A new leak adds more detail to the Honor Magic 9 Pro’s camera setup, covering both the front and rear systems.

According to the leak, the Honor Magic 9 Pro will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 (SM8975) chipset and use a 1:1 square selfie camera, which would make it the first Android phone with this format. A square sensor gives you a wider field of view for selfies and vlogging, since you don’t have to rotate the phone to switch between portrait and landscape framing. The leak also says this front camera setup borrows some of what Honor built for the Robot Phone.

Honor Magic 9 Pro rear camera specs

On the rear, the specs match what earlier reports have already covered. You get a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, an f/1.57 aperture, and 3-degree OIS, paired with a 50MP ultra-wide lens.

There’s also a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and an f/2.6 aperture. This matches what tipster Digital Chat Station shared back in March, when the dual 200MP setup first came up. Honor’s ARRI partnership is also expected to extend to the Pro model, which should bring improvements to color science and video processing.

The square selfie camera itself isn’t new information. Reports in May already pointed to Honor testing a similar sensor for the standard Magic 9, not long after Oppo was tipped to be working on the same format for the Find X10 series. Honor may end up shipping it first.

The tipster behind this leak also mentioned in the comments that Vivo is preparing its own square front camera for next year. That suggests the format could show up across more Chinese phone makers rather than staying limited to one brand.

The Honor Magic 9 series is expected to launch in China around October, so more details should come out as the launch date gets closer.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro has appeared in what could be an early AnTuTu benchmark, offering a glimpse at the performance Qualcomm’s next flagship platform may deliver. The result puts the upcoming 2nm chip firmly in the spotlight ahead of its expected arrival in next-generation Android flagships.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro’s AnTuTu score revealed

An AnTuTu V11.1.4 screenshot shared by tipster Digital Chat Station shows a device running Qualcomm’s SM8975 chip achieving 4,835,412 points. The score includes 1,368,930 points for the CPU and 1,854,826 points for the GPU. The GPU is identified as the Adreno 850.

Earlier leaks have associated the SM8975 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, while the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is reportedly linked to the SM8950.

For comparison, the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered flagships have crossed the 4.5-million mark on AnTuTu, putting this result roughly 6% higher. However, AnTuTu itself reportedly noted that the result cannot currently be retrieved through its backend, raising questions about its authenticity. The benchmark should therefore be treated as an early indication rather than a confirmed performance figure.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series is expected to power several upcoming flagship phones. Honor has confirmed that the Honor Magic 9 series will debut in China on September 28. While the standard Magic 9 is reportedly set to use last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the Pro models are expected to feature the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.

However, the Honor Magic 9 series may not be the first lineup to debut with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The Xiaomi 18 series is reportedly expected to introduce the chipset ahead of Honor. The same platform is also tipped to power upcoming flagships such as the iQOO 16 and OnePlus 16, which are expected to launch in China by late September or early October.

If the 4.84-million score proves genuine, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro could establish a new performance benchmark for upcoming 2nm Android flagships.

The post Breaking: Upcoming 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro scores 4.83M+ on AnTuTu appeared first on Gizmochina.

Honor has confirmed the launch date for its next flagship smartphone series, with the Honor Magic 9 lineup scheduled to arrive in September. The company has also teased major upgrades in performance, imaging and AI. Here is what to expect from the upcoming flagship series.

Honor Magic 9 series: 2nm chip and ARRI imaging

After the Robot Phone launch event, Honor CEO Li Jian confirmed that the Magic 9 series will officially debut on September 28 in Beijing. The company has also opened early reservations for the upcoming flagship lineup.

The Magic 9 series is expected to be among the first smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 flagship platform based on a 2nm manufacturing process. This could make the series one of the earliest Android flagships to enter the 2nm era, with improvements expected in performance, power efficiency and on-device AI capabilities.

According to Digital Chat Station, the Magic 9 series is tipped to feature a 200-megapixel primary camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, an f/1.57 aperture and 3-degree optical image stabilization. It is also expected to carry a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and f/2.6 aperture.

Honor has partnered with German professional imaging company ARRI for the series. The collaboration is expected to bring features such as ARRI LogC3, ARRI Look and an ARRI movie mode, with the focus extending to both photography and video recording.

The Magic 9 series is expected to feature a 6.8-inch 1.5K LTPO 2.5D flat display. Other reported specifications include a large battery with a capacity expected to start with an 8, alongside fast wireless charging, 3D facial recognition and 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanning.

Finally, the lineup is expected to include at least three models, namely the Magic 9, Magic 9 Pro, and Magic 9 Pro Max.

The post Honor Magic 9 series officially set to launch on September 28, 2nm chip, ARRI imaging expected appeared first on Gizmochina.

