Just a couple of months after being independent, Honor has announced its latest laptop in the market — Honor MagicBook Pro 2021. The launch comes after the company separated from Huawei, allowing it to source components from US-based firms.

Unlike the previous HonorBook which was powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 4600H processor, the new models shift to Intel. The device comes powered by the Intel Core i5 10210U processor and NVIDIA GeForce MX350 GPU.

It’s noteworthy that the chipset used in this new laptop is a downgrade compared to the previous model. Also, it is using the 10th generation Intel chip even though the company has already launched the 11th generation models.

It features a 16.1-inch display that comes with a Full HD panel with 100% sRGB coverage. Internally, the device packs 16GB of RAM and 512GB NVMe for storage. There’s also a pop-up webcam for video calling. As for the ports, the device features three USB-A ports, one USB-C port, and a single HDMI connection, along with the usual 3.5mm headphone jack.

The laptop also comes with a fingerprint sensor that doubles as the computer’s power button. As for the battery life, the Chinese company claims to offer over 11 and a half hours of uptime on a single charge, thanks to the 56Wh battery.

Honor is also including a 65W power adapter, which is promised to offer 50 percent charging in about 30 minutes. While the company has not yet revealed the launch of availability, it is confirmed to be priced at $1,000.

Honor, the Huawei subsidiary, has just unveiled its latest lineup of MagicBook laptops in the IFA 2020 event, earlier today (4th September 2020). These laptops are refreshes to the 14 and 15 inch models which were launched earlier this year and feature AMD’s new Ryzen 4000 series processors.

While all of the laptops feature a Ryzen 4000 series chip, only the MagicBook Pros arrive with an H series processor. For those unaware, the U series is generally for thin and light laptops with en emphasis on low power draw while the H series focuses on offering better performance. Taking a look into the MagicBook Pro series first:

MagicBook Pro

The Honor MagicBook Pro features the Ryzen 5 4600H, which is a six core 12 thread CPU with Radeon graphics integrated. For memory, the user is offered 16GB of dual channel RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. The laptop has a 16.1 inch Full HD display with a 90 percent screen to body ratio and with an sRGB cover of 100 percent. The Honor MagicBook pro weighs just 1.7 kilograms and is only 16.9mm thick, which is fairly light and thin for a laptop with an H series chip.

MagicBook 14 & 15

Alongside the specced up MagicBook Pro, the company has also launched the MagicBook 14 and 15. These are a direct refresh of the laptop which was unveiled earlier this year at MWC. The laptops now feature a Ryzen 5 4500U processor, with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. Although, the configuration and availability will vary between countries.

Between the 14 inch and 15 inch variant, the only real difference is the screen size.
Users get also get three USB 3.2 Gen1 Type A ports, one USB Type-C port for charging, an HDMI 2.0, and a 3.5mm audio jack as well. The laptop also supports Bluetooth 5.0 and has a camera hidden inside the keyboard along with a fingerprint sensor on the power button.

Both variants feature the same resolution and also feature identical ports including one USB Type C for charging, one USB 3.2 Gen1 Type A, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Apart from the display, another difference is the battery, with the smaller variant having a much larger battery for some unknown reason (56Wh versus 42Wh on the MagicBook 15).

Price and Availability

The Honor MagicBook Pro with the Ryzen 5 4600H will be available in Germany starting from 7th September 2020 and the UK from the 8th. It will be priced at €899.90/£859.99 (roughly 1,200 US Dollars) respectively. A promotional offer at launch offers a €100 off in Germany and France or a free Honor Magic Watch and Honor Router 3 in the UK. Last week, the names and codenames of certain upcoming Huawei devices leaked. Now, a new set of both Huawei as well as Honor products heading to Europe leak. But this time around, instead of codenames, we get the model numbers.

The last tip was from Evan Blass (@evleaks) and one of the devices in that list, HUAWEI Watch Fit even leaked extensively earlier this week with renders, specifications, and price.

Whereas, today’s new leak comes from @RODENT950,  another known leakster on Twitter. His list includes nine smartphones and three laptop models. Out of the total twelve products, six each are Huawei and Honor branded respectively. Also, unlike the previous leak, this one clearly says that these devices are heading to Europe.

Having said that, here’s the entire list of new Huawei and Honor devices coming to Europe. Do note that the ones without names are denoted by “xxx”.

Upcoming Honor Laptops and Smartphones – Europe

Going by the model numbers of the handsets in the Huawei tabular column, the Mate40 Lite, P Smart Pro 2021, and Y9a are basically the same phones with different branding. On the other hand, P Smart 2021 and Y7a should be identical. However, all the products in the Honor tabular column are unique.

That said, it is not sure when these smartphones and laptops will launch in Europe as the tipster merely mentions “soon”.

Honor‘s MagicBook line of devices seem to be doing well, as the company plans to launch a brand new model on December 22. Just a month after the launch of the well received Honor MagicBook 14 and 15, the company is now touting a brand new Honor MagicBook Pro, and if that weren’t already enough, it’s going to come in a brand new blue option!

