<p>It looks like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/honor/">Honor</a> is getting very close to unveiling its next top-tier flagship. A new Honor device has appeared on China’s 3C certification website under the model number BKQ-AN20, and the listing describes it as a “satellite mobile terminal (5G).” It also shows support for 120W fast charging. The model number has already been linked to the upcoming Magic8 Ultra in recent leaks.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-RSR-Porsche-Design-1.jpg?x23692" alt="Honor Magic 7 RSR Porsche Design" class="wp-image-659634" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-RSR-Porsche-Design-1.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-RSR-Porsche-Design-1-300x192.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-RSR-Porsche-Design-1-768x492.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-RSR-Porsche-Design-1-696x445.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-RSR-Porsche-Design-1-656x420.jpg 656w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption>Honor Magic 7 RSR Porsche Design</figcaption></figure>

<p>Well-known leaker Digital Chat Station claims the phone is only the second <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/11/03/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5-claims-every-top-five-spot-in-antutus-latest-performance-ranking/">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5</a>-powered model to clear China’s network approvals. Like other recent premium Chinese flagships, it should support Tiantong satellite communication, allowing calls and texts to go through even when there’s zero cellular coverage.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="500" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Honor-Magic8-Ultra-3C-listing-1024x500.webp?x23692" alt="" class="wp-image-716787" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Honor-Magic8-Ultra-3C-listing-1024x500.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Honor-Magic8-Ultra-3C-listing-300x146.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Honor-Magic8-Ultra-3C-listing-768x375.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Honor-Magic8-Ultra-3C-listing-696x340.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Honor-Magic8-Ultra-3C-listing-1068x521.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Honor-Magic8-Ultra-3C-listing-860x420.webp 860w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Honor-Magic8-Ultra-3C-listing-533x261.webp 533w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Honor-Magic8-Ultra-3C-listing.webp 1219w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>DCS also mentioned that the main camera development remains the biggest factor determining when the phone will actually launch. The Magic8 Ultra is expected to feature the OmniVision OV50R LOFIC sensor, and Honor is reportedly pushing hard to get the hardware and image tuning ready in time to go head-to-head with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/11/17/xiaomi-17-ultra-rumored-to-bring-back-the-post-christmas-flagship-launch/">Xiaomi 17 Ultra</a>. As for the recent spike in storage and memory prices, he noted that higher-capacity variants of this device shouldn’t see massive increases — at least for now.</p>

<p>Another Chinese tipster, Smart Pikachu (Yes, that’s the name as translated from Chinese), chimed in too. According to that leak, the 120W fast charging system could power a 7,000 mAh battery. That’s a notable jump—last year’s Magic7 RSR topped out at 5,850 mAh.</p>

<p>As IT Home pointed out, tipster Smart Pikachu directly used the hashtag #HonorMagic8Ultra in the Weibo leak — a pretty strong clue that this is indeed the product name.</p>

<p>Right now, the Magic8 lineup includes the standard Magic8 and Magic8 Pro, both running the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The regular model pairs a 50MP main camera with a 64MP, 3x periscope, while the Pro bumps things up with a slightly larger main sensor and a 200MP telephoto.</p>

<p>With satellite messaging, aggressive charging speeds, a much larger battery than its predecessor, and a camera setup aimed directly at the ultra-premium segment, the Magic8 Ultra has all the makings of Honor’s most ambitious phone yet. The 3C certification suggests a launch isn’t far off — now it’s just a matter of when Honor decides to take the wraps off.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/honor">Honor</a> recently unveiled the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/honor-magic-8">Magic 8</a> and Magic 8 Pro in China. Rumours suggest that the brand is now working on the Magic 8 Ultra to rival the likes of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Oppo Find X9 Ultra, and Vivo X300 Ultra. A new Weibo post from a reliable tipster has revealed the key specifications of the Magic 8 Ultra.</p>

<h3><strong>Honor Magic 8 Ultra key specifications leaked</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="849" height="255" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-126.png?x23692" alt="" class="wp-image-712859" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-126.png 849w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-126-300x90.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-126-768x231.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-126-696x209.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 849px) 100vw, 849px" /><figcaption>Honor Magic 8 Ultra specs leak by DCS</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>According to the leak, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/honor-magic-8-ultra/">Honor Magic 8 Ultra</a> will feature the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5</a> chipset. It is said to pack a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with a quad-curved design. The screen will support a 1.5K resolution and include an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor. It will also support 3D face recognition.</p>

