Honor MagicBook 14 with 2K+ display, 12th Gen Intel CPU & RTX 2050 launched in Malaysia

Yesterday, Honor held a launch event in Malaysia where it launched the Honor 70 5G and the Honor Pad 8 for the first time outside of China. The brand also launched the Honor MagicBook 14 for Malaysia. So, let’s check out the specifications and features of the laptop.

Honor MagicBook 14 specs

The MagicBook 14 has a 14-inch, 2.1K, 3:2 screen with a brightness rating of 300 nits and a 100% sRGB rich color gamut. Additionally, the screen has triple eye protection certification from TUV Rheinland for low blue light and no screen flicker.

The laptop comes with a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12500H CPU and two graphics choices – the Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics or the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 which has 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM. The laptop is available with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB PCIe Gen4 SSD. It comes with Microsoft Windows 11 and Office H&S 2021 pre-installed.

The air intake size is enlarged by 31.7% on the Honor MagicBook 14, which features a grille-type twin air inlet design. It has a novel heat-dissipation technology with symmetrical dual fans, which results in a 35% increase in air volume. While maintaining a 20dB noise level, it is able to dissipate heat by 56% more than its predecessor.

The laptop has a body made entirely of metal and a large 75Wh battery that supports 100W rapid charging and can be fully charged in 80 minutes. When shut off, the laptop has the ability to reverse charge as well.

Pricing & availability

The Honor MagicBook 14 with Core i5-12500H, 16GB RAM, Intel Iris Xe, and 512GB SSD is priced at RM 4,299. On the other hand, the laptop equipped with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 is priced at RM 5,099.

The MagicBook 14 will be available at Honor stores nationwide as well as the official Honor Shopee and Lazada stores.

Honor has just launched a new laptop in its domestic Chinese market dubbed the Honor MagicBook 14. So let’s take a look at what the new laptop has in store for us.

Honor MagicBook 14 specs & features

The laptop houses a 14-inch 2.1K 3:2 screen with a 100% sRGB high color gamut and 300nits of brightness. The screen is also equipped with TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light and No Screen Flicker triple eye protection certification.

The MagicBook 14 is powered by the latest 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12500H processor with NVIDIA RTX 2050 or NVIDIA MX550 as two available options. It also comes in a Core i7-12650H model.

The laptop runs on the Magic OS for Windows. The notebook is the first thin and light notebook to come equipped with HONOR OS Turbo technology, which provides for reduced power consumption by 39.6% and response speed increase by 17.9%.

Honor MagicBook 14 uses a grille-type dual air inlet design, and the air intake area is increased by 31.7%. It features a new heat dissipation system with a symmetrical dual-fan which leads to an increased air volume of 35%. It manages to achieve 56% increased heat dissipation compared to its predecessor while keeping the noise at just 20dB.

The laptop features an all-metal body, and houses a big 75Wh battery that supports 100W fast charging and can be fully charged in 80 minutes. The laptop is also capable of reverse charging when turned off.

Honor MagicBook 14 pricing

The company is retailing the MagicBook 14 (2022) Core i5 model with a price tag of 5499 yuan ($808). It is available in Starry Grey and Glacier Silver colors. The Core i7 model on the other hand has a retail price of 5699 yuan ($838).

The MagicBook 14 with i5 with MX550 GPU model is priced at 5999 yuan ($882) and the top-spec Core i5 with NVIDIA RTX2050 costs 6499 yuan ($956).

The laptop can be preordered in China and will hit the markets starting May 19th.

Previously Honor has teased that the company will bring Magic OS, its in-house developed desktop user interface over to Windows. Dubbed as MagicOS for Windows, this new user interface features a cleaner look, improved battery endurance and seamless integration for upcoming Honor notebooks and Honor smartphones.

And it seems that the project is bearing fruit soon, as the brand has officially announced that the company will be announcing the Honor Magicbook 14 2022, the first Honor laptop to feature MagicOS for Windows, in China on May 16th (Monday) at 2:30 pm Beijing Time (UTC +8).

The company officially announced the launch date of the Honor Magicbook 14 2022 on its official Chinese social media account on Weibo. Honor explicitly teased that the device will be featuring exceptional endurance, as from the marketing, the company claims that the Honor Magicbook 14 has up to 20 hours of battery life on a single charge, which is quite bold considering the only other company that claims 20 hours of battery life is Apple with their M1 powered Macbooks.

This exceptional battery performance Honor claims to be the work of its new MagicOS for Windows which includes a new feature called “OS Turbo”. Under the assistance of OS Turbo, Honor notebooks are now better optimised for power efficiency. The company claims that the latest Honor Magicbook 14 2022 can reduce power consumption by up to 2X% with the optimisation features of OS Turbo.

As for the hardware packing under the Honor Magicbook 14 2022, ITHome reports that the Honor Magicbook 14 2022 will be sporting Intel’s latest 12th Gen Core i5 and i7 processors, with an optional dedicated graphics card from Nvidia which could be either the Nvidia MX550 GPU or the Nvidia RTX 2050 GPU depending on your preferred setup during checkout.