Honor announced that earlier today that the Honor MagicBook Pro Charm Starfish Blue is meant to spice up their line of simple silver laptops with a dash of bright blue. If you remember, this colour also made an appearance on this year’s Honor V30 series, and it’s actually the most popular colour. The use of an AG matte process gives it a premium finish.

Alongside the brand new Honor MagicBook Pro in all its blue glory, we’ll also be receiving updated versions of last month’s Honor MagicBook 14 and 15. They’ll be getting variant with more RAM, bringing the device from 8GB to 16GB. On top of that, the older devices will also be receiving the brand new blue finish, so there are more options for those too.

We can probably expect a pretty similar setup in terms of specs too. On the Honor MagicBook 14 and 15 we’ve got AMD‘s Ryzen 7 3700U processor along with Radeon RX Vega 10 graphics card. The device comes equipped with DDR4 dual-channel memory and it uses PCIe NVMe SSD for storage. The MagicBook Pro has 16″ display and will probably feature better specs, but we’ll have to wait for the December 22nd launch to really find out.

At the Honor 9X launch event in China today, where the company announced the Honor 20 Pro Icelandic Illusion model as well, Honor also launched its new laptop device — Honor MagicBook Pro, as the company had previously teased.

The Honor MagicBook Pro comes with a 16.1-inch full-screen display with 1920 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, and 90 percent screen ratio. Thanks to the left and right bezel of only 4.9mm, the laptop is claimed to be more compact than the mainstream 15.6-inch notebooks.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the 8th-generation Intel Core i7-8565U processor which is claimed to be 40% faster than its predecessor. It is coupled with NVIDIA GeForce MX250 discrete graphics and comes with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.

It also comes with seven built-in temperature sensors that monitor the internal temperature of the fuselage in real-time and effectively balances the airflow and helps in reducing fan noise.

The Honor MagicBook Pro comes packed with a 56Wh battery that is claimed to provide around 14 hours of battery life on a single charge. It has a built-in dual-antenna WLAN with a maximum speed of 1733Mbps. The device also supports the Magic Link 2.0 connection, touch screen, and a few other functions.

It comes with a full-size backlit keyboard and has a front-facing camera hidden inside the middle key, which pops up when the key is pressed. It also supports functions such as one-touch screen recording among others.

As for the pricing, the Honor MagicBook Pro is priced at 5,499 yuan for the Intel Core-i5-powered model while the one powered by Intel Core-i7 is priced at 6,199 yuan. The top-end model with 16GB of RAM and 1TB storage will go on sale in August. The company has said that it will be offering a discount of 200 yuan for the first sale, which will take place on 29th July in China.

On July 23, Honor will be holding a new product launch conference. Now, we know most of what we can expect to see there, including the Honor 9X, an Honor SmartTV and a new Magicbook. Of this bunch, the one we surprisingly know the least about is the new Magicbook. Outside of a single leaked image, we didn’t really have much to go off of. Now however, Honor’s really a teaser image for the brand new device, so let’s take a closer look.

First off, we’ve finally got official confirmation that the new Magicbook will be called the Honor Magicbook Pro. This means it’s not really a new iteration of the Magicbook, but rather a new line of Magicbooks, probably more focused towards stronger performance. Honor also claims the Magicbook Pro has “unbounded full screen, high performance and thinner”. We can assume this refers to the display with tiny bezels, and a new chipset + GPU solution.

We’ve also learned that the Honor MagicBook Pro will be equipped with IPS FHD 16:9 screen, with 100% sRGB wide color gamut. The advantage of the 100% sRGB wide color gamut is that it can make the screen more vibrant, as well as help it more accurately reproduce colours. The fact that it’s an IPS panel will also lend to some pretty good viewing angles.

Some leaked specs have also surfaced, claiming that the basic version of the Honor MagicBook Pro will be equipped with an Intel i5-8265U processor and an NVIDIA MX250 GPU. Alongside that, we can expect at least 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, as well as support for fingerprint identification on the power button and Honor’s signature pop-up camera.

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has announced that the company’s new laptop dubbed as Honor MagicBook Pro, is all set to get unveiled in China. The company has also released a teaser video hinting at some of its features.

The teaser video shared by Honor claims that the device will come with a full-screen design, high-end performance and lighter in weight. However, the company has not yet revealed any specifications of this upcoming laptop.

Last month, leaks and reports suggested that the MagicBook Pro will come with a 16.1-inch display and have multiple variants based on the processor and memory configuration. As per the reports, it will start with Intel Core i5-8265U processor with an optional Nvidia MX250 graphics card.

We expect the device to have 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The device also features dual speakers on both the sides of the keyboard. There’s also a web camera hidden in the middle of the functions key, similar to what we’ve seen in the previous generation models. The power key on the device will also house the fingerprint sensor for added security.

While the teaser video has been released by the Chinese company, there’s no information about the official launch date, pricing, and availability details. However, since Honor has started teasing the device, the launch could take place pretty soon.