<p>The Magic 8 Ultra’s rear camera setup is tipped to include a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50R main camera with ultra-high dynamic range. A previous leak indicated that this new sensor would <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/04/honor-magic-8-ultra-50mp-ov50r-main-camera/">enter mass production</a> in the first quarter of 2026. The rear camera setup will also include a periscope telephoto camera backed by a large sensor, which may offer a 200-megapixel resolution with 4.3x to 7x optical zoom.</p>

<p>The Magic 8 Ultra is expected to run MagicOS 10 based on Android 16. It is also said to house a large battery of around 7,000mAh capacity. While the latest leak does not mention charging speeds, it may support 120W wired and 50W wireless charging like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/honor-magic-8-pro">Magic 8 Pro</a>v.</p>

<p>According to other reports, the Magic 8 Ultra will debut in the first half of 2026. It is also likely to be accompanied by the Dimensity 9500-powered Magic 8 Mini, a compact flagship phone. As for 2025, Honor is expected to unveil the Honor 500 series in November in China, followed by the GT 2 lineup in December.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/honor">Honor</a> is expected to announce the Honor Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro later this month in China. Reports have revealed that the lineup also includes two other models, such as the Magic 8 Mini and Magic 8 Ultra. Speculations are rife that these devices will debut in the first half of 2026. In a new leak, tipster Digital Chat Station has seemingly shared details about the Magic 8 Ultra’s primary camera.</p>

<h3><strong>Honor Magic 8 Ultra to feature 50MP OV50R main camera</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-16.png?x23692" alt="" class="wp-image-709447" width="956" height="366" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-16.png 958w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-16-300x115.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-16-768x294.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-16-696x267.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 956px) 100vw, 956px" /><figcaption>Honor Magic 8 Ultra&#8217;s primary camera leak</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The above leak claims that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/honor-magic-8-ultra/">Honor Magic 8 Ultra</a> will be the first phone to feature the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/04/xiaomi-16-ultra-honor-magic-8-ultra-vivo-x300-ultra-oppo-find-x9-ultra-primary-camera/">OmniVision OV50R 50-megapixel camera</a>. This new sensor is expected to enter the mass production phase in Q1 2026.</p>

<p>The tipster further said that this 50-megapixel sensor features a large 1/1.3-inch size with 1.2μm pixel units and 100 percent QPD (Quad Phase Detection) for faster and more accurate autofocus. It supports the latest LOFIC technology, offering a dynamic range of up to 110dB, along with 4K triple-channel HDR and 10/12/14-bit RGB RAW output. Additionally, it includes DAG HDR support and boasts 20 percent lower power consumption compared to the OV50K sensor.</p>

<p>Other reports surrounding the Magic 8 Ultra have revealed that its camera setup will also include an ultra-wide lens and a 200-megapixel Samsung HP9 periscope telephoto camera with 4.3x to 7x optical zoom.</p>

<p>While there is no information available about the Honor Magic 8 Ultra’s other specs, it is likely to feature the same <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5</a>, which powers the Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro. Ahead of their launch, well-known tipster Digital Chat Station has shared information about the primary camera configurations of these high-end Ultra devices.</p>

<h3><strong>Primary cameras across Ultra models</strong></h3>

<p>According to the leak, the Xiaomi 16 Ultra will feature a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50X main camera. The Honor Magic 8 Ultra is tipped to use a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50R sensor as its primary shooter. Both the Vivo X300 Ultra and Oppo Find X9 Ultra are expected to feature a 200-megapixel Sony IMX09E primary sensor, which may be marketed under the Lytia LYT-990 name.</p>

<h3><strong>Xiaomi 16 Ultra, Honor Magic 8 Ultra, Oppo Find X9 Ultra, Vivo X300 Ultra camera rumors</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="750" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/m15-utra.jpg?x23692" alt="xiaomi 15 ultra" class="wp-image-678129" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/m15-utra.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/m15-utra-300x240.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/m15-utra-696x557.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/m15-utra-525x420.jpg 525w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /><figcaption>Xiaomi 15 Ultra</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Recent reports suggest that the Xiaomi 16 Ultra may adopt a triple camera design with a 50-megapixel 1-inch customized main lens, a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto supporting 3x to 5x continuous optical zoom, and a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 ultra-wide sensor.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the Honor Magic 8 Ultra is expected to feature a large 50-megapixel 1/0.98-inch OV LOFIC sensor with a 200-megapixel Samsung HP9 periscope lens capable of 4.3x to 7x optical zoom. The setup is also expected to include an ultra-wide lens.</p>

<p>The Vivo X300 Ultra is said to use a customized 200-megapixel Sony LYT-990 35mm sensor. According to a new leak from tipster <em>Fixed Focus Digital</em> on Weibo, the company is preparing to launch the Magic 8 lineup in mid-October.</p>

