<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As per Tianyan Check (via </span><a href="https://finance.sina.com.cn/tech/2020-11-23/doc-iiznctke2806423.shtml"><i><span style="font-weight: 400">Sina Tech</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400">), Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. filed a design patent ( CN306175428S) titled ‘Mobile Phone with Graphical User Interface for Temperature Measurement and Display Results’ on March 31, 2020, and it was officially published on November 17.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The abstract for this patent’s document says that after measuring the temperature of a human or an object through the camera of a mobile phone or a tablet, the result of the measurement can be viewed on the device’s display itself.</span></p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">If this sounds familiar, then you aren’t alone. Because Huawei has already launched two smartphones with this functionality. The first handset is the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/03/honor-play4-and-play4-pro-launched-features-ir-temperature-sensor-and-liquid-cooling/"><span style="font-weight: 400">HONOR Play4 Pro Temperature Measurement Edition</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> from the company’s then sub-brand. The second model is the recently launched ultra-premium </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-40-rs-porsche-design/"><span style="font-weight: 400">PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate40 RS</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Both these handsets use an IR camera, which is capable of measuring temperatures ranging from -20°C and 100°C. And as the patent says, the results can be viewed on these smartphones themselves.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Hence, this patent does not reveal anything new except for the fact that </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> has patented this technology and may use it in future devices as well.</span></p>
