow Black, Light Orange, and Fairy Purple. He added that the device is ready, and its development and launch are being accelerated.

In a previous leak, the tipster revealed that this slim phone has a thickness of only 5 to 6.x mm despite packing a 5,500mAh battery. At present, there is no information about its fast-charging capabilities, but it is said to support wireless charging.

A previous leak claimed that the Honor Magic 8 Slim / Mini may feature a 200-megapixel main camera, but a newer leak claimed that this sensor could be replaced by a 50-megapixel lens. The camera setup is also expected to feature a periscope telephoto camera.

Previous reports have also suggested that Honor is also working on the Honor Magic 8 RSR (aka Honor Magic 8 Ultra). This will be the company’s ultimate flagship phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The Magic 8 RSR and 8 Slim / Mini are expected to debut together.

Honor might be gearing up to revive something Android fans haven’t seen in a long time: a genuinely compact flagship that isn’t a watered-down version of the “real” model. A fresh leak suggests the company is working on what’s reportedly called the Magic 8 Mini, and if the details hold up, it could end up being one of the thinnest and lightest compact phones of the year.

The regular Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro only landed in October, continuing Honor’s run at the premium segment. But almost immediately, whispers of a smaller “Mini” model started gaining traction. According to Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, a pre-production unit is already making the rounds — and it’s shockingly thin, somewhere in the 5–6 mm range. That would put it firmly in the “ultra-thin” crowd, alongside devices like Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge or Apple’s iPhone Air. What makes this one stand out, though, is the combination: not just thin, but genuinely compact. It’s a blend of two trends that rarely overlap anymore.

Up front, the Magic 8 Mini is said to pack a 6.31-inch display, which is more or less the new standard for phones marketed as compact.

The camera situation is still fuzzy. Honor is reportedly testing a 200MP primary sensor, but there’s talk of switching to a 50MP 1/1.5″ sensor. The more interesting bit is the rumored telephoto lens. Very few phones under 6.5 inches offer serious zoom hardware (for reference, the 6.32-inch OnePlus 13T only has a tiny 1/2.75″ 2x telephoto), so if Honor does include one here, it’ll likely use a smaller sensor but still give the Mini a versatility edge.

Under the hood, the phone is expected to run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500, the same chip powering Vivo’s X300 and X300 Pro. The only potential concern is battery life. A 5,500mAh cell is rumored — impressive given the form factor, though not quite as large as the 8.2mm-thick OnePlus 13T’s 6,260mAh pack.

Honor hasn’t confirmed anything yet, and with the Honor 500 series launching on November 24 in China, it’s unclear whether the Magic 8 Mini will share the stage or remain under wraps for a bit longer. Even so, if the leaks pan out, this could be one of the more refreshing phones Honor has worked on. In a market where every flagship seems to get bigger and heavier, an “ultra-thin small-screen” device might be exactly what some of us have been waiting for.

According to the leak, the Honor Magic 8 Mini will feature a 6.31-inch flat OLED display with a 1.5K resolution, offering a compact yet premium viewing experience. For security, the phone will include an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor, a feature usually seen on flagship-grade models.

The device is expected to be powered by a Dimensity 9500 series chipset, although an earlier report suggested it could use the Dimensity 9500+, an overclocked version of the same processor for better performance. While the leak does not reveal details about the battery size, charging speed, RAM, or storage, it does confirm that the handset will support wireless charging.

On the imaging front, the Magic 8 Mini is said to feature a 200-megapixel primary camera paired with a periscope telephoto lens, aimed at delivering high-quality zoom photography. Honor’s next round of flagship phones might arrive a little sooner than expected. According to a new leak from tipster Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo, the company is preparing to launch the Magic 8 lineup in mid-October.

That would put it a few weeks ahead of last year’s Magic 7 series, which debuted in late October before going on sale in early November 2024.

The Magic 8 series is rumored to include several models this year. In October, we may see the launch of the standard Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro, while a smaller Magic 8 Mini and a high-end Magic 8 Ultra could follow in early 2026.

What to expect?

According to previous leaks, the Magic 8 and 8 Pro will feature OLED displays measuring around 6.6 and 6.7 inches, respectively. 

Both phones will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, have support for wireless charging, and ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanners. The devices are also expected to feature larger batteries than their predecessors. 

The Magic 8 Pro, in particular, may come with a 7000mAh cell and support for 90W wired charging.

The Magic 8 Mini, meanwhile, is said to take a different approach. It’s rumored to use MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chip, paired with a smaller 6.3-inch screen and a slimmer overall design. 

As for the Magic 8 Ultra, it is expected to feature dual 200-megapixel cameras, one for the main sensor and another for a periscope telephoto lens. It will also run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip and may share features with the Magic 8 Pro, such as charging and display technology.

He added that the current engineering prototype of the Honor Magic 8 Mini is very thin despite housing a big battery and all the necessary specs. As far as the launch timeframe is concerned, the Magic 8 Mini likely won’t arrive alongside the main Magic 8 series; instead, the launch is expected sometime in the first half of next year.

In related news, Honor is also working on a Dimensity 8500 phone. While the exact moniker of the device is not known yet, it is expected to pack a huge 10,000mAh battery. It remains to be seen whether it will be called the Honor Power 2 or something else.

Furthermore, this week, the brand will unveil the much-anticipated Honor Magic V Flip 2 in China. Set to launch on Aug. 21, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered device will feature a 5,500mAh battery, the largest ever seen on a flip phone. It is also confirmed to support 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The same is expected this year, as reports have claimed that the Magic 8 lineup featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will be unveiled in October. Ahead of the expected launch, new Honor phones believed to be part of the Magic 8 lineup have received 3C certification in China.