<p>That would put it a few weeks ahead of last year’s Magic 7 series, which debuted in late October before going on sale in early November 2024.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-Review-1024x576.jpg?x23692" alt="Honor Magic 7 Pro" class="wp-image-685525" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-Review-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-Review-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-Review-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-Review-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-Review-2048x1152.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-Review-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-Review-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-Review-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-Review-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Magic 8 series is rumored to include several models this year. In October, we may see the launch of the standard Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro, while a smaller Magic 8 Mini and a high-end Magic 8 Ultra could follow in early 2026.</p>

<h2><strong>What to expect?</strong></h2>

<p>According to previous leaks, the Magic 8 and 8 Pro will feature OLED displays measuring around 6.6 and 6.7 inches, respectively.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Both phones will be powered by Qualcomm’s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite-2" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Snapdragon 8 Elite 2</a> chipset, have support for wireless charging, and ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanners. The devices are also expected to feature larger batteries than their predecessors. </p>

<p>The Magic 8 Pro, in particular, may come with a 7000mAh cell and support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/08/14/honor-magic-8-series-3c-certified/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">90W wired charging</a>.</p>

<p>The Magic 8 Mini, meanwhile, is said to take a different approach. It’s rumored to use <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/08/18/honor-magic-8-mini-key-specifications-leaked/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chip</a>, paired with a smaller 6.3-inch screen and a slimmer overall design. </p>

<p>As for the Magic 8 Ultra, it is expected to feature <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/27/honor-dual-200mp-camera-phone-leak/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">dual 200-megapixel cameras</a>, one for the main sensor and another for a periscope telephoto lens. It will also run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip and may share features with the Magic 8 Pro, such as charging and display technology.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/honor">Honor</a> launched the Honor Magic 7 series as one of the first Snapdragon 8 Elite phones last year. The same is expected this year, as reports have claimed that the Magic 8 lineup featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will be unveiled in October. Ahead of the expected launch, new Honor phones believed to be part of the Magic 8 lineup have received 3C certification in China.</p>

<h3><strong>Honor Magic 8 series phones bag 3C certification</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="835" height="483" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Honor-Magic-8-series-3C-certified.png?x23692" alt="Honor Magic 8 series 3C certified" class="wp-image-701423" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Honor-Magic-8-series-3C-certified.png 835w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Honor-Magic-8-series-3C-certified-300x174.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Honor-Magic-8-series-3C-certified-768x444.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Honor-Magic-8-series-3C-certified-696x403.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Honor-Magic-8-series-3C-certified-726x420.png 726w" sizes="(max-width: 835px) 100vw, 835px" /><figcaption>Honor Magic 8 series 3C certified</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>As can be seen above, two Honor smartphones bearing the model numbers BKQ-AN00 and BKQ-AN80 have received 3C certification in China. These devices have been spotted with a 90W fast charger. Notably, the BKQ-AN80 version is listed with only BeiDou positioning support, meaning it may not include other satellite navigation systems such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, NavIC, or A-GNSS.</p>

<h3><strong>Honor Magic 8 series rumors</strong></h3>

<p>According to reports, the Honor Magic 8 lineup will comprise multiple models, such as the Magic 8, Magic 8 Pro, Magic 8 Mini, and Magic 8 Ultra. The standard and Pro models are expected to feature 6.58-inch and 6.7-inch OLED displays, respectively, and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite-2">Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 </a>chipset. While these devices are expected to launch this year, the Mini and Ultra editions may debut next year.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/26/honor-magic-8-mini-dimensity-9500-specs-leak/">Magic 8 Mini</a> is reportedly equipped with a 6.3-inch display and a Dimensity 9500 SoC. The Ultra variant may offer an ultimate photography experience, as it is said to be the world’s first phone equipped with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/27/honor-dual-200mp-camera-phone-leak/">dual 200-megapixel</a> lens setup for the primary and periscope telephoto cameras. A few weeks ago, Luo Wei, head of Honor Imaging, clarified that the Magic 8 series will not feature a 1-inch main camera or a dual-periscope telephoto lens. He explained that the brand prefers to focus on balanced performance rather than adding hardware for marketing appeal.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/honor/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Honor</a> looks set to finally debut an Ultra model in its flagship smartphone lineup. According to a new leak on Weibo by reliable tipster <em>Digital Chat Station</em>, the upcoming Honor Magic 8 series will include a Magic 8 Ultra, joining the standard <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/06/10/honor-magic-8-key-specifications-leaked/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Magic 8</a> and<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/10/honor-magic-8-pro-leak-suggests-flat-display-7000mah-battery-and-200mp-camera/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Magic 8 Pro</a>.</p>

