Ltd in November last year.

The company has been focusing on increasing its footprint in the offline market and in line with that, Honor is now set to open around 300 new Honor Experience Stores in China in the first week of October, i.e. between 1st October and 7th October.

At these new stores, customers will be able to experience the Honor Magic3 series flagship smartphone as well as the new multi-camera fusion computing photography technology that was launched a few days ago. However, this will be limited to select premium stores in Suzhou, Chengdu, Shanghai, and Changsha.

After becoming independent, the company launched its own online store in January this year, named Honor Mall for selling smartphones, tablets, smart displays, notebooks, earphones, and smartwatches, among others.

The company is also focusing on offline stores as well and is in the process of establishing thousands of new brick-and-mortar stores across the world. As of August 2021, Honor’s Experience Stores have increased by 68 percent compared to stores the company had at the beginning of this year.

Last month, George Zhao, CEO of Honor, revealed that the offline sales for the company accounted for more than 70 percent of its overall sale. This is interesting as Honor mostly positions its devices in the mid-range segment and under Huawei, it was the leading company for online sales in China.

Honor has now returned to the top three list of smartphone manufacturers in its home country China, with a market share of 14.6 percent. Not just China, Honor has also resumed business operations in about 50 countries around the world and is now focusing on recovering the lost market share.

All of them are flagships and, despite they carry different prices, they are not mid-rangers. Their specifications are astonishing, but at the same time, it is hard for a non-expert to understand the differences between these three handsets. Is it worth spending more for the Pro variants or the vanilla version is enough? This comparison between the phones from this trio will let you find out.

Design

The Honor Magic3 and its Pro variant have more or less the same design with a circular camera module and premium material. You can choose between a glass back or a vegan leather back, but both versions have an aluminum frame. The Honor Magic3 Pro+ has a different design with a bigger camera module that may seem ugly for a few people, but it is built with better materials as it comes with a great ceramic back and an aluminum frame. The Honor Magic3 Pro and the Pro+ come with the IP68 certification, so they are dustproof and waterproof. The vanilla version, instead, offers the IP54 certification making it dust resistant and splash resistant.

Display

All the phones from the new Honor trio come with the same display. It is an awesome OLED panel with a diagonal of 6.76 inches, curved edges, a Full HD+ resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+ certification. The display has a dual punch hole and it is able to show up to one billion colors as it comes with a 10 bit color depth. They all come with a fast under-display fingerprint reader and stereo speakers.

Hardware/Software

Despite they are three variants from the same lineup, all of these phones come with flagship hardware. The Honor Magic3 has a Snapdragon 888 mobile platform paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. With the Honor Magic 3 Pro and the Pro+, you get up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage, as well as a more advanced Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset. The phones run Android 11 customized by Magic UI which includes Google Mobile Services in the global market.

Camera

The main difference between the variants is the camera department, with the Pro+ offering the most advanced one. The vanilla version has a triple camera including a 50 MP main sensor, a 64 MP monochromatic lens, and a 13 MP ultrawide camera. The Magic3 Pro has exactly the same main camera and the same secondary sensors, but it adds a 64 MP telephoto lens with OIS and 3.5 optical zoom. The Honor Magic 3 Pro+ has a 50 MP main camera and three 64 MP additional sensors: a telephoto camera, a monochromatic lens, and an ultrawide one. The whole series features a 13 MP front camera paired with a TOF 3D sensor for facial recognition.

Battery

The battery is the same on each model, just like the display. But the vanilla version lacks 66W wireless charging, which is present on the Pro variants.

Honor Magic3 vs Honor Magic3 Pro vs Honor Magic3 Pro Plus: Price

The global price of the Honor Magic 3 is €900/$1060, the Pro variant starts from €1100/$1300, and the Pro+ is priced at €1500/$1770. Which one would you pick?

The Honor Magic3 series has been launched in the company’s home country China.

After the launch event, during an interview, Honor CEO George Zhao talked about the global launch of Honor smartphones. He said that the company will now focus on resuming business operations in over 50 countries around the world.

George Zhao (Zhao Ming), CEO of Honor

He added that the company is now preparing to launch the Honor 50 series smartphones globally in about 30 countries. For those who are unaware, the lineup was launched in China a couple of months back in June. The newly launched Honor Magic3 series will also be launched globally but there’s no timeline revealed by the Chinese company.

The Honor-branded smartphones launching globally will be equipped with Google Mobile Services (GMS). As per the recent report, Honor is currently undergoing Google’s Play Protect Security Review and Compatibility Testing to ensure that GMS applications can run on its smartphones.

Honor was forced to ditch GMS on its devices when the company was a sub-brand of Huawei given that the United States has imposed sanctions on the Chinese tech giant, barring it from using Google or any technology made by an American firm.

George Zhao has also acknowledged that the company’s market share in the overseas market has declined to almost zero. He adds that the brand’s focus is now on the recovery of its business in about 50 countries where it has established operations.

With the support of Google Mobile Services and the new promising devices launched in the market, Honor is hoping to make a V-shaped recovery, to become among the leading smartphone brands. It remains to be seen if the company can manage to achieve its goal.

The info comes from @RODENT950, one of the sources that originally reported there will be three models. In a tweet posted earlier today, he disclosed the name of all four models in the Magic3 series.

According to the tweet, the models are the Magic3 SE which is similar to the Huawei Mate 40, the Magic3 which is like the Mate 40 Pro, the Magic3 Pro, and the Magic3 Pro+.

At the moment, we do not know the specs of these four devices but there is a possibility the Honor Magic3 SE won’t feature a Snapdragon 888 Plus processor but either a less-powerful Snapdragon chipset or one from MediaTek.

Honor has confirmed that it will announce the Magic3 series at a global event on August 12. We do not know if all four models will be announced at the global event. We also can’t rule out the possibility of some models being exclusive to select markets.

The chipset will appear in phones launching in the second half of the year, and among the confirmed devices it will power is the Honor Magic 3 series flagship.

The info was confirmed in Qualcomm’s press release along with a statement from an Honor company executive. According to Fang Fei, the president of product line, Honor Device Co., Ltd “…The game-changing advancements we see in the new Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G Mobile Platform make it a perfect fit for HONOR’s upcoming Magic3 series flagship.”

Prior to the launch of the Snapdragon 888 Plus, there were reports that Honor will launch the Magic 3 in August and it will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 Pro. The Snapdragon 888 Plus was originally referred to as the Snapdragon 888 Pro.

Honor plans to announce two Magic phones this year. It has been reported that one will be a foldable device and it is expected to launch as the Honor Magic Fold.

Qualcomm’s press statement also kills the rumor that the chipset will be exclusive to Honor as it confirms that other manufacturers will also announce phones powered by the chipset. ASUS’s general manager of smartphone business, Bryan Chang, has confirmed that the Snapdragon 888 Plus will appear in a ROG phone. Vivo and Xiaomi have also confirmed that they will announce phones powered by the new processor. We also expect other brands not stated above to have a Snapdragon 888 Plus phone in the pipeline.

At the moment, we do not know which phone will launch first but we will update you once we have more details.