If you’ve been keeping up with us, you’ve already seen the early details on the Honor Magic 9 series. Now there’s more. This time, the spotlight is on the Honor Magic 9 Pro.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, Honor is testing the Magic 9 Pro with not one but two 200-megapixel sensors on the back. One is said to serve as the primary camera, while the other would power a periscope-style telephoto lens.

Honor Magic 9 Pro Camera Specifications (Expected)

The more interesting part is the choice of sensor. The prototype is said to be using either the OmniVision OV52B or the OmniVision OVB0D, both 200MP sensors, but with slightly different sizes and capabilities.

The OV52B reportedly comes in a 1/1.3-inch format and is expected to appear in several 2026 flagship phones. It’s designed to balance high resolution with improved dynamic range, which could help capture more detail in both bright and dark areas of a scene.

The OVB0D, on the other hand, is even larger at 1/1.12 inches and supports OmniVision’s LOFIC Gen 2 HDR technology. LOFIC, short for Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor, is meant to improve dynamic range and reduce blown-out highlights in challenging lighting. That could make it particularly useful in a flagship device that wants to compete on image quality rather than just raw megapixel numbers.

For now, there are no confirmed details about the phone’s processor, design, or battery. The leak focuses entirely on imaging. But the tipster did confirm that the Honor Magic 9 Pro will feature a 6.85-inch display.

As always with early leaks, plans can change. But we now at least have an idea of what Honor is preparing for its 2027 flagship lineup. The lineup could debut in October 2026.

The post Honor Magic 9 Pro may arrive with two 200MP cameras on the back appeared first on Gizmochina.

Honor appears to be doubling down on its focus on large battery capacities across its portfolio. After recently launching devices such as the Honor Win and Win RT with 10,000mAh batteries and the Honor Power 2 featuring a massive 10,080mAh unit, a new leak now suggests that the upcoming Magic 9 series could continue this trend. According to the leak, the next-generation flagship lineup may arrive with significantly bigger batteries than its predecessors, reinforcing Honor’s push towards long-lasting performance.

Honor Magic 9 series battery capacity tipped

Well-known tipster Smart Pikachu claims that the Magic 9 lineup will remain photography-focused while also emphasizing battery endurance as a key selling point. The leak indicates that upcoming models in the series could feature battery capacities ranging between 8,000mAh and 9,000mAh, which would represent a noticeable upgrade compared to previous Magic-series smartphones.

For context, the current Honor Magic 8 lineup already includes sizeable battery units. The standard Magic 8, equipped with a 6.58-inch display, houses a 7,000mAh battery, while the Magic 8 Pro and Magic 8 RSR, both featuring 6.71-inch displays, offer slightly larger 7,100mAh batteries. These models are powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipsets, setting expectations that the next generation could bring both performance and efficiency improvements.

Rumors also indicate that the Magic 9 series may be among the early adopters of the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 platform. In terms of display sizes, early speculation points to a compact 6.3-inch panel for the standard Magic 9, while the Magic 9 Pro / RSR could grow to around 6.85 inches.

In related news, Honor is also said to be working on the Honor 600 series, which may debut by May 2026 in China. A recent report states that the vanilla Honor 600 may house a 6.57-inch OLED screen and a huge 9,000mAh battery. The other details of the Honor 600 series are under wraps.

The post Honor Magic 9 series leak reveals massive 9,000mAh battery upgrade built to outlast rivals appeared first on Gizmochina.

Later this year, Honor may unveil the Honor Magic 9 series of flagship phones. While it is too early to confirm all the models that will be part of the lineup, it may include at least three variants, such as the Honor Magic 9, Magic 9 Pro, and Magic 9 RSR, similar to the Magic 8 lineup. A new leak, courtesy of tipster Digital Chat Station, has revealed the screen sizes of these models.

Honor Magic 9 series screen size tipped

The new leak suggests that Honor has begun early prototyping for its next-generation Magic 9 flagship series. Two new flat displays are reportedly being tested: a compact 6.36-inch panel and a much larger 6.85-inch panel. Both screens are said to feature 2.5D flat glass with large, rounded corners.

Likely, the standard Magic 9 may adopt a smaller flat display, while the Magic 9 Pro could feature a significantly larger flat screen. The tipster has also mentioned a “Pro Max” variant in the leak. At present, there is no clarity on how different the Pro Max edition could be compared to the Pro model.

As far as the Magic 9 RSR is concerned, it has traditionally featured the same display as the Pro variant. Therefore, it is likely that it may also feature a 6.85-inch display.

Coming back to the standard Magic 9, the 6.36-inch screen would be significantly smaller than the Magic 8, which features a 6.58-inch display. On the other hand, the Magic 9 Pro’s display may increase to 6.85 inches compared to the previous generation, which features a 6.71-inch screen.

The Honor Magic 9 series could be early adopters of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series chipset. Just as the previous generation was announced in October, the new lineup may debut in the same month this year.