<p>The Ultra variant has been rumored since the Magic 7 generation but never actually launched, until now, it seems. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="300" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Honor-Magic-8-Ultra-leak.jpg?x23692" alt="" class="wp-image-699394" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Honor-Magic-8-Ultra-leak.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Honor-Magic-8-Ultra-leak-300x100.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Honor-Magic-8-Ultra-leak-768x256.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Honor-Magic-8-Ultra-leak-696x232.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Magic 8 Ultra could be the end of the company’s co-branded camera partnership. Instead, the Magic 8 Ultra is expected to feature a self-developed imaging system called AiMage, which will reportedly enable new camera hardware and AI-powered photo features.</p>

<h2><strong>Honor Magic 8 Ultra incoming?</strong></h2>

<p>Under the hood, the Ultra model is rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s second-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite chip (SM8850). On the camera front, it could feature an OmniVision LOFIC main sensor, along with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/27/honor-dual-200mp-camera-phone-leak/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">200-megapixel periscope lens</a>. </p>

<p>While Honor has made it clear the phone won’t use a 1-inch main camera, the company&#8217;s imaging chief, Luo Wei, teased that the Ultra model will deliver a camera experience “no one has ever seen before.”</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-1-1024x576.png?x23692" alt="Honor Magic 7 Pro" class="wp-image-659682" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-1-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-1-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-1-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-1-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-1-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-1-747x420.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Honor-Magic-7-Pro-1.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Luo added that Honor will focus on meaningful hardware improvements, especially in areas where AI alone can’t deliver results. He said the company aims to “leave competitors behind” in the next three years by building products that directly benefit users rather than chasing flashy designs.</p>

<p>According to another tipster who goes by the name<em> Factory Manager Guan</em> (via <a href="https://news.mydrivers.com/1/1065/1065128.htm" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MyDrivers</a>), Honor will first launch the Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro models before unveiling the Magic 8 Ultra. The full lineup is expected to arrive in October and will use both MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 and Qualcomm’s latest flagship chips.</p>

<p>For now, details like battery size and display features remain under wraps. We’ll keep you in the loop as more information becomes available.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/honor">Honor</a> is expected to launch the Honor Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro smartphones equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip in October of this year. Like other competing flagships, the Magic 8 duo is expected to offer an impressive photography experience. However, a new development the company could be working on an Ultra-like flagship equipped with not one, but two 200-megapixel cameras.&nbsp;</p>

<h3><strong>Honor may debut the world’s first phone with dual 200MP cameras</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/image-124.png?x23692" alt="" class="wp-image-698674" width="958" height="185" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/image-124.png 958w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/image-124-300x58.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/image-124-768x148.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/image-124-696x134.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 958px) 100vw, 958px" /><figcaption>Honor phone with dual 200MP cameras in the works</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>According to tipster Fixed Focus Digital, Honor is gearing up to launch a smartphone featuring dual 200-megapixel cameras, an industry first. While the official name of the device hasn’t been confirmed, the Honor Magic 8 Ultra would be a fitting choice, positioning it to compete with other flagship “Ultra” models like the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Xiaomi 16 Ultra, Vivo X300 Ultra, and Oppo Find X9 Ultra.</p>

<p>Based on current industry trends, it’s likely that Honor’s dual 200-megapixel setup will include a main camera and a periscope telephoto lens. Several flagship phones like the Honor Magic7 RSR Porsche Edition, Vivo X200 Ultra, and Xiaomi 15 Ultra have already adopted a single 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, which delivers near-telescopic capabilities and commendable low-light performance.</p>

<p>Honor’s long-standing emphasis on periscope zoom is no secret. Its proprietary algorithms, including the “Super Zoom” tech, are already known for delivering sharp long-range shots. With 100x AI-powered digital zoom and image clarity that often outperforms competitors, the upcoming upgrade is expected to push boundaries further.</p>

<p>Honor’s Chief Imaging Engineer, <a href="https://s.weibo.com/weibo?q=%E7%BD%97%E5%B7%8DCyberverse">Luo Wei</a>, recently addressed rumors suggesting a 1-inch sensor or a dual-lens-per-sensor configuration. He dismissed these claims, clarifying that Honor avoids overengineering and focuses on practical innovation.</p>

<p>He also outlined the core principles guiding Honor’s imaging hardware strategy: investing in functions AI cannot currently replicate, those that only thrive with AI, and those where AI can exponentially boost performance. Luo confidently claimed that within three years, rivals won&#8217;t be able to match Honor’s progress.</p>