Honor Magic 8 series phones bag 3C certification

As can be seen above, two Honor smartphones bearing the model numbers BKQ-AN00 and BKQ-AN80 have received 3C certification in China. These devices have been spotted with a 90W fast charger. Notably, the BKQ-AN80 version is listed with only BeiDou positioning support, meaning it may not include other satellite navigation systems such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, NavIC, or A-GNSS.

Honor Magic 8 series rumors

According to reports, the Honor Magic 8 lineup will comprise multiple models, such as the Magic 8, Magic 8 Pro, Magic 8 Mini, and Magic 8 Ultra. The standard and Pro models are expected to feature 6.58-inch and 6.7-inch OLED displays, respectively, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. While these devices are expected to launch this year, the Mini and Ultra editions may debut next year.

The Magic 8 Mini is reportedly equipped with a 6.3-inch display and a Dimensity 9500 SoC. The Ultra variant may offer an ultimate photography experience, as it is said to be the world’s first phone equipped with dual 200-megapixel lens setup for the primary and periscope telephoto cameras. A few weeks ago, Luo Wei, head of Honor Imaging, clarified that the Magic 8 series will not feature a 1-inch main camera or a dual-periscope telephoto lens. He explained that the brand prefers to focus on balanced performance rather than adding hardware for marketing appeal.

Honor Magic 8 Mini chipset tipped

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, Honor is currently testing the Dimensity 9500 and Dimensity 8500 chipsets. Among the two, the Dimensity 9500 is being tested in a compact flagship device featuring a 6.31-inch display. This device is said to be the Magic 8 Mini.

Leaks suggest that the Dimensity 9500 could debut as early as September. The Vivo X300 series, which is expected to launch by the end of September or in October, will be the first to feature the D9500. The Oppo Find X9 series, expected in October, may also feature the said SoC.

DCS adds that Honor is testing the Dimensity 8500 on a new mid-range device powered by an ultra-large battery. While the moniker of this device is not known yet, it is expected to rival the Redmi Turbo 5, which is also said to feature the same chipset.

Coming back to the Honor Magic 8 Mini, DCS revealed at the beginning of this month that it will not debut alongside the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2v-powered Magic 8 and 8 Pro. Therefore, it is likely that the device may debut in the first half of 2026.

As the second half of the year unfolds, leaks around upcoming smartphone flagships are beginning to gain traction. The latest device to enter the rumor cycle is the Honor Magic 8 series.

According to Chinese tech blogger The Factory Manager is Guan, Honor is preparing three Magic 8 flagships this year, up from two in the previous Magic 7 lineup. 

Honor Magic 8 mini incoming?

Interestingly, the new addition to the series is a compact model. Compact phones are quietly gaining momentum as smartphone internals have matured enough to fit better hardware (including bigger batteries) into smaller frames. Take Vivo X200 FE or OnePlus 13s, for example. 

Let’s just call the upcoming compact Honor flagship Magic 8 Mini, and it will join the standard Magic 8 and the Magic 8 Pro in the line. All three devices are expected to feature flat-edged displays with rounded corners and ultra-slim bezels.

Two of the three models will also reportedly include 3D facial recognition technology, likely the standard and Pro variants. Both are also said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor.

The leak further claims that the new devices will feature batteries exceeding 7000mAh, a 200MP telephoto lens with multi-refractive optics, a new primary sensor, and upgraded AI-powered image processing. The Magic 8 mini, meanwhile, is rumored to run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chip.

Adding weight to the leak, known tipster Digital Chat Station also stated that the Honor Magic 8 lineup will consist of three models this year. According to him, the Magic 8 mini will feature a 6.31-inch LTPO display with 1.5K resolution.

The standard Magic 8 will reportedly sport a 6.58-inch screen, while the Magic 8 Pro will offer a larger 6.71-inch build. Both have the same 1.5K resolution LTPO AMOLED panel as the mini. 

Honor is expected to unveil the Magic 8 series in October.

The Honor Magic 8 series, which could launch in late September or early October, is also confirmed to feature the new flagship processor. According to recent leaks from Digital Chat Station (DCS), the Magic 8 lineup may include four models, which includes a compact flagship dubbed the Magic 8 Mini and a massive 6.9-inch phone.

Honor Magic 8 series may include four models

According to DCS, the Magic 8 lineup may include multiple models with varying screen sizes, such as 6.3-inch, 6.58-inch, and 6.7-inch. While there is no concrete evidence yet, it appears that all four models may feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.

DCS claims that Honor is yet to finalize the 6.3-inch model. Dubbed Magic 8 Mini by the rumor mill, it will not launch alongside the Magic 8 and 8 Pro, claims the tipster.

The 6.58-inch model, which is believed to be the Honor Magic 8, is currently being tested with a mid-tier periscope camera. The current engineering prototype is said to be tested with OmniVision OV64B and Sony IMX882 periscope cameras.

The Honor Magic 8 Pro, which may feature a 6.7-inch display, is being tested with a 200-megapixel periscope camera with a large sensor. DCS has also claimed that the flagship series may include a 6.9-inch model, which could be called the Honor Magic 8 Max or Ultra. He didn’t divulge any information about it.

Additionally, in the mid-range segment, Honor is said to be working on a new device with an even larger screen—around 6.96 inches—bringing it very close to the 7-inch mark.
